Do not buy the day old donuts, they are rock hard. The fresh one was okay but you should never sell something you know is not edible. Disappointed.

This is the WORST place to buy vegan donuts. Please read reviews as I should have done prior to purchase. The man behind the counter said he had day old donuts for sale. Being that we drove awhile to get there for vegan donuts we decided to give it a try. Bad decision it turned out to be. These donuts felt and tasted old as dirt (even the claimed fresh ones) and should have never been sold to the public. They tasted a week old and could not even break in half on some of them. My family felt sick after trying them which lead me to actually call the shop and request my money back. He began to get upset with me and tell me some of the donuts I bought are suppose to be crunchy!!! I asked him why would people look to buy crunchy donuts when soft and fluffy is the demand. He was offended at my response and told me he had another customer and he would not refund my money. My question is how can you have an attitude with me and there are so many reviews with the same exact issue repeated by multiple people. Well now that I think of it, he gets these issues all the time and instead of remedying the problem he acts like it is the customers fault the donuts are stale. The place was not clean and flies were around the food too. I am not trying to be rude I am just warning future potential customers. The decision is yours.

2.5 stars. We had both regular & vegan donuts & they were both stale tasting. Donuts were definitely not soft or moist.. Probably a little too much sugar as well. Bummer, as I was looking forward to it. Better off going vegan at whole foods.

The vegan treats at Donut Panic are extraordinary, and probably not right for die-hard classic donut fans. The consistency of the vegan donuts are very unique when compared to traditional donuts. They are more akin to homemade donuts. The flavors of donut icing at this local shop are also exotic and interesting: rose, cardomom, Earl grey tea, lavender, and Thai tea. Try one or two before diving into a dozen. They can be very filling.

The idea is good, but the delivery is not. Second time trying them as I like close by and want to support local businesses. But this was just not good at all. I give 2 stars for trying but honestly theyre probably less. More expensive than other places, no flavor, hard pastries and the ambiance is a bit off, including a little over the top Sailor Moon piece.

I will quote the owner of the store who said last night If youre not satisfied with the donut, I will refund your money. I stand confidently by my product.I am not satisfied with the donuts. I will be back to explain to the owner in person.Heres why: the way the dough turned out in all 3 vegan donuts I got were stale, tasted like 4 day old fried white bread. Texture was a hard and tough. We got the Bavarian Cream, Peanut Butter, and Earl Grey. The owner/donut maker got the sugar part okay, but the dough was unacceptable.

The whole experience at this coffee shop was fantastic! The service was great, and my waiter was very tolerant of my limited English skills. He suggested the fantastic burger salad, and the cake was, of course, delicious. The ambiance is refined and welcoming. There isnt a single drawback that I can think of. This coffee shop is a must-visit for all coffee connoisseurs!

Vegan donuts! And bagels with vegan cream cheese or butter option. The donuts are small but reasonably priced $2.00 for plain donuts. (Sprinkles, maple dipped, cinnamon). They have sit and almond milk. They would have had perfect stars but the appearance isn’t a strong suit. Friendly customer service.

Let me regale you with a tale of ordering from this fine establishment. We placed an order online for a few vegan donuts and drove a decent distance to pick them up. The man behind the counter informed us that online ordering hasnt worked since September (8 months) and that we should have called. He had his mask pulled down to his chin the whole time. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and order a few anyway, since we had driven from UC to try them. We got home and flashed the donuts in the oven (Covid precaution since the dude wasnt wearing a mask). I couldnt make it through one donut. They tasted old, and even if they were fresh the flavors were pretty mediocre. Home cooked, yeast-risen donuts tend to be a bit tougher and denser, but this was beyond that. It was probably the worst donut Ive had in my life and Id consider myself a bit of a donut connoisseur (my cat is named Donut, which shows my dedication to the art).I rarely post reviews, but as a dude with a few years of professional experience in the kitchen, I want to alert people that this probably isnt the safest place to eat. If you want vegan donuts, hit up Nomad in North Park.

Give this place a chance! To start off, we didnt go here on purpose. lol We had pulled into this plaza to get lunch nearby, and a friend decided she wanted to see what this vegan donut thing was about. The owner was so incredibly friendly, and excited to tell us all about the donuts (omg, theres SO many good-sounding combos!) that we decided to get a few amd split them up to try a bit of each. So glad we did! We tried the rosewater almond, the fig-bacon, the thai tea and bavarian cream, and an apple fritter. I was so impressed! All were so tasty (the apple fritter was a little over cooked/crunchy, but still tasted delicious). I was so suprised at these vegan donuts. Id definitely come again, even if just to chat it up with the owner. :)

Spectacular service and great donuts! We called ahead close to closing time and the man who would serve us assured us he would still be there in time for us to arrive and pick up our donuts and sure enough he was! I ordered some donuts online, then drove about 30 minutes to go get them. When I arrived, I was lectured by the man behind the counter (who was wearing his mask on his chin) that they havent done online ordering since last Sept, and that I should either call to place an order or just stop by. The shop was really dirty, but hey, they have vegan donuts so I decided to still give them a try.I got 3 vegan donuts and a fritter. When I got home, I flashed them in the oven cause the worker wasnt wearing a mask and the shop was so dirty. If anything, that should have softened them up a bit. They were at least a day old and crunchy. It sounded like I was eating granola when I chewed it. If youre not willing to make fresh donuts, dont open shop. I threw them out.Bad service. Bad donuts. Dirty shop. No masks.

Im sorry! I really wanted to love the donuts! Especially because the gentleman serving was so nice and accommodating. Even though there was a line behind me, he took the time to describe the flavors when I told him I had never been there before and was looking for regular donuts. He told me Id never go back to regular donuts after having these, but unfortunately they were not my cup of tea. 😥I would say the flavors were there, not over the top delicious but ok. Where Donut Panic loses me is on texture. The donuts were all chewy and tough. I would have described them more like sweet breads instead of donuts. Maybe this is what vegan donuts are like? If so, Ill stick with the standard donuts.

Best vegan donut selection in town! I enjoy some of the other spots to get vegan donuts, but they all have such limited quantities or you have to buy a half dozen at a time. I had the Earl Grey donut, which actually tasted like black tea and not just citrus, and then the Bavarian custard-filled which was just oh beyond satisfying! I havent tried the cake donuts, but I think its fantastic they have both options. While absolutely not in line with my nutrition plan, I will be returning here often.

Went in to get a vegan donut and one of the workers was in the back washing trays. So I patiently waited and he looked back at me so I assumes he would finish up and come help. Didn’t say anything and continued washing. I asked are you guys not open (even though the sign outside said open), no response...So I continued to wait and he looked back again and turned around and continued to wash. I asked if someone could help me. No response... so I just said thank you and left without being served or even ACKNOWLEDGED. Rudest experience of my life.A simple I will be right with you, one moment, I need a minute would have been sufficient. I stood there for so long there really is no excuse for that type of treatment.

Interesting wall decorations - projects from local artist, UCSD poster making the library look like a UFO (I asked ad apparently UCSD had a ComicCon thing and this poster was made for the event) a Donut Panic painted logo, old school speakers and record player. They have board games and other events that are listed on a chalkboard sign as you enter. Its a neighborhood donut shop in this college area, not a fancy downtown type spot but its charming. It may look simple and a bit jumbled together, but I see the potential and imagine game nights and groups just hanging out. Im quirky and odd and I like it.I just wish my cold icy frap drink had more flavor. He (Im guessing hes the owner) hasnt perfected that one. 😉 I think the cold drink options were just added because other spots offer cold drinks. A little sweetener and its fine. The donut was fine though and I used it to give me my desired sweetness.I did comment to the two people working how much I appreciate the things theyve done and offer to customers.

My girlfriend (who is vegan) and I were excited to check out this donut shop however when we arrived we were disappointed of how dirty the shop area was, the donuts available, and how unclear the vegan options were. Every sign in the shop advertised vegan donuts yet when I asked to make sure the donuts we selected were vegan he said no and at the time he didn’t have any. Unfortunately my girlfriend took a sample bite of said donuts and was a bit crestfallen.I’m happy the cashier didn’t lie to us but nonetheless vegans should ask to clarify which donuts are ok for them

I come here for the vegan donits and Im not vegan!! Their traditional donuts and coffee are great also; my husband gets that. These donuts though, have ruined me -- the texture is dense and more like a quality pastry which I now crave. Ive had a lemon filled with powdered sugar topping, and a raspberry filled with chocolate icing, but Boston creme is always my favorite! The classic ring donuts that are vegan, are iced with unique flavors. We stumbled upon this place by accident 2 years ago and it became our place to go, even driving 15 min from home. Now we live on the East coast and when I return to San Diego it is a place I make a point to go. I have not found vegan Donuts anywhere else.

TL;DR Flavorless donuts with awful texture served in a VERY dirty store by occasionally rude/unsanitary staff (with the exception of the owner/manager Linda) Just go to Donut Bar or Whole foods, dont settle for this place.PROS:-Nicely decorated donuts-Owner puts effort into creating new/interesting flavors-Vegan donuts-Owner invests time into hosting community events-Cupcakes are goodCONS:- Dirty dining area- Dirty Couch and storage cooler in dining area- Dirty Drink making area- Which makes me think the kitchen is dirty as well- Bland, lightly sweetened donuts (this would be a pro if they werent bland)- Vegan donuts have the texture of unsweetened vegan bread- Limited selection, and often-times sold out-Staff needs lessons cross contamination (Ive witnessed food handling while money handling by staff on 4 separate occasions that Ive been there)-$2 for a mediocre vegan donutI want to like this place. The owner/manager is a great person who is very likable and has good intentions with her store. First and foremost it is a donut shop and their donuts (though vegan) are awful. Going through highly rated review for this place gave me high hopes that it would be phenomenal, but I was GROSSLY disappointed by what Ive eaten there every single time. It is incredibly disappointing too, given the level of effort put forth in coming up with new and interesting flavors that of the 4 times Ive been here, the donuts have been far below average at best. Combined with the uncleanliness of the store and rudeness of the staff, I would not recommend this store to anyone I know, vegan or not.
