Presentation definitely gets an above and beyond, their desserts look super tasty and beautiful! We tried two, the caramel dessert and the pistachio one. OMG!! We could not stop eating them, DELICIOUS and sooo enjoyable to look at. Very cute place, not a lot of seating but it truly does not matter. Now I recommend this place as a “must go to” place when visiting Salem. Very close to all the other touristy places.
Delicious pastries, high quality with very reasonable pricing. We came in the afternoon and the selection was minimal, case was almost empty. We went back the next day and like magic the whole case was filled with extraordinary looking deserts. Wish we could have tried then all. The macaroons are particularly delicious and fresh, just the right balance of crisp and softness.
I visited Salem this past weekend and the first stop I made was to Caramel! I had heard such great things, and they did not disappoint! I got some wonderful croissants, and a dozen of the French macaroons! My only regret is not getting to stop in before my trip was over to bring some home! I will be back for that tiramisu!!
Delicious raspberry mousse! Great variety of macarons, although theyre on the chewy side
Cute bakery. The caramel walnut tart was delicious! The pastries were unique and elegant.
Truly beautiful desserts. I did not get any because 30 people came in right after me a d I felt uncomfortable being around that many strangers in a single small room. Wish I could have ordered something.
Delicious tiramisu, pumpkin and salted caramel macaroons. The price is expensive for only 6 and not many pastry items in store. Although I didn’t try the other pastries they looked delicious and decadent. There was a line to get in so I’m sure others agreed.
Macarons were delicate and fresh but the flavor lacked or was completely off. Everything in the case looked great though.
A little pricey but worth it! The macaroons were to die for and we chose 3 of their tarts. The lemon was AMAZING!!
Excellent almond croissant! Beautiful pastries and petits fours! Only complaint is that the line is a little confusing. But the food was excellent.
Fantastic croissants. You have to search far and wide to find pastries as good as these. This place is a true rarity and Salem is lucky to have them.
This place is so authentically French and adorable! They have all kinds of little pastries that all look delicious. I had the caramel mousse with poached pears on the bottom. It was the most delicious flan-like custard pastry Ive ever had. The consistency was great, and the poached pear bottom was an excellent combination. I wish it would have been a little bit bigger, but it was good enough because it was pretty rich. The kids had macarons, which were decent. The apple tart and almond croissant are also worthy of consideration. Im pretty sure anything there is a good choice really. They also have random little French spreads and candies inside of the shop. Its all very thought out, and Id recommend this to anyone looking for some French-inspired pastry. Ill be going back again when Im in the area.
Macarons were delicious. Would have liked to try everything by the looks of if.
A little flight to France while right around the corner. Amazing macarons
This place is AMAZING! I live a 5 min walk from this place and i always pass it on my way walking my dog never having a chance to go in. Well this morning i walked to do an errand and had to go in. I bought a apple turnover. A peach Tart and another pastry. OMG Fresh and it was just Delicious! Immaculate store, nice girl at the counter. My eyes were wanting to roam and buy more. You have to visit this place. Its better than the Bakerys in the North End Of Boston! And I grew up there! I will definitely be back!!!
Incredible French bakery. The deserts and the bread are not found elsewhere in the local area. Highly, highly recommended.
Everything looked so pretty to the eye but it was all very dry . Not impressed
What an amazing place the tastes and qualities are fantastic we have to stop every tyme we are up on the Northshore highly recommend place for delicious treats
I got a couple pastries and they were excellent
First time stopping by, I thought getting something nice on my way home from work would be a lovely treat. Unfortunately they only had 2 whole items left other than macaroons so I wasn’t able to get anything.
This place is fantastic. If you want a macaroon this is the place to go.
Amazing food!!!! Their selection of fantastically delicious sweets is astonishing! I highly recommend the Macarons and the Sophie (especially if you like fruit) it can be a bit pricey but its worth it to the refined palate.
Just middling croissants 🥐. Good fruit tart. Mediocre.
Great spot. Beautiful looking pastries (I mean really beautiful - with a glass like look to them), friendly staff and good espresso. They use Nespresso machines but the quality is good. I spoke with the staff and was told that the desserts are super rich and made daily. When they sell out that’s it for the day and then they make everything fresh the next day. Great place and will definitely be back again.
Everything was absolutely amazing, the pistachio macaroons, delightful!
My dad had his first ever macaroon here AND FELL IN LOVE WITH THEM. I cant wait to try the other sweet treats.
😍😍😍 visit this wonderful shop everytime I go to Salem, top notch service and sweets! The macarons are to die for, so many flavors and even special seasonal flavors.
Amazing! Peerless French sweets breads and coffee.
If you are in Salem, you have to stop here and enjoy a pastry or a croissant, maybe both!Today, I had lorange: a combination of dark chocolate ganache and orange mousse with candied orange peel: perfect execution and delightful presentation. However be prepared when you reach the desk because many of those pastries will be calling your name!
Polite service, super friendly, follow social distance guidelines and safety perfectly. Everything was yummy going back tomorrow before I leave to get another treat before I head home!
Macarons to die for!
Beautiful looking pastries that taste great. A must stop if you are in Salem.
Never been disappointed! Weve been going to Caramel since they opened many years ago. Just picked up some desserts last night and they were amazing! The macarons are also to die for
Very good croissants and lemon tart!
I usually like desserts from Caramel. My birthday cake was amazing, but Im very disappointed in the buche I ordered for Christmas. I tried all three flavors, and they were all bland. It actually turned out to be a basic roll with heavy cream, nothing sophisticated about it. Completely not up to French standards. After trying a piece it still seats in my fridge since my family refused to eat it. Its good I had a backup up of homemade chocolate lava cakes, otherwise the dessert part of the holiday would be a complete failure. Id like to be refunded. My order number was 1. Please raise your bar for the buche next year.
If you have an unreasonable affinity towards macarons — and I do — you’re really gonna struggle to find a better spot than this. They’ve got 10 or so flavors at a given time, and they’re magical. Soft but with a light crispness and absolutely terrific flavor. The coconut and birthday cake, especially, were impressive. They’ve got other things too (croissants, bread, etc) and I have no doubt those are terrific too, but come for the croissants. And then leave with everything else.
Ive never been here before and never had macarons. I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. We got a dozen assorted. Chocolate was my favorite.
The real deal. Try the pastries with fresh coffee after a meal in town
First time here and the macaroons were amazing!! The flavors tasted real and not artificial at all. Delicious!
We bought the salted caramel, birthday and vanilla macaroons. THEY WERE AMAZING! NEXT TIME I will get 12!!!
I only had the Tiramisu and it was delicious! Not unnecessarily sweetened. Just the perfect amount of sugar. I loved it
Macaroons to die for !!!I visited here with a gift certificate and was absolutely enthralled with their macaroons. I tried coconut (my favorite), pistachio, lemon, and chocolate. I recommend having them cold as the inner frosting tastes perfect cold instead of room temp. One of the best desserts I have ever tasted. I also had flan which was okay, a tiramisu which was delicious although I wish the cookie on top was embedded somehow. Highly recommend you stop in for macaroons.
First time here. To die for! Such a variety of pastries.. Great sevice. Just do yourself favor and stop here and eat!
Tiramisu is a piece of art
Wonderful small shop. Delicious pastries!Best macarons ever!!!
Best pastries and lovely staff
Very good. sorry.
The best macarons Ive ever had, ever. Many beautiful, very tasty cakes, pastries, French candies, and cappuccino/ espresso - reasonably priced. Clean, beautiful bakery, great staff!!
Real french patisserie. The only place around for your fix of real croissant, pain au chocolat and French pastries.
I brought a bunch of pastries to work because I have a lot a colleagues from France. They love it because it is very authentic and will drive from New Hampshire to Salem just to visit this place. Also I love it too!
The items look to pretty to eat. Its a nice little shop to get your dessert. Everything I had was very tasty. Make sure youre not hungry when you go otherwise you will spend your rent money.
I wish I had never been introduced to Caramel Patisserie in Salem. My week is now a countdown to the weekend when I can drive 16 miles and pay $25 for 12 little clouds of heaven, or macarons, as some people might call them, in incredibly pretentious but utterly delicious flavors like lily of the valley, earl grey and lavender. And dont get me started on their raspberry dacquoise pastries. Take my advice and avoid this place unless you have some serious willpower...
I have only 2 words: Amazing ! Amazing !!I had a chocolate mousse with a thin crunchy wafer made from almond flour (its specific name escapes me...maybe like dacquoise)...It was light but so so delicious.. I was in heaven !😇😇😇
Best croissants around and very reasonably priced.
Delicious small pastries and coffee
Beautiful pastries that demonstrate technique and they’re delicious! Definitely want to go back to try other pastries. The macaroons were good. The lavender and rose flavor was too strong for me but I did enjoy the mint chocolate chip, especially since I could taste that it was fresh!
Best french pastries in Massachusetts.
Family run business. Each pastry is an amazing, beautiful work of art. Unique and flavorful offerings, too. Theyre a little pricey at roughly $5 per pastry, but well worth it when you see the quality and care put into each one.
Love this place. Fanatic macaroons. Came in right before close, was not turned away and was welcomes and treated very well. Got a couple treats and will be back.
Delicious! Best French patisserie North of Boston
The best macaroons Ive ever had! The chocolate ones are the best in my opinion :)
An amazing gem hidden in Salem. Considering how built-up Salem has become in the past fifteen years, its hard to call this bakery and dessert shop a local haunt, but you would absolutely expect this to be in a major city. Selection is great, food is top-notch, and the prices are excellent. If you are in Salem, visit.
The BEST sweet treats. The macarons are literally to die for...
Amazing! These creations are beyond calling them pastries. They are works of art. Delicious. Friendly staff. A must go to when in Salem.
Beautiful artistry and flavor is exquisite.
Great French pastries but expensive and often out of stock on certain items. They also do not answer the phone or email, EVER. Truly a little slice of France in that unfortunate respect.
If you are handicapped and require sturdy comfortable seating, do not plan on staying. Tiny tables surrounded by backless stools, with seats about 12 x 12. Other seats were modern sweetgrass round chairs. Two other seats had arms and cushions but low to the ground. While my husband bought some pastries (we skipped coffee, no place to sit and enjoy it), I spoke to the owner about no chairs for the handicapped. He looked at me with a blank expression and said nothing. I felt disrespected. We left, but we will never go back. Handicapped people deserve better than this treatment. After all, our money is just as good as able-bodied peoples dosh.
Discovered this wonderful bakery years ago. It’s amazing!! We go to NYC from AZ once or twice a year and ALWAYS make the trip to Salem just to visit this place. Well worth it! Spectacular desserts and great service. My son has also stopped in and shipped macarons to us as well. Best gift ever!!
Decent pastries and solid coffee. Kinda small inside with maybe 12 seats. No restroom and the neighbors dont let you use theirs. A little overpriced for what it is.
Enjoyed macaroons, great flavor selection. A little too pricey but I understand, its handmade. Pastries selection is very impressive! Looking forward to trying some.Giving it 4 stars just because it could use some improvement in terms of service. I happened to be there at rather a busy hour and there was only one person helping customers so its been at least 15 minutes before I got to order and good 10 min until I got my coffee. Wouldnt go there if you dont have some spare time.
Came at 525 on a Friday and it says they are open until 6 pm but were closed and lights off. Very disappointing:(
