Todays experience was very disappointing only to noticed that almost every shelf of fresh bakery was bare and this was only at 5:00 pm. The store doesnt close until 8:30 p.m according to the store hours. Ive observed other customers like myself walked out the door due to unavailablility of products - the photos will tell all. The sign says 85 Bakery not a coffee shop. Question for management: Why is it so difficult to keep your shelves full when its 3 1/2 hours before closing?

Rarely get dessert but the wife was getting some cake and decided Id grab a slice of red velvet and join in a little indulgence. It was NOT good! Very bland, super uneven layers and just all around underwhelming

Called in 20 min after opening and crew on the line told me to call back in 5 min because most crew are on break and cannot take my order. Called 3x now and not picking up. Highly suggest not to open store if not ready…

My family were visiting San Diego and accidentally we found this spot. So glad we did! This place is so beautiful! The baked goods are wonderful. Use the puff of milk butter! Its getting addictive! Lovely spot, plenty of options and nice workers. Thanks for the great experience.

My god the breads.Every time I enter 85c bakery I can audibly hear my willpower plummetting. What even is Keto in the face of such things as egg tarts?!This place is fantastic. There are always plenty of trays and tongs by the doors, the displays are kept continuously stocked with a good variety of treat types, the location is clean, the workers are helpful and the space is roomy and bright.A few standouts for our family are the egg tart, raisin milk butter bun, hotdog bun, strawberry cream cheese, and garlic cheese breads. There are flavors available that would attract everyone from the mildest of palettes to the most adventurous.Quick tip, if you dont see your favorites out in the display cases, make sure to ask your cashier to check the back for you.

8/22/2018My friend who is Chinese brought me here and it was awesome! I ordered a passion fruit tea with bubbles and a few pastries. They have a big selection of pastries and other sweets. Everything looked so delicious and it was hard to decide what to get. We ordered a sweet cheese mini pie, pastry bun with red bean inside of it, another bun with a sweet custard.Unfortunately I can’t tell you what any of these were called but I will say they were so delicious. I wish we had one of these on the East Coast! The passion fruit tea was refreshing and I should of ordered a large!! I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting California to find one of these bakeries and have a few pastries!!

Clean space with easy hours. No real outdoor seating but going to be much more enjoyable once people can sit and eat inside for extended periods of time again

Great value and enjoyable snacks and drinks. They have food ranging from savory to sweet to salty and have a great selection of drinks including smoothies, teas, and coffee. Would recommend their Taro bread and Sea Salt Tea series or their Passion Fruit Green Tea!

I like this location better than the one in Mira Mesa because they have more items to choose from and they usually have what I want. Customer service is always good. The price is pretty reasonable. You grab a tray, tray liner, & a tong and select your items. If they tend to run out or dont have enough of what you want to buy, you can order ahead of time, but theres a minimum $ amount (nothing outrageous).

My sister’s favorite bakery... if you love Asian bakery which to me is a bit too fluffy, this bakery is amazing! You choose your own items from the shelves yourself and put them in the tray to be brought to the cashier. Coffee Monday Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sea Salt Coffee if you like Asian coffee, not my jam BUT my sis rave about this place!

Amazing variety of baked goods, some of them very interesting and unusual.We tried quite a few of them and I brought some home for the kids, which is always the best measure for such goodies. The unanimous decision of the teens was... average. The breads, rolls and croissants continued to lay on the kitchen counter top until the Trader Joes cookies were finished. Then, they hesitantly and slowly ate them.Likewise, an enthusiast in our office brings a box from 85C once in a while and it sits lonely in the kitchen unlike bagels and doughnuts.Bottom line is that its an interesting place to try but it wont be among my favorites.

11/27/17: 4.5 out 5 - Its 85C Bakery Cafe! Ive been to quite a few locations along the West Coast. Pretty much its all the same look, but the standard is the same, which is a great thing. Its all good.When in the area or youve never been, then go and try it once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

4.5 definitely or 5 stars. Best fresh assortment of pastries, bread, cakes, desserts galore, even savory pastries coffee, espresso, salted coffee and boba drinks. Must try, especially for something sweet, like a dessert or special occasion. Love that its self serve mostly, and they have a really nice lounge and outside patio that is very well maintained. Edited recently that Ive been here numerous times and have never been disappointed. Love this place!

One of my favorite places to hit up for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Baked goods solve all problems and the staff are generally kind.The selection here can be a bit hit or miss depending on the day and or time. Sometimes the baked goods can be a bit too doughy in the middle. Sometimes thats a good thing, but, most of the time its not.Only once have I had something truly terrible here - it was an impossible or beyond meat pastry that was horrifyingly bad.

Quality bakery for Taiwanese style baked goods. It is a self serve where you put what you want on a tray and take it up to the counter where they bag and box your items. They also have a display case full of cakes and pies in which you can get by the slice or whole cakes. The coffee and teas are good and prepared quickly.If you are getting pastries the process can take extra time as they bag each pastry individually. So if your in a hurry plan for extra time.High quality and seems to be very consistent. Definitely a place to get a different bakery experience.

Haylee was very helpful. We were picking out a few desserts and she heard us discussing if the ones we plucked out had nuts. She went the extra step to double check a few items before we made our final decision. Her recommendation of the blueberry cheesecake was bomb!

Arrived at 7:58pm, 2 minutes prior to closing, door was closed and locked in my face as I reached to open the door for my child to walk in. Two other people allowed in seconds before me. I guess business is good enough here to close early and literally lock the door in customers face. As much as I enjoy the treats here, I won’t be returning.

I really enjoy their bread to be sweet but not overly sweet [like the American sweet that can be too much]. Favorite is the mango, strawberry and Mocha bread yum!

Well maintaned with bigger seating space and even more varieties of pastries and breads than other location i visited..service is friendly but the wait time is a lot..there is always a big que to get billed..may be coz i went on a weekend..i have tried manybstuffs from mira mesa but from here i habe tried deluxe chocolate mousse cake and honey cake..both were delicious..light and fluffy ..the icing was amazing too..i have to try the other savoury breads from here soon as they offer more in vegetarian ..recently tried blackforest too :)

Ordered from the kiosk and proceeded to wait for 30+ minutes only to find out no one was ever going to fill my order unless I told them I had ordered. Just give them your money, dont expect anything in return except a waste of time.

Its delicious. I once got a taro bun that was a little old and crusty and it made me super sad. When I showed the staff, they swapped my bun for a fresh one immediately. Thanks!

This is one of the higher priced bakery place. You can download the app and accumulate points to get some free items. My favorite is the milk pudding bun. The milk pudding is similar to the egg custard. The cost of one milk pudding bun is $1.80.

Shelves constantly empty. Last 4-5 times Ive come it looks like the photo... Very disappointing.

I went to this place a week ago and not happy with it...They make my drinks wrong 2 times and messed up with other order, and the workers was rude and didnt even get a smile... I waited outside to pick up my order from the outside door and they still asked me to have masked on...remember I didnt stand inside the door...Just let everyone know that I never make any complain if things not worst...and Im not a complain person...

Staff are super friendly and the baked goods/drinks are top notch. Everything is individually wrapped because of covid but stays fresh and moist.

Worst attitude and service at an 85 we have ever had! We ordered coffee, drinks and purchased a lot of pastries. Spent a lot of money. When they brought out our drinks, they brought out an iced coffee. I had ordered a hot coffee. I told the person and he rolled his eyes and threw the iced on the counter. No words. Brought me a hot coffee and I said what about the difference in price, I was charged more for an ice, he rolled his eyes again and walked away. Terrible customer service.

Nice place looked like they had a decent assortment of various baked fine confections. I really liked that they have their prepackaged to go items displayed openly around the room so that you can grab what you like and then pay. This was my first time there so if I have more opportunities to return I will update my review. Seems to be a popular place so I imagine midday weekdays are the best to go.

85c is nice bakery to get your fix of delicious pastries, breads and cakes. They have a nice sitting area to enjoy your desserts with choice of caffeinated/cold drinks. The tiramisu and red velvet cake was my favourite! Highly recommend, they have a lot of locations in California.

You can get a delicious coffee, milk tea with/without a bobba, breads, cakes, pastries so on with reasonable price. Every Monday is buy one get one free coffee day.

I visit pretty often, my favorite is the buttered croissant. The queue for bread is long and they took away their sea salt coffee monday promotion. Its a nice atmosphere and a good quick stop if u want some tea.

Just tried there milk bread. It was better than average. The bread was soft to the touch, and as you bite into it. It just dissolves in your mouth.

The restroom was not clean at all. Hope their kitchen is clean at least.

Very nice cafe if you want to hangout with your friends. The only issue is that sometimes the line for the register is long. The choice variation isn’t much. So if your a vegetarian this isn’t the place for you. Most of the stuff includes meat except for the desserts.

Friendly service, clean and their strawberry banana smoothie is amazing! As well as their ice caramel latte! We tried a bunch of their breads, I like the chocolate croissant and the blueberry cream cheese the most.

I went to the store this morning，when I just came into the store，the male chashier with messy hair said to me loudly Wait outside！ with rudeness and disrespect. And there was no sign of customer capacity outside the store. And when I was waiting my order，he was just working on his slow pace dowdily while many customers were waiting in line. FOOD looks good but it makes you wonder how clean the back is? Front of the store is disgusting, seating area is nasty. No more for me. Id like to eat in places that at least look clean. Stay away if you care about cleanliness.

This place is a whole experience since the moment you walk in and smell the fresh bread! Youll hear the baker bringing new fresh bread every minute, always saying Fresh Bread out loud! Love the self service format and the bread is magnificent over 80 different kinds!! I love the taro bread and the spinach rolls and the bubble tea too ! Theres also plenty of French pastries. Service is very friendly and the place Always very clean! Thank you !!❤️

Great coffees and desserts, it can get crazy busy though.

Its a good place to satisfy your pastry craving. They make European/Asian bakery which is less sweetening than the usual American sugar spiked dessert. In the winter, I usually order the taro latte which is rich and creamy and warm you up :-) There are some good restaurants in the same shopping center that you can visit as well before coming over here for dessert.

Went particularly for fresh king grapefruit boboa tea, but out of grapefruits! So disappointing! Delicious in the past.

Very nice bakery with lots of selections Of Gourmet treats! Unfortunately, there was an item (egg tart) posting $1.80 for two tart (wrap together). Could not resist, great buy! I grabbed two packs of two. Worker saw the Discrepancy with the price tag and would not honor the price as marked. I Purchased a box of treats without the egg tarts.

Super yummy baked goods. This is an Asian bakery so they have some unique pastry dishes. From savory to sweet they will have something for you. Grab a try, put some paper on it and start loading up with you tongs.I never seem to be able to find the napkins and the drinks seem a bit pricey but so are other coffee joints.Spacious eating area.

Not really my kind of place BUT my wife and son love the pastries and I do have to admit that the Vietnamese coffee the barista made was outstanding. I would go back just for the coffee. They are open until 11:00 PM on the weekends and 9:00 PM through the week. Pretty good dessert for the after dinner crowd.

Great place. I need to pick up a birthday 🍰. They have a great selection at a good price. The cake was pure awesomeness. I will be going back. The staff was really great and fast to help and answer any questions. This was my second time there and each time Ive been there have been lots of good looking ladies here. So single guys come check it out.

Love it this place have the most delicious cakes and that are not very sweet, which makes a perfect taste. We ordered the tiramisu cake for my brother in lawś birthday and the taste was phenomenal. If you are looking for a bakery that makes tasty flavors, but do not go crazy with the sugar this is your place to go.

Health alert!Just got a hot rose milk tea to go from here for the second time. It tasted differently from all 85 rose milk teas I had before. After drinking half the cup, I realized that its not lack of sugar or anything like that. The milk in the tea tasted a bit sour. My stomache is already feeling queasy and I hope that it goes well. Going to throw out the rest of the cup, and stop coming back to this store.

I love the pastries here! There is something different every time I visit. Everything is fresh. I tried the custard mini shells and two different moon cakes today. The custard mini shells were light fluffy cakes that were like mini tacos with an equally light custard filling. They were packed 2 per box.They were not too sweet and very tasty. The moon cakes were really good. One had walnuts and the other one had almonds.

I bought 6 different pastries from here and they were all dry and flavorless. Their fruit tart had a ton of overbaked marzipan inside of it and the fruit was the only good thing on it. Same for the mango bun and the other pastries I tried. Gave it a chance maybe their other stuff is good, but not going back.

Taiwanese Bakery with savory and sweet choices. And spicy means spicy! And sweet is not candy sweet. A lot of drink choices. Ask them not to bag items if youre eating there. Kid friendly. Outdoor seating. Youll end up going many times to try all the offerings so enjoy the adventure and take your time. No table service.

Got the Taro boba and always try it out at different boba spots. It was the best!
