I love this place. The donuts are so delicious and they always have unique flavors. The bagel sandwiches are AMAZING! Show up early to beat the line! I usually order online direct from them and pickup, they have a curbside option and you just text when youre there. They have some outdoor seating as well. The environment has great energy. Its not the cheapest but you definitely get what you pay for. Sometimes they have special events, we got the valentines special last year and it was so good, see pic. I recommend following them on Instagram to see what they have going on.
First donuts I’ve had in San Diego and they did not disappoint. I think I accidentally ordered a vegan donut (I’m not vegan) but it was nevertheless one of the better donuts I’ve ever had. The dough has a very chewy texture, it’s unlike any donut I’ve had but very good. There are many many unique toppings/flavors it’s hard to not want to try them all. Coffee was great and so was the breakfast bagel sandwich. As a newbie to SD I’ll definitely be returning.
Without question, this is the best donut shop Ive ever been to! Their specialty donuts are very unique, delicious, and super fresh.A lot of my family and friends love Sidecar donuts, but they havent been to Nomad yet - Im confident Nomad will be their new favorite! Prices arent as expensive at Nomad too!I had a bagel sandwich for the first time today. I havent had a bagel as fresh as theirs in a looong time. All of their ingredients seem high quality. It was amazing.
Delicious donuts and sandwiches!! Best vegan breakfast in SD! Coffee is top notch also ;)
I gave this establishment 3 stars because they were out of drip coffee. Coffee and donuts go hand in hand. I bought 3 donuts. Maple, mango and lilikoi and a guava. The mango and lilikoi was the only donut that really had any taste. I also purchased a Diego scramble. It was yummy. Especially the potatoes.
Donuts are amazing and bagels are surprisingly good too, especially the fried chicken!
Nomad Donuts is one of my top favorite spots for Donuts and Bagels and they HAVE BRISKET too. Its very delicious and fresh and the bagels and the cream cheese are SO GOOD. The Donuts are different (2chainz voice). Truuuuuu. And its Black Owned so yeah they can take my money any time.
Seeing the reviews and pictures of their donuts, I thought it was a safe bet that these would be good tasting, good quality donuts. That evidently is not the case. I ordered a half dozen, 2 of each of the apple cider, cinnamon churro donut, and blackberry rosemary varieties. Both the churro and apple cider were lacking extremely in taste, the most coming from the cinnamon sugar on the outside rather than the dough. On top of that, both those varieties were abnormally moist in the centers. The apple cider actually proving to be undercooked as it is basically raw dough towards the middle (see pictures). Overall this shop is more show than it is taste, and thats just disappointing especially considering this cost me $18!! I will definitely be getting a refund though with lack of receipt on their part, I will probably have to go through my payment processor.TLDR: If you want pretty aesthetic donuts for your feed, for sure come here. But if youre actually wanting to enjoy the donuts after the pic, dont waste your time or money.
Went there last Sunday and I was a little disappointed. Donuts looks good but taste good but not worth it the price. I had the churros style and the one with strawberries on top. The bagel sandwich is expensive and took forever to be ready even was jot busy at all at 7 am. $10.oo for a chicken/bacon and an extra $2.00 for 1 egg!! The piece of chicken was small yet the sauce taste very very good. Charging $12 for a bagel sandwich they should definitely give a decent piece of chicken.
It was my first time there. I love the menu. I got there a little late in the day. So most of the donuts were gone, but I love the ones I got. I recommend getting there early if you want to get a good selection of donuts. Also its a little pricey but its worth it anyway. I bought me a t-shirt to support the business. I would recommend going there to try it.
Delicious donuts. Worth waiting for. Apple cider cake donut is a seasonal favorite.
Great food and even better staff! Their poutine is fantastic and authentic, fries, gravy, and cheese curbs. Nothing extra needed!
Such a huge surprise! Its not just donuts. And yet their donuts are not just donuts, they are the best tasting donut Ive ever had. Our breakfasts were also amazing and the coffee was very good. Strongly recommend this place.
Beats the hype, unique and tasty donuts, chicken katsu bagel sandwich was incredible!
Yall. Gourmet and with it.Delicious and well plated breakfast sandos, a decent selection without being overwhelming, and did you SEE THE DONUTS?!
Great many donut and bagel choices with an outdoor seating area
Cant say how awesome it was to find vegan donuts that tasted amazing. We got the cream cheese guava and mex hit chocolate, and some non-veg options, ube taro coconut and cinnamon sugar. The ube taro coconut didnt taste like anything unfortunately but the cream cheese guava and cinnamon sugar ones were so amazing. Wish we had one back home.
A little slice of Montreal in San Diego! Got a kick out of seeing Labatt Bleue in the fridge. The Montreal style bagels are the closest Ive experienced outside of Montreal or NYC, though a *little* soft. But the surprising part were the donuts which are fresh and have a better, doughy texture Ive not experienced anywhere else. Id say this is the best doughnut in San Diego.
Great place to run with fellow runners, and then eat donuts and drink tea!
If other states saw what we are paying for donuts... people would think were crazy. $4 for donuts. And they have vegan donuts too...California prices and mix it with hipsters and millennial, it totally fits our MO. Whatever right!? The donuts are delicious!!! I love their dragonfruit mango one... and their donut holes. Next time Ill try more!
Good spot for donuts, not my favorite, but good. Whats even better are the bagels! Breakfast bagel sandwiches are great and I particularly like their newest item, the smoked peppercorn beef brisket with caramelized onions!I miss the old, tiny shop on 30th. It had a lot more character and charm. However, with a growing local business there is always going to be change and its cool to see them get bigger!
Very inventive flavors and food options. You cant really go wrong with anything you order here.
On a first visit last month, thoroughly impressed with the donuts, less impressed by the savory food. Good (traditional) texture on the bagels, made in-house, which are boiled then baked.Great selection of donut types, flavors, and styles-- my biggest problem was resisting being greedy. The least impressive doughnut was the chocolate traditional cake style, a little too dry. The vegan donuts seemed to have similar bases. The most unusual I tried was a pistachio topped, cherry-filled number. Yum.I enjoyed the poppy-seed bagel that contained my brisket sandwich, but the filling was uncomfortably dry and non-seasoned. It was begging for sauce or condiment.Nice, friendly staff, cool location and decor. Theres plentiful street parking, a local crowd, and great pastries.
The donuts great. If you ate one plain, youd still be able to tell theres something special about them. The bagels are the same way.
I went to this location a couple years back and it was amazing but what brought me back here to review them was the fact that Brad the owner is an amazing human being.. Thanks for taking care of Ray.
Did you know Nomad got their name from being the only fresh, creative, mood lifting donuts for miles and miles in the 1800’s when all the oceans dried out and the only thing left to do was bake for survival? Just kidding. But I wouldn’t be surprised if their donut recipes were smuggled across whichever border has the best drugs (don’t answer that) and mixed discretely into the donuts we know and love today. Maybe it’s happenstance, but I never fail to be in a good mood when I visit this place. Cheers to their new location, it really speaks to the quality and attention 👏🏽 you 👏🏽 deserve 👏🏽👸🏼 the cold brew is phenom, and topped with a jelly filled donut (which was surprisingly easy to pop through that straw for your insta, just FYI ) really made my Friday!
Im a homeless person in San Diego. The people who support the homeless are the problem. There is nothing virtuous about supporting someone who refuses to do anything for themselves
BEST RESPONSE EVER.....SENDING LOVE FOM IOWA ❤
More than just donuts. The Montreal style bagels are quite incredible, but what really sets it apart is the custom cream cheese spreads. My favorite is an everything bagel with bacon chive cream cheese
Good bagel sandwich (although got very soggy in 25m), but lackluster in donut quality. Base donut is not airy of a typical yeast donut but they do a good job at infusing flavors into icing/toppings.Was honestly pretty disappointed in donuts as well as service as it was unclear if supposed to wait outside or inside for pick-up and ended up waiting outside for 10 minutes and having to check in inside, but that was not communicated in text when checking in.I like trying out different donuts in any new areas I visit, and I’d def say I appreciated sidecar quality more although they do not have the hipster vibe/local feel that I usually seek out/try to support.I will be glad to try again next time in town.
Im not even a big donut fan, but these are THE BEST! We drive 25 minutes for them. Worth it.
Pretty donuts in interesting sounding flavors, but the (regular) donuts themselves are meh (we didnt try the vegan ones). Theyre too bready, thick, and chewy to be a good yeast raised donut for me and their cruller style donut didnt have any crunch (which is kind of the point of all of those nooks and crannies) but was kind of soft and soggy instead. Plus all of the ones we had were a bit oily like they had fried them in oil that wasnt hot enough. And $10 for 3 donuts is a bit on the expensive side.On the plus side, the blueberry jam in the filled donut was really good with huge blueberries and jam juice that dripped out and the staff was friendly enough.
Delicious breakfast sandwiches that are really big. Top it off with a sweet donut treat with many varieties to choose from. Got to try the cinnamon roll!
I am a huge yeasted donut fan and these were fluffy, just the right sweetness, and perfectly puffed all around. Chocolate orange, vanilla, maple, coconut mango, and chocolate! I arrived about 45 minutes before a Sunday close time of 2:00pm so they only had these left. I really wanted to try the filled donuts but alas, I was too late! But thank goodness I arrived before 10 more people arrived after me. Also, thanks to the barista for throwing in 7th donut gratis without my knowledge 🙏🏼 😊
Rarely is money spent on donuts a complete waste, but this place misses the mark on flavor on every one of the 12 different ones we tried. The exception was the crawler, which is truly one of the best donuts Ive ever had. They are so close to greatness, but missing the mark due to thin toppings.
Donuts (key lime sage, pictured after a little squished in transit) and bagels were excellent as always, maybe even more delicious than pre-COVID. Nomad has good health protocols in place. 6 waiting spots marked, all staff wearing masks, big hand sanitizer next to POS so you can immediately detox after paying.
Best donut shop in San Diego. Vegan options galore.
Lots of vegan options and a very nice decaf coffee
Cool little place great food and really support the customers outstanding customer service.
Is this place overrated? I think so. The donuts were not that tasty. I give them credit for creativity but taste overrides creativity for me. We visited late in the day and most donuts were sold out. There is not a lot of parking choices. We circled the blocks a few times. We ended up parking in a residential street and walking. The walk to Nomad was an experience, a lot of interesting people hanging out in those streets.Nomad Donut is one and done for me. I probably wont be back.
Hands down the best donuts I have ever had. They put Voodoo and all the other specialty donut shops to shame. However do not just go with donuts in mind. Their bagel sandwiches and new breakfast offerings are first class!!! I work down the street and stop in a few times a week. No better place to get breakfast or something fun and different. If you are lucky enough to be there on a day they do their Donut Scotch Eggs get one!!! You wont be disappointed.
I live in North County and make special trips just so I can enjoy Nomads donuts and breakfast sandwiches.Dont let the Vegan names scare you, Im not Vegan and I love everything they make. Its amazing. Plus, they have non vegan options as well which are equally as delicious.- The staff is super friendly.- Service is on point.- Theyre set up to get you in a out quickly, even if youre just walking in with no clue what you want (Im that guy).- The location makes parking one of the easiest in North Park.- Did I say their food was great? I just smashed an everything bagel with egg and sausage and I might head back for another...If you havent, youre missing out. If you have, you know exactly what Im talking about. Get over there!!
Fantastic donuts!! And bagel sandwiches
Theyre pretty good donuts. Im not a donut connoisseur by any means, but it seems a bit overpriced for what it is. They have a nice system to address covid-19 social distancing measures, and line typically goes by quickly. The one star off is mostly for pricing, but I think thats just a North Park thing...
Good coffee and delicious Zaatar breakfast bagel. They made the egg from scratch and all veggies were fresh. The staff is super friendly! Overall it was a great experience and Ill be back to try other things on their menu soon. I wish they were open throughout the week too and not just leading to the weekend.
My how things change...Was taken to the OG location a few years back with the promise of donuts that would change my life. That was a well founded promise! Back in SoCal and we decided to take a bro trip to the new location.Pros- Breakfast sammiches and bagels are on point 👌very tasty, well priced.Coffee and full Espresso bar 👌👌👌Cons- The Donuts. Lackluster foundation, missing any and all of that lovely fried, fluffy donut taste. Soft mouth feel, not fluffy, just soft. Chewy, like it was a humid picnic back in North Carolina and you grabbed a donut from the bag for an afternoon snack. Same with the cruellers. Airy and soft, but flat, no character. The flavors of the frosting and toppings were awesome. However, they seemed to be designed to hide the poor foundation, which is the entire point of a donut!Nomads was an establishment that combined flavor with textures in a beautiful marriage that wowed your taste buds and with each bite, one could close their eyes and be transported momentarily to another place full of blissful donut goodness!Sad to say, I wont be back for donuts. Maybe a sammiche, but mostly likely not.Still love the creator, the originator, the innovator...the new place is rocking. Would love to see the donuts match the vibe, decor, and ambiance.Yours truly, an original fan ♥️🍩
Have never had a better bagel than at Nomad. Thanks Vito, Cassy, and everyone for some AMAZING taylor ham breakfast sammies!
Fluffy, flavorful donuts..delicious variety, great customer service and always beats my expectations....its a treat and fun thing to do with my sister and nephew when theyre in town!EDIT: Unfortunately their donuts labeled vegan friendly arent vegan...what a disappointment bc Im vegan. When I asked about it they had a rude attitude so I will no longer be a customer.
Thank you Nomad for having an equally amazing selection of vegan donuts as not vegan donuts. 🙏🙏🙏 Your flavors combos are 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼😙 so delicious and creative!
This North Park donut shop has the most creative flavors and consistent quality. There is always something unique to try. Get there early or aim for a weekday as they do tend to sell out. They are expanding to their new and larger location off of University Ave soon. The owner is very kind, happy to see someone like that succeed with his business.
The ube taro is my favorite donut when Im in the mood. Friendly & they offer reward points... so if youre eager enough, you *could* get free donuts for a year.
Delicious, but very overpriced. Bagels and donuts by the dozen arent bad, but the sandwiches are outrageous. Nothing super special about sandwiches. The donuts and bagels are very good! Its cool they have so many vegan options.
I dont understand the hype, overpriced, mediocre donuts, the pomegranate donut gave me a perfume like aftertaste.
Super cute place with even cuter donuts!! Saw lots of vegan options here, though I just got coffee.
Love love love Nomad! I would truly eat these every day if I could (but I settle for every weekend instead)
Nomad’s doughnuts are fresh, light, quality bakery items with creative and very satisfying flavor combinations!I’m so intrigued by the never-before-considered flavors - like Camembert doughnut with Cranberry filling, or Pistachio Vanilla with Strawberry Buttercream, or Blackberry Rosemary. No greasy bags/boxes from this quality eatery! Nomad’s has introduced me to eating doughnuts as an adult! (After childhood, I’ve avoided the typical greasy ones that the corner shops sells.)!! Bonus: Nomad’s now sells breakfast foods that are also fabulous!! My favorite is the Egg Tasty Bagel - and everyone I introduce to it agrees it’s the best egg bagel they’ve ever tasted! The sweet pepper jam, the astringent broccoli rabe, the salty rosemary bagel (I recommend) with the delicious pesto- its a combo you’ll crave every week!
Stopped by to try some specialty donuts for my family from out of town. I was very excited to showcase some of Californias artesian foods. Unfortunately this donut shop has degraded over the years. We got the cannoli donuts that are typically their best seller and found that they were incredibly doughy. Nothing worse than undercooked donuts. When I say undercooked I mean straight up dough.
Never been, but from what i read about the owner and the homeless man, they both deserve 5 golden stars as human beings!
Excellent bagels and donuts! Big menu with a lot of options—including a ton of vegan options! Super stoked to have found Nomad. Definitely a new breakfast fave in San Diego. Fair prices, too.
Due to advanced age and stratospheric cholesterol, Im limited to one doughnut per decade. I hear from my wife that theyre great but I come for the bagels which are now my new favorite in town. Its been at least 60 years since the North Park Jewish diaspora headed to the suburbs but Nomad might have good enough bagels to draw them back. Believe it or not but as late as the 60s Jews were limited to a few neighborhoods in San Diego. My own block had a compact prohibiting home sales to Jews. If they could see the LGBT families, Jews and Chicanos living on the street theyd be rolling in their racist graves. Oh I digress.... Nomad is great, go now... and as my grandmother would say, Essen Brekh
While I would consider Nomad a critical pillar of the San Diego donut scene, it can be a little hit or miss. As in, come early or miss out. Good flavors are usually sold out by 10am. *No WiFi.* Prices are comparable to Dough in NYC - you’ll spend about $10 on two donuts and a coffee. It’s expensive for what it is but a nice treat every once in a while.
Best donut shop in San Diego hands down.
