I had the best retail customer service experience ever. Walked in with a bag of bearings and wheel hub. Michael approached me right away and knew exactly what I needed, otherwise I would have been standing there for an hour looking at all the trailer parts, trying to figure it out. He is extremely knowledgeable and provided an educational experience on trailer repair. He went above and beyond my expectations. I rarely leave a review, but this is well deserved. Give that man a promotion and a raise!!!

Customer service is almost nonexistent. Half the employees dont seem to know what they are doing.

I squeeked in 6 minutes before closing. I received a fun expression from the manager that closing in 6 mins, and he personally asked what I was looking for, I responded from only 10 in the door, and he offered the exact aisle and location of my desired tool. Before I got to the aisle, another employee offered to help me find it. Within 45 seconds, I had what I needed, a proceeded to check out. I tried to go straight there, but I like tools. And I started to stray, but the same employee offered to help guide me to the cashier, in a very hilarious manner. I told him, my wife always exclaims squirreI, as I get distracted. I had the best experience that night, ever shopping there. I know that it was the first time I have ever seen the manager of the store, and one of the most outgoing employee offering customer service. GREAT JOB! I hope this was not an isolated event. I really did enjoy all 4 minutes I was there. I did find exactly what I needed, as well. THANK YOU!

Im middle of the road review because in store Ive never had any issues and like the amount of availability of milwaukee products but their online is lacking. Dont order online unless you have no rush. And selecting store pick up on an item will change to store delivery if no items in stock and its taking 2 weeks for my items to deliver to store.

The store itself was clean and may not have carried what I needed but carried a variety of items I wanted! Customer service however was outrageous. For one I called and asked if they carried a certain item, the lady told me they did. I got there and they didn’t carry anything close to what I needed. Then when I asked the cashier, he was on his phone but paused and told me to check an isle. When I came back to the front he was again on his phone and I explained what I was looking for he looked up said “okay. Anything we have is on that isle” and went back to his phone. Never have I had such poor customer service.

Northern Tool did a great job. I purchased a Versitube 2 car carport. I applied for a building permit. My county needed an Virginia registered wet sealed copy of the build plans. NT could not help. So I called Versitube. They said sure we can get them to you for $480.00. I was shocked...I think this is a rip off. I will never by anything for versitube again! I will also let my family, friends and neighbors not to buy from them.

Its pretty bad when youre asking for help and you feel like youre bothering the employees there.

Amazing selection of quality tools and power equipment. In addition to their selection/inventory, what separates them is their customer service. I recently had a complicated order eg some in stock, ship to store, online only and their assistant manager James and cashier Cynthia in their Richmond store took excellent care of my complex situation and made sure I left the store with everything taken care of. Will drive by a big box chain every time to find a Northern Tool, even if it means it is out of my way.

I purchased two trailer hubs fully assembled for a very fair price. In fact better prices than I seen at local places near my house. It was worth the 20 minute drive. The part store near my house wanted almost $100 for one hub, that was not fully assembled ( no bearings). For that price of $100 I got two fully assembled hubs, and two nuts with the washers for that price. To me it was a great deal. Online stores stated that it would take 6 to 8 weeks to receive. Northern tools on Midlothian turnpike, They had what I needed in stock.

At the time of my first visit this week, I searched for an item, it said it was in stock. I go to the store, and come to find out, it wasnt. It was still on the truck and not in the bin. The employee was not helpful.. Second visit This week, I did get the item. Asked another person, a manager, why do they say they have something in stock, but still on the truck? Meaning why was it received, and taken off the truck to be sold.. if its still on the truck then it should not be showing up in inventory. This doesnt make sense. Secondly. Why couldnt the employee go in the truck and get the item when I was there the first time. These people need to get better at customer service. If on the truck. Go the extra mile for the customer.

The older guy that works in the service dept definitely needs more training with his customer service, whether it be over the phone or in person. Most recently, i was there a couple of days ago to check on the price of a couple of parts, and he refused to write the prices down, stating that I work too hard to be writing information down for you. Totally unacceptable!

Overall fine. I thought it was suppose to be free shipping over $48. I spent well over but had to pay shipping anyway.

They pretty much have everything youll ever need, or at least can order it for you. Theres typically weekly or monthly deals. Customer service is great.

I go to this store only when I must. I found that the employees are usually grumpy and really do not want to be bothered. I also discovered that after buying my Honda generator from them, their servicing is only changing the oil; they dont even stock the air filters and o-rings as the manual says to change. The technician told me they never change anything, but only blow the filters out. The place has some neat stuff, but it is not inexpensive and you really have to watch what you buy...and you are completely on your own because the employees neither care, nor know.

Of the trailers on the lot, most were damaged, no working lights, missing paint, or were still stacked in shipping condition.We tried to buy a trailer but apparently us being there was a huge burden to the salesman who handed us off to the manager. The manager was reluctant to help us or address any of our concerns about the minor damage on the trailer we were looking at. A cracked taillight lens they could have swapped out with a screwdriver in 30 seconds was too daunting a task for them.Once we were happy with the trailers condition and ready to purchase it, we couldnt find the manager or a salesman anywhere, we were told someone would be right out to help us. We watched the manager take his vest off and leave the store, same for the salesman. We waited for almost 15 minutes and never saw the other salesman that was promised. We finally just walked out of the store and went somewhere else and bought our trailer.I know that a $1500 purchase isnt a huge deal to an organization this size, but thats a sizable purchase for my family and would like to at least be treated well when I shop somewhere.

BUYER BEWARE! I walked in the day before a snowstorm needing a new battery for my portable generator. Naively thought I’d be in and out in a few minutes, but 20 minutes later, I walked out after one of the absolute worst customer service experiences of my life. I’ll spare you the details, but suffice it to say: The employees don’t know their stuff, and they sure as heck don’t care about actually trying to help you. It’s like I didn’t exist. Never going back, ever.

If this was the first time it happened Id write it off, but this is the 3rd time Ive been in this site and experienced much of the same. I only went here today because of convenience and necessity. Walk in with 2 employees by the door on a phone. Both looked up at me and I smiled and nodded. No response verbally or physically that I even existed. Went to the register to check out. Three employees behind the counter, two with their backs turned to me, one on their cell phone. The light was on, so I walked up to one register. No response from the cashier. She started typing on the register, no explanation of why she was doing what she was doing so I figured she was ringing me up. Nope. After about 30 seconds she printed a receipt for whatever it was she was doing, then, without looking at me, phone number. No please, no hello. I know there are some employees that arent useless there. I did see one gentleman helping another person. But it seems most dont care you are there, or even exist. I will not be back to northern tool unless I literally have to go, which I dont think well ever happen. My suggestion, go somewhere else.

The midlothian store is one of my favorite stores. They have great customer service, especially when it comes to the shop. The technician, Dylan, was very helpful in making sure I knew what I was supposed to do to ensure I ran my Generator to its full potential.

Totally frustrated... I called ahead to see if they had my scaffolding work boards in stock. They say, Yes sir, we have eight... Drive two hours to find they only have two.. Most have 10 fingers, they should be able to count to at least ten.

Had an extra hard tool to find.

We stayed in a 2br. Was cleaned and well equipped. Staff was very nice and reliable. They will try to slip in timeshare, but its totally up to you. It was nice stay, will definitely go back

Purchase a pneumatic tool earlier this afternoon and the tool turned out to be defective. Im going to mention the fact That 2 sales associates were sitting in the front of the store and had to page someone to unlock the bin where the tools are stored. After about 5 minutes I asked if someone was retrieving the tool for me. Her response was I pages someone thats all I can do After waiting about another 5 minutes I hunted down someone that was able to retrieve the tool for me.Jump To later this afternoon. I had to return the tool because it was defective and needed it replaced. A short chubby lady with long blonde hair gave me the rudest attitude I wish I would have caught her name to report it to corporate office, and because I did not have a receipt did not want to refund me. OK, at this point after working an 11 hour day I asked her if I could simply buy a new one and return the defective one tomorrow with the receipt. We cannot do that . The manager finally came up and was helpful but the service in the store is absurd. There are so many other places to buy tools and at a much cheaper price with better service but it just so happened this was the only store that had the tool I need it in stock.

Customer service needs to tighten up. The lady at the counter this afternoon 9/30/18 seemed as if she wanted to be anywhere but at work. I prefer to spend my hard earned money at places that appreciate my business/money.

Atrocious customer service. My wife went in to purchase a rake and potentially a leaf blower. She was wanting to be pointed in the direction of the leaf blowers, hailed a customer service rep by saying I have a quick question to which the rep responded I have a quick question right here while pointing at his phone.This took my wife by surprise and she responded with some colorful vernacular. Either way, a quick 2 seconds to be pointed in the right direction would have garnered this business a sale. Instead, clearly a person at home has priority vs. someone ready to spend money in the store. Even a Ill be with you in a moment would have been more respectful than dismissing a customer in the store. Unsat.

Theft. Placed order. Didnt receive. Call them and was told it had shipped and was signed for. I told them the name was not my signature, or any of my employees. They said that was all they could do. I told them good luck, I could do more. VISA returned my money and you might want to keep yours.

They have a decent assortment of home equipment & gear, but not a wide variety. I love Northern. They send out loyalty coupons & run sales. Small enough to zip in & out, close parking, easy lot for commercial vehicles too. Good wheelbarrows, lawn carts & Powerhorse chippers. We buy small items too like motion lights, boots, outdoor slippers at Christmas, ant bait, spray paint, glues, cat cage for ferral cat problem, tarps, new wheels or small tires, candy. Good job Northern!

Went to this store to buy stuff for my small landscaping business. They had all I was looking for and more, however, when I went to check out the woman at the cash register was less than happy to help me. After we got everything rung up I went to pay with a business credit card (MasterCard) and the credit machine wouldnt take the card. She didnt offer to try to figure out a way to make the sale or put any effort into it for me. Wasted trip to Northern Tool.....

I bought two Quincy air compressors and so much more stuff from them .... I just bought my other compressor call them if they can have it ready for me and they did Im happy satisfied with their service

I just saw a guy get hollered at by a sales associate for asking about the difference of the online price vs the store price. The male employee started screaming our cashiers do not know the online price unreal. No professionalism, not even common courtesy. I put my items back and left. I will not patronage a business that screams at customers for asking a question.

This store lacks customer service. Good luck if you need help finding something. Go in store several times a month, one night i went into store about 45 minutes before they closed. Employee came up to me as i walked in the door told me they were closing in 45 minutes. Did not ask me what i needed or did i need help. Just said we are closing in 45 mins. Before i made it to the back of store they turned off half the lights. Which made hard to find what i was looking for since the items where all mixed up on the shelf.

Their products have always been good quality. Others are right though that its hard to find out if an item online is available in stock at one of their stores, saving you the shipping charge. Other websites, e.g. auto parts stores, Sears, Walmart, etc. can tell you which stores have an item in stock - seems like it would be easy for Northern Tools website to do the same.

I could tell by the look of disgust on your face that I was truly the least of your concerns. I apologize...I didnt realize that your marine grade grease was in a totally different section than the rest of your grease...I should be more attentive when shopping at Northern. I also want to apologize to the clerk that rang up my purchase. I am truly sorry for interrupting your conversation with another associate (not sure what it was about) and I especially want to apologize for speaking directly to you and asking how you were doing. I wasnt sure if you were ready for me to slide my card and hand you over my money. I should have known that Northern associates dont have time for small talk, chit-chat...I only hope that they will invite me back soon so I might have a chance to prove myself worthy of their attention.
