Good Foods offers customer service like no other grocery Ive seen. This afternoon I ordered lunch, and the chefs assistant called out my name when it was ready. This food was made to order, and I found it very delicious. Thankfully, safety protocols for the pandemic are being followed there, and cleanliness appears to be a top priority. Also, I found a lot of the Keto friendly and other healthy items that I like at this store. Ive been going here for years and highly recommend this health food store!
Appreciate the cleanliness and I have worked in food service as sales, bartending, and a barista. The honey selection is good and I give it to relatives at Christmas. Sourwood is hard to come by and I am not going to order things to be shipped in. I never seem to have time to order food and eat it there. Keep it up. Brenda Bracey
We have frequented Good Foods for years and really enjoy their made to order sandwiches and deli items. However, we had a disgusting experience today (July 20, 2021). We were disgusted to find the used food service glove of the kitchen staff left in our to-go bag, literally sitting on top of our sandwiches. I takes actual effort to get those gloves off so I’m unsure how this could have happened beyond just carelessness. It’s also clear there was zero quality control. Be careful.
Great selection of natural foods, beauty, and supplements. Staff is very friendly and helpful. So lucky to live near this place - its one of a kind. #shoplocal
Great store if you are looking for specific health food ingredients, supplements, and speciality food. The flow of the store was a little odd. Look forward to going back.
The staff is so friendly and there is an excellent selection of food and other stuff. I even like the greeting cards.
Great store with a good selection. They have a good food café to eat in.
Nice upgrades, great bulk bin selections and expanded local produce! Well be back!
Today was my first experience here (9am), as a plant mom I was immediately excited when I noticed plants & flowers as soon as you walk in. Very clean, quiet & if you’re vegan/plant/Vegetarian they have options for us 😃. I really enjoyed my experience bc it wasn’t busy (introvert here) literally no lines, clean, the staff didn’t mind directing me to where something was. Highly recommend this place for your fresh veggies but they pretty much have everything from food to detergent (even wine).
Good Foods Grocery is paradise for those who love natural, organic, delicious and nutritious food. GFG offers a plethora of raw, local, and exotic ingredients/products that compliment and support a healthy lifestyle. A nice bonus is that the Good Foods Grocery staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Keep up the good work!
Great bulk section that includes dried herbs and spices. Another source for organic meat and dairy other than a grocery store chain. All produce is organic, and Altho the produce section is small, it still contains a fair amount of items. Store is always very clean.
Good Foods is a local treasure southside, particularly important for people looking for plant-based diet staples without having to travel into the city or to Short Pump. If you are wanting to bulk-buy organic items without shopping online and paying shipping costs, as well as keeping local business thriving in Richmond, I highly recommend you shop at Good Foods..
The store is lovely, and has an excellent selection of goods. Most of the staff are wonderful, but there are two older employees I have run into at the registers that have been quite rude. If they’re running the check out I make sure to use a different line. It may be petty, but if they’re the only ones at the registers, I put my things back and go shop elsewhere. There’s no excuse for the attitude, and I have gotten it multiple times from the same two people. It’s unprofessional, and gives the impression that they don’t want to be working there. Maybe a pep talk is needed to encourage them to treat all their customers courteously and politely regardless of the mood they are in. Thank goodness all of the other employees are super sweet and very helpful.
Lisa Adams contributing today 2/7/19. I go to Good Foods often. The associates are super helpful when it comes to supplements and the other items they carry. If I am looking for something in particular, I just call ahead (they actually answer the phone themselves here unlike most stores where you get a recording) and they can tell me what brands they carry and the price. They stock Montana Gold Bread, which I love because the varieties I like do not contain dairy, which is important to me. Also, they offer a lot of the same vegetarian/vegan items as Whole Foods and Ellwood Thompsons but many (not all) are at a lower price. In the spring and summer, they offer a great variety of good quality fresh herbs in pots. The best thing about Good Foods is their bulk bins. They have grains, legumes, trail mix, spices, you name it. I can always find what I need here. Plenty of parking is a big plus!
Any time you need something helpful, but slightly obscure (still not sure why vanilla beans and cacao nibs are slightly obscure in big grocery chains), this is the place to go. Organic, healthy, and they have all the things. I love this store.
This is an awesome health food store! My aunt who has severe allergies has been coming here for years to find food, supplements, and pantry staples that are safe for her. Now that I have allergies I have been doing to same. For a small store they have quite a variety! We have also enjoyed their dishes they make in house as well as their delicious pressed juices. This place is a great, small scale alternative to Whole Foods!
Best local grocery store a girl could ask for
So sad this store is gone from the north side of town, but happy to see it in action south of the James. Amazing store. Huge selection of bulk beans, nuts, dried fruits, dehydrated items, teas, spices, flours, meals, and more. Also great deli area for fresh meal to sit and enjoy or to go. Great prices on so many items! Staff is very kind and helpful. Ill be making a trip back to the south side just for Good Foods! Gotta support the locals!!
Great natural food store but like most the price is less than desirable. Most everything there I can buy online for at least 20% less than there sale price a lot of times. Its a small quaint store with very nice and helpful staff. I didnt have a problem finding most things but when I did need help there wasnt any trouble finding someone and getting the answers I needed. A very good first experience. I will come back when Im in town next time.
Love it. I found everything I needed. Turmeric root my fav. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. ❤❤❤
A great little organic and local market. Their dry goods (rice, beans, dried fruit, etc.) bins are the best, which I commonly frequent for chocolate covered banana chips and dark chocolate covered raisins.I have been there for lunch, which was good. They have pre-made sandwiches and sides if youre in a pinch for time. I know they are open for breakfast now, as well.Staff is always friendly and helpful!
The staff is always pleasant. The cafe food has been great. The herbs are slightly less expensive than other places. The owner is nice although he never remembers me😁. Its all good. I like their Frozen selection. The produce during the summer was lacking.
Id like the store most of the time I travel to the other side of town to go to Ellwood Thompson but I choose to go here because its closer and most of the time I can find some of the things that I need or I want but the people are nice there and always willing to help you find what you need and if theres something that they dont have they always can order it for you if its something particular that youre looking for.
I like the store, I like the products, but in a recent visit i discovered the Forest Hills store seems to have let their COVID guard down. Despite a sign outside the door that says “Customers must wear a mask inside the store”, i saw shoppers without masks walking and talking in a small environment inside the store and around other shoppers. Maintenance people were working around shoppers and produce without masks as well.
I started taking my son here when he was a year old...that was two and a half decades ago, and I still love this store. He used to sit in the cart eating a pb and J on that delicious homemade bread. One of my favorite places in Richmond. I find it easy to locate wonderful organic produce, as well as a large variety of vegan foods. It also carries organic meats, but I havent eaten meat for over 45 years ;) Happy with the health and whole foods focus!
Cute place. i can tell that everything that i buy is made of natural ingredients.
Amazing selection of bulk foods! Great produce section with a ton if local products. Love this market! Now they have a kitchen and salad bar.
Love the bins of goodies found nowhere else. Very good selection of gluten free.
Locally owned health foods market with cafe area. Organic, lactose free, gluten free, raw, nut free selections throughout store. Vitamins, medicines, essential oils, tinctures, soaps, lotions, hygiene products as well .Has a huge bulk section, to-go freshly prepared entrees, sides, salads, soups...even vegetarian and vegan options. Great selection of bulk spices, coffee, local produce and local honey, local butters, local freezer meats, local dairy etc. They make fresh juices, smoothes and meals you can enjoy right there or on the go.
Great selection of organic foods. Just wish they hadnt closed their location in the west end.
Always my ‘go to’ for high potency multivitamins, bulk foods and incense. Nice selection of healthy eats. 😁 Staff is friendly and helpful.
Get a tarragon chicken salad wrap. You wont regret it. Lots of other good prepared foods available, including vegetarian options.
Good location to find a wide variety of organic and gluten free items. This particular store also maintains a wide assortment of herbs, essential oils, and other items for those interested in homeopathic treatments.
Its a reason why they call it good foods....they also have fresh meals for breakfast and lunch which is awesome. Our first time here and it wasnt bad at all.
Small store, but carries most of the basics with a natural slant. Vitamins occupy a lot of shelf space and there is a small space for prepared food, so room for actual groceries is even more limited. Quality of fresh fruits and vegetables is variable, but the bulk section is great; I stop in once every several weeks just to stock up. Bulk has both organic and the other kind.
Best bulk in town! Excellent selection of organic and natural foods. I like to grab things to go for lunch from their cafe and their selection of kombucha is to die for!
Good selection of bulk items. produce can be iffy. great prepared foods, but their kitchen is only open limited hours
Nice locally grown fruits 🌱and vegetables🐝🌺. Great selection of health care products. The deli is nice and yes there is coffee🕊
Quiet original natural foods store. Expanded now. Thank you for not being owned by amazon.
Friendly staff, great specialty selection, and a convenient location
A better, economically sensible alternative to Elwood Thompson’s for those following a low/zero waste lifestyle. Bulk items include: tea leaves, coffee, nuts, spices of all kinds, rice n beans, sweets, and more difficult-to-find items such as vegetarian capsules for homemade supplements, beeswax, activated charcoal, bentonite clay, vitamin C powder, CBD gummies, and their personal care section is filled with eco-friendly and vegan products made with the environment in mind. The store itself is very organized and immaculately clean whenever I’m in and the staff is super chill and don’t mind tareing my jars. I just hope one day y’all install some bulk liquid personal care dispensers for dr bronners and some shampoo and conditioner so I won’t have to make an extra trip into downtown Richmond; I’d gladly pay a little more than what I’m spending at Thompson’s to fill up my shampoo bottles at Good Foods instead!
Expensive but they carry so much. Th3 bulk section is the best in Richmond. Probably less expensive than Ellwood Thompsons.
Cute store with zero waste options. Good prices.
They have good food here and its a grocery store, so thats good. And the staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
Health foods organics and such. Small and friendly. Open for lunch. Good food.
Love the tarragon chicken salad. A must have when Im in the area!
Good for finding odds and ends of the organic variety. Some items are cheaper here than Whole Foods or Elwood.
Great health food store large selection of products. Local farm produce and goods and deli!!
Everything I need for healthy eating, perso al care and supplementation all in a store thats not too big to get around in. So grateful they are there this side of Richmond!
Very knowledgeable people great products. And fresh ground but butters delicious!!
Cafe was terrible... Service was slow and obviously disinterested and borderline rude, panini (chicken and spinach) was super greasy. Black bean burger fell apart and also extremely greasy. Store is pretty good, nice selection of spices and items in bulk.
The BEST Grocery Store in Richmond!!!! I find all of my Organic Products and Essential Oils!
Produce section is very small. Otherwise, its a nice little store that sells some specialty items like erythritol and flavored stevia drops that are hard to find outside of the internet.
Love the bulk bins of things like quinoa and couscous
Whenever we need something we just go to good foods.
This store has a bit of everything. They also have friendly helpful staff.
Small store with an ok selection of organic and natural foods.
Wide selection of products, knowledgeable staff, great kitchen.
Great location, this is a health food store of which I like, smaller location, it may not offer as much due to store size, but the staff is very accommodating. Strip mall location here.
Clean store with friendly staff. Great selection of healthy food and drinks.
I love their honey.
Great place. Over priced in some products.
Clean. Can find spices and bulk items here.
Great staff & food
I just love this store.
Very clean and great employees!
I Absolutely LOVE this place!!
Half the store is supplements. What little actual food they have is overpriced.
Good products, good people, good food finds!
They have the things you cant get anywhere else,
They had what I wanted
Such a friendly place to find healthy treats!
Lots of good stuff kind of expensive
Great bulk selections
Filthy!
I went to this store for the first time and I loved it because I found a lot of food for my lifestyle very soon I will be back regres
