Well its been a tough month, with taking in two homeless friends one week apart and being unemployed too. Challenging cause of food cost. Well almost everything was gone including my boyfriends bank account. So I decided I better go to special delivery to help us get threw to a paycheck. They seem to give you a higher quality of foods. With the items being from trader Joes and Vonns. Our family appreciates the helping hand.

Each and every experience over 10 years with this exceptional non-profit is excellent and wonderfully fulfilling, because from the founder, Ruth at the Top, to Supportive Volunteers, e.g., Mon-Fri Food Drivers,everybody-young & old are very Special People, too!!!

This place is not a terrible place if it wasnt for special delivery as a single mother I wouldnt be able to make it month to month they provide really good food .... its not canned products.... Im not elderly but I make too much to get food stamps and not enough to buy an adequate amount of groceries for my family and I so I really look forward to going here to shop each month....

Terrible experience at Special Delivery, yesterday. My daughter and I have been going to this place for a few years. Because we live far from it, her chronic health circumstances, multiple medical and therapies appointmes, school, my job training, and conflict with their schedule, we need to plan carefully our trip. It was not so much the dissapointment of finding the pantry practically empty by the time we were allowed to get in (basically bread, expired packets of meat, opened salads, and packets of eggs with half of them broken). My daughter took a couple of bread loads and showed to me thinking that I took them. We also took a plastic cup with some grapes and a few little squares of cheese that we found unopened. When we were getting out of the store, we realized that one of the pieces of bread was not there (when we got home, we noticed that another one was missing). However, the worst of all was the way we were treated by a man (we refused to give us his name... In his 30s, about 6, bold head fashion) style when we were at the food pantry.. We understand that the place is kind of small and that for the same reason, it was difficult to move since there was another lady with a walker in addition to my daughters, so it seems that it took a little more time to be out if the store ( about approximately 8 min in total). Nevertheless, this mans attitude towards us was extremely rude, he was pushing us out, and when I asked him for the bread that my daughter wanted and was left by mistake, he refused and and said that what we took (the little bag not even full) was it and that if we kept asking for it and not leaving the place he was going to call for the police..

Its a good food bank and the setup is good. After your first visit they attached a small sticker on the back of your ID card with the date and time of your next visit. This is done so that there is not a lot of people at one time blocking the sidewalk. Most of the time I get 3 large bags of food. Most times you can get at least one dozen eggs sometimes 2. Most times you can get 2 packaged meats sometimes can be steak. Most times you can get a couple of different types of bread. And you can get a whole bag of fruit and vegetables. And last you can get 5 different items of canned goods.

Everytime Ive been there they have treated me with respect and a helping hand. I am so thankful for the helping hand they give not only to the people but to the homeless too. God Bless You & Thank You.

This is a special food pantry in which people can go and recieve healthy & wholesome some foods. Staff are friendly approachable and non-judgmental.Be the change you want to see in the world This is good karma people.

I am a weekly shopper and I am very grateful for Ruth, Rocky and their staff they are all very friendly and helpful I was on the meal delivery services when I was very ill.Now my health is much better and I am able to cook and this program I have access to fresh produce and meat mostly organic. I am albe to cook some wonderful meals.This program has saved my life.I dont receive food stamps so its other wise difficult to come up with food.Again thank you all.

Transiting into a new position I was introduced to Special Delivery. The team over there has been such a great support in helping me acclimate with the providing of meal services to our Special Needs population. Ruth, Im very appreciative for every call you have accepted, and the answering of my numerous questions. Thank you all for being here for our residents and me. Change Agents on the move....

I have had nothing less than compationate experiences with the Good people at special delivery. They have been a fabulous resource for my needs. I hope to some day volunteer for the community as well. Thank you all.

This is a family run business that have been a part this community since 1973; they operate the family restaurant, where I hear have a great family runned staff.There is also Special Delivery- San Diego,where I volunteered for over 13 1/2 years. The C.E.O. Ruth Henricks, is a God-send for her tireless, and deep devotion in helping all people, who are stricken with HIV/AIDS, and other chronicily ill clients, who, would go hungry without the much needed nutritional hot meals that Special Delivery supplies for them.They also have a pantry for non-perishable foods, in addition, they have started a special Diabetes Nutritional Food Service, that is managed by her grandson, Rocky Carraronza. He hopes one day that his grandmother will turn the reighs over to him; for which I know his personally. He infectious smile, and willing to learn attitude will go a long way towards his goal of someday soon, will pay off in the future.Stop by their place and meet the staff, and you have some time, volunteer. They can always need the help, and above all, you will good in knowing that you helped someone who truly are appreciate you helping them.
