I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the service is at this location! I accidentally reserved a truck here, not realizing it was Williamson Rd. I usually rent from Hershberger, which is alright but has easy access to 581. Im so glad I rented from here!!! The agent was helpful, friendly and made sure I had all the time and tools I needed, without being pushy. Best service agent Ive had with Uhaul ever!It is a smaller location and I had always been concerned about the parking but they have the access well planned out by using the side street. No backing is necessary.The one thing I will say is that whomever is doing the marketing for Uhaul is some sort of genius. They sell tape labeled for different rooms. The package COMES WITH A SHARPIE...? Brilliant. Are you too lazy to write bedroom on that box? No problem. The tape is labeled, but heres an extra sharpie anyway.I wish Id thought of that!

The available trucks, trailers, equipment are numerous. The owner is friendly and quick to get you on your way.

We are pulling a 12 foot uhaul trailer for 2k miles on a military move with 2 small kids and a dog, about 8 hours into the trip we realize the lights on the trailer aren’t working, we first stopped at a neighborhood location where they were unable to help so we had to call roadside assistance, which pointed us to this location. All I can say is thank goodness they did. The owner, James, was just about to leave when he got the call we were coming by so he stayed to help us and he was able to figure out the problem (a bad job of wiring by a different uhaul location) and he was able to rewire it and get us in our way. He even was nice enough to get borrow a Jack from the nearby auto shop to get the fully loaded trailer off. He went above and beyond for us and we are so thankful for his wisdom and customer service.

Very good place to rent. Enterprise down the street wont rent to me because I dont have a credit card and when I jumped all the hoops at Enterprise to use my bank issued debit card with plenty of money in my account, they still wouldnt rent to me.Process was simple to rent a van. Staff friendly, helpfull, courteous, professional.

This review is to document two recent experiences. Travelling across state I needed to drop off trailers. One of which I had originally agreed to drop off in Bedford County Virginia. Upon arrival there were no locations available to receive the trailer due to size. U-Haul at Williamson Rd made space for the trailer and took care of trailer. On the second occasion they were again available on the weekend to help me out. The staff on both occasions were professional and friendly.

Easy peasy. The guy that works here is very well mannered and helpful and did not haggle me into a bunch of things I didnt need. The rates are half the price as local competition and they usually have what I need . The process is easy and quick.

I have been to a few different locations here in Roanoke and they are the easiest to check out and check in and always have great equipment to rent out.040116 update: Used them again and it was the fastest in and out ever. So glad they are near me.

Storage unit was robbed. Locks were not broken, but everything worth anything was gone. So much for their surveillance, the place is a joke.

Equipment was clean, but well maintained is a different story. The steering in the 17 truck I rented made the vehicle legitimately difficult to drive. I felt as if I was a hazard on the road because of constantly having to fight the steering wheel to stay inside a single lane.Other than that, the service was great and the guy working the desk was very friendly. I was able to get in and get out quickly even though there were customers ahead of me.Really, the only bad thing I can say about this location is the mechanical condition of the truck I rented. I fear if the truck was rented to someone more unfamiliar with driving a large vehicle they could have caused an accident.

Do not go here! General Manager scammed us for damage charges. The top of the truck we used (17 truck with 11 clearance), had a crack in one of the seams.... Which was repaired already with dried silicone. We had the truck for less than 8 hours, didnt even go under any bridges or anything to hit it, and even if we did we wouldnt have tried to repair it with silicone, and even then.... The silicone wouldnt have even had time to dry.Just a total scam. Complained to corporate, will be making a claim with BBB as well.

Great facility! The people are super nice and helpful, and the equipment is always in great shape! I will go out of my way to rent at this location in the future.

I have to rent a cargo van once every few months so I consider myself a regular. James and his staff have always been friendly and accomadating. Usually always have a cargo van available either last weekend or first weekend of the month which I know are busiest. Vans have always been clean and low mileage.Had a very minor parking lot accident with another vehicle which was my fault. The Uhaul van wasnt damaged. Takes some fancy googling to find a phone number to actually talk to someone with their insurance company. Once I got somebody the guy was really nice and told me not to sweat it, evertyhing would be covered.

Got a hitch installed here. Took 3 hours for the install even though I made an appointment. There weren’t enough staff for the store, and the wiring wasn’t done correctly so had to take it to a mechanic and get it fixed.

The gentlemen here were courteous and very knowledgeable about what they were doing. Good prices for moving trucks!

Employee behind the counter was not in a good mood, said he had been getting cussed out all day, and used profanity towards us. He informed us that we got lucky because the trailer i was supposed to get got extended, so he was about to call me to tell me there was no trailer for me to rent, when one just got returned out of the blue. This was not the scheduled pickup location, it was an hour out of my way (one direction, two hours total). i was informed of this change of pickup location one day before my departure. I made the reservation 2 plus weeks in advance and the associate behind the counter informed me that there are no measures taken to get rental items where needed, so in other words they just book everything, take all reservations, with no reassurance there will actually be a unit available, which is a terrible business practice, and leaves all kinds of avenues for failure open. I had multiple people travel with me over 5 hours each way to help me move, if there had not been a trailer available, the entire weekend would have been disastrous. This location had no furniture pads I had reserved either. Lights on the trailer didnt work, had to go to another location to get the pads. Just ridiculous.
