Great place, the kid at the gun counter is super knowledgeable and helpful. All of the staff here is super nice and always helpful. One of the only places who doesnt really gouge on ammo and firearms and they also have great deal on their website.

Store is good as far as a sporting goods store but staff is not well trained compared to other sporting good stores. Signed up for comprehensive hunt/fish license First “cashier” had no idea what was needed and had to call in supervisor. Supervisor entered my info directly from my drivers license but managed to enter the wrong city name on my license. This resulted in not receiving my tags and multiple calls and emails to SCDNR for resolution. I will not be shopping here ever again for any sporting goods due to the amount of time and opportunity wasted.

Tiffany at Academy Sports was so incredibly helpful. When I couldn’t find what I wanted, she walked me back and showed me. Then, when there was a line when we returned to the checkout area, she checked me out herself so I wouldn’t have to wait! What a friendly, knowledgeable, professional and kind young woman. I will not forget the way she treated me…and I will be back!

Good price on deer corn and a bunch of it in stock at the Rock Hill Store. Had some nice ground blinds and ladder stands.

This place really needs to get some employees with some common sense. When you buy a gift for someone and make a special request to leave the item in the box instead of building it I expect to pick it up in the box. Now I have to figure out a way to haul a completely built grill that was meant for someone else. Thanks academy for not listening to special instructions.

After shopping here today, I’d have to say that one specific employee here was extremely unprofessional and rude. As I was walking in today I saw a worker, named Donna, berating and insulting one of the workers in the store, being extremely loud and causing a disturbance. I’ve noticed her attitude towards customers before and there is no reason for a worker to have this kind of attitude. I don’t know if she is just miserable but I’d rather go to any other store in this town than have to be helped by Donna. The younger staff are always helpful though, and I very much appreciate them.

Hunting department gun counter employee (male) was very rude and unprofessional, manager also came up with the same unprofessional attitude. I’m also totally disgusted and witnessed them deny and wrongly accuse other customers as well! Managers name was David …. I witnessed David give out bad phone number to corporate that the customer wanted.

Its ok if you know what your going for. But if you just what to shop and enjoy yourself I would go to Bass Pro Shop.

Looked at online inventory. Saw items were in stock at Rock Hill store. Drove fifteen miles to store and found items not in stock. Asked store staff and was told, “Whoever does online inventory, does a terrible job.we have to face frustrated customers everyday.”He believes they put reloading items as in stock to lure people fraudulently in to the store. He said they hadn’t had my items in any weeks.Buyer beware. Scam alert.

This Academy is nice but I feel like they never have much on the shelves. Bought a kayak here and a bench press both times they offered to help load everything up.

Denied return of items with receipt due to over 60 days. Yet, when I called customer service, I found out that without a receipt I would have been able to get a store credit for cheapest price within the last 90 days ..... Confusing. So technically in order to get anything back for items I clearly purchased, I need to lie and say i dont have a receipt.... The customer service rep laughed and said well......

Very nice people. Employees are required to wear masks now, but patrons are only recommended to. Dont be surprised when you actually see a strangers face while in the store.

Cant go wrong with Academy! They always have great prices and a good selection to choose from. Its almost like a discount store but if you are not careful you could end up spending $54 on Crocs. I like the mixture, not to bougie, not to cheap.

I go here to get ammunition and propane mostly. But they have lots of outdoor equipment. I would recommend always go here first for all your sporting and outdoor equipment

I went to Academy looking for womens golf clothes and was disappointed in the selection. There was a sad selection of mens shirts and nothing for women.

There was an issue with an online order. I went to the store and the first two employees I encountered did not want to help and had no clue. My five stars represents the person that did help. David is a team leader and he went above and beyond to get the customer service that was spot on. If I was ever in a position to hire a person, he would be top of my list! David if you see this, you rocked! Keep up the amazing work and keep the good attitude you had as well!

I had the single worst customer service experience with Terence at the sporting goods counter. I had a question about the location of a product, and he dismissed us without looking up from his computer. When I politely asked for clarification he somehow manged to roll his eyes so far back he got a great look at his brain. Every word that came out of his mouth permiated utter contempt and annoyance.I will be taking my business else where from now on and will never return to an Academy Sports. I also have actively begun encouraging others to do the same and will do so going forward.

They were out of football pants, only had small sizes... I asked when a truck with football pants would comes in and the sale person said she didnt know...

I was put on hold for 10 minutes and then put on hold again......very frustrated because I always buy Academy....Trey the manager, picked up the phone and was very concerned. He did his best to make the situation better and made it all good.....he represents Academy well and now I will go to the Rock Hill store....not just because of Trey, but that helps, knowing he stands behind his customers. Always good customer service. I’ve bought a few of my firearms from this location, and there always a pleasure to deal with. Just bought one from them yesterday, the process was smooth and quick, me and Roy even had some good conversation as he carried my firearm up to the front for check out. There clothing selection is great as well, so if you need some gear at a good price in your in this area stop in there good people especially Roy he’s a good man.

Academy is usually the go to place for all outdoors needs, but today a lot of the shelves were empty. Their selection of holsters were slim and they had only a selection of crumbs for ammunition of all ammo calibers. Everything else seemed to be stocked decently aside from bicycles, which were completely gone. The staff was friendly, helpful, and quick to get what I needed. Will go back again hopefully as soon as the shelves are freshly stocked!

A nice place to shop

Havent been here in a while, but was looking for a treadmill and they happened to have 2 in stock. I must have passed/interacted with 12-15 store employees, and they were all EXTREMELY nice, SUPER friendly and ABSOLUTELY willing to help in any way. I was blown away at how friendly everyone was. They are doing customer experience right. And the guy who actually got the treadmill for me gave me some tips on setting it up. I will 100% go there again when looking for sport/fitness equipment and clothing.

Great store and good customer service. Little pricey but they have all name brand products so it is worth it. Also, I have purchased 3 handguns from this location and the process is always easy and quick.

Amazing for fishing supplies and outdoors equipment. They also sell clothes and shoes. You can even buy a grill from the many selections they have. Academy sells hunting blinds, knifes, guns, camping supplies, and bows. They sell gym and sports equipment as well. They always have low price s for their products and often have sales. This is a great store. They are VERY AGGRESSIVE with how they price match. I have really not had a bad experience here. I would recommend this place because it has so much merchandise for so many different hobbies packed in one spot.

Couldnt find this trampoline or any other one anywhere close. The Rock Hill store had one and sold it to me online and then went above and beyond to rering the transaction so we could receive a first responders discount. Great people and great service.
