What a great place! Delicious breakfast and coffee in a cozy atmosphere served by friendly staff.
The coffee is unique and screams San Antonio with flavors like horchata and Mexican chocolate. There is plenty of space to enjoy your beverages with seating outside on the patio or indoors. You walk up to the register and place your order then they deliver. I got an egg sandwich, which in hind sight I probably should have gotten something more authentic and local because it was very bland. But their coffee is what it’s all about, more so then there food.
If youre gonna go local, you gotta go here! This place has unique hand crafted lattes that are like the nectar of the Gods. Definitely a very hip swanky style with all the mellow coffee house feels. This place is great to wake up and start the day at for sure. The service was great and Gilbert was amazing! Brought treats to the kiddo and chatted with us a bit. A really cool guy! Theres a ton of coffee joints in town but none are like this place. Its inviting, stylish and cozy. Best of all, the menu has some great options and the coffee is on point!
I visited Barrio Barista with a colleague during our lunch hour on a Wednesday and it was great. I had their barbacoa grilled cheese with avocado and tomato basil soup. I had never tried that combination but it’s now a favorite. While we waited for our food we conversed with the owner Gilbert. This is a family business that serves proudly the San Antonio west side. Their coffee is good too. I look forward to stopping by during their Open Mic Jazz night. I recommend this place for the service is great and their food is good too. This ambiance is quaint and cozy.
Wonderful coffee spot! Homely feeling, delicious coffee, and great food. The decor brings me to my childhood and makes for a nice relaxing atmosphere to drink my cup of Java. We came on a very rainy morning, but the covered outdoor seating looked very inviting for when the weather is right. Definitely a new cozy spot for when the kids are at grandmas and you just need the morning to yourself.
Visited on our way home (for that needed caffeine) and was immediately in love! The space and coffee is awesome. We also loved the guys behind the counter. They were very kind and made the best latte Ive ever tasted! We ordered a red eye and caramel latte -both iced.Very smooth -no bitterness involved. If youre visiting San Antonio, make Barrio Barista a place to stop and enjoy!
Another favorite spot!! First time coming here! Wasnt too sure if we had to be seated or what. Waitress didnt say anything so we sat down. You have to go up and order yourself and they bring drinks and food to you. I had the Naked Burger and hubby the Grilled Cheese Barbacoa. Mine had some spice to it but it was so good! Owner brought us an iced coffee drink that was so good! Our hangout from now on!!
We love everything about this place! The food is so yummy and the coffee is delicious. The staff is so kind and there is always a good energy. Highly recommend.
This place would be a last meal choice for me on earth. I want the taste of the tomato soup to coat my tongue and the amazing spice from the salsa to remind me what it’s like to be alive before I die. I often times try to find a reason not to go have lunch here because I would eat here every day of my life if I had the choice.
Obsessed with the Mazapan latte. I wish this place was open whenever I went to school at St. Marys, wouldve been here all the time. Great vibe and you can tell its all about the community. Barbacoa tacos are amazing as well.
Super nice place. Its very artsy (artistic). The restaurant was playing jazz music on the speakers. Not very loud. There is a bunch of paintings on the wall. I had the breakfast coruscant and an orange juice (store bought). It is very good. My wife loves the coffee. There is also a patio to enjoy. The atmosphere is great. Its not a Mexican restaurant. Dont expect a wide variety of tacos. When you walk in it doesnt feel like San Antonio or the Westside which is okay. Well definitely go back. We had a great time.
EVERYONE IS SO FRIENDLY! And that’s even despite the fact that I (unknowingly) ordered food 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. Thanks, y’all! I’ll definitely be coming back! (Everything is also incredibly delicious).
This place absolutely deserves 5 stars! I had the veggies tacos and the roasted veggies in the tacos were magnificent. I could tell the veggies were fresh and the jalapeno avocado cream sauce was good but spicy so I only put a little on my tacos but it definitely a good taste to the veggies. My husband had the westside special and when I tell you he ate all of it. He ate all of it and he doesnt even like avocado but it was so disguised in the sandwich with the barbacoa and he loved the tomato soup as well. We will be returning to this place again in the near future.
Absolutely delicious every single time! Food is always flavorful and consistant. Drinks are delicious and I love that they offer alternative dairy free milk options. They had a carrot ginger coldpress juice available on one of my visits and it is absolutely delicious! Pictured- Sweet Potato Hash and an Americano with almond milk
Very nice atmosphere inside. Well kept and clean. Has a real coffee shop feel to it as soon as you walk in. Service was fast and friendly. Order was prepared as requested. Barbacoa tacos were delicious. Avocado was fresh and ripe. Hot sauce was amazing. Fresh as well. Horchata latte was made to perfection. Very few places you go to has the owner working behind the counter. Nice to see his pride and hard working ethic reflect on his business.
Im so glad I finally got to try this coffee shop! We sat in a cute spot with comfy, oversized chairs. They also have booths with a personal mounted TV. The whole place felt like I was in the comfort of a friends living room. The service is friendly and the Dirty Chai I ordered was fantastic!I cant wait to try their breakfast on my next visit!
Really like 4 1/2 🌟. 1st time there enjoyed the decor, outside patio the latin jazz playing through the speakers . drinks were great .esp the Horchata Latte and the Breakfast Crossant. It was hot .ham and cheese and the egg perfect. Most of all it is located in a latino community with latino art and knick knacks
Food was excellent, coffee was made perfectly, lots of flavor from both. I highly recommend to my friends and family to go here! Staff is super friendly.
Best place ever, great service and welcoming smiles, just be there before 1330 hrs because kitchen closes at 1400 and you Will want seconds.
Food is so good and fresh! The atmosphere is relaxing. Great coffee and smoothies!
This little coffee shop is SO CUTE! Ive been here a few times and Ive absolutely loved it every time! I usually always get a cappuccino and a breakfast croissant. Those are always my go-to brunch choices. Barrio Barista has an incredibly friendly and helpful staff so I always have a pleasant experience whenever I go.The interior decor and atmosphere is very trendy. The business itself is very clean and they always have someone coming around cleaning tables, which makes it much easier for the customers. The food here is always outstanding and so is there service. Id recommend this to anyone whos in the area, very worth the price.
The Westside special is simple and such a great combination a really nice vibe in the space
I love this Cafe. Took my friend there who is visiting San Antonio. Love the Barbacoa grilled cheese. Absolutely delicious. Quick service. I wish they would open one closer to me
Food was awesome! Took awhile to get our food. Nice Cafe...
I absolutely love this joint!!! Like no other place here in SA. It is such a diverse place that my 11 year old son went with me this morning and also fell in love with it. Super polite staff, friendly environment, great location, and not to forget AWESOME food and non alcoholic drinks (specifically coffee)!!! The westsides best little secret hangout!!!
My daughter picked up some food one day ate it at my house. It was a sandwich with barbacoa in it and a coffee drink that looks so good. She also had tomato soup with it. I decided for my boyfriend and I to try it out this weekend. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Its top on our list of favorite places now. The sweet bread is really really good.
Loved it! Being from LA, it made me feel like I was back home. Love the vibe and concept. Keep up the good work. My Son,Albert, is good friends with Gilbert. It was pleasure meeting Gilbert. Keep up the good work Guys.
I loved it here, staff was friendly and fast, food was amazing had both grilled cheeses and both were amazing, the salsa that came on the side paired so well with the flavor and the honey Latte was great. Definitely will be back
Was very disappointed this last time that we visited. The front person was slightly rude and We felt rushed with our order. And the young lady that gave us our order at the table didnt ask if we needed anything else, just kind of threw our stuff on the table and walked off. Had to get up and get napkins and forks. Been there a couple of times and Great experiences but this last time it was not good at all.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Ive been coming here for around 3 years and Im never let down. My favorite menu item is the naked burger, a beef patty covered in delicious grilled veggies with a jalapeño ranch type sauce on the side (that I choose to put on top). The owner is so kind and always strives for customer satisfaction, he has to be one of the sweetest people in the world. The workers/baristas are also very nice and attentive, so make sure you give them great tips ;). I like they they dont over charge for their drinks and food, and that they give you really good portions. I also got the iced Mexican mocha (iced), my sister got the hot horchata latte, and for dessert we shared the espresso nieve (espresso and vanilla ice cream).
Great cappuccino and the food was delicious! Hidden Gem
Literally three food items on the menu. They ran out of avocado. A key ingredient in their signature item, a barbacoa sandwich. Send someone to the grocery store!! You were going to be open another three hours! Offer other options, like a tomato slice. Compensate me with a discount on a dessert or coffee. Not enough seating furniture, tables and chairs. There was dining room space taken up by a very large decorative table, completely unnecessary. Had to wait a very long time for drinks. Then waited even longer for food. Wait staff seemed extremely inexperienced. We had to ask for paper napkins, salt and pepper shakers. No smiles to be found. Cashier spoke in a soft, exhausted voice, acted more like a court reporter than a welcoming host. She held up the line because she was waiting for a table order number to be returned by a staff member who was sent to look for them. Coffee refill requires a cut through the line of people waiting to place their order. This place could be so much better if they had professional guidance. Owner walked out of kitchen to greet a friend and walked him back into the kitchen to show him the remodeling progress. I wondered if he was the only one working in the back. The place was clean. The food was good. Took too much of our Sunday away.
I had thr west side special which is a grilled cheese with barbacoa and avocado and a tomato bisque. It was sooo good! Im not much for tomato soup but thos one was deelish and the barbacoa wasnt Grady and had good flavor. I also got a homemade limonada which was perfectly tart but a little on the sweet side so I suggest to ask for an extra cup of water. Seriously was good and place was clean and smelled like delicious coffee. I will be back again!
I’ve been wanting to check this place out and I’m glad I finally did. The horchata latte is great! I ordered the brisket grilled cheese with avocado and it was so good I totally forgot to take a picture. If you enjoy great coffee, food and service, make sure to check them out!!!
My wife and I try different restaurants in and around San AntonioThat are kinda hidden and not alot of people know about. We came across this Barista tucked away in the west side of San Antonio.. In my opinion, Barrio Barista has one of the best breakfast sandwichs that I have tasted... You need to come and check this place out for your self to make your own opinion.Follow us on Instagram eliteimages for more reviews
Definitely a san antonio gem located near st marys university on the westside. Beautiful, clean, and welcoming atmosphere. Fresh hot coffee, delicious unique signature drinks, and a good variety of food options. We ordered the bean n cheese tacos,Barbacoa tacos, Barbacoa grilled cheese, and the sweet potato hash. We ate alllll of it. Happy i woke up early enough to finally try the food. So yummy. Well keep coming back for sure. Thank yall.
Still a great place! Great coffee! Get there! ☕☕🍵 and do yourself a favor and have the barbacoa sandwich
Re-open finally but unfortunately feel a bit shortThey forgot about our order after I told the young lady not to forget about us sitting on the patio ... 1hr later I got my food after I gave her my receipt since they lost the original ... food delivered without the side so again falling short ... apologies given, hot food recurved and God have me patience too understandMind you this place is always on their top game however today a bit short and they weren’t to busyas usual at 10 15am
Great service I wish I had tip money.
Amazing coffee and food! Yum
First timer! The Barbacoa grilled cheese didn’t disappoint!!!! I love the environment young folk and elder folk coming together makes for good conversations! Definitely will be back!
I was looking for a local coffee place that wasnt *-bucks just for a change. I was pleasantly surprised!! I liked the casual cozy vibe to the interiors. Enjoyed my meal. Good coffee. Would definitely come back again.
I have wanted to get coffee here for a long time but I live on the other side of town. I finally made it. The staff were all masked and incredibly friendly. I tend to order pretty boring coffee drinks because Im not into super sugary coffee, but today I got the Dirty Chai on ice. It was amazing. Not overly sweet but still a treat. I wish yall were on the south or eastside too.
Second time visiting today. Last time was about 3 years ago and we thought the barbacoa grilled cheese was pretty good. Now that I am plant-based I got the sweet potato hash which was really disappointing. I thought the sweet potato was going to come out nice and crispy and spicy but it was mushy and bland. Eggs and (thin af) toast were nothing to write home about. Remoulade was the only good thing about that plate. And plastic silverware really? While we are in a plastic crisis? How irresponsible. Husband said that his barbacoa grilled cheese was not the same as last time we were here and said that the barbacoa was bland. Cafe Mocha and Mexican Mocha were good, but I dont see us coming back to this place again. Also, we got the vibe we were being rushed out of there when we were asked if we were waiting on anything else. Mediocre experience.
Your eyes & Sense of smell Shall feast various breakfast and lunch specials with great friendly ambience surrounding and of course the great tasting coffee that Mr.Gilbert the second makes with his own hands for your taste buds so enjoy towards fullest is not only eye opening but a very Welcoming invitation to your mind & soul .
Super cute and spacious interior. Warm lighting and welcoming workers. We came here after an especially bad day (car got towed) and this place turned our day around. The coffee is delicious and we ordered a breakfast croissant that was perhaps the best breakfast sandwich Ive had in a long time. This place is definitely worth the visit.
Its a fantastic little place with a unique menu, friendly staff, homey decor, and moderate prices! Definitely a nice casual place to enjoy a brunch and/or coffee
Neat place on the west side! A definitely must try for great coffee, lunch, breakfast and all
Tons of options now, got the resee frappe and it was such a good thing to try. Cool vibe from the owner
SUPER AFFORDABLE tea, coffee and pastries. Generous to large portions of tasty treats at super low prices including the coffees & teas.Surprisingly this place was very cute, quaint and comfy. The atmosphere was that of an eclectic upscale coffee shop. The place was abuzz with patrons conversating, laughing and enjoying themselves. The decor was tastefully retro with a twist of modern. Staff and owners are extra friendly and helpful. This is a hidden gem of a secret. This is also my new hangout and replacement for the more expensive Starbucks.
