I got a free floating rail installed on a Ruger AR556. The gunsmith was upfront with all the work that would be done and gave an estimate that was close to the final amount. Gun is in working order and the turnaround was shorter then expected. This shop can be trusted and I would recommend gunsmith services to others.

Bracken Guns Dont Stand Behind the Guns They SellI purchased a berretta 92A1 from Bracken Guns.  My wife and I also took concealed carry class from them, which was excellent.I had talked to the salesman about the 92A1 threaded barrel and was told it was used for upgrades, etc.  Everything was good.  They were friendly, etc.About 4 months later (May 2021), I went to berretta.com and decided to purchase a muzzle brake for the 92A1 to reduce recoil.  I purchased a muzzle brake that would fit all their threaded barrel 9mms.  After the muzzle brake arrived, it didnt fit the barrel.  I called berretta.com and spoke to their support.  They told me, it should fit.  You may want to purchase the muzzle brake that was designed specifically for the 92 series.  So, I returned the purchased muzzle brake and bought the muzzle brake specifically for the 92 series.  It arrived, and it didnt fit.  I called back berretta.com and spoke to one of their support staff.  The individual then transferred me to another senior support staff.  I was told by the support personnel at Berretta, that Berretta (USA) had experienced a huge backlog for US guns during COVID.  The Italian arm of the company (parent) decided to send Italian versions of the gun to the US to make up for the backlog.  I was told by the support staff that I it wouldnt fit, and none of the muzzle brakes for the Berretta would fit because the threaded barrel was metric.  He said these guns originally were never meant to be sold in the US.  I asked if I would be able to purchased an Italian version of the muzzle brake, and he told me that Berretta (Italy) doesnt export any Italian parts outside of the EU.After doing exhaustive research on the issue, I found out, If I wanted to spend a lot of money to rectify it, I had one of two choices:1) Send it to a qualified Gunsmith recommended online to have the barrel rethreaded.2) Replace the barrel with a US barrel and several other parts that wouldnt fit with the US barrel unless they were also replaced.Next, I went to the Berretta (Italian) website and tried to order the Italian muzzle brake for the 92 series.  Immediately an Italian support staff started a chat session with me and told me I was on the Italian website.  I needed to go to the US website.  I explained my problem with the metric barrel and the muzzle brake orders.  She told me that Berretta (Italy) was not allowed by EU law to send parts to the US.  They said my only recourse was to take the gun back to the vendor that sold it and have them (Bracken Guns) replace the gun.  The next step would be for Bracken Guns to deal with Berretta US directly to get it resolved.So, September 3rd, I arrived back at Bracken Guns and told them (two support staff) I had a problem with my purchase.  I explained the whole thing, along with what Berretta told me to do.  I was told that the owners were away, but they would call them.  The Bracken Gun staff member went back out of the room with my receipt and called the owners.  The staff member came back and told me I could return the gun for a refund, but they would charge me a 25% restocking fee.  I told them that I was not going to get charged a 25% restocking fee (179.00).  I wanted a complete refund.  Then, as Berretta said, they should go back to Berretta US to resolve the issue.  The staff member said that with the restocking fee was the only way that they would give a refund.  I told them that they needed to stand behind the guns they sell.  Why would I buy a gun with a threaded barrel that I couldnt upgrade?  They told me, I didnt tell them I was planning on upgrading it.  First of all, neither one of them sold the gun to me, so they wouldnt know what I said or didnt say.  I said to the staff members, when I bought the gun, I was assuming that Bracken Guns were the gun experts.  They told me, we dont claim to be gun experts.  We only sell guns because we have an FFL license.I will never buy another product from Bracken Guns, nor recommend them to anyone.Thanks,Bill G.

Both are military veterans and have a wealth of knowledge with small arms training.The store is very organized, well stocked, and managed by a friendly staff (no ego’s). I was looking online for a place to get ammo and was curious about your training sessions. You had many good reviews, so I thought it would be a good idea to come in and check it out. My fiance and I came in, I was immediately greeted rudely by a woman at the counter asking if I had a mask. I said no and before I could explain or say anything she said well you cant come in here. Ive worked in customer service my entire life and we also own a small business. I could never imagine treating or speaking to a customer so poorly before they even got a foot in the door. We just moved to Texas and been to quite a few gun stores already. This is the first gun store thats ever even said anything about a mask, let alone been extremely rude about it. Its one thing to ask nicely, Hey, can you please put a mask on?, but its another to snap at customers. Very turned off by that, reminded me of when I go into Liberal owned stores such as Starbucks. At least they ask politely when Ive gone in. We have lots of family amd friends moving into the area too that we were scouting out a good gun store and training. Its sad that youve lost potential customers over this. I would definitely try having a different approach. My vibe from that was immediately liberal. Not a lot of people will be okay with a leftist viewing gun store. I dont know if its because you are in San Antonio, but I hope you do better in the future with customer service.

I took the Ladies only basic handgun and LTC class. It seemed like the 6 hour class just flew by! The instructors were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Most women are afraid to take a gun class because they feel that male instructors will be overbearing, but that was definitely not the case. I felt very comfortable, and even more so now with my handgun. Overall, it was a very valuable and fun experience. I would recommend everyone I know take their LTC class here!

Absolutely great place to visit for both purchasing and just gathering knowledge. I was greeted by a young lady named Vanessa. She was a very knowledgeable person with a great personality. The gun selection was incredible. I had such a great experience I purchased 3 guns from them. I will be returning.

I recently visited to purchase my fist handgun. The staff was incredibly patient and helpful with me, I was looking for a Glock 19 but, it was explained to me that there were more than decent alternatives. My daughter and I went through the Concealed Handgun License course taught by Chuck and Chris. Absolutely great class with a lot of relevant information in gun safety and the law. The class was supplemented with many current news stories and live examples that kept it really interested. There were a lot of ladies in the class too so dont be afraid to come. My daughter was able to move through the course with no problems and shes not an experienced gun person. Thanks Chuck and Chris for your continued outstanding support to the community.

These guys are A+ professionals. They are so absolutely approachable and easy to talk to, unlike some of the bigger gun stores in town. I compete and train seriously, so Im very specific and demanding on the work I have done with my weapons. They have met every one of my demands and I now refuse to use any other place in town.I first spoke with Zach, the apprentice gunsmith i later found out, young dude but another A+ pro. He took the order for my .22 competition rifle optic project and my .22 iron sights rifle and explained in great detail everything they would do, and also included all the information he couldnt tell me that he would have to ask the gunsmith. So he told me everything he knew they would do and everything he knew he didnt know gow they would do it, A++. I really couldnt stump him with a question and Im super demanding haha. No way youd guess hes a teenager.After that I had them build my first AR so I could train and compete in NRA High Power competition, in the Service Rifle division. It only had a 16 inch barrel to save me some money. The weapon they helped me with got me a 466 out of 500 on an reduced 200 yard-only High Power match, my very first match. That gun still outshot me haha and I trained super hard.Israel, the gunsmith, is a sterling professional who gives you great info and took plenty of time answering my questions where in other places in town you might never meet the gunsmith. He put up with me bothering them both on the phone and in person about some questions I had. I was so confident in the weapon after all of that, never worried about a thing with this rifle in my competition.Im going big league now and have a 20 inch WOA competition worthy barrel being installed by them. I dont give trust easily, but I will not trust anyone else to build my weapons.

I got a gun for Christmas because I wanted to feel safe. I have never shot a gun in my life. My sister wanted to take the license to carry class with me, but she knew we would be more comfortable taking a class with other women. Bracken Guns/Tactical Safety Institute is the one place that popped up - Thank you Bracken for offering your Ladies Only classes!We took the Basic Handgun and License to Carry combination class. It was the perfect combination of an introduction to guns, gun safety and the rules and laws. The classroom part gave a lot of information, but Chuck and Chris presented it in a fun and engaging format. These guys know their stuff! Everyone passed the written test with no problem.As we headed out to the range to do the shooting portion of the class, I was apprehensive. I thought for sure shooting would be hard, and aiming would be even harder, but these guys teach an amazing technique. My first shots - and every shot after was in the perfect score range. My gun was new and had a few problems as we went along, but Chris was right there watching and making sure it functioned properly. Safety is their number one focus - and that made me feel safe. That is the whole purpose of taking this class and I am so glad we chose to take it at Tactical Safety Institute!

I did my license to carry class here. The store was clean and well organized. The staff was very knowledgeable and courteous. During the class itself, the instructors made sure everyone understood what was needed without making it feel boring for those that had a little better grasp. The range facilities were adequate and well kept. The instructors acted as range safeties as well and gave good briefings before during and after. I recommend going to them.

I had an excellent experience taking Basic gun and concealed permit classes. The Instructors were very knowledgeable, professionals and made the class easy to understand. I highly recommend these classes. And of course I will be a customer from now on.

Stopped by Bracken Guns yesterday to have their gunsmith take a look at a handgun that I have been having problems with. I picked Bracken, because on their website the gunsmith is listed as being a former U.S. Marine. I am really glad I chose Bracken Guns, because their friendly staff and customer service won me over completely. They also have a very nice selection of guns and supplies. The gunsmith checked out my gun and said it was good and didnt even charge me for his time. Highly recommend this place!

Every time I enter the store I am always greeted by Vanessa or Jacob. Both have excellent customer service skills. Vanessa is very knowledgeable about weapons, especially when it comes to what may work best for females. Jacob is very patient with all customers and never rushes anyone. Both make you feel as though you are the only one in the store and will answer countless questions, no matter how insignificant it may be. Having a very good gunsmith, on site, in Israel is an added feature. He does great work too. I continue giving my business to Bracken because of Vanessa and Jacob.

I personally have had a smooth experience with Bracken Guns. Ive come to them for minor gunsmithing, for which they offer excellent prices and timely work at great quality. Their gunsmithing is the best youll need at a price point you cant beat. It is actually cheaper to bring in your new sights, have them professionally installed, and pay the fee, than to purchase the tools to install them yourself. The staff was all polite and patient with my questions, courteous, and I found them approachable. In the gun community, that can be hit-or-miss and its important we 2A community members show the right attitude to people walking in the doors. If I had a daughter that wanted to learn about firearms, this would be my first stop. Look, I can keep going but if you need more convincing you probably arent asking the right questions to begin with. 10/10 for service and craftsmanship.

Ive had a CHL for the past 35 years in four different states. The class and process for obtaining my license in TX at Bracken Guns was one of the best Ive experienced. Straightforward, informative, no BS, and walking away with the confidence that I had what I needed to complete the process. The instructors were first class, experienced, and enjoyable to hear. Really good buying experience. I had a sketchy experience at my home with a maintenance worker, and felt I needed to be on the safe side that day, and was in and out in less than an hour. I didnt feel like an idiot walking in here, and the owner, Chris, and his coworker Vanessa, were really helpful and personable. Explained the essentials in laymans terms, more than once. Went on a Tuesday morning LTC class. Chuck and Chris taught a well paced and in-depth course. Taking the time to make sure we all understood the material and answer all of our questions.They offered a nice military discount for active and veterans!They also laid out the steps for the application process for the LTC, as easy as 1,2,3!I would definitely go back there again.

I went to Bracken Guns to shop some guns to my son in Arizona. We had issues with the shipping. 16 days later, Chris making a trip to USPS and on the phone with them to open a case to find the packages, they finally arrived. He went above and beyond to help me. He could have just given me the tracking number and sent me on my way. But he didnt, thank goodness.

Had the barrel nut and gas block changed on my AR15 upper this week. Excellent job. They cleaned my barrel extinction and barrel so good that it looks new. I will definently be doing business with yall again.

Purchased a high end shotgun from Bracken 2 days ago. I was in and out of the store in under 25 minutes, background check and all. Very helpful and friendly environment. Gave me a great deal too. I plan on returning to Bracken.

Had bought here and had transfers in the past with no issues. Recently contacted them if they were still open and accepting transfers and quick reply, which led me to look for a rifle on their online store and emailed multiple questions without reply. That is ok, I know things are difficult lately with the circumstances and I ordered anyways. Waited just over 2 weeks, item arrived, I went to store to pick up and the next day, took to the range. 13 misfires (light primer strikes) in 50-60 rounds, took bolt out, cleaned again, no change. Ammo very reliable and I shot 300-400 of same ammo last weekend through my AR with no misfires. Tried to call to see about stopping in because again I know things are busy lately and no answer or call back so I emailed (not sure why since no prior luck with email) because I thought maybe it may be easy to trouble shoot and save their time going in. No reply. Yes these are difficult times but I have bought 5 other firearms in the last month with no issues. No hard feelings, I will go elsewhere next time but this wasnt a transfer, a rifle I bought through their online store, would like to think followup and response could have been better.

Knowledgeable and Nice SelectionWeve bought several pieces here and have always had a good experience. The staff are all knowledgeable and extremely nice so if youre looking for your first gun they will make sure to help you find the right gun for your hand and your pocketbook. They also run a number of classes on shooting and gun safety. While, I havent taken them personally, Ive heard they are excellent. The only downside is that their prices can be on the high side- but if youre looking for cheap youll lose the knowledge, and the service.

Ive bought two firearms here and each time the staff was patient and very friendly. They let me take as much time as I needed to make a decision and didnt try to rush me at all. I bought a used firearm and it worked perfectly and looked brand new to me. Highly recommend this store.

The Bracken Guns store is a really great store. I have been there several times now and have always appreciated the staff there. I was there today for my Concealed Handgun License course, and it was amazing. They run a very good program there! And their range is really nice too! I highly recommend this store, both for their merchandise, and for their CHL classes!

I took two classes there, basic gun and concealed carry class. Both classes were well run and enjoyable. On the range the instructors were very nice, helpful, and professional. I highly recommend them if you need to take a class.

Upon walking through the doors, you will be greeted by professional and courteous employees who have not forgotten the lost art of customer service. Their gunsmith, Israel is a disabled Marine whose knowledge rivals any gunsmith in Texas. Israel took an hour of his time to help diagnose an AR-10 that wasn’t cycling properly, and did so with a smile and professionalism the entire time.I would drive an hour just to support these fine gentlemen and great business. Please do the same.

I took my LTC class here today and the two owner/instructors where very helpful and friendly. They made taking this class very relaxed and pleasant. Unlike most places around town to take your LTC class that do charge to use their gun. These guys dont charge you to use their gun at the range to qualify with. I highly recommend this place for all your classes. My only regret was not bringing my wife today. So she will be going here soon. God Bless and Guns Up

Took the LTC class. The staff is very friendly and they don’t pressure you. Their knowledge is refreshing and well worth the trip. In the process of taking the class I bought the Taurus G2C 9mm and had it ready to fire at the range. Highly recommend to go here.

Took this class on Saturday with three other women and completely enjoyed the experience. Chuck and Chris, the owners, were thorough in their instruction of both safety and the law with regard to obtaining a concealed handgun license. They both have years of experience in law enforcement and weapons and that was obvious in their ability to explain the material and answer questions. The actual shooting portion of the class was causing the four of us the most anxiety because none of us has had too much experience shooting. These two men were fabulous! There were several other people in our same situation and each of us received individual instruction loading, unloading, using our sights, standing properly, and most importantly, handling our weapons safely. To top it off....they were hilarious, patient, and eager to help. Two of us purchased guns that day and have arranged for some private lessons with both Chuck and Chris. We have found a new hobby and way to spend our girls day out!!! Absolutely recommend Bracken Guns!

I bought my wife a handgun, in their gun shop, for Christmas. My wife had never fired a handgun. So we signed-up for their basic handgun class. The class was very informative, and helpful. The instructor, Jeff, was professional, knowledgeable and patient. You can tell Jeff enjoys what he does. He stresses the seriousness of gun ownership in a fun and entertaining way. After going to the near-by range several days for practice, we took the concealed handgun class. Chuck and Chris were the instructors. They were outstanding. With a military/law enforcement background, they just dont talk the talk, they can walk the walk. Chuck, Chris, and Jeff not only served our country, now they are serving their community. They are sharing their vast knowledge and experience so law-abiding citizens can protect himself/herself, their family, and loved ones. Being former military, I salute you. My wife was nervous during the firing testing. They were calming and reassuring. I have purchased three handguns from their gun shop. You may pay a few bucks less at one of the big box sporting goods store, but the personal service and GREAT customer service you receive, is worth a lot more than a few bucks. So Armando, Jeff, Chris, Chuck, Israel, and Zach thank you. Dont let Zachs youthful appearance fool you. He is very knowledgeable and helpful in handgun selection. Bracken is my go to gun store I have done 99% of my business with them and will continue doing so, Chuck and the entire staff are extremely helpful and Ive seen them spend as much time as necessary with first time gun owners as needed to make sure they feel as comfortable as possible with their purchase, unfortunately I recently had to replace a firearm that became nonfunctional and non repairable so I called bracken and spoke with both Chuck and Chris and explain ed what I was looking for once I made my decision on the firearm I wanted I called Chris and he ordered the gun immediately this was on a Thursday it arrived on Friday but due to my job is dont get in town until late Saturday, Chris went out of his way to stay later than he had to so I could pickup my new firearm, I dont know any other gun shop that will do this. Chuck and Chris u have me as a customer until I either have no desire to own a firearm or get too old to operate one

These guys are great. I took the CHL class about 3 weeks ago. They know their stuff, are down to earth and it was a great learning environment.Fast forward a week later. I took a private lesson with Tim. Highly recommend Tim as an instructor. We spent 2 hours working on conceal carry drills. He got me down from a little over 2 seconds to 1.6 seconds draw from conceal carry appendix carry 3 shots on target. Moving and shooting drills. He also helped me to have more confidence in carrying. Its a big deal to carry, a big responsibility and I feel more comfortable. I will be working with Tim. I got permission to post videos on YouTube. Chris Patten (sp?) went well above the professionalism I expect from retail stores; his personality as well as complete practical knowledge of guns impressed me, making it more comfortable for a purchase that is a little personal to each individual.To boot, I did shop around for other prices, and was very pleased with my purchase price. They are a young store, but dedicated into growing their business it seems. Next purchase is definitely through them!

Yaaaalllllllll..... The LTC class was so great! My friend and I took the class with Israel. He was the best. Very informative and straight to the point. Hes easy going and answered all our random questions! Lol.. I highly recommend taking the class with him!

Sat in a class with one of my wounded soldiers. Had a great class and it was taught very well. I already have my CHL and it was nice for me just to sit through it. Always something to learn and a good refresher.The store was well equipped, clean and good prices.

GREAT place for the CHL... The trainers were fantastic and insightful. Prices are high... Really! Also... One employee (or2) is pure gun snobs. That said, not a bad selection for a small store... But... doesnt have sales like its competitors.

Great shop for getting armed or getting license training and in some cases getting trained

This place has potential but they have incompetent kids running the store. Ive tried to have firearms shipped to them. They cant seem to figure out on how to send an email or fax. Very unfortunate because they are the close to my home. Maybe when they hire people with an I.Q higher than their show size I will try to give them my business.I had modern elite firearms to the gel transfer. They did everything within an hour of me asking them. I had the pistol in 2 days and it was $5 cheaper. Lesson learned.

Chris and Chuck were great instructors and very respectful. It was evident that they knew their stuff and were always willing to answer questions. My mom and I used this as a mother-daughter day but werent expecting to enjoy ourselves so much.

Great Training Site for License to Carry Training. Covered all the bases and the firing range was excellent. The instructors were very knowledgeable and safety was stressed and practiced at all times.

Friendly knowledge staff that does not treat you like an inconvenience if you’re not purchasing the most expensive item in the store. I recommend Bracken Guns to anyone that asks where to buy a weapon from in the San Antonio area.

Great place, and very knowledgeable. I chose to get my CHL/LTC training here secondary to veteran own, word of mouth as being top notch, and the cost was not gouged like so many other places. Chuck and Chris kept it amusing throughout the class, never a dull or boring moment. Im glad I discovered this place as I will surely return for firearm /accessory purchase, maintenance, and repair

Quality gun selection, really impressive for such a small store! All staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are fair and they have an online store as well, with increased selection and availability.

First and foremost, I’ve moved from California two months ago from a Law Enforcement Job to live here in Texas. I know cops and retired cops when I see them we all walk, talk and act the same. Chris and Chuck are both knowledgeable, witty guys who have spent decades learning and teaching firearms, tactics and self defense. They’ve lived it, breathed it and know it. If you are not sure about signing up and attending a firearms class do yourself a favor pick a day (Saturday is best in my opinion) Spend 5 Hours, trust me its BLAZING FAST and the get your CHL class completed. Good instructors leave you with knowledge, but also have you wanting more, these gentlemen are just that. Go take a class you won’t be disappointed because good information doesn’t replace other good information.

Our family took the LTC class today and it was very informative and the class was given in a very professional but fun manner, I would very much recommend if you are considering taking a LTC class do it at Bracken Guns.

Completed my LTC/CHL certification today. Both Chuck and Chris are very knowledgeable and made the class so much fun. Questions were welcomed and the information was relevant to Texas laws. i even spent time looking at their extensive firearms and when I asked question to the store staff I was not made to feel like an inferior female, which has happened at other locations. Highly recommend these guys.

The guys there are great and very knowledgeable of the firearms they sell, I have bought 4 guns from Bracken and have had no problems. They have quite a few of accessories on had. I also took my CHL there.
