The Chaat Express Cafe in the back of the Manpasand International Food Market is exceptional. Chef Kims talents are out of this world! Definately worth stopping by. The food is authentic Indian food and just amazing!!
Chaat Express in the back of Manpasand International Market has the most amazing food! Kim makes the best pav bhaji that I have ever had.
I love shopping at Indian grocery stores, so many spices and exotic foods. I discovered this store for the first time and was surprised by the atmosphere, it was like being transported to India! Friendly faces and I found the aisles to be nice and wide, very supermarket like! Prices are reasonable too, I found some lovely copper servers that were moderately priced and a good sized jar of mint chutney. However, it really pains me to say that cleanliness on 4/24/21 was not first and foremost on the list of things to do that day. There were too many crumbs on the work surfaces at the food station in what I believe was the deli. Food crumbs in the food cases, improper handling of food, no gloved hands while preparing food. I saw a cockroach in the food cases, too much clutter like boxes, crates and obstructions. This is not a good first impression, I hope they clean up their store soon.
Horrible return policy. We bought a propane fueled Tawa (stove thing) for cooking flat bread. It is not built to be used in the US (propane related systems), so if you use it on American standard propane piping or system it is a major safety risk, and can cause serious injuries or fires. The tawa also only heats up a small portion of the tawa. Anyways, took it to the store twice, but would not get returned, despite telling them that even store credit would work. Will defiantly be reporting them to the better business bureau as well. Be careful folks!I have attached a pic of how only a small portion of the tawa (pan) heats up, leaving the rest of the pan useless.
This review is for chat express located inside Manpasand. Bought mysore bonda. They are so oily and well cooked. They are not organized at all. I took 4 orders of it and they gave see chutneys for 2 orders and tamarind chutney for mysore bonda, seriously. They are over fried and did not taste good at all.
I have been going here for almost 3 years. Now and then I run into expired stuff but by the time I realize that- I threw the receipt already. But this time I saved the receipt and when I showed the lady at the counter that the product is expired she argued that it’s manufacturing date and that they don’t take returns. No where they explicitly mentioned that they don’t take returns. I would never go again- they lost a long term customer. Shame on the business for selling expired products, arguing about it and not accepting returns.
Decent products and customer service and good selection of Indian vegetables. However they are almost always more expensive than the competition for same exact item. If your looking for greater bang for your buck, please shop around.
It is one of the best shop for the Indian groceries. They keep the store clean and organized. They also serve tasty snacks in the kitchen section. The staff is very good and helpful to provide suggestions all the time and they do Curbside pickup as well if needed. The prices are decent. All in all very good place. I recommend this place and I am interested again and again.
I love this place, it’s one of my favorite grocery stores. 🤍
Lots of inter-continental stuff can be found here. 👍
Customer service is pathetic. Bought a large ice cream tub and opened it at home, it was spoilt. Called the manager many times and they said we will let you know. After few days I lost patience. But I am never going there again.
Very cute store hidden in the quiet neighborhood. Not like regular large Manpasand, it is more like a neighborhood grocery store. Very friendly staffs. Nice customers. Everyone wears masks at this time.
I called them to ask the price per pound for goat meat and the lady told me she cant tell me the price over the phone. Very unprofessional. I’ll stick to ali baba
Its one stop shop for the Indian groceries. They keep the store clean and organized. They also serve tasty snacks in the kitchen section. The staff is very helpful all the time and they do Curbside pickup as well if needed. The prices are decent. All in all very good place. I recommend this place.
Man pasand has really lott of Indian food to purchase, had been there couple of months ago. I found most of the Indian food out there
I brought ponni raw rice .I see small black insects
Please be careful when you buy any products ( not groceries) from this store . We bought a carrom board and the person at the counter said there are no returns . After returning home we found that it is a broken piece and was covered with plastic wood which even gave cracks
I give this store a 5 star because of the manager and the employees, I’ve been going here for a long time and after the manager the store has improved so much. Before a year there was barely any variety but now the store has so much variety, I saw some negative reviews towards the manager but the manager is very nice and has improved the store and added a lot of variety. Manpasand owner has done a good job hiring her and the rest of the employees
I just did not like the place.
Inside the shop, there is a restaurant where you can find Indian food and Tea. Their tea is great. Samucha & Bombay Sandwich are excellent
Excellent super market. I can find everything I need with reasonable prices. Fresh produce - variety of Rice and Flour.I just read negative reviews but that’s not true. I have been going here almost every week sometimes twice a week. Store manager Hema is very friendly. She always helped me. I never got any expired item.
Not happy with my recent purchase and their customer service, receipt shows 14 days return but store helper denied returns for overcharged items, still have 5 days left to return from todays date. Not interested to visit this place again
They had precisely what I went in to buy!
Love this place. I can find my hair dyes and soaps, my spices and my frozen items, even fresh produce. They even have some customer program, not sure if it provides discounts or what, but my number is in there. My heart belongs to Ali Baba forever.
Awesome store with all spreads of Indian variety product at a very reasonable price. You will not miss home once you reach here. You can get fresh vegetables. Staff were very helpful in finding products.
Best Indian groceries, tasty kitchen, helpful staff. The best place to get all your need. Thank you. Neat and Clean. The best part is the sweet they sell the traditional indian sweet OTC! Must go place :)
Cashier is wonderful Victeria
As the name suggests, this store carries a wide variety of groceries from different parts of the world, mostly from the Indian subcontinent. Different brands and selections are available. They also carry meats and fish. The staff is really friendly and helpful. They have a point-based loyalty reward system as well, which is an added incentive. Definitely recommend this place.
One of my goto place specially for halal chicken or goat, they guy at the meat kitchen will help you get the best meat. Overall friendly staff, I feel it bit pricey in some items then other Indian stores that I have been, but you get everything at one stop.
My husband and I love this store! Hes Indian and we are able find what need so I cook him his favorite South Indian dishes!
Good selection of product
It’s by far the largest Indian store in San Antonio offering a wide range of Indian groceries. It is a one stop shop for all my Indian supplies. They have a great selection of ready to eat frozen foods as well as fresh meats. The prices are very reasonable and I find the quality of products to be great. The staff is very helpful and the facility is well maintained. The only thing that’s needs improvement is the way the prices are displayed on the racks, as you sometimes need to go to the cashier to find out the price of certain things. My overall experience has been good and the value for money will have me returning here.
Vegetables are much fresh here than other international market store.
I am not at all giving 5 star only because of rude manager. I have faced problems with her in past for several times but now I cant control my self in writting this review. I am very much happy with varities of products available, fresh vegetables and its varities which no one can find in any where in Sa Antonio but this manager is rude, mean, gives hard time in resolving problems, bad mouthing infront of customers for other people. Manpasand owener you better be aware of her and her bad attitude.
Good store but expensive compare to other competitors. VADILAL ice cream cone is like 3.29.Comon??? Go to Houston where they charge 1.99 for same stuff.Mustafa was the best in prices which got burned, himalaya is still cheaper and Alibaba is little cheaper then Manpasand but carries limited items.Overall, I will be a customer of manpasand but go check around the prices of other stores in competition too especially on frozen items.
Diwali sale has started when I went for a weekly shopping, buy one get one was there for few items. I was in a hurry and didn’t take the free product. I went with the receipt a week after and asked if they could consider, they were nice enough to offer it. Definitely recommend!
Don’t tell anything about hema. She is amazing and hard worker. Very convenient great costumer service friendly employees 5 star
I am going back to alibaba sorry to say but I wouldn’t trust ManPasand pricing. They always charge u more at the counter and they never had any up to date or proper price showing on the shelves...I will not shop here anymore.if they improve the proper price on their shelves I may go back. I lost trust in them.
This a great place, good variety, friendly staff and an excellent location.
**ATTENTION**made purchased once but charged me twice. Talked to manager on phone.she told me to stop by store any cashier will help out. when i went there after few days she rudely told me i still have to wait few days till owner gets back and verify everything. She start making excuses when i showed her bank statement and receipt .i would wait some more days if she asked me nicely. I called my bank (fraud dep.) and got my money back.
Great shop, you get what you need. Its great to shop when they have specials. The small canteen in San Antonio is great and they serve fresh Sugarcane Juice.
The isles are a bit narrow and the butcher shop was not at full speed today. But they have an amazing selection of Indian fare. The store smells amazing and they have a rewards program. My husband and I will definitely be returning!
Many Mediterranean items for sale. Thousands items are refrigerated. Customer service is exceptional. Check-out is expedient and friendly. 4/5 stars only because imo I do not posses the pallet.
Nice Indian grocery store. I always get everything I need. They also have halal meat section where you can get fresh chicken and goat meat
No doubt its a worst and careless management I have ever seen beside that they have good collection of grocery and frozen items. But but but yeah we really miss your mumbai style Pav bhaji, vada pav and tangy spicy pani puri in summer from your chat corner. Reconsider in reopening of your food court.
This is my go to store for international food because it has so much variety of food and items. The three staff members in there are very friendly and nice. I would recommend this store
This place is not customer friendly. I would not recommend this place as the lady managers behavior is insulting towards us as middle eastern.Way too expensive, more than many times of food and products are expired. Pay attention to your receipt before you step out of store(manager is not atall helpful), some items are not match the tag price, posted specially frozen items. Meat is rotten or gets rotten within a day. please check expiry date on middle ester section before buying. would not return back after horrible experience with manager.
This is the largest Indian Grocery store in San Antonio. Well stocked. Love the wide aisle and the bright lighting. The store is cleaner than any other similar food store. Staff is very helpful. There is a large frozen food section.Their on site cooked food area is not yet up an running but I suppose will be coming to fruition soon.Is there any way to get home made Rotlis? That would really make my day.
Low IQ people at work, poor strategy on discounts and overall during the pandemic they have no masks to sell or offer! Not interested on ever visiting again. Poor returns n unsatisfactory customer service
Although it is the biggest indian grocery store in the city but also a worst managment and customer service out of all Indian grocery store. I am a regular customer and have tried to avoid judging them but from past few months they dont care about their service. Its hard to find manger within their promises to solve problems and even if she is there problem solution never a favourable in my side although everytime they are in the fault. I dont recommend this store at all.
Not much varieties and meat option was less.
Decent selection of dried food goods -predominantly Indian fair. Still arranging the store when I visited so some prices were missing and shelves empty.Update: We came back to Man Pasand to buy persimmons and shelves are fully stocked and rearranged. The store is clean and employees are helpful.
Much costlier than alibaba and himalaya bazar
This place is awesome the cashier that helped me and the owner were extremely AWESOME. The other girl no. But over all store is great and great prices. Thank you
The manager team amazing, to many options available. Store collection is so great.Good place to shop.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Manager on site to address concerns and suggestions. The store has a tremendous variety of products, and many at lower prices than similar stores in the area.
Good store good prices
Roaches are a no go.
I love this store! They have a nice selection of international products and freshly made goods, such as samosas and sweets. The costumer service is also wonderful.
The variety of items is very good and the staff is very friendly. And there is a good variety of items in this story, I would recommend this store a 100 percent
I wish I could give 0 star for their cutomer service. I will say negative reviews are not atall deniable about their manager and her customer service. I can say previously there were few girls at the cashier and kitchen who had much better (excellent)customer service and had a curtsy to serve their customers although probably all of them were younger than this lady. (GET THEM BACK)This woman has a very bad attitude and attentiveness towards coustomers. No helping nature atall.Half of the time she wont be present in the store and when she is, you will not find her welcoming or smiling. By seeing the respond of negative review from owner has put a negative impact. Everyone has a privilidge to say what they feel being an owner you can not threat anyone neither online nor in person. Although I live in America, I have a time to write a long review and I will. Find me out and visit my house I will welcome you with an Indian wam gasture. I am not scared of saying the truth.
This is a friendly store with a very good selection of Indian and some other ethnic foods. I would highly encourage you visit this store.
Simply the best place for Goat meat in all of San Antonio. Shahid the manager is excellent and so is the rest of the staff. MUST try If you love baby goat meat (reminds me of the meat from back home)
Man NApasand. Rude women work here, especially Vijaya.
I want to say something against of this big reviewHema is a hard worker.she doing her job better then more educated. And there are lots of peoples from India who dont speak wel English but they doing their job better then who knows English..there is a quote in hindi [ Apni chalti he to Sabki Jalti he..] so dont worry Hema for that kind of Fake review. Keep it up..Not everybody has a guts like you to run that kind of Giant Store..And Owners Son in Law, He has an awesome skills how to run Business. I was working with him I know that his main Goal is each and every customer keep coming in his store so there is no Chance to He did Bad behavior..I Bet, working people they dont have that much time to write a such a long review..This is America not India😂😂
Buy stuffs on your risk. Giving one star also will be too much for them. I bought mint chutney two weeks ago which has been expired YEAR AGO. I was a regular customer but few months before I was experienced with same expiry date issue, I do come from Kerrville so coming back for returns makes me costlier than actual prize of product. Recently someone told me that their staff has been changed and they have upgraded their store so thought to give it a try but I can say worst customer service ( all three)with lot of arrogance, forget about welcoming or smiling while entering the store even while saying bye thank you the man, his expression and tone was saying me that please DO NOT COME BACK. I will make sure that my friend and family dont suffer the same by not stepping into this store.
So far the best Indian grocery store in SA. Decent size and looks clean. Parking auto rickshaw in front of the store was very unique Idea
Manpasand has been disappointing except for their restaurant in the back. The Good:1. Mirchi bajji and samosas were made fresh and were very tasty.2. Fresh vegetables are great! The Bad:1. Pretty much everything else. One of the goat meat packs we purchased was probably several days old because as soon as we opened it, the meat started stinking.2. Like other posts said, grocery items are expired but are still being sold. We purchased HONEST brand Mumbai Pav bread and the Best By date has been manipulated from 01/13/2019 to 01/13/2020.
BUY YOGURT at your OWN RISK !! . They sold me spoiled yogurt/curd. I recommend others to open the box after your purchase and check before you leave the store because they don’t accept returns on frozen items.
Very nice and helpful staffs. Very decent price. Clean and big store. They carries fresh halal meat.
Really nice and clean! Cashier are very nice and friendly as well. Offers everything in lower price than other stores.
This store has wide variety of Indian groceries even have the ready to cook Roti/paratha which are not available in any other stores in San Antonio.we get fresh leafy vegetables all the time and also I like the Meat section as well as I never had any bad experience till now Staff and management are friendly I would definitely recommend this place for Indian groceries
You will find everything you need for home as far as groceries goes and at great prices 👍
The place is neat and clean, they also have a chaat corner.
Its more cheap than Ali Baba, but it needs some organized stuff and focus on real international ( middle east) groceries, plus other needs.
Good mediterranean store
The place has much wider selection now compared to the last time I was here. They improved
Great quality of products and great staff and customer service
Within past few months have gone though bad experiences like bad customer service, expired items, problem with return, thankless rude managers, several times but was ignoring them as there are few positive points like fresh vegetables any time with plenty of options which no one can find in any indian grocery store of San Antonio So I stayed away from writing negative reviews but now it has crossed the limits. I saw post on their Facebook page about sale and went along with my extended family who have come from New Jersey to show them that now San Antonio also has a good and huge store along with the chat corner which is comparable to New Jersey chat places but our thanks giving weekend with family and friends has been spoiled as every one got sick and few of them are seating in ER after indulging their chat. I will not recommend to have their food. I don’t know what has happened to the management previously it was awesome then they closed and now reopened but with poor quality???
Here you find things, items, produce, spices, rice that you dont find everywhere else. Lamb, flours of different kinds for us that cant eat wheat flour. Look for your nearest international food market and be amazed at their selection of candies, vegetables and meats.
Nice store with great collection of Indian groceries and condiments. They also has a small in-house restaurant.
Great new addition to San Antonio. Great variety. Produce is great. Very helpful staff.
This is the second time I have been there. The staff are very kind and friendly but the prices are horrible. This is a rip of business. I will not go there anymore and will recomend my friends against it.
Manpasand is NA Pasand. I went to buy some groceries as we have Diwali and bought smosa sheets, which are of no use as they all are stuck and broken, looks like they are frozen but defrost previously and freeze them again. This might be silly reason to write review but is my second time bad experience as a week ago I bought a large size of ice cream and it was same thawed and refroze, BE AWARE they DO NOT take returns on frozen items which is annoying. Being a part of public health, I can surly say that, HEALTH INSPECTOR needs to visit this store.I wont visit this store again nor will refer to anyone. Guys help your self and drive 1/4 mile more to reach Alibaba which gives same thing much cheeper and fresher.
At the first look, it seems good. If you are not careful about expiry dates, it is going rob you!
I would recommend Chat food over here. Pani Puri and Samosas esp good.
One star is too much for them. In comparison to Alibaba, some items are 30% higher in price. Nice and friendly people but horrible price. I dont recommend this to you.
Didnt check the expiry date while buying and after reaching home figured out that there are two items which have been expired in December 2019. When I reached there to talk in the front 2 cashier girls sound clueless and mean wheres couldnt find manager madam to solve it. I dont recommend this store.
Good
It has good collection of Indian groceries. I would definitely recommend this place.
Very good selection of foods, great friendly staff. Also they have Kinder Eggs ❤️
Undoubtedly, its largest Indian grocery store in San Antonio with almost all types of Indian groceries, snacks ( except mopleez ), puja commodities, Indian style vessels, Halal meat, huge variety in frozen section and large variety of fresh vegetables and probably thats the only reason I am giving 3 stars to this store, otherwise I went to the store few days ago, new couple managers were fighting with each other infront of customers in their mother tongue, this thing I am seeing second time in this month. I am a regular customer since store started and never found out this type of unprofessionalism before this couple came infect, those Nepali girls were always welcoming customers with a great smile. Moreover, upon asking about their kitchen ( their kitchen was closed on Saturday which is again unusual as I know their cook ), got a reply in a rude way that they dont know.
ManPasand and its kitchen is unexplored in San Antonio. I can say WOW it is a hugest grocery store that to with pure vegetarian kitchen in the town but need more advertisement. I went on Friday morning for shopping because for their awesome Dipawali sale (oil, rice, atta, mango pulp, tea, saffron, etc.). They have fresh vegetables with lots of varities and even frozen verities are enormous. There I found their canteen type of kitchen with several varieties( samosa chat, samosa pav, vada pav, pav bhaji, chole puri, pani puri, etc.) which are hard to find in San Antonio. I ordered Pav bhaji and it was the yummiest I had it in past 7 years of my US life. I told their chef ( forgot her name) that, I will come for dinner with my family. I went there at night and it was closed, when I asked cashier she said she is not here. So thought to visit their cafeteria again today and it was closed even though their menu says that they are close on Wednesday.
This place is neat, clean and gotLot of indian food stuff. Restaurant in the store is good. Samosas, chai, bhelpuri is very tasty at manpasand restaurant.
They sold rice with worms and will never take it back... Beware of old and expired items. Looks like I cant rate 0.
The prices are way to high almost 3x during the covid-19.
