I called yesterday about trading a self owned 50lb CO2 bottle for a smaller mix bottle for mig. The gentleman I spoke to said itd be no problem and it should be a straight across swap since the bigger bottle value equates to a smaller bottle filled, he even looked up the prices. I drive out of my way today, passing 3 other welding supply stores because me and my brother having been going to Cal Tool for the past 20 years. I get there, and since I didnt get the guys names I talked to yesterday, they didnt want to honor what I was told. They said maybe i called another store, which i know i didnt, i even double checked my phone just in case. So then they wanted to just trade the big bottle for an empty smaller bottle straight across and Id have to pay for the gas. How does that make any sense.... Then once they checked my bottle and seen it was one of their newer self owned bottles in great shape, they said theyd give me half off the gas. What a joke..... I plan on taking my business elsewhere. Thanks

California Tool and Welding Supply is my go to place for all of my Welding Supplies and Gas. Everyone behind the desk is friendly and courteous, ready to answer your questions or take a moment to research the answers. We purchase our welding gloves, welding rod, soap stone, grinding discs, grinding stones, torches, oxygen, acetylene, and even our propane from them. I also like that its a family owned business, they understand small businesses and offer the best, affordable, solutions.

They tell you different prices over the phone and tell you once your there it will be 45 bucks higher than what they said. Staff was rude, they didnt even have the courtesy of chaining my tanks back to the cart. The only good thing is the store looks nice and is well stocked. I wont be going back.

The staff is great. They dont have the typical welding supply snarky attitude. They were kaid back and verry helpful. I recommend this place over the big name places any day.

The prices of gas at this place are amazing. I promote this place wherever I go and the subject turns to where I get my co2 tanks filled. Dont hesitate come over. You wont regret it.

Horrible customer service, avoid like the plague.Im brand new to welding and they took advantage of me, in addition to that they made promises they failed to stand behind.I walked in there to buy a tank for my new Mig Welder last Saturday (7/15/17), I wanted a small tank to fit on my small welding cart from Harbor Freight.The person who sold me the tank, Jose, talked me into a 122 CFT tank.Upon finally assembling the welding cart when I had some free time I went to put the tank in it and it was way too big Im worried it is going to tip over.This is extremely dangerous so I put it back against the wall.On Thursday July 20th, I called up right after I got off work and spoke to a man named Billy.He said we normally dont do tank returns (which is weird because it does not state this on the receipt nor was it explained to me when I purchased the tank. In addition to that, the seal was still intact as it hasnt been used yet. I didnt tell him this because I just looked on my receipt right now.) but he promised me that he would be able to do something to downgrade me and make the price right. I was happy about this and told him Id come in Saturday as its the only day I have off. After this he stated he wouldnt be in on Saturday but he would talk to the other guys in the shop and explain the situation and to make it right for me.Two days later Saturday arrives, I get up early and make my 30 minute commute (one way) to California Tool & Welding.Upon arriving, I get greeted by a man (forgot to get his name, but he had short hair, sides shaved and a tattoo on his arm) who explained that they dont do exchanges. I explained to him the seal is still in tact and the tank hasnt even been touched and how I talked to Billy.At this point it seemed like he got frustrated with me like he didnt want to deal with me and he said all he can do is downgrade me and thats it which is not what Billy had promised, Billy said theyd find a way to make it right. I explained to him once more that Billy had said he talked to you guys and was going to make it right. At this point the man interrupted me and said I heard you, I dont want to hear it again in a rude tone. I suggested he tries to call Billy and he sighed and seemed annoyed with me but he tried to call Billy a few times. Billy didnt answer and he said he isnt picking up. Do you want the small tank or no? in a way of basically saying take either one of the tanks and get out of my face.I am totally disappointed in how this place has 5 star rating and how the employee had acted towards me with his tones and attitude.Im also disappointed in the fact I drove an hour total and wasted my time and gas because I was promised to be taken care of and this company failed to stand behind their word.I feel this company lacks integrity and fails to honor what they say.I left my phone number with the company in case they decide to actually honor what they had said and take care of their customers, otherwise Id rather sell this tank on Craigslist and take my business to an Airgas or Matheson store which has horrible ratings as they dont bribe their customers with a free T-Shirt for a review but I can probably expect the same level of customer service from either of them and I dont have to drive an hour round trip for everything.
