I was helping my daughter and her best friend look for a skirt. They wanted to use it for their Halloween costume this year. So, I am by myself looking for a brown skirt when one of the sales clerks popped in at the end of the aisle I was in and informed me that they had a mens section on the other side of the store. I looked straight at her and told her that I knew exactly were I am. She blew off my response, chuckled and walked away. I dont think she understood how she made me feel at that moment. I certainly wasnt laughing.

I’ve had pretty good experiences here before, but today was disappointing. When I arrived to drop off items to sell, there seemed to be a mix up with the woman in front of me who had brought in many, many, bags that looked similar to mine (and she was still bringing some in while I was leaving). I left thinking that some of my stuff was going to get confused with hers, but let it go since my previous experiences had been good. However, I returned for my cash and felt like the total was wrong. I asked the buyer to confirm which bags were mine and sure enough, one of them was most definitely not mine. My bag was chock full of LOFT clothes and hardly worn, trendy, fall/winter pieces (which the website indicates locations want to buy) and this bag was not. The bags had definitely been confused. In conclusion, I’m disappointed at the lack of organization, and of course, for not being properly compensated due to this lack of organization. There was little effort to make it right. I might as well have just taken my items to Savers.

After managing the store for many years... I have the confidence the team would continue to excel... I am so glad to see people are interacting with customers as this business is a beast and busy all of the time.If I have to point out what can be improved on? It would be the norms most people comment... need more cashiers so the line goes quicker and an assistant might be helpful at checking in people at fitting rooms.

I still cant believe what this store sugar house did to meI bought a beautiful dress 06/11 ( I was with my little baby and I couldn’t trying it on) when I got home I tried it on and the dress strap broke. Today 06/18 I went to the store with my receipt and another dress that didn’t fit on me and They said that they couldn’t exchange or return both dress. I can’t believe that. I can’t use a damaged dress!!! They said that I can fix it. 😳I’m very disappointed and sad.Ive never been treated like that in any storeThey couldn’t help mein anything ( store credit, fix dress or return my money) the dresses still have tags, receipts and less than 14 days.AbsurdI hate this store

I always have a good experience when I come here. This time around, I came in to sell/donate some clothes i havent worn in a while or have fallen out of favor of. They were backed up with donations and told me there was going to be a 45 minute to 1 hour wait. Not only were they courteous delivering such news but they actually got it done much faster than the estimated wait time and I picked some new swag and didnt really have to pay out of pocket. Will definitely come again.

Pretty sure this is one of the best thrift stores in town! Surprisingly pleased with the prices and the buyers buy cute clothes (madewell, free people, etc).

I buy a lot here, but it’s becoming not worth the hassle. Bought their reusable shopping bag that they tout as selling to reduce waste some time ago (you save ten percent when you use it). I go in today and try to use it for the first time and im told we no longer give the discount for using those, but we can give you a plastic bag. I was told when I purchased this bag that The purpose was to save plastic and that it would never expire. Goes to show this company doesn’t care about reducing waste they care more about preventing customers from saving 10% and losing dollars. Anyone business minded would grandfather those that already have the bags in, but not sell more. Horrible customer service. It’s always something here.

I loved my experience at Uptown Cheapskate Sugarhouse! I ALWAYS find my favorite brands there, and it’s easy to pick out unique and special items to add into my wardrobe. I feel like every time I go in, I leave with so many super cute things that I can’t wait to wear and show off. They are always in like new condition (some with tags even!!) It’s so easy to find fashionable and affordable looks here! Definitely check it out!!

Clothes are all way more unique than you’ll find elsewhere in Sugarhouse. Plus super affordable! Staff is very helpful and genuine.

Over a year I hoped they would sell mens shoes over size 10....nope...

They have a fair selection of items. Some at good prices, others not so much. They dont pay very well, IMO, for anything that you sell them. They probably paid me 25% of what they will charge.

This Uptown Cheapskate is really nice very well maintained and clean and I love how the store is actually set up you can see everything and you actually have access to everything because of the open layout not to mention the staff is all really sweet and friendly always willing to help you find anything youre looking for

This review is based purely on the manager of the location, not uptown, or the location itself. I don’t even write reviews, but this has been bugging me for a few days. I’ve been a frequent shopper here for over a year and a half, I’ve shopped here more than any other place and have spent my fair share. The manager, short, dark hair, 30’s, loud voice (can’t miss her)— is enough for me to drive out of my way to go to a different uptown. Not only is she frequently rude to customers, with a high horse attitude, her loud voice radiates through the store so every customer can hear it. I’m actually surprised there aren’t more reviews on her. This isn’t a one instance thing— over the time I’ve been coming here I’ve overheard many rude remarks from her towards customers. I walk into the store and hear her loud “welcome” and become disappointed that I get to shop and listen to her the whole time. Maybe she’s been managing for a while and that’s her saving grace, but I certainly wouldn’t want her attitude in my store if I owned it. She didn’t bug me enough personally to leave a review until the other day when I walked out of the dressing room with my mask below my mouth (because I’m a human being and we all aren’t used to masks being our second nature yet) and before I even have the chance to pull it back up, she literally yells from behind the counter “pull your mask up please” in a not so compassionate voice. So then 5 other people in the store turn to look at me because they’ve all heard her, and probably had the same “how rude” thought go through their mind. Customer service goes a LONG way in keeping return customers. Unfortunately, I’ll think twice before heading to this location again.

I had to ask some teenage girls to give a little space as they excitedly tried to browse the same rack as me. They were respectful but maybe a few signs suggesting people wait their turn would be helpful 😀

I really love coming to this store it’s awesome for a 2nd hand store. Although their staff is not friendly at all. I asked for a dressing room and the employed gave me attitude and then rolled his eyes at me when I didn’t answer right away. He was a guy with curly blonde hair really just made my day a lot worse.

Ive never been here before and I loved it! I was so enamored with the products, I totally forgot to take pics of the store. But I will definitely be back. There are so many different options to choose from and from the items I looked at, the prices are super affordable. I got the vest in my pic for only $11.99! Theres limited parking, so youll have to use the garage, but I would still come back in spite of that. The staff was super helpful and the store was organized by item types, styles, and colors. I cant wait to go back!

This store sells you old clothes like if they were new! And their marketing is full of lies! They make you think that you are going to pay a lower price and then when you go check out, none of the stuff was part of the discount! They just say lies to get you to go to the store!

Vast assortment of used clothing in good condition, sometimes the prices are great, but other times they are totally overpriced. Is maybe a thing of luck, who knows but Im sure that everytime you visit this store there is something for you. Very recommended if you time.

It was great to walk in and get a greeting positive, I was just stopping by on my way to the gym. Evidently the first time you drop clothes off they want you to watch them go through everything for “liability”??? Im Not not too terribly concerned that the business is going to steal my used clothes. So when I asked if I could wait a half hour I said I’ll just leave. I was then informed you can come back in the morning. Thank goodness Plato’s closet exists.

Bought items that were too small. Called and they said I could go and exchange it. Once I drove back (same day within 5 hours!) they refused to exchange it! I dont live near by and they made me drive there so they could tell me NO. Extremely disrespectful and inconsiderate of peoples time. I would have not gone back if they had said it wasnt going to be possible when I called. Have shopped at Uptown but will never go back.

Got some great boots for just $11! What a great deal! The staff was also very friendly. They greeted me as soon as I entered and the cashier was very nice throughout the buying process. The interior was super clean and easy to navigate through. Ill definitely be back soon!

One of my favorite spot to pick up clothes on the cheap. I love the variety - from GAP to Free People. I regularly find Patagonia gear with tags still attached. Ive also bought designer apparel for a fraction of the cost. I think they have a great range of styles and are usually on trend. Plus buying used is good for the earth!As far as selling you will probably get more (depending on the style) at other consignment shops, but Uptown seems to buy more of my stuff than other shops. So it might balance out if you typically wear common and trendy brands.

Just purchased two pairs of Banana Republic Jeans and two Ann Taylor shirts for $50. Excellent like new condition. Pretty happy. Will come again.

I took in a big basket of nice clothes (no stains or holes), good brands like Converse, American Eagle, Vans, Forever 21 etc. they took 6 out of the 20 something items, and offered me $15 for all of it, including a nice pair of Vans, that I was expecting at least $15 for. I’ve seen things here that have holes and stains in them, so I’m very unpleased that they didn’t take my things that are in much better shape than things I’ve seen here before, and I am upset that I only got $15 for 6 items, including a pair of Vans shoes that are in excellent shape. I will NOT be selling here again. I took in store credit, but decided I didn’t want it anymore since I was so displeased and asked if I could take cash instead and the woman working there said she couldn’t change it, so now I have $18 of store credit that I don’t want. I’ve always enjoyed shopping here, but due to this experience I won’t anymore.

I keep giving this place a chance, seeing the other reviews thinking it’s just me. It’s not. Today I took in a new with tags Lucky Hunter Green dress with the price tag of $99 on it. Non smoking house. I was expecting 15-20.After waiting, they offered me $4 cash and $5 I store credit. Ummmmm. No. $5 for a $100 dress? Rude. $10 would have changed it. But $4???

I love this place. Whenever I need wardrobe for a set, or just want something new for daily wear, I come here. I try to set limits on what Im looking for because its quite easy to spend more than I intend as their selection is changing all the time and there is always something appealing.

I really liked this store! They have so many clothes at an affordable price!! I bought a brand new pair of old navy jeans for only $12 and they had a ton of super cute fall sweaters as well! I love shopping here! I get good quality clothes at less than fast fashion prices. Thrifting is also a form of recycling so its great for the environment! They also have a decent mens section so my husband and I like coming here together.

This was my favorite store, but they removed the best manager there, Ambar, now the store is a mess. Now i will go to wallmart

My fiance and I have come here several times, and twice for my fiance to sell her clothes. She always has nice NEW clothes to sell. The only took 6 out of about 30 and only gave her 18 dollars for them. What a joke! They have people who do not know what they are doing with pricing clothing. I cant be sure, but my guess is they do not even check, they just assume this piece of clothing is worth this much and then they mark it way up. None of her clothes have stains or holes in them. I have seen several pairs of clothing there that have stains and pretty big holes in them. We will not be going back to this place. Dont sell your clothes here if you want anything out of them.

This is a thrift store! I came in with two big bags of very gently new stuff and just because it didnt have a Gap or Hollister name on the tag you guys didnt want it. Its a joke I will sell and donate my clothes else where. This was the biggest wast of my 27 years Ive ever experienced. The 45 minutes I waited was worth more then the $4 I was offered!

I took in some very nice clothes and some necklaces that I bought for $35 or more and I got $4 back. How freaking lame is that! I thought I would get more than that. I regret greatly ever going there. I had a friend tell me that they were good and that I would get good money back but this was a huge let down. Thanks for nothing.

Staff are all self absorbed and not great at their job with more then 7 people behind the counter they were all looking rather confused. On a very advertised sale day the sale items that they had to take their time to be marked should be put in their own section the store is large and makes it tiresome to even look. It would greatly help your sell through rate to do so like the rest of the stores do. Staff needs to be re trained on customer service and attention to detail left sensors on two items of five item purchased. Many of them behind the counter were texting and looking at their phones. Although the store is very nice and great location I would rather drive to the other stores for better customer service and attention to detail

I always love going to this Uptown Cheapskate. Their selection of women’s clothing is HUGE, they always have the cutest selection, and each time I go I find something I love. Today I went and found a brand new Banana Republic shirt that was originally $54.99 for $8.

I love going to DI for random things, but buying clothes from there sucks! I brought in collector shoes, Nike air challenger 2 hot lava and they go for 300-400$ brand new. These didn’t have a box but were pretty much new, I only wore them once. I also brought in a like new pair of Nike zoom running shoes that go for 75 new. I was expecting about 15 for the running shoes and 40 dollars minimum for hot lava shoes. They offered me 23 dollars for both lol 🤦‍♂️ I’m pretty sure that’s less than 25% retail price. NO THANKS

They have a petty wide selection of men’s clothing compared to other places. The pricing was decent for used clothing - you can find cheaper prices at DI but you’re also shopping at DI which could have anything. Their buying process was pretty easy to navigate although they didn’t buy much from me.

Just traded in a box of clothes for $22 in store credit. Found a pair of $200 7 for all mankind jeans for $27. Only paid $5. Such a steal! I love this place and end up buying most of my clothes from there these days!

These guys are pretty smart... Snippy too.. I hate to say it.. But only go sell here if you were willing to just donate it.. I get so frustrated when I take awesome stuff in and theyre only willing to give you 10% of what they are going to sell it for... They have decent stuff, but only if youre willing to pay way too much for something used.. Go to savers if you want to find something unique and used... not these guys..

I’ve come here to shop before, honestly they seem to take anything with a free people label and mark it up to as high as they can even if it’s from like ten years ago and not even in style. I’ve seen things with stains on it, it’s kinda gross. But I sold for the first time this evening, I was all free people and urban, and a pair of converse. Before you sit for forty minutes like I did, understand they will only give you 30 dollars for 8 items. So not worth it. I use to buy from them but never again: they rip people off and have young teenagers pricing your items. This place is a joke.

First time at the store around 5pm on a Friday. While the selection was great and I found what I was looking for, I wasnt greeted once. There were only 2 other shoppers and someone could have easily said a simple hello. I even felt weird asking for a dressing room because I had to interrupt the employees conversation with one another.

Went to the one in American Fork with a friend for her birthday. I was able to find a cute hat and she found a cute sweater, so it was a success. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Love love Uptown. I always find the best stuff, especially lululemon here. Ive sold a couple things here too & am always pleasantly surprised by how much they offer me.
