I am not handy and dont look forward to going to hardware stores - especially the big ones where I am often ignored, patronized, or spoken rudely to by new (high turnover) staff who dont have a clue and would clearly rather be *anyplace* else. The people at Meyer seem to like their work! They have always been available, helpful, knowledgeable and seem to enjoy sharing their expertise. I always learn something useful and leave in a better mood than I came in. Christopher in Paints is outstanding, but all that Ive run across are great. Im so glad theyre near by. They have a huge inventory - never had to go elsewhere once I found this place.

Unlike the big box store, I was able to get one on one help from the guy at the paint counter and help with exactly the type of paint brush I should use to paint my kitchen cabinets. It was great to have that type of help with my project and to be given some real direction on what I need. Will definitely be visiting again even though they are no where near close to my home.

So I had already visited Home Depot and Lowes to have a piece of glass cut and a storm window repaired. No service at all. It was quite a different story with Mayers hardware. Very helpful, knowledgeable, and respectful. I felt at home which is rare these days.

Very unfortunate. Great place and great customer service. A little more expensive than your big box stores, but I love to support local. Ive disagreed with the face covering nonsense for over a year, but have complied. The CDC announced 2 days ago that vaccinated individuals do NOT need to wear face masks indoors any longer. I can no longer give my money to businesses that will ask me to put on a muzzle (that is no longer needed according to our government!) Before they ask me if I need help. Very disappointed.

Really helpful and friendly staff in a cozy store without the corporate feel.I have to knock off a star because I always have trouble finding where things are there. Maybe Ill get it sorted eventually, but its a bit of a chaotic layout. The employees are great at helping you find things and providing advice if you need it though.

Personally, I love to BBQ and even though I live in Farmington, 25 minutes from them, Im more than happy to drive there to get everything I need for outdoor cookin. Everyone that works here is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. You owe it too yourself to bypass the big box store, and check this store out.

In the past, Ive found the staff to be helpful and friendly. During the pandemic, Ive visited several times to find staff unmasked, including the manager (owner?). And not just behind the counter, but out on the floor. Only a few weeks after my last visit I saw they had to shut down due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the store. Well, duh.Its a shame to see a local business I used to respect go down this route. Its such a simple thing to wear a mask and enforce this from the top down among employees. I understand not wanting to police customers. But when the management is signaling that they dont care about public health, it makes me question what else they believe in and support.So, sadly, Ill not be spending my money there going forward.

Totally unsatisfied with my trip to Mayer hardware this past week. The cashier was on their phone and inattentive. Additionally none of the staff where masks.

I called about 15 paint stores before calling them to find a product that has been out of stock. He told me it was out in their store too but he informed me of an est. delivery date and also informed me on another product to use incase it doesn’t show up. He was very patient and kind. I have never been to this store but because of how kind and informative this guy was I am definitely going there even if they don’t have the product I’ve been looking for.

Amazing experience, found an item on line and made the trek from Newark, NY (after an appointment. And it was like being a kid in a candy shop. Lots of great stuff. And the employees are so helpful. Looks like such a tiny place but it is so much bigger on the inside. New favorite place to get hardware.

Old School 🏫 Hardware Store and knowledgeable staff, the reason I go here first.

We’ve been going out of the way to go here for over 15 years. They have knowledgeable people who will help you work through a project. There are always more than enough people working and they actually ask you if you need help. It’s fantastic to have an old fashioned hardware store with people who really treat the customer as king. Once you go here, you will leave those big box places behind.

I had gone to Home Depot to get paint and did not have a good experience there. I went to Meyer Hardware and two associates helped me with my purchase. They gave me everything I needed and I went home to paint my bathroom. It looks fantastic! Benjamin Moore paint is the best! Sherwin Williams didn’t help me either. From now on I’m shopping at Meyer. Much better than the big box stores. Thanks again for great service!

Super advice and help. I was repainting a concrete breezeway floor and got the right paint that covered perfectly with the right edging brush and nap roller. Turned out great!

Having employees mock customers based on political alignments, and refusing to help customers because of it is bad ethics.Also having employees who rarely wear masks is also unethical. Prices are not bad, but lowes is a better option. Better ethics.

When I live a store and think to myself: Such nice people, I know it is a place to return to. I have been to Mayer many times over the years, always left with that feeling.

Just walking into this place makes me happy. The staff are super helpful and welcoming. Have a problem with an unclear solution? They will help you figure it out.Their inventory is remarkable. I typically come in for some pretty specific items... M4x1.25 stainless button head cap screws? Got it. Pull string switch for 3 speed ceiling fan? Got it. Masonry saw blade for jig saw? Got it.Also this is the only place I know that can actually color match paint. Lowes and Home Depot both failed miserably while this place was spot on, right down to the sheen.Highly recommended.

Had the best time picking out Benjamin Moore interior paint for the bedrooms and kitchen. The staff was really helpful and knowledgeable. After my kitchen was finished I had the urge to do some canning and found all the equipment I needed to make marmalade as holiday gifts. The day I went, they happened to have their holiday open house. 30 % off everything in the store. 😊plus they were serving fancy food and cookies.

I love this place! They have stuff I have looked all over for and finally tired them as a last resort. Found it there and have been going ever since. You never have to look for an employee for help. And if they somehow do not, you will be back for something else, and they are more than willing to help however they can. Hands down the best family hardware store in town.

One time an employee even made suggestions where I would be better off shopping, explaining they could get the item i needed or come up with something that would work, but because it wasn’t in their regular stock, I would get a much better price elsewhere.Also appreciate the popcorn and coffee for customers. And when I lived in that neighborhood, they put out a wonderful snack and dessert buffet for the annual holiday neighborhood stroll to meet the residents who came in during the open house. Just a wonderful, locally owned business that really serves their customers!

Staff was not friendly and was not helpful. The guy tried to up sell me on on a car key claiming the one I had wouldn’t work. I went to a different hardware store and they got it to work.

Always a great experience stopping by Mayer. They have an EXTENSIVE selection of items for practically any type of home project! The place itself is pretty cool as well. They have two buildings they linked together through the alley. Old creaky floors gives you that old time feel. Always plenty of people around to ask questions and help you out. I had a tricky plumbing job today and the expert staff at Mayers guided me through it every step of the way. It was great to have professionals help me with what I needed. If I had gone to one of the big box stores today, there is no way I would have completed the job. This is a real hardware store! All the employees are friendly and knowledgeable.

I went to dig out my grandparents. I parked in the parking lot of your store on Blossom Road here in Rochester, since the roads were still covered. When I explained what was happening, they told me I could leave my car there, and they made sure I had their phone numbers in case of an issue. Later in the day, they called me to check up on me. They were so incredibly nice and helpful and I am so grateful for all they did!

Everyone else has already commented on the great customer service, and the surprisingly large selection of merchandise for a store of this size. Its almost like the tardis: larger inside than it is outside. My favorite section is the fasteners room, where the selection of high quality nuts, bolts, screws, washers, etc. is hard to beat. As others have also mentioned, the prices are comparable to the big box stores. Lots of pros shop here.

Needed a special kind of lightbulb for my job and they had in stock. Gentleman that answered phone was pleasant and very helpful, i like the down home feel of their business. Great place and will use again!

My go-to hardware store. This store is small but dense and has everything that you need. There are usually lots of employees and all offer to help you find what youre looking for. Once I brought back a rake that had broken quickly and it was replaced no questions asked or receipt provided.

They have free popcorn! One time I ate ribs off the Green Egg grill too! They are always so helpful even when you have a small question or project.
