I went for the first time last night for their annual Friday the 13th event, and I loved it! I love seeing such a large community of such seemingly different people gather for an event like this and see that were really not so different after all.There were so many designs to choose from for this event, and it was a difficult choice to make, but I went with a simple rose tattoo on my wrist below a previous tattoo.While the wait was pretty long due to the popularity of the event (I got there at 8:30pm and left at 3:30am) it was very much worth it. Im not sure what the artists name was that did mine, but we chitchatted through it to help me not think about the pain as I have a semi low pain tolerance when it comes to tattoos. He was super nice and he did fast but quality work. I was in the chair for maybe 5-7 minutes.Im not sure if I would come here myself for a regular tattoo appointment as it appears most of the artists specialize in American Traditional style and thats not really *my* style, but the work is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend if thats the style youre into!

The work is excellent & not over priced. They certainly dont just care about the money. They pride themselves in their work and its so easy to see why. One of the best shops around and I will always get my work done here.

Amazing, super clean and friendly staff

Today my friends & I went to get our tragus & industrial’s pierced. This is the very first time we visited this place. Will is super chill & very knowledgeable!! We all felt comfortable the entire time! We definitely recommend him for piercings!!Very clean & sanitary! Also very friendly staff too! We will definitely be returning for more piercings soon!

Brandon and the crew at State street tattoo are great. They are great artists, the shop is very comfortable and clean. All my work will be done by these guys from now on, everyone needs a tattoo shop they can trust to do great work and that are dependable. Highly recommend.

My wife and I, went in to get prices. All we wanted was two words. Basic fonts, nothing special. We were quoted 250 to 300 each.!!!!!!!!. I thought there was a mistake. They definitely do not have the skill in the shop to charge those outrageous prices.

I walked in without an appointment today and they fit me in within a span of thirty minutes. They asked me what I wanted and were drawing up it up immediately. The shop is clean and gives off a nice vibe. The woman that tattooed me was very nice and made me feel comfortable, as it was my first time getting a tattoo. The process was very simple and it didn’t take long at all for her to finish. My little rose tattoo is my favorite thing in the world and I love it!! The price was a little high, but the work was very good. I do, overall, recommend this shop for anybody looking to get their first tattoo, or just in general as an establishment!

I ended up getting two piercings from there today. The environment was extremely clean and professional 10/10 will be back!

If I could give 0 stars I would....these people are so into themselves that they have no time to actually help a paying customer. Two faced employees who lie right to your face any chance they can.

I have went there 2 times too many. Once for piercings 1 for a tattoo. The piercer was late came in mumbling how he didnt want to do any piercings that day not realizing I was his next client. And the tattoo is now covered up. Unprofessional conversations and Unprofessional behavior shown on public forums deter me from ever going back or ever recommending it to anyone.

Very fast service. Was able to get me in on the same day. The piercer had awesome bedside manner, and his main priority was making sure I was comfortable throughout all four piercings that I received. Would definitely recommend.

Scheduled an appointment for the 9th and when I called to confirm they told me I was wrong and had to make another deposit because it was a no call no show. I work Monday through Friday and my wife was there when I rescheduled. What kinda of shop doesnt set appointments over the phone and the artist hardly spoke to me about the design.

State Street Tattoo is a first class tattoo shop. I’ve been getting tattooed since I was 17 (with moms signature). Once I found State Street, in 2012, there has been no other shop I’d rather go to. They have collected an amazing group of artists who can tattoo all styles. Very professional and knowledgeable with their craft. The body piercer Will is precise and patient and Billy behind the desk is extremely helpful as well as entertaining. Everyone at State Street Tattoo are excellent and awesome people. Excited for my next visit. State Street Tattoo in Salem, OH is the place to be!

My first tattoo done there was done by Jimmy and it came out perfect so went back 2 weeks later and got another one and since then I have added 2 more and got one touched up. All of mine have been done by Jimmy and I will not go anywhere else. Will be getting more done here pretty soon. I love the place cause everyone there is so nice and the place is sooooo clean. Also Im in my 60s and still treated respectfully and I really appreciate that.

Great place full of incredibly talented artists who always go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with your work before, during and after they put it on your skin! I cant say enough about this place, the atmosphere is welcoming, they have a comfortable waiting area where you can watch a movie while you wait, all of the artists are top notch, the shop minimum is only 30 bucks so if you want something small you know they arent going to rake you over the coals just to turn a buck! I HIGHLY recommend State Street to anyone looking for some new ink. I have a friend who has to travel 3 hours to come here, but she wont go anywhere else!

We were greeted and made to feel comfortable immediately. Our tattoo artist was Jimmy. He made us feel very relaxed and we knew we were in good hands..ourdesigns were exactly what we envisioned and we were more than satisfied. We will be back and refer our friends to State Street. We drove an hour to get to the shop and it was worth every minute. Very clean and professional.A+A+

The guys here are incredibly awesome. Super helpful, nice to you, and Brandon does pretty quick work. The guy who mans the front (I forget his name and feel awful) is super friendly. Takes the time to talk to you about whats going to happen. And the shop is very clean.

Have had all my tattoos done here, and i have my arm covered. very clean and very affordable along with some of the most talented artists, as well as extremely personable and easy to get along with.And as for the comments about piercings and tattoos getting infected, body modifications are how you uphold them.

I was very unsatisfied with my overall experience at State Street Tattoo. I got my belly button pierced there about two and a half years ago, but it never seemed to heal correctly. I took proper care of it and cleaned it regularly, but there was consistently an off white discharge from it every day and it was painful to touch. I tried cleaning it more, cleaning it less, using different cleaning solutions, and multiple different good quality rings over the course of two years. When none of the aforementioned remedies helped, I returned to State Street Tattoo. The man who did the original piercing (Will?) was there, so I told him what had been happening and what I had tried. He told me to lift up my shirt; he glanced at it over the counter and said, thats healed. Again, I told him it was painful to touch and there was consistent discharge, and that I was sure it wasnt healed. He replied, youd know more about it than I would. Receiving no help other than a sarcastic comment, I left. I went to Hardkore Ink (also in Salem) and they told me the piercing was uneven, causing it to constantly rub, preventing it from healing. Brandon from Hardkore repierced it for me and its all healed up now. In summary, I received an uneven piercing which caused a lot of pain and headaches from State Street Tattoo. When I returned for help and/or advice, they brushed me off. Awful experience. Go to Hardkore Ink instead to save yourself money, pain, and an extra piercing.

Walked in and I was stared at like I was a piece of meat. Eyes up here guys! I will never go back! Just lost a customer and I hope many more! 1 Star is to many especially for the guy with the big nose ring.

I went in to have my nose peircing checked because it was red, inflammed, oozing pus, and was very painful.I was told to stop being a hypochondriac that it wasnt infected. Even though Im in medical school and I know what an infection looks like. Also went there looking to get a tattoo covered up on my arm, showed them a sample picture to give them an idea of what I was looking for only to be asked why I would want a tattoo like that? and no one in the shop would draw that up for you. very unprofessional. I wouldnt waste my money.

Very clean but not happy with waiting 2 hours to get started on a tattoo that I had already scheduled for. Made an appointment at 12 and we didnt even start till 2. My artist kept stopping to talk to people about things like a car title and counter tops. The work is very well dont but the wait is what has me from giving 5 starts.
