Some say its the vibe, others says itβs quality coffee - I says itβs bothππΌ this place has a great concept location with the friendliest staff. Coffee is amazing!! They are creating a new normal to have a recycling program which much needed in the coffee world. Great example of how we all take part in change.
James Coffee Co. never disappoints whether online or in store. The coffee is amazing hot or cold but I love hot coffee and ordered a Vanilla Latte. So tasty and natural tasting. My fiancΓ© ordered a iced Honey and Cinnamon Latte both very tasty. Beware, the store no longer does cardboard to go cups but is now doing to go jars for 1.25 extra which can be reused at a later date. We thought that was cool and also more sustainable.
I would 100% recommend this coffee shop. I got an ice chai with an espresso shot. Everything was delicious and I like that they were recycling. Using the jars the participating in the program is an excellent incentive for people to make a change. Definitely, will be back also the stuff was very friendly.
Beautiful coffee shop located at the end of a walkway taking you past a few specialty stores. High quality coffees made by friendly staff. They recently chose to be 100% environment friendly by eliminating paper and plastic cups - only glass now. Get a coffee and browse the nearby stores or even visit the barber shop that sits right next to it!
This morning, we grabbed breakfast at this coffee establishment. Their cuisine was delicious and nutritious! The cappuccino, the greatest coffee in the shop, was even better! Their employees were really friendly and inviting. For them, we made a lovely carrot and walnut cupcake! Coffee enthusiasts, such as myself, should pay a visit! :)
Its one of the go to spots for all coffee lovers. They have pretty good coffee and we love their almond croissants the best we have had in San Diego. Staff is very friendly. Note they now only serve in a takeaway glass but charge a $1.25 deposit for it. It is reusable or returnable. Must visit coffee spot in San Diego.
My partner and I come here every time weβre in town! The location is beautiful, the coffee delicious, and we love that theyβve switched to a glass jar system! I prefer it to plastic cups by a LOT. Check out the little gift shops and the (also excellent) barber shop while youβre here.
This place was amazing. My brother and I both had cappuccinos that were both delicious and beautiful. We also tried out one of the chocolate almond croissants and one of the traditional croissants. They were both warmed up for us and delightful. The space is great with the different storefronts and several different types of seating available. Since we had never been there before we asked some questions about the options and the staff was very polite and knowledgeable. One of my favorite things to do is watch someone who is good at their craft, and I was not disappointed at James Coffee. You can even sit at the bar behind the counter and watch them all in action. The stores where not open the first time we went so we actually came back later in the day to go through the stores. I believe that I spoke with the owner in the James At Home Shop and he was very nice and helpful. You can really tell from the space and the quality of product that they produce that this is not just a job but a passion. I highly suggest stopping in and giving it a try if you are in the area.
Love this place. Amazing, food, drinks and vibe. And you may just see or get served by the lead guitarist from your favourite band who owns it.
What a lovely place to go for coffee. All of the little shops within the larger shop are incredibly charming. The cold brew was strong and gave me a good boost of energy for a long drive home. 10/10 and then some, especially because they are clearly trying to minimize their carbon fooprint with mason jars and no straws.
Amazing coffee shop in little Italy. Environmentally conscious. All cups are reusable! Try a dirty chai latte here!
You are welcome to eat breakfast with me all day, as well as lunch. The portion sizes are adequate, and the meal is delicious. I found this restaurant online and went to see for myself after reading all of the positive reviews.
Coming from AZ I have to say that the coffee game in San Diego is on a completely different level. If you enjoy good coffee you can come here. But more importantly Iβd come back because of the bright and helpful service. Theyβre a also a very cool merch area in the back thatβs worth checking out.
Such good coffee! I love their sustainable practices as well.
Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in San Diego. The ambiance, decoration and location is great. My favorite is the Honey Cinnamon Latte. I also love their glass return program which makes us all more earth friendly. Will definitely recommend this coffee shop!
Ok, coolest 2 go cup Iβve ever received. $8.65 for my dirty chai is bit much, even for me. But that coffee flavor was on point. Not to sweet, balanced. A bit more of the chai and ul be on the money.Iβl be back.
Love that the to-go drinks are served in glass jars. Had a coffee soda which was super refreshing and delicious.
Great coffee, great chai tea. Will definitely be back to return the jars and get more coffee. Finally a decent coffee spot in San Diego!
I love love the sustainable glass cups, I wish more places would jump on the band wagon and do the the same thing. Fresh way to save the environment. I get the ice vanilla latte with oat milk and the coffee always tastes fresh.
Delicious coffee! Definitely worth a visit.
Id definitely return, and Id suggest it to anybody. Wonderful coffee! A small, private setting.
A friendly coffee shop is just a block away. At school, the atmosphere is friendlier and more student-centered. Since it provides more elegant breakfast, lunch, and dinner dining options, Ill refer to it as the nearby Starbucks. The interior is cramped but well-designed, with a small band of patio chairs. Ill definitely come back!
Cool setting with little shops inside. I ordered a vanilla latte and my friends ordered other cold lattes (honey cinnamon and condensed milk). They were all not too sweet which is my preference. But the drink itself was mostly milk. Did not taste a whole lot of espresso. Overall a chill setting. The planes do go right overhead and its pretty loud. Does not bother me but may bother someone who is easily startled.Update: I am taking away one star for bubble guts. If you dont do dairy stay away!
The condensed milk latte is π if you like sweet. Coffee is dark and bold just like their brand. Baristas and vibe are killing and chilling π
Beautiful space, great coffee, and awesome eco-friendly experience.
Environment friendly. No paper cups or straws provided.Youll have to buy a jar with the coffee, but you can return the jar and receive money back. The latte here is also great. Well balanced proportion of espresso and regular milk.
Great coffee but feel like we were told to sit in the back of the class. Table spacing was strange- covid?
Ill return for a bite to eat. They also provide fantastic workshops and sell their beans for take-home use.
Love this place. Weβre staying at the KOA south of here and the 15 minute drive up was well with it. Sadly we had to go back a second time because we obviously had to recycle our glass jars π shucks! I hope we donβt have to go yet again for a 3rd time!!Overall this location is cute and the property is nestled inside an amazing collection of James related stores - hair cut, optometry, crystals, greeting cards and playing cards. I was stoked to see they carry Peter McKinnon coffee and hats, so cool.10/10 will come back againβ¦ tomorrow π
My girlfriend and I visited recently on a rainy day, and it was a perfect place to chill. It has a really cool vibe with different small shops within the same building. The latte I ordered was good and my girlfriend liked her cold brew. I think the coolest part of it was the small shop that offered freshly roasted coffee and other cool coffee making accessories. It seemed like they also offer classes on coffee and if I lived closer, I would definitely attend. If you are in the area, this place is worth stopping by!
This store is my favourite place to hang out and do my paperwork. I like the coziness and ambience of this place. It was so relaxing, calm, and not too crowded. The venue I love the most! Recommended greatly!
I am not a coffee connoisseur, but I can taste the difference between the coffee here and that served in the popular chain restaurants. I now understand why afficianados of great coffee are willing to go out of their way for a cup of this very special java.
Quiet place to get some very good coffee - uses glass bottle exchange to reduce waste. Very knowledgeable staff with an excellent home brewing store too.
To my dad, this coffee shop was recommended. Its a great place to drink the best coffee in the region, which complements their delicious meals well! Its atmosphere is homely, and there are a selection of dishes and drinks on the menu. It is well air-conditioned, and usually the music played on the speakers was beautiful. A must-visit coffee shop, indeed!
Good service but not great π coffee
I am one of those people who love coffee. When I saw your shop on the website, I directly visit your place. I was so impressed, the ambiance was so peaceful and entertaining. My order was served on time and was very presentable. You didnt fail to exceed my expectations, guys! Very strongly recommended! Perfect place to relax!
Great house blend! Good service with good recommendations of other local businesses
Coffee is fine. Time to open restrooms and provide seating if you are selling coffee to customers. Many others are. Also the glass jar with foam holder seems virtuous but those foam thingies are NOT environmentally friendly and forcing customers to return for the $1.50 deposit is not practical in a take out and tourist environment and Iβm guessing jars end up in trash or rolling around the back of rental cars. Trying too hard.
Really top tier coffee, in a very cool mini-marketplace setting. Love love love their glass cup deposit system.
My favorite place to hang out and do my paperwork is this store. I like this places coziness and ambience. It was so comfortable, calm, and not too crowded. The location that I love the most! Greatly recommended!
James has great coffee and the baristas make an excellent latte. The ambiance is laid back and the space offers patrons a lot more than just coffee including a barber, a salon, game tables, pastries and macaroons. Overall a great choice whether youre looking for a cup of coffee to go or a place to hang out. Pet friendly too.
Not worth it. I got the Mexican mocha, it wasnβt super good. $5.50 PLUS $1.25 charge for their glass jars? Like I want to come back to return it? Nah. Cool location though
Great coffee. Delicious pastries. The atmosphere was unexpected. They have little shops inside and even a barber shop!
Theyre still doing carryout right now. Great coffee & even better food. Best coffee shop in the hood. Bonus points for having a cool name.
Expert java, pastries, and friendly staff. Inside the James Coffee Co. building (the one with the rusty owl above the entry). Also visit James At Home (coffee appliances), Often Wander (gifts), SPECS Optometry (ask for Michelle for eye appointments--the BEST!), The Urban Shave, III [3] theSalon, Art Of Play (a shop of *wonder*), Home Ec, and Card Shop SD. An eclectic grouping of synergistic shops that is sure to get you to hang out longer than you expected. A wonderful San Diego destination for tasty beverages, schnecks, beauty, browsing and shopping. Perfect for travelers looking to get a small taste of San Diego life.
Great quality coffee, but I wish there will be more selection on coffee drinks.
I didnt have coffee. My rating is based on taste and customer service. The pastry was dry . i think it came from another entity. So not like fresh i guess. The girl seemed kinda new to the workforce, but very strong service skills.
Great coffeeπsustainable coffee and glass jars!
Got there near six, it wasnt packed at all. The service was sociable and attentive. This place has a cool design. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.
Great coffee Great city missed being there ππΌπ’
I came here on my visit to San Diego because I heard good things about this cafe. The coffee here is excellently brewed. I had the single origin cold brew (Honduras) and the coffee just had so much flavor. They do not mask the flavor of the beans by over-roasting it so the green taste comes through. They clearly know what they are doing!
Love the coffee, the atmosphere, great place
Im a huge coffee lover but also a picky one. James Coffee Co. is a place were you donβt just buy coffee, its the one you would like to sit in and enjoy your drink. The coffee shop is pretty spacious with minimalistic style. Besides coffee there are some small merchants stores and a barbershop that nicely blend in to the whole urban atmosphere. Ohh and of course the coffee...It is delicious the cappuccinos are smooth and punchy the espressoβs are solidly strong and I donβt think you will be disappointed in other drinks either.
Great coffee, love their sustainability push with the Mason jars! Though I do wish they were easier to drink coffee out of.
My wife and I come here every time we come to this coffee shop. They have good coffee and cake. The staff here are all very friendly and dog friendly, which is always a bonus. We were here every day for five days straight on our holiday! I will surely come back after this pandemic ends and recommend the place to my friends.
I do love this well-known coffee shops coffee. For those who have meetings, and hangouts with coffee lover mates, the atmosphere of the place was great. It is important to recommend this shop to everyone.
Wow! The Mexican mocha is a life changer.
I purchased the 3 months subscription as a gift, and these guys were honestly the most accomodating people ever! You go for the coffee, and become a fan of the service (and lets be real, the coffee is pretty dope). Right from the packaging to the coffee flavours. Speaking of which, the flavours are very rich and versatile. You guys should definitely give it a go! 10/10 would recommend!
Coffee was average and now they force you to buy those glass jars. As a coffee shop they should have the option for paper cups. I live out of San Diego and returning those jars is not an option. Not impressed!!!!!!
The coffee products are all first rate, the food is cafe style fare and mostly well done. The music being played makes you feel relaxed and comfortable.
Theyve got some rad baristas who know their stuff. Shop in the back is really neat too!
Staff is always timely even when they have a full house. The service here is better than most. Prices are appropriate. Ambience reminds me of San Diegos scene.
We order the night owl on a regular basis and grind and brew at home. Wanted to check out the store front in Little Italy. Today it took 43 min. From the time we ordered until we got our coffee. My daughters Mexican mocha had so much cinnamon that it was not even drinkable. Lame. We wonβt be back. Cool spot but the wait and service sucked.
The fact that they force you to buy a jar with your coffee is ridiculous. The coffee isnt great either.
