The good can be good, but definitely a risk to take. I only went since it’s the meal plan requirement. I wish that they were not so strict in eating with our backpacks since we pay for the food anyways. I wish the food was more diverse and the lines were not as long.

Pretty much what youd expect from a cafeteria. The food is average and the price is high. If you can avoid the meal plan, I wouldnt recommend eating here.

It was my first time dining here on campus and I was really impressed! I was expecting ho hum American food and was pleasantly surprised to find a lengthy salad bar with a large variety of topping, star bucks brand coffee, cereal, two different skillet areas where they fresh prepare hot foods for students to order. Omg I took out the dessert bar! I love their soft serve machine and they had vegan jello and even a healthy chia, oatmeal super food ball thingy that was super tasty. The restaurant was really warm but minimalist vibe that made me feel welcome, but felt very clean at the same time. I could eat, study there or handout any time here...plus they have heating. Their salami and chicken was really good quality and so juicy too. The salami tasted like this expensive type my mom bought a couple times as a kid and I wish I could take some extra home.

The food here makes me feel ill sometimes because they do not properly cook the meat, but they do have to feed a hundred+ people so I can understand why they rush. They always smile when you walk in and do try their best to keep it clean for having such a smalls staff and area to work with.

Its food... barely. The cooks are great and have a passion for what they do, and the staff are always friendly but ever since Sodexo started managing their food supply, ingredient quality has severely deteriorated. Their meat cuts are poor quality, and sometimes inedible

Ehhh. I mean if you need food and dont want to cook yourself, it works. The variety is not very large in the kinds of food you can get. 90% is the same day after day all times of the day. You get over the food pretty soon.

What can I say... I work at SFSU and eat here about once a week. The food is inconsistent but can be very good at times. I am celiac and need to be super cautious about what I eat. The labeling for gluten free food is inconsistent and sporadic. The people who serve the food seem to be ignorant of dietary restrictions. All that being said, the food is reasonably healthy and occasionally quite tasty.

Great healthy food. Though I can see how students may get tired of eating there almost every day after a while as the variety is limited.

For $8 a buffet, it really cant be beat. Im impressed and think everyone else should be too. Sure, it has its occasional dud of a dish, but its ultimately a fantastic value for some good ol grub

I feel so badly for underclassmen who have to rely on City Eats as their primary source of food. The selection is limited. The hours are inconvenient. The quality is without question lacking, and I usually feel sick or sluggish after eating there. So much so that I now only eat their chicken caesar salad because you cant really mess that up. Oh, and Ill make my own waffle for breakfast sometimes. Also, going back to their hours: they close at 8:00 p.m. Not only is that early for normal people, but itd be nice if college kids full of alcohol could wander in after a party to get a hot meal before they pass out. That would be a responsible thing for the school to do.

If i was starving and you gave me a stale graham cracker, i would still eat it. as a starving, broke student, this analogy sums up my experience with city eats. also, why are there like hours at a time where they serve literally nothing but bread and cereal

They always cook the same pasta, lots of pork meat and not well cook meat, chicken, and turkey. They repeat the menu (food) very often. They think we only survive with potatoes and rice. Where we put the dishes smells horrible.

I usually feel sick after eating here, which is why I stick to the foods like bread and cereal, anything that isnt made in the cafe. I only eat here bc Im a broke college student. The minute Bricks opens, I dont even consider stopping by City Eats.
