The most dependable coffee shop! It is highly recommended for meetings and social events, as well as for its fun atmosphere. They work tirelessly to provide us with the best service possible, always going above and beyond our expectations. Believe in me! Without a doubt, you will never be let down! Im sure Ill come back again and again. Thats wonderful!
If in the area, pass by this little gem. Stopped in to get a redeye (coffee with a shot of espresso) and it was really good. However, what surprised me were two things 1. The banana chocolate chip bread that I got was insane, moist and full of flavor 2. The customer service, the two person crew was efficient for the morning rush and they were just good ole fashion NICE. That goes a long way with me and I was very appreciative of it. Will be back more often as they won a new customer. Thanks!
I never thought this place would be this memorable for me. Their coffee tasted like old times. I admired their services because they dont have any changes at all. Worth the pay! Great interior from the outside until the inside part of the area. Great service and pricing!
Huge cinnamon toast. Robust coffee. Only takeout due to small store. Great brunch.
Five stars for the rad punk rock vibe. One star for the bad tasting coffee. Thus the three star rating. Hopefully, it was just an off day with the coffee.
So I heard about this wonderful coffeeshop during an episode of This American Life podcast, episode #520, act 3, The Hostess with the Toastess, and I absolutely became driven with desire to come check it out. I took advantage of a business trip in Sacramento, and I drove all the way to San Francisco to experience this place for myself. It was definitely everything I imagined and more! The mocha was so delicious, the cinnamon honey toast was breathtaking and the coconut was refreshing and all kinds of good! Its a must see place but also the story of this place is incredible too, so checking the story out first will give you a sense of her work and the coffee shop.
A good cup and sugar fix. Not all things for all people, but certainly attends to a large clientele. Cool place to sip a cup out front, nice neighbors. And the N Judah stops right there. Check out the startup success story publicized nationally. For me, bit extravagant though, two cups and a tip are my $10 monthly budget for a bag of roasted beans.
Coffee was good. Service was terrible.
The best and coffee. Don’t let the attitude fool you, everyone in here is a major sweetheart.
I just love the coffee in this shop. They were one of the best coffee shops in the area. The coffees and pies they served were the best. The people that visit this shop were enjoying their coffee. The place was so relaxing and cozy. The crews were so friendly and accommodating. Such a great coffee shop in this town.
Trouble coffee will always be one of my favorite coffee shops in San Francisco. Their drip coffee is amazing. My go to order is always an americano with their epic cinnamon sugar toast. The peanut butter and honey toast is also a must. I live in Fremont and I come out here at least once a week to get my toast fix. Staff is super friendly. I love getting my coffee and toast and sitting outside on their driftwood bench and watching the day go by.
Please mark that you’re closed so people don’t go out of their way to come only to find nothing in operation
Trouble is easily my favorite coffee shop in SF. Its off the beaten path for tourists, surrounded by other great businesses, and a stones throw from the beach. The coffee is great and so is the toast. If youre feeling daring as for Build Your Own Damn House, which is a bit of everything. Now that I live outside of SF, it is always a MUST when I am back in town.
Never again. I came in on my way home. I was ordering for myself and a homeless man outside when I was insulted by the owner for buying him a meal. She said the words dont help white people. Dont go here.
Good coffee great cookies. Always asking people to step back so others can pick up.
Long line at 9:45am, but just a testament to good coffee and parklet area. Pumpkin bread was moist.
The place is less noisy compared to other coffee shops. You can also bring a laptop here since they have outlets and fast connections of wifi.
Great coffee great service
Ok coffee but poor service. Not sure if the owner has a thing against Russians or just dislikes men or something
Great little place to get a good coffee stop in
Great as always. My go-to is a dirty chai and their cinnamon toast. Comes out quick and its always a treatn
Best espresso in town, wonderfully buttery taste coffee, cinnamon toast a reason alone to visit, Yoko (fresh squeezed grapefruit juice) for your vitamin boost and do much more. Simply put, a neighborhood gem.
Walked in, no one behind the counter. Thought the employee was a customer, she was socializing with friends. During the transaction she told me confidently, twice, the Colorado Rockies play football. Coffee was fine. The space has very little seating, and no plugs for laptops or chargers and is a no electronics zone. Everything you want in a coffee shop...
Incredible cinnamon toast, great coffee
Coffee is really good and the toast is delicious
Just stopped by for a latte and a muffin. Their coffee and baked goods are great, but mostly recommend this place for the warm, direct, personable vibe theyve created. Also great outdoor seating!
Too proud to be serving burnt coffee.
My wife and I were in town for a long weekend and had the great fortune of being close by to Trouble Coffee. We returned multiple times during our short stay for many reasons. Of course, the coffee was great - bold and smooth with no need to add anything whatsoever. Im kicking myself for not buying some beans to take home with me to Wisconsin! The service was always great and after reading some reviews I had to try some of the much recommended toast - definitely worth it! If youre in the neighborhood I highly recommend dropping in and enjoying some great coffee. Whenever were in San Fran again well certainly return. Plus, to top it off, their mission is awesome. Cant talk highly enough of everyone we encountered there (my wife, who is really particular.. had the best tea latte of her life here!).
Proper hipster coffee, and some good looking pastries, with a nice parklet and cute bookstore next door. Plus the staff is quite chipper, and of course the coffee is solid.
I so wanted to love this place, but after several rude — no, *mean* — encounters with the staff, I just can’t recommend it to anyone. For me, it didn’t even matter that I was a regular (I live a few blocks away); the staff has made snide comments, embarrassed me for asking questions, and made me feel so unwelcome.Luckily, Andytown is just a couple blocks away and a much better representation of the kind community we have in the Outer Sunset. Likewise, Java Beach is just a few blocks down Judah.
Does this place have a lunch hour thats not published during which time it closes to customers? As soon as I stepped up to the counter a few minutes after 1pm and the guy put up CLOSED sign. I shrugged and went to get coffee at Java Beach instead. After 45 minutes of walk at the beach I came back to my car which I parked outside of Trouble this place was open.
💯
● Try the different toasts, theyre GR8!● Im thankful a coffee house exists (Trouble Coffee) that does not play the music you hear on the radio these days.● A Gr8 out-of-ordinary out door seating area.● Be bold and try their FRESH coconut water, st8 from the coconut!
Its a great local coffee shop. There are a few comfy chairs for lounging too.My friends and I immediately felt welcomed here.
Trouble has always been one of my favorite coffee spots near the ocean, unfortunately their espresso quality has fallen off recently.
The coffee is great. Sometimes service is lacking. But solid coffee
Always love swinging by this place when I’m in the outer sunset. Great vibes and a cool lil spot to sit outside and enjoy your coffee. Haven’t tried their toast but have smelled it and my nose says it’s gonna be a 10/10.
Its a bit pricey but I personally dont mind paying a little bit more when its in support of an independent business. The cinnamon toast was delicious and the coffee was good enough for me to drink black (which I never do!) I would definitely recommend this place to others who are visiting San Francisco as its near the beach and also a short walk from Golden Gate Park.
Keep your avocado toast, I want Troubles cinnamon toast every day of my life. This place warms my heart and encapsulates San Francisco in a coffee shop. Its nofrills, prepare to wait, and its a locals place. Gosh I love everything about this place. Also stop by the bookstore right next door and pick up a new book for your toast wait 😁
Ive been told this is the best coffee shop in SF. I finally had the chance to visit and I absolutely agree. The first think you notice when you step in is a mind-boggling aroma of cinnamon from the cinnamon toast! It made me feel like I was at home as a child. I had a cappuccino and it was outstanding.
Overall poor experience. I ordered and paid for an oat milk latte and they used regular milk. The cashier was pleasant, the barista was a stereotype of misanthropic hipster that was being put out by having to make my coffee. He flicked the coffee cup when it was placed on the machine, and then leisurely made the drink after a bit. When I asked if it was oat milk (since I saw him pour regular) he said it was goat milk, and then laughed. I didnt want to get into any back and forth so I just took the drink and left.
Trendy hipster coffee shop. Tea/coffee selections were good. Two stars because the guy who was making the toast needs to get a new role - it’s butter on toast, you’re incompetent if you cannot do that in under two minutes. Twenty minutes later we had toast....
I like their coffee but dont appreciate the hipster attitude from the barista who thinks hes Gods gift to the sunset. The cinnamon toast is remarkably good. Line moves slow bc its so small theres not much room back there. Java Beach is only 2 blocks away and they are so cheery and pleasant there. Plus theres usually 2 or 3 people on register there when its busy so the line moves fast
First of all, their latte was really good. But $5 for a little cup, cmon? Guy at the counter makes simple sandwiches barehand (no gloves) and they charge $6-8 for that, holy cow. My 4 year old neighbors kid does the same ones for the breakfast.
Chaotic place but the toast is on point and makes sense why it kicked off a movement. Get the cinnamon sugar toast and a coffee! The coconut is good if you have some time to hang out and eat it. Quite the experience. Also close enough to the beach to bring your toast there on a walk. This is a great place to take people, but don’t if they have allergies to pretty much anything.
TINY coffee place, with a nice driftwood bench parklet outside. Next door bookstore and other shops on street will bring us back in future.
My girls loved the cinnamon toast. The curly, short-haired girl behind the counter was super rude, not sure why. If I do come back, best believe itll be with a chip on my shoulder! lol
My experience was on a Saturday morning.Line was present but not ridiculous. Maybe 10 minutes before ordering. Everyone was getting the cinnamon toast so thats what I ordered along with a red-eye. Both were good, the espresso and coffee tasted exceptional. The inside decor is cool. An Etch A Sketch art piece here, a no cell phone use sign there, all while the Talking Heads is blasting. Punky. The only reason Im not giving a full 5 star is more for hygienic reasons. It didnt appear employees were washing their hands, and the young lad who made my toast fiddled with his hair and face before proceeding to slice the bread without gloves. Yes I still ate the toast but still.. eh.Ill definitely go back again.
Coffee with an attitude. Not necessarily rude, not necessarily kind. Dont like strong coffee? Dont like expensive toast? Dont like torturous music? Well sir, you can kindly f#%k off. Loving it❤️
Trouble Coffee has been on my list for a while, but I know I won’t be making the trip back. It has a unique alternative rock vibe with really loud rock music and staff screaming at customers when their order was ready. It for sure creates a tense environment, and that’s not for me.The coffee I was surprised wasn’t my favorite it’s a dark bitter tasting americano which reminds me of diners. If you like a more calmer and tasty light roast coffee I’d recommend Andy town just around the corner.I will say there are two stores on either side of Trouble coffee that help calm the nerves after and are worth a look.
The Best Coffe shop nice people who serve delicious coffee and an assortment of pastries that go with your coffee.Good at services.Cant wait to go back there someday.
After waiting 15 minutes for my coffee (they were not busy)... I was told next time, if I order a Gibraltar to go, he would make me something different since a Gibraltar is apparently defined by the glass it is in.I had two young kids in a stroller, I had waited an age, they were bored. I just wanted to enjoy my coffee and sit in the sun. Not too much of an ask...I would also recommend that if you serve food, it may be a good idea to have knives and forks available.
Any coffee shop should be able to make a good coffee; is the ambiance and people that frequent the shop that make or break it.
Cool place for a great tasting coffee and a lovely avocado toast! Both possible to sit inside and outside, outside is recommended tho !
Whenever I am in the deep sunset or can make an excuse to be, I stop here. So maybe three times per year. I only come for the cinnamon toast. The coffee is not so good. However, the cinnamon toast is off the charts. The right thickness of beard, lots of butter, and the right ratio if cinnamon to sugar.
They definitely got the name right. I stopped in this afternoon with my medical service animal to grab a quick cup of coffee and was told by Justin that my dog wasnt allowed inside. I explained to him that she was a service animal and he then proceeded to tell me (several times) that his co-worker was allergic to dogs. First of all, its illegal to tell me that my needed companion is not allowed to be inside. I even pulled out her card to verify that she is indeed a medically trained animal, and then their was this awkward moment when I was like is he going to let me order my coffee!!! I love to support small businesses, however, Im not sure how this coffee establishment is still open considering that the general feeling that I have encountered during the 3 times I have been a patron in this establishment is that the employees could care less about the people that are purchasing their product. I dont get into the city very frequently, but I was having such a fantastic day until I entered this place. The vibe there is completely negative and everyone that works there is rude. Unacceptable how I was treated. Patrons outside were commenting on the same topic.
OMG! I have never been treated so poorly in my life by rude employees! I waited for 30 minutes with only 2 people in front of me. Extremely rude employees. I told someone at nearby store about my experience they confirmed employees to be so rude that they haven’t been back in 2 years.
Excellent & friendly atmosphere, fabulous conversation w/ Barista/Owner, great tea & coffee, (came with a group)....cool Sunset District vibe...
Really cool little joint. Super friendly guys. Diverted there as was in a guide book. Coffee too acidic though guys - so check your gear is clean or you aren’t over ramping, or the blend.
Apologies, I confused this place for a coffee shop, not a tinder date Meetup for the young man behind the counter. Is this a real business? Too many options locally to support Zoolander in real life.
Best coffee and tea in San Francisco, with the best park let too.
Great place to get coffee and of course the famous cinnamon toast. Dont be put off by what looks like a long line out the door as that is the only line (the counter is just inside the door) and things move pretty quick. Relax on the logs outside and enjoy the ambience of the Outerlands.
Favorite coffee shop in the city. The cinnamon and/or peanut butter toast is excellent. Coffee is so good, it doesnt need milk or sugar. All around great spot
Amazing. The Gibraltar here was the best espresso drink Ive had in the U.S. and the staff were very nice and helpful, especially considering how close to closing we came in. The drinks came out incredibly fast and we were offered free drip coffee to wash out our mugs as there was some left over. An excellent experience in every regard. Will certainly be coming back.
So bummed out not meeting Juliette last Sunday (and having to score at the local 7-11 ATM) that I forgot to get toast or coconut... but the latte was fine and the cookie was lip smacking. The sidewalk seating looked just like my fallen cottonwood trees in AZ. Good luck Juliette. See you next time I get back to SF.
Nice people work there ! I ride a motorcycle on weekends come here to have coffee, nice people go there different people go there, usta go to Kava beach.
Love this place. Coffee is made fresh. Line is typically out the door which is always a good sign. The staff are simply the best, each are great small talkers and are welcoming. Still remember when I got an Americano and the guy hands me my order yelling USA! USA! Little stuff like that has me coming back all the time.
An eclectic vibe with plenty of character gives this place a classic San Francisco experience. Friendly staff and an array of patrons from all walks, hipsters, suits, skaters, surfers, and weekend yogis. The donuts are tasty. Filter coffee available in an instant, large queues and kitchen inefficiencies make for a long wait time for espresso coffee.
Trouble reminds me of a little alt coffee shop in a sleepy beach city. It kind of is, in that outer sunset can be a very sleepy spot of SF.Coffee is excellent and toast is phenomenal, but dont miss the fruit/nut bars. Made my empty belly very happy one early morning.Highly recommended if youre nostalgic for an era when coffee shops werent full of people on their Macbooks.
Popular little coffee shop in the outer Sunset that roasts its own coffee - very dark roast - not my personal preference. The crowd that forms around this tiny coffee shop shows that my opinion is in the minority among a large, loyal, local following.
For my birthday I decided what better way to celebrate than treating yourself to some expensive rich mans toast.I order toast. I hand the man four hard earned single dollar bills and prepared myself for toast nirvana. Much to my surprise he handed me back two quarters. I asked what kind of tomfoolery is this. I asked for the $4 toast not the $3.50 toast. I protested, but he assured me it was the real deal. And boy was it ever the real deal. Fully prepared to hate on some toast. I LOVED EVERY SINGLE BITE OF THAT DAMN TOAST. I will return.
