We went for lunch. It can get crowded. I had a club sandwich that was turned into a wrap for an extra dollar. $16 is a bit expensive for me for lunch, but the food was delicious. they have a menu that includes breakfast, a ton of lunch sandwiches, lunch burgers that looked amazing, and some diner dishes like chicken pot pie. Service was attentive and we were able to park in the main lot. There is more parking to the side. Awesome restaurant, Guy Fieri thinks so too, hes been twice 😁
I went there on Wednesday with my husband and his daughter. It was my first time and i loved it. Staff were extremely nice and the food was outstanding. I do recommend eating here if you have not yet. The picture down below is what i had for breakfast. I got the Chicken Fried Steak And Eggs with white toast. It was amazing.
STOP READING THIS... STOP.. DO NOT CONTINUE. Get in your car, and start driving NOW.. READ THIS ON THE WAY .. the more you read the longer you are missing out on this AMAZING DINER!!OMG my girlfriend and I heard about this place from a local San Diegan and decided to visit.. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!! The decor and environment was so cool! And the foooooooooooddd omg if i could eat there every day I would 10/10. We got the recommended menu items: Monte Cristo & Gaucho. MY TASTE BUDS ARE STILL RECOVERING!! ..WHY ARE YOU STILL READING!?!?!
Great little place! The food is amazing, the portions are large and the atmosphere is really relaxed. I got the Ruben and I was not disappointed! It was huge with lots of good stuff. The sandwich ran about $12 but it was enough to split if need be. HOWEVER, order water if you dont want to pay $3.50 for 16 oz of refreshment.
Step back in time at this chrome-wrapped, blue neoned delightful diner!! It was originally built on the lot of the former Stu Seagull Productions, which during 1981-2010 was San Diego countys largest working Movie and TV Studio. They offer very tasty comfort food and have the cool tin tile ceilings. Guy Fieri from from the TV Show Diners, Drive-Ins and Diveshas been here twice. His last visit in March of this year hasnt even aired yet. The food is surprisingly great. I enjoyed The Gaucho, a filet mignon tip sandwich which is layered with flavors and served w/the best Sweet Potato Fries Ive ever had and was one of the dishes Guy Fieri ordered. We inquired about the delicious sauce served w/the Sweet Potato Fries and was told its made in-house. My hubby ordered the Chicken-fried Chicken served w/mashed potatoes and broccoli which he said was excellent. The ambiance is warm, yet fun, and their staff is wonderful. Our waitress, Maria, was so very nice and accomadating. They also have a very nice patio in back. They are open from 6:00am to 10:00pm to serve your breakfast, lunch and dinner needs... Bon appetit! 👍👍👍👍👍
This was our first trip! We came in late buy the place is open 24 hrs. They had breakfast as well as their dinner menu. We choose dinner. The appetizer was ALOT! My lil one loved the wings and potato wedges. He also ordered the sliders off the kids menu. For dessert we chose the lava cake. Delicious! Our server was AWESOME! We never needed anything. He was friendly and a great person to help us with questions. We will definitely come back since my lil one said it was the best place we have gone too besides the buffet.
Please reopen soon. I would eat here everyday for lunch for a week.
Just had breakfast here and had rated it as 5 in the past but today it was just plain terrible. The chilli tasted like it had been flavored with some floor cleaner or it had been frozen in an old plastic container for months and re-heated. When I pointed this out to the waitress I was told that perhaps you dont like the herbs and spices. It will be the last time I will eat here
Everyone at our table was glad to be there. There was quick and friendly service. The bill was reasonable I would say. Food and atmosphere reminds me of Atlanta.
Certainly a top place in the area. The staff was friendly and sociable. It has a nice atmosphere. Reminds me of a place in New York I loved to visit.
I was on the way to pick up my husband from the hospital and I saw this crazy building on the side of the road. From the exterior, it reminded me of something that would be in New York City and I had to go in. The wood floor, tables, and chairs were all 40s era. The decor was very simple but cool, lights were from studio sets and the condiment holders looked like film reels. The menu had a great variety and the servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Service was fast and the food was delicious. The servings were enormous, so I would recommend sharing. None of us were able to finish more than half. Oh, and if you like fried pickles, I would recommend them as a starter. As far as cost goes, My first thought was wow, this place is pricey for a diner, however, its more that I just havent adjusted to the constant inflation we have going on here. It was average an average price for excellent food and service. We were all glad we stopped.
The food was so savory. Feels similar to a cafe in Chicago I liked.
Visited on fri i believe. really nothing but enjoyable experiences here, ill be back. this place has an awesome feel to it.
Everyone at our table was quite pleased. I look forward to going back again. The bill wont shock you. They have a lot of good reviews for a reason.
Super delicious. the service here is above par. the bill was good for what you get. kinda of like a restaurant in los angeles i loved to visit.
Cant wait for Studio Diner to reopen! Please reopen soon!
Really nothing but good experiences here. It has a cool feel to it. They have so many great reviews for a reason.
Good food and good service! This diner can handle large groups quite well on the back patio. My running group often meets here without advance reservations and they can always accommodate. The food is good and the service has always been reliably warm and responsive. I would highly recommend.
I love this place always quality food & service. bring your appetite because portions are generous.
Studio Diner delivers really good comfort food at reasonable prices. We tried the Fried Pickles (excellent!), the Monte Cristo (unlike any weve ever seen), and the Reuben. All were really good. Their dishes are above what is expected, and there is some imagination and good execution. Our server was very engaged and helpful. We look forward to going back!
The service here is great. Prices are decent.
They need to bring this place back miss the food !!
I love it here. Nothing but enjoyable experiences here. The bill was reasonable.
Good hearty food with good service. Been here a lot over the last 15 years and always had a good meal. Great spot for late night food and they always serve breakfast. Meals are hearty she rate very good. Parking in The main lot is laughable at best, use the lot next to it for easy parking.
I have been here at night a few times years ago. I didnt realize in the daytime theres a patio with a great view. I was really surprised. We had good attentive service and the food was good. Love the decorations of course.
One of the best spots of its kind in the area. the service was very helpful and observant.
The food is amazing and not too pricey. I love the vibes and have never had problems with any staff love it
Not very impressed. Moderately priced. Disappointed with the food. Pulled pork sandwich needed more meat. Cole slow was soggy. My friend said mac n cheese she had was mushy and bland. Her ham sandwich was ok. Service was great tho! The decor was like being in a movie set on a train. Yet still felt like a small time diner. Parking was ok, but if they are busy parking would be a problem.
Definitely worth a return visit. Prices that wont shock you.
Have been here many times as there are often car shows close by and its a good spot for breakfast on the weekend. They have a great Flat Iron Steak & eggs on the breakfast menu thats really good.Their tuna melts are tasty and big.Back patio has nice views but can get really noisy as they usually have large groups there.Parking can be easily found next door in the parking structure.
Super excellent service! super excellent food everything just tastes so good! Cant wait to go again next time! Thank you Studio Diner! Our server Leila really gave us a truelly enjoyable time! Were definitely going back!
Cool diner near the job. Clean. Neat place. Salmon is yummy. Salads were big and really good (except the Caesar, it was small). Staff were accommodating, they served us quickly as we were on lunch break.
Cool location to meet with coworkers. I will be back with my relatives.
Very good food. I ordered the lox, bagel, with capers etc. Enjoyed it. The server, Luis, was very friendly and on top of everything without being intrusive.the environment is fun. If you havent been you should try it.
Superbly awesome as always! Luv this place, .the food, .the service, .the atmosphere! One of my favorite places! Had chicken tortilla soup and mac n cheese which is the bomb! Ended it with a hot fudge brownie topped with vanilla ice cream! Luv luv this place!
My husband and I LOVE coming here and enjoying an Improv omelette at the counter. Counter is first come first served, which is awesome considering the weekend mornings are VERY busy. We love see Ashley too, she always takes great care of us. Honestly we have 99% of the time had excellent service and the food is always amazing. They do serve wine and some beer I believe. They also have awesome milkshakes. You can sit outside, shaded and with heaters, or inside. Great place with tons of delicious options. Parking is very limited, but you can park on the street or in the parking lot just south of the diner. Enjoy!
Excellent food! Generous portions. Our waiter was very attentive and even though it was lunch hour, we received our food quickly. I highly recommend Studio Diner.
Great spot for an appetite of any size. Service treated us so kindly.
This is my Dad’s favorite breakfast place. He’s been a regular here for years. I’ve moved out of the area. Yet when I visit my parents, without a doubt, I always know I’ll be coming here at least once. Their food is decent. I can’t say it is out of this world or unique. It is just your basic breakfast menu similar to a Denny’s (in my opinion). The quality of the staff is quite a bit higher though than Denny’s. I have had lunch and dinner but typically go for the breakfast. If you are not particular about your breakfast options and want a quiet place to chat, this will do the trick.
Delicious breakfast or lunch options! My favorite is the corned beef hash! Awesome diner ambiance with a film production flare! Friendly and engaging staff members! Ive seen them make their shakes and I am so ready to try one!
I like it here, excellent food & service. I will be back with my friends. Prices are fair.
Food is so good and the staff is awesome. Big portions and fast service. I cant wait till they reopen
So, my Grandma used to love this place, as did I, but the last couple times we have come, parking is a nightmare (Cars parking in the worst places, making getting out or in difficult.) Grandma wanted fried clams though, and I wanted to compare them against a place I recently visited with amazing fried clams. Overall, I was disappointed. The clams were overly breaded, and barely had bellies, which is the part we care about as back east transplants. The service is fine, but overall I think the food is a bit pricey for the quality.
Great little diner. The French toast was great. Loved the back deck. Sunshades helped a lot. I just don’t understand why there was such a wait to be seated when the back deck was empty.I would definitely go here again.
Ive never had a bad meal here. The food is good, tasty and served quickly. The staff are friendly and always seem glad to see you. The diner supports our troops and our veterans. A true SD icon, I always try to take out of town visitors there. One of my all time favorite places.
I usually like their food quite a bit. This time I ordered the Salisbury steak. It had a strange spice in it that I didnt care for. The veggies and potato served with it were good. Their chicken fried steak is very good and big enough to share. Their BLT is huge. Its big enough for 2 or for 2 meals. The bacon is cooked crisp, but not burned. If its your birthday you get a very large hot fudge sundae. Enough for 3 or 4 to share. Very generous and good. Great wait staff. They are open late. Worth a try.
Absolutely amazing. Pick randomly by reviews and i couldnt be more pleasantly surprised. Food we had was incredible staff was way chill. Will be back again.
