I’ve never been a fan of super sweet coffees. This place lets you taste the coffee and their spices/additions to their coffee. I got to try their seasonal pumpkin pie latte. It’s warming, comforting, and delicious! You can’t go wrong with any choice you make. Highly recommend going! I’ll definitely be coming back.Also, the staff and owners are so sweet. You can tell their care about their craft and their customers.

I had an iced Americano and it was just what I needed. If you like coffee, this place has good coffee. Who needs Starbucks when there are places like this around?

Walking into Kakawa coffee has a very homey feeling with very friendly staff and a huge variety of coffee and pastry options. Not to mention, they also have several clothing merchandise. Worth visiting if your in Point Loma area.

I got there kakawa latte iced, and wow it was amazing that I came back the next morning for it again! My friend got a cold brew and it was one of the smoothest cold brew I have ever had!! Highly, highly recommend.Great coffee and staff!

Yes! First time to Kakawa Coffee, we were picking up a cake from next door and stopped in. They really care about their coffee and our drinks were delicious. We ended up buying a bag of their espresso roast which given how quality it is, is definitely worth the price but should probably come with a warning.. its the Kief of Espresso, consume wisely. :)

Fabulous unique lattes served up by two friendly ladies! My favorite is the Kakawa Latte. They often also have seasonal blends that are always great as well. Their coffee is smooth and not too sweet. I also buy their coffee beans to brew at home... Excellent! The dark roast is my favorite but their others are also great.Great neighborhood coffee shop with a few little tables outside and inside. Love this place!

Excellent espresso here. Peruvian based, and delicious. They are women owned, and have a very knowledgeable staff about the coffee beans and how they are processed without chemicals. Vegan options***They do sell pastries from a local San Diego based vegan bakery, spilthouse bakery.

This place is so good! I got the Arabian mocha and it was amazing. They have milk substitutes too! The drinks are delicious and not too sweet! You can tell that the owner is really passionate about the subtle tastes of the different drinks she makes. She also seems really nice and knowledgeable. She’s there every day and always makes the experience as good as the coffee.

Kakawa has become our go-to coffee shop on the peninsula of late. The Kakawa Latte and Dulce De Leche latte are both top-notch, and the cute little shop has such a wonderful vibe. Terrific way to brighten up your morning.

Fantastic hole in a wall Cafe. Isnt crazy loud and the people here are pretty friendly. I tried their Mexican coffee and a cookie dough pastry. Was really good. They also gave suggestions for popular items people usually get here but I was feeling like having cookies for breakfast.

Staff was really nice, but coffee was not good. It was a fresh batch, but somehow luke warm. Way too strong, and not a flavorful roast.

Great place! I got a regular Latte and the Avocado toast; it all tasted perfect! They load up on the avocado and the seasoning/drizzle they put on top tastes awesome! The coffee blend they used was tasty and offered a perfect amount of bitterness to my Latte. They are very kind and it sort of felt like I’ve been there before due to how welcoming they were! Will be back soon!

First I just want to say it’s definitely important to support local especially during this pandemic! But this place is amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their holiday blend coffee is great bursting with flavor, even if you don’t drink coffee black like me you’ll want to drink this one black to truly enjoy all the flavors within this blend. It was so good that I had to also buy some beans just in case I don’t have time to stop by the shop. Although I don’t have a grinder at home they were nice enough to grind up the beans for me. It was my first time going there and I will definitely be going back!

Hands down best coffee you will find locally. This coffee shop has a variety of coffee beverages that will have you perked up in no time. Delicious iced mochas, my personal favorite, cold brew coffee on tap, Kombucha on tap, fresh vegan pastries, an avocado toast to die for. The atmosphere is sweet and relaxing. They also have coffee boxes to go, as well as beans for take home, grind there or take home the whole bean. Passionate coffee peeps here. I have purchased beans and sent them all over to family and had such wonderful feedback that the coffee flavor is unlike any theyve had. Very smooth and offers the perfect flavor to any of your favorite coffee beverage. Excellent, excellent service and product.

The place smells so rich in coffee aromas! I walked in looking for the store next door. When I was finished next door, I had to walk back in and ask more about their coffee and beans. The helpful and experienced worker gave such precise information on all the beans. She helped me pick out Papua New Guinea Medium roast beans. I got home and made my first batch. It is exactly what I wanted- an incredible smooth medium taste! Ill be buying some more beans for holiday gifts!

I cannot say enough about this place. My buddy Shane and I stopped in here today while on a break. The hospitality was amazing, the coffee was great and the ladies had a great attitude/ customer service. Even with all the craziness of this pandemic going on. The ladies (sisters I believe) had a positive attitude. My buddy and I had only planned to stop in for about 10 to 15 minutes and ended being there about an hour chatting away. The customers who came in definitely were regulars which is nice to see. I enjoy supporting small business and will definitely come back.

I had Arabian mocha this morning, I need to tell you this! It was amazing smooth not sweet not strong just perfect taste! I’ve had other drinks, I can’t remember the names but amazing taste. loved the name Kakawa comes from cacao, Reminds me of my haritage and familia story’s about how Olmec and mayas invented Chocolate. Great pleace. Planning to go back staff is super friendly too.

Kakawa is hands down one of the best coffee shops in San Diego. The staff/owners are super friendly and knowledgeable about their product. I LOVE the pumpkin cold brew and also took home some Papua New Guinea beans that were recommended for espresso. The few pastries Ive tried are very good!

Probably the best cold brew I’ve ever had: it’s smooth, rich, and almost chocolate-y. Plus their current cold brew is pumpkin spice infused and has a wonderful flavor without being overpowering. I’d go out of my way to stop here!

I’ve had nitro cold brew at a lot of places across the country and honestly have had a hard time finding amazing coffee here in San Diego until NOW! The coffee at Kakawa is expertly brewed and their nitro balance is perfect. It’s rich and creamy! Plus the staff is friendly and helpful! Definitely don’t pass up the chance to visit them!!!

I adore the friendly and accessible neighborhood feel of this quaint little place. The coffee is so distinctive and tasty! I had an iced latte that was the best and most flavorful iced latte I had had in a long time. The overall atmosphere of the place is cozy, comfy, and peaceful. The two ladies who own it and work there are so awesomely gracious and they definitely know all about coffee! I will totally and gladly come back here again and again. Two thumbs up!!!

LOOVE THIS PLACE! Stumbled upon it only a week or two ago and their coffee is amazing! They have the most delicious vegan pastries and the place is so nice in general. A total gem!

The coffee here is delicious. I usually get an americano with an extra shot. It has so much flavor. Their latte is also very good. I’ve found the service very friendly. I usually get my coffee here to go, however, I went to sit and do work recently and found out they don’t have a restroom for customers. I really dislike when coffee shops don’t provide a restroom for customers. It’s not taking care of your customers that want to sit and drink multiple cups of coffee while working. Other than this, I recommend this cute coffee shop.

Nice little coffee shop with pastries and misc food selections. Their regular espresso drinks are very good, but the star attraction is their kakawa coffees. Its worth explaining exactly what a kakawa coffee is. Kakawa is the Olmec and Mayan word for chocolate, but these coffees are nothing like your typical mocha. They include the flavor of chocolate and other spices, without being sweet like a mocha. It is worth going out of your way to try one. But if a mocha is your thing, they have that too.

Ive tried their special expresso drink with the coconut and was the best ever. Im not a big fan of sweet drinks normally but this was a bomb. Thank you for the opportunity to get a great coffee every time!

So all I want is an iced drink and the lady gives me a ton of ice and I go can I get less ice and the lady explains to me just about 10000000 times why I can’t have less ice (even though any other place would of said yes) and I’m like nodding my head like I understand and the cashier says “she gets it” and then the lady goes “she doesn’t understand” but I understood since the beginning. So after she’s explained it to me very rudely I finally sat down and then when it was ready she explains AGAIN like I got it the first time. She made me feel really stupid and in the end the drink had a weird aftertaste
