My coworker told me about the place. He said it is so good. NOT!!!! I ordered chicken fried steak, fries and mashed potatoes. The only thing that was hot was chicken fried steak. I wasnt offered a refill so I dont know if thats a option. If you ever seen the movie Life. (White only pies). I paid $20 an I have to say not worth it. I could have went to Canes got good food for less. The waitress and the cornbread where nice. Should have no star option
First off Carrie was fantastic!!! I would return if the food was just of because her service was so good! The food was as amazing as Carrie was too. Had the California club and the chicken fried steak. Both were amazing. Sweet was on point too, thats important to me. I dont drink soda. Definitely going back again.

I came from out of town. I saw the diner and decided to give it a try. The chicken almondine is delicious. My waitress Robin was amazing. I was trying to decide between the chicken mozzarella and the almondine. She recommended the almondine. I have to say I was thoroughly satisfied.
Still ole faithful restaurant. The fried appetizers really good especially the Fried mushrooms! I went wrong by ordering grilled cheese and mushroom soup...not the best there..my niece ordered same but with chicken barley...definitely wont do it again...but my daughters mushroom burger looked amazing. Our waitress was great. The Diner atmosphere hasnt changed in.30 years when I really use to go alot..so I loved that! Loved reminiscing with Elvis Presley, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and good Marlon Brando.
What we got here is another typical diner sell out. Unfortunately places like this has a great atmosphere but are short handed by the food they get off a food truck thats pretty much microwavable or deep fried. Taste like 90% of the rest retro diners. Who goes to a hole in the wall diner for a seafood diner. Bet ya it was frozen. I lived in Jersey when I was young for a short period. The food there was pretty much homemade of good ingredients not alot of seafood... The Customer service and Atmosphere is what bring people here. Mostly...
My husband had the cfs and I had the fried catfish with fried okra. The daughter had the chicken fried chicken and granddaughter had burger and fries. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect. Its a little far from where we live but worth it.
410 Diner is a San Antonio treasure. Weve been eating there for over 25 years, and weve never had a bad meal. They excel at good ole American food. A well kept secret is that their sea food is better than at any of the so-called seafood places in this town. They must have their own boat! If you want to experience REAL San Antonio, you must eat here and have cornbread and honey for dessert!
Ive eaten here before and it has always been wonderful. Today, not so much. 2 friends and I stopped for lunch. After reviewing the extensive menu we ordered. After a short time the waiter brought 3 dishes, none of which we had ordered. It was for a different table. Our food came shortly after, but my friend who ordered chicken fried chicken got chicken fried steak. The waiter corrected this but it took a while. I had ordered wheat bread but was given corn bread. I ordered the Sonora casserole but it had more cumin than I can stomach. I also ordered the stewed cabbage but it was saturated in bacon grease and was inedible (for me). The waiter offered another side and chose yams. They were mashed and not tasty. I should also mention that the corn bread was room temperature and would not melt the spread that substitutes for butter. The place was not that busy when we arrived at 1130 but it was by the time we left. I dont plan on returning any time soon.
I love the food here!! The service is incredible! I truly recommend you should try the fried broccoli! For me its a must! 😁 (We came back again today, on our last day in Texas, and once again the service was instant, and tge food was amazing!) Keep up your great work 410, we will be back another time to keep enjoying your food!
Been coming here for years but in last few years didnt get to this side of town Went last weekend and great as usual. Better with even more options. Seafood plate excellent. Huge portions of everything and prices very reasonable!! Eat in or take out! Best homemade pies too Lemon meringue and Cherry my favorites. Great service.

This place has exceptional food and courteous employees. The fried catfish is top of the mark. This is my favorite place to get my hunger squashed. The portions are large and the sides proportional to the size of the entree. You will not leave wanting. Try it you will find what you want, and leave satisfied.

Wow! For 2 people I spent about $60 for lunch. Poor quality food! How dare a restaurant charge these kind of prices for sub-quality food! 3 strikes, YOUR OUT!Nothing has flavor! All sides are AS-IS. No seasoning. They comped our meal the second time, still horrible. Everything is frozen! Nothing is fresh. DO NOT GO HERE!
Huge menu, great food and great atmosphere. We only went here because our first choice had a long wait, but we are really glad we did! All 4 of us loved what we got. Highly recommend

The place looks cute from the outside but the ambiance was mediocre. As you enter they have automatic hand sanitizers on each end and they ask that you wait to be seated. We got seated immediately and their was a family sitting right in the next booth next to us. No plexy glass, no 6ft distancing, no spacing of tables! Literally my husband and the gentleman was 2ft back to back. I was a little uncomfortable about that.We did receive a nice waitress who was very inviting, warm and friendly. And made the cringe Covid experience feel a bit better. So....Moving on to the food I order an appetizer as my meal. I got the bacon cheesy fries and they tasted great! My daughter order a BLT with extra bacon and she said it was great in flavor. My husband order a salmon caesar salad, it was a nice size portion of fish; however, he complained it was dry. He had me try some and I have to agree it was very dry and bland and that sad because not even the salad dressing could save it. Overall Im rating this place a 3 star as they could use constructive criticism and could use the room for improvement in the pledge to making it a healthier Covid CDC guidelines experience. DELICIOUS… been here many times but over long periods of times in between and other places I’ve been to for some reason always change but what’s impressive is that this last time it just tasted better. They’re doing something right.
As always, this is a great place for diner food. Its hot, its tasty and its satisfying. I have visited Dean and his crew over 30 years. Ya just cant beat good food!!! Never had anything I didnt like here. And the margaritas are god, too.
Soon as I walked in, I was greeted and helped. Girls are super friendly. Great customer service. The owner was there and he was super involved. Talking to customers, greeting them. Helping in the Kitchen. Food was fresh and quickly served considering how busy it was.
There are so many great items on the menu that it is hard to not order a favorite! I have not been disappointed when I try something new...I will get the comfort food that I came for. Pay extra for the dinner salad-THAT is definitely worth it!!
Not the greatest food but they do offer a lot of vegetable options. Ild rather eat at Lubys for that kind of food. My brother likes the meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

There is extra parking behind the diner, which is great because it gets really busy during the lunch hour. Make sure you have time for your dining experience here. Due to the large lunch crowd, you can be forgotten or passed by. This is not a quick bite place, but if youre looking for a chicken fried steak kinda meal, this is your place!

Thoroughly enjoy going to this BLAST FROM THE PAST. Favorite things about this place include: terrific side dishes, freshly made pies, handmade margaritas, and most importantly atmosphere. This visit I had the salmon in butter sauce. Was a bit skeptical at first because not many places can prepare salmon without drying it out. I was very pleased. As you can see by the photo it was a generous serving. Oysters are a bit expensive, $18 for a dozen.
First time dining here. Tried the veggie plate. Absolutely impressed with mushroom artichoke soup and wished Id gotten a bowl vs cup. Was not impressed with either Sonora casserole (a little too thick, too tomato pasty) or the curried okra (way too much curry). Butter beans were fine and a good finisher to even my palate out. Should have saved the soup for last. I really enjoyed that soup!!

Wait staff was very nice and the sampler player was good, but the gravy for the chicken fried steak was pasty and the steak lacked flavor. However the ratatouille side had good flavor.

If you dont mind waiting 40 minutes for two cups of coffee and two pieces of pie I guess its ok, not what we wanted. We actually wanted lunch but waiting 20 minutes for drinks we knew we better not order anything. Two pieces of pie and coffee also came to $25 which is unacceptable. We wont be going back, lol.

Great lunch... Had a birthday party for a friend. Our poor waitress was the only one serving lunch. Dont know how she served everyone so well and with a smile. If there was more help I would have given a 5.

I am giving this place a 1 star and that is only for the waitress because its not her fault who her boss is.We just left this place.I was so ready to give this place a better rating and wanted to praise them just on my burger but what just happened turned everything upside down.My Husband, Myself and our 3 children came to 410 Diner because we have an app and coupon book that we had purchased through our daughters school. So we decided to try this place out. We came in, The owner sat us on the side with the bar at a corner table, we had to ask the bus boy to please clear the seats because there were many food crumbs. We had ordered our food and the food looked beautiful. Chicken portion on the Durango was small and the chicken on my burger was salty. I informed the waitress and she said she would let them know. The mac and cheese was not authentic, and the mashed potatoes with gravy were cold. Their mushroom artichoke soup was delicious and the rest othe food was fine. At the end of our meal, my youngest 2 said there were ants on them and they turned around and sure enough, the whole area was infested with ants and some of them flew around. I was still eating and so was my daughter when I informed the waitress and she said well dont touch them. My husband was in the restroom and we had to stay put because he had our method of payment. As I went to wipe my mouth, I removed a strand of blonde hair from my napkin, sadly it had already touched my mouth. The waitress walked up as I was removing the hair and I informed her about the hair and she let me know that it wasnt her because she had just started there and that her hair has been up. So I asked another waitress to please ask the manager to come over so I could speak to him and she said ok. I could hear a very upset man walking over saying he wasnt going to compensate us for our meal. I never said i was going to ask him to do that. He got to our table and was very rude to me in front if my children, he spoke at me in a very disrespectful manner saying he has been a owner for 38 years and never had a problem and we are the first to complain. I said ok sir well i recorded it and i will put it in my review and he argued back saying he didnt care if i showed god. He was very rude and i said my husband will discuss this with you when he gets back. So my husband then went to talk to him and this man was mainly looking at me to argue and then told my husband that he will give him a discount. We even said it wasnt about that, it was about how rude and disrespectful he was to me when i was just going to inform him about the ants and the hair. He said he had brand new napkins. My husband told him he was paying the full ticket and that we had a coupon and then he told us that he didnt have any coupons and we showed him the one that we have on the app. He took a photo of it and said he never put it there and then argued about how clean his place was and that you can eat off the bathroom floors. He then said he didnt want to argue because we were wasting his time and then I began to tell him that we were not even tryna argue with him and he began shouting pointing his fingers in my face. This man was on a rampage. We ended up just saying to give us our discount just because he was so rude.Please be careful when letting them know that there are any mistakes or complaints because this man will disrespect you and talk at you like how dare you make any complaints and this was our very 1st time here. This was a horrible experience at the end and I feel sorry for his employees. We still tipped our waitress. She even apologized and its not at all her fault.This is by far the worst experience I ever had at a restaurant.

Delicious snapper dinner.Came for dinner here and ordered the snapper dinner after thr waitress recommendation. It was absolutely delicious.This is not a high end restaurant but the way they prepared this fish was easily on par with any high end restaurant (in taste and presentation).Mashed potatoes and veggies were OK.Waitress pleasant and busy.

Service and food was horrible!The waitress forgot my grandsons plate, she also forgot the bread for my plate. We waited over 20 minutes for cold food.When our waitress came to ask how was everything, I said .... Ok....{She immediately assumed it was a cook I was talking about, when actually it was both her and the food}She asked whats wrong so I can let the cook know. I just replied and said no its ok. Nothing.She walked away laughing.NEVER AGAIN!!!

Have been to this place and liked the food and service unfortunately today when we went in my husband asked if we could sit at a booth and she told him yes, we went back to sit down and after about 10 minutes the owner came and sorta threw the menus on the table and said the table was reserved for someone else. We got up and as I was walking out the door I told him the table was open for his supposed reserved party. His response back to me was have a great day. My husband told him he needed to speak to his staff about seating people. The owner then told him tell me who the waitress was and if you can I will pay for your food. They went back to the kitchen because thats were she was, she told them she did not remember sitting us back there. Its obvious she and others are fearful of getting fired BUT the unprofessional and rudeness of this owner is truly unacceptable. Take your business somewhere else...there are plenty of places that would love your business and owners would not call out his staff in front of a crowded dining room. Disgrace......

Ive loved their food for decades and they never let me down. Excellent quality, perfectly prepared. The vegetables are what I go for a lot of the time -- never overcooked or overseasoned. But everything Ive had there is like that - delicious. One of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio.
I had thier Hamburger Steak with sauteed mushrooms with added onions and brown gravy, my side choices were mash potatoes and corn. The hamburger stake was moist and delicious, one of my favorites. My sides were tasty too even better when added to the steak. If your looking for a non food chain place to go, with great food, 410 dinner is it. Its a medium sized restaurant with a 1950s theme... a great local place!
Wonderful place for American cuisine. Large selection of prepared veggies and soups. The tomato soup was absolutely DeVine.
Very casual diner. The seafood dishes are very fresh. Good selection of sides. Only complaint was lack of seasoning. Cornbread was excellent. Will definitely return.

This is our first time here and we were so undecided on where to go and decided to drive down Broadway and out of all the restaurants we chose 410 Diner and so happy we did.... food is absolutely amazing and delicious here!( and that’s because I am a picky eater lol) My husband and I ordered the fried pork chops and California chicken and we shared both plates which again was so very delicious... portion size is good! Just so much food! Staff was friendly which is very important for us! Great service! Love this place is great!

Mushroom and artichoke was the best soup I’ve ever had.
Good food, decent portions, friendly waitress. The fried pork chops were delicious. I liked that they had plenty of sides to choose from and they werent your typical sides. The dressing on the caesar salad was good but didnt taste like Caesar salad dressing. Didnt care for the corn bread. It was very dry. The curry okra was delicious. they were doing a lot of cleaning while we were there getting ready to close for the evening. I felt it was a little pricey for what you get.
