I love this place!! The baristas are very nice and friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxing and laid back. They have two great locations and I really enjoy their espresso.

It took them 5 min and 55 seconds to pour a pre made cold brew. Think about that. Not the place to stop for a quick cup of coffee on your way to work. Perfect place to come if you got a lot of time on your hand.

A nice, clean place with friendly staff. Attractive exterior, cool and softly lit interior. In fact, everything was fit for a five star review except for the coffee. Maybe it was the roast, maybe it was just old, but it was undrinkably bitter, even with twice the sugar I usually use. Not sure if it was one among several roasts, no one asked which roast I wanted so maybe it was just one. But it tastes so bitter and I feel jagged so I suspect it has been sitting there for a while. Not looking forward to going back but I feel like I owe them a second chance after a bad review. But I will try.

Stopped into Railway Coffee after my cousins graduation for an afternoon caffeine fix. Staff was helpful and friendly. This coffee shop has a cool warehouse style design aesthetic.

Railway is the best coffee house I’ve ever gone to! Service is amazing, coffee and food is great, and the vibe is awesome. It is one of my favorite places to go get some work done!

Stopped on our way back to Texas. Convenient location, clean atmosphere, friendly service, delicious coffee! Hubs had the Mexican Mocha. I had a hot Soccer Mom. 😜 Recommend both!

I tried the steamroller coffee, the blueberry muffin, and the chocolate muffin and they were fresh & delicious! I am not a fan of strong coffee, and this was the perfect cup for me. My husband is a Starbucks lover and thought they forgot the coffee in his drink. If you like it strong you will want to order extra shots of expresso.

Ordered a simple caramel latte and what I got was one of the tastiest Ive ever had! We didnt drink our drinks there but it looked to be a clean spacious area to enjoy your drink and perhaps get some schoolwork done.

Im re posting an update. The service has gotten better, however not as good as it could be. Oh, watch out for the curled-up rug, its a trip hazzard. We pointed this out last month and it was ignored by the employees.

I really liked Railway a few months ago, before COVID. Unfortunately their service and quality have taken a huge nose-dive. I went in last week, ordered two breakfast sandwiches, a scone and a cappuccino. We were the first in line - no one in front of us. The cappuccino came out quickly but tasted like burnt coffee grounds and I couldnt bring myself to finish it. 15 minutes after ordering the food, I was notified we dont have croissants, can I get you something else? (It took 15 minutes to figure that out?) I tell him a bagel would be fine. He says, Itll be out in 2 seconds! 10 minutes later I get three small paper bags. One has a lump of hardened bread (the scone?), and the other two contain okay breakfast sandwiches. Value your time? Like coffee? Want something more than a lump of bread in a paper sack when you order a scone? I recommend going somewhere else.

Always nice to me when I come in with my complicated order at 6 am. They always make it a point to ask how I am and make conversation even at the drive through. Its much appreciated & the green teal latte is always amazing. Also love their breakfast sandwiches

Had to check out John Lukes coffee shop, (Railway) the service was great, the coffee was good, the breakfast sandwiches were dry, must recommend jellies, mayo, mustard and other condiments for customers. The atmosphere had great vibes.

Edit: My original review was two years ago and its time to update it. This is still the best coffee in town, but the bar is quite low on that. There is no longer a small atmosphere at this location but it has grown and doesnt have the homey feel it once had. At moments I feel that some staff are less than cordgial to me. Because of all of this Im lowering my review to 3 stars from its original 5.It has a small atmosphere that fits into perfectly into the atmosphere of the town! This rivals the quality of the coffee they serve! Best coffee in town!

Went there for waffles but they no longer sell them. Also they were out of bacon for their sandwiches and plain Bagels. Also kind of pricey. But it had a nice atmosphere.

Open on Sunday, has a Slayer, low-key modern vibe with COVID distance seating. Breakfast sandwich will not disappoint and reasonable prices to boot. Service was quick.

The bagels are very dry, and they took 15 minutes to make a single bagel. Their menu is pretty small and very expensive for such low-quality food.

If you want a more modern feeling coffee shop, this is the one you want to go to. Same great coffee from the main location, but a little bit smaller and quieter. Very minimal atmosphere, great for focusing. Awesome drive through as well.

This a neat coffee shop in a corner building downtown across from the railroad tracks. Luckily the trains usually run later at night. This spot was badly needed after a tornado that landed in this town ripped the one across from the library. Luckily, Rustons fine library was spare and this store sprung from the wrecks of that storm.

This is one of my favorite study spots.

Dropped in on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was quite busy! The staff was very friendly and the coffee was awesome and didnt have to sell a body part to buy a couple cups. The homemade baked good were a nice touch as well. Will be back!

Great coffee. Good service staff. I was disappointed that they didn’t have any cold brew available when I went, I’ve had it recommended to me from friends. They moved to a new, much bigger building 3 weeks ago, so this location is very new, spacious, bright lit, great for socializing. I should have tried the goodies, the cookies looked delicious.

Staff is pleasant and helpful, the atmosphere is quiet and cozy, a great place to sit and chat with friends. I had a Mocha and a sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich. I really enjoyed it.

OMG!! Stumbled upon this place when dropping my baby off at Grambling. Reminds me of our coffee favorites in San Diego. My daughter is going to LOVE this place. Better Buzz, Lightbulb Coffee and Communal Coffee have been my top 3 in San Diego but now Railway Coffee is my #1period. Unfortunate that I can only get it once a year during college drop off. Oh and the breakfast sandwiches are good too. Will be back before we return home.

Ordered a cappuccino for myself and a hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin or my son. Got the drinks in a few minutes, but waited over half an hour for the muffin. I patiently waited at the pick up counter but not one of the staff made eye contact with me or assisted me. I had to go get in the order line to finally be able to ask the staff where the muffin was. Super disappointing. It would be understandable if it was busy, but it wasn’t packed at all. And the cappuccino was not good at all - I’ll take gas station coffee over their cappuccino.

If you care about your coffee, this is the shop for you. They roast in house and really care about their product. A rotating seasonal drink menu always offers interesting new options. The staff is friendly, the vibe is chill, and the food is pretty good too. Definitely the best shop in town, and worth checking out!

Great place for a Sunday morning with the kids. Abby makes an incredible latte and always makes my kids feel special. Jack made a great breakfast sandwich, and the biscuit is delicious. First time in downtown Ruston and this stop was delightful. Helpful baristas and delicious coffee. I got the maple pumpkin spice latte. Indoors is a beautiful space to study and hang out. My only complaint is that it was almost $6 for my small coffee. ♥️

Locally owned by some families. Location is ideal for students as it is right off campus, but also centrally located for anyone to grab something. Recently added more food and drink items at the store. By far the best priced and quality coffee in town.A second location is at the intersection of 167 North and E Kentucky later this year. That location has a drive-thru.

Great prices, great ambience, great coffee. First cool day this fall dealt quite a crowd this AM and Railway handled it like a dream while being put through the paces. Belgian Waffles looked awesome as well as the Locomotive breakfast sandwich. Will definitely be back.

Have gotten the blueberry muffin here several times. The muffin is warm and delicious. Not a coffee drinker, so cant say anything about the quality of the coffee. The place has a very warm and cozy atmosphere.

Great place for coffee lovers. Small place. Few tables, but a nice outdoor seating as well as bar seating inside. Good WiFi. Coffee is the best in town, as well as the best prices. They just started roasting their coffee in house too. Only complaint is the size of the building. It can get crowded, but if youre just getting your coffee and leaving, its excellent. Wait times are usually short.

Awesome building, friendly staff, absolutely awful coffee. Espresso cost three times what it should have, and it was served lukewarm and tasted shockingly awful. Staff replaced it with a dark roast that was lukewarm, weak, and undrinkable. Person in line behind me had grounds in her coffee. Staff refunded me. There’s a Starbucks one exit down, you’ll have better luck there.

I have been so disappointed with Railway over the past few weeks. With the change of management/ownership, I feel like Railway has become less than ideal. Its just not the same as it once was. As someone who was invested in Railway culture and frequented all locations, even the OG spot, its been a sad loss for the Ruston community. I have visited several times and each time, my drink has tasted horrible. On top of this, with the loss of most of the staff, it does not feel as inviting and warm as it once was originally. The new baristas are still learning how to make basic coffee drinks. Maybe in 6 months itll be better.

Best coffee shop in town and likely the entire region! A coffee connoisseurs shop with everyman prices for a regular cup of Joe. While you can expect to pay more for different brews and styles, they all make for a great experience. Additionally they offer a short selection of great snacks and breakfast items.

So grateful to have this coffee shop so close to home. Railway was our very first stop when we moved to Ruston a year ago. Wonderful staff, family owned, handcrafted coffee. Cant beat it. A must for anyone in Ruston.

How can I say this nice. It was a the worst coffee. Ordered a large cup and if thats a large Im insulted. Tasted like hot bitter water.

The coffee looked like mud and left a burned coffee taste on me and other guests mouth.When we complained we were told that’s how it supposed to taste and offered a glass of water to wash down the horrible bitter taste. No refund given.

I love this place! If youre going to a coffee shop you know youre going to pay a little too much. At Railway, though, it never feels like a poor value. Unlike a certain place which shall remain unnamed, all of Railways coffee staples still actually taste like coffee, not pure flavored sugar (but if the flavors are more your style, you can still get extra pumps and also be satisfied). As for tea, I dont usually order it, but my wife does on occasion, and what Ive had of hers has been exceptional. A drive-through would make things more convenient, but then Id miss the cool industrial decor inside (which some might say is just a bit too small for their growing customer base). Keep up the good work! This is by far my favorite place in town for a pick-me-up (at least one of the caffeinated variety).
