Absolutely love this box! It’s so crazy that stores won’t accept certain foods cause they’re too small or “ugly”. This has been so convenient for me being alone and not wasting food! Sometimes I over shop when I go to the stores. I get exactly what I need with this subscription box! So Fun to have random items they choose or adjust to my liking.

I love Imperfect Foods. I like the fact that Im contributing to up-cycyling food and helping to reduce/prevent waste. The fruits, veggies and other food items that Ive ordered always come well-packaged and fresh. The fruits and veggies can be misshapen (hence the name imperfect), but theyre still completely fine for human consumption. I also love the fact that the meats are grass-fed, vegetarian diet, non-GMO, etc. I place my orders bi-weekly and they always arrive on time, fresh and in great condition.

Not sure if there isn’t enough cold packs but had to stop the subscription after three orders. Foods were smashed in every delivery tomatoes to whatever else that was soft would be all over everything and it was so hot and smelly I want comfortable eating it because it smelled like it was always sitting. The potatoes or whatever else would smash anything soft and half of it would have to be thrown away. Then the residue from the fruits would get on the boxes or paper bags and it would be all soggy. I’d stick to dry foods only.

You have a delivery business. Have your delivery drivers follow delivery instructions. I dont know why you bother asking for delivery instructions if your delivery drivers do not follow them. I ran into the delivery driver and was told Your neighbor said it was ok to put it behind the gate. Why as my neighbor if Im the actual client. My order may have been safe behind the gate, but I was not able to get a hold of my neighbor for several hours. This service has been plagued with issues from receiving orders with meat products to missing items to delivery issues, especially instructions not followed. Ive skipped deliveries and went with your competitors for some time and I thought that I might try again to see if things have improved. But they have not. This will be my last order with your company. Theyre the worst.

I joined Imperfect Produce long ago. I enjoyed not wasting produce and items that werent perfect. With a past career in a well known granola grocery chain I know that imperfect items are still edible and good.Imperfect Produce showed up during a pandemic and continues to show up with amazing produce, new products, meat and dairy alternatives, and conventional items as well. Customer service is the best and I have had the best experience using Imperfect Produce and recommend them to others.

DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDERS!! I dont leave reviews often but Imperfect Foods has consistently dropped the ball on quality control as well as tried to rip us off repeatedly.Over half of my past orders have had discrepancies including missing or damaged/rotten/cross contaminated items. Today, my box was missing steaks, some of chicken, fruits and vegetables and if I didnt notice, I would have been overcharged yet again. There was also produce touching leaking raw chicken. My wife is pregnant. I am wondering if your employees have food handlers certifications.Unbelievable.

So far the experience has been mediocre. The food has been fine but the food in the box has sort of been thrown in the box. The produce was not rotten which was good. The biggest issue so far has been logistics. Not sure if they contract with delivery or if their own drivers but I have had 2 bad delivery issues. Amazon, FedEx, UPS, DHL all deliver at my doorstop with no problem so Im not quite sure if the delivery are lazy or what. Cool idea but this might take a while before they figure out the logistics. I canceled but may be back in a few years when they figure it all out. Not to bash delivery but if I were an Amazon delivery person trying to deliver a package to your house and I left it randomly at other mailboxes that wouldnt be cool. I would expect the same.

I have been using Imperfect Foods since the pandemic began. At the same time, I have had some serious health issues that compromised my immune system. So I have been grateful to get the deliveries. But that is all I can say that is positive. The quality of the produce has consistently been so bad that we call the company Damaged Fruit instead of by its name. Not that all fruit and veggies are equally bad, but that in every delivery there is at least one and often several types of produce that are so tired they are barely edible, if at all. This past week I ordered flowers, and they were so droopy that cutting the stems, changing the water, using floralife...nothing could make them perk up. It was a complete waste of money. But I am tired of having to contact the company every week to get a refund that I didnt bother this week, though the cost of the wilted flowers is not trivial .On top of that, not that this is a problem for us, they consistently give us things we didnt order. We have speculated that this is because we get our delivery at the end of the week, and they are getting rid of extras. Often they are things we would never order, which can be positive (if we can give it away). Indeed, we have tried lots of new things, courtesy of their errors. To their credit, they have never charged us for these extra items. But I cant emphasize enough how tired I am of having to ask for refunds. They are better in theory than in practice.

I would have given Imperfect Foods 4 stars if it wasnt for this incident. The delivery person left a 45 pound box on a high shelf in my apartment lobby. (The shelf is taller than I am.) I tried to pull the box down, but I didnt realize how heavy it was. The box fell on my head, injuring my neck and back. Imperfect Foods covered three chiropractic visits, then wouldnt return my calls or emails about getting my chiropractic covered. They handed me over to their insurance company, who denied the claim. Ive spent four months dealing with this (and Im still having ongoing back problems). Ive paid for 8 chiropractic sessions out of pocket, and Im not going to be reimbursed. Its just common sense not to leave a heavy box on a high shelf. There are customers who are short, weak and/or disabled. There was no reason it couldnt have been put on the floor. After telling me they would train all their delivery people so this wouldnt happen again, it happened again. (Photo is from the second time it happened).Edit: My first review disapeared for over two weeks. Now its back up again. Ive tried, but Im not able to remove the first review.

This is my first time ever ordering from a food subscription company. I received my delivery today around noon, and I very dissapointed with the packaging of the food. My spinach, kale, blueberries, mushrooms were not inside the insulated cold bag but yet my pancake mix was (insert confused emoji). All the perishable items were warm/borderline hot by the time I opened the box. Had I not been at home during this heat wave, all my perishables would have been sitting outside cooking in the heat. Also, I completely understand the idea of imperfect foods, but the skin on one of my oranges was split in half, exposing the flesh. Never again! Im canceling my subscription and sticking with the brick and mortar stores to continue ensuring quality control.

All we got was junk when trying this. Rotten fruit and vegetables. Not worth the money. Theres better uses for these products, in juices and soups. The idea that this is saving the environment is nonsense and is just a cash grab. The imperfect stuff was already being used. If anything this service adds even more carbon footprint. What a waste. To the owner, I dont want credits with your company. I dont want to give you business. To your hyperbole regarding food waste. Im failing to understand how that offsets the insane amount of pollution from your fleet of drivers and offices and datacenters produce. The food would be better given to cows as its closer to the farm than wasting gasoline to ship rotten food around the country. Bravo, youve managed to make farming worse.

EDIT: To the person who responded from Imperfect Foods:a. Dont write that someone is going to email me from Imperfect Foods. Its been close to four days, and no one has emailed.b. Dont give suggestions outside of your field of expertise. You dont understand how the insurance process works. My chiropractor doesnt deal directly with Imperfect Foods insurance company. I had to pay out of pocket, then try and get reimbursed.I understand that your job is solely to make Imperfect Foods look better. But you are not helping me in any way.----------If I didnt have to deal with this incident, I would have given Imperfect Foods four stars.About 3 months ago, I buzzed the delivery person into my apartment lobby. Rather than putting the box on the floor, or on a chair, they left my 45 pound box on a high shelf, way over my head. I didnt realize how heavy the box was. My arms crumpled and the box fell on my head, injuring my back and neck. Im still having ongoing back problems because of it.Very unhappy with how its been handled. It took weeks to get them to agree to cover some chiropractic visits. After Imperfect Foods coverered three chiropractic visits, my contact at Imperfect Foods stopped returning my phone calls and emails. After a few weeks, I was turned over to Imperfect Foods insurance company. I spent weeks trying to get their contact info, then more weeks waiting for a response.. Last week, the insurance company told me that they wouldnt cover my additional chiropractic bills. So, now Im out of pocket for $550, (and Im still having ongoing back issues.)If I hadnt had this issue, I would have given Imperfect Foods four stars. On the whole, its been a pretty good service. Every week, consistently, there are one or two items which are underweight, but they have always refunded me when I emailed them. (I did have one experience early on where I got very ill from food poisoning from some Imperfect Foods lettuce, and I felt that they werent very responsive, It took them days to get back to me. I was concerned that someone else would get ill from the lettuce. In general, though, when dealing with grocery issues, the customer support people have been very good.)One other frustration- the delivery people have frequently ignored my directions that they ring my buzzer, so I can buzz them into the lobby. (There is an issue with package theft on my street).Wish I could have given them a better review, because it was a Godsend during the pandemic. Now I just feel frustrated by them.Im looking at the fact that I may have permanent back damage, all because an Imperfect Foods Delivery person wasnt properly trained, and decided to put a very heavy box on a high shelf.

Today we received our second order from Imperfect Foods. Overall we are pleased to support this company. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because of packaging. It seems like things are just thrown in the box. Soft items get smooshed becausethey are at the bottom of the box. Outside of that: I’ve read all the reviews about being overcharged, not getting their items, or their boxes at all. We have not had that experience at all. While I do feel it’s a bit pricey for this hungry family, I like the concept and what the company is trying to achieve. Also, I wouldrather give my business to this company and feelgood that our small family is helping make a small difference that collectively makes a big difference. Thanks Guys! I was so excited for Imperfect. However, if I could give zero stars, I would.Unfortunately, the rule vs the exception is to be billed for food you never receive. This last week, I ordered 26 items, and received 5. FIVE. That would be fine, but once again,I was charged for 26 items, a total of $103.34. These 5 items should have costed $32.25. Do note, ZERO PRODUCE. Had to scramble to order from Whole Foods to get ALL OF the produce, the dairy, and additional meats ordered. The delivery guy also took a photo when he dropped this tiny $103.34 box with these 5 items in it.Great. So now I have an additional wad of money tied up with Imperfect, and had to spend even more money, essentially tying up twice the money for groceries for a week.Good luck getting through to customer service via phone, and you can just hang for days hoping that they make right and respond to your email.I am angry that I recommended this service to family and friends, and have warned them to verify that they are being charged properly. Guess what!! THEY WERE ALSO BILLED FOR ITEMS ORDERED BUT NOT RECEIVED.Almost every order has been over billed and was lacking items. Only one time was I notified things were out of stock, and I was not billed for said items. Once or twice my order was actually correct! This was, BY FAR, the most ridiculous. Literally got 20% of my order at 100% of the price.

We have been getting Imperfect Foods deliveries for a while now and absolutely love the fresh produce and, lately, the variety of meats and dairy products as well. Its a great way, especially during COVID, to cut down on how often one goes to the grocery store.Prices are per item, like at a grocery store, and we spend around $60 a box. We tend to order salmon, chicken, bread, and sometimes yogurt with our fruits and veggies.Often, our bread, which is Daves Killer Bread, is at the bottom of the box and so it is squished beneath our carrots, onions, and apples. Occasionally, we also get an onion thats not in the best condition, soft and molding already, or a veggie thats been dented by other items enough it needs to be eaten asap. But like, I feel their company name warned us of this: Its called Imperfect. These are the excess produce, the ones the stores even rejected, MANY of which are still usable and certainly edible.

I live in Seattle and sad that I have to drop Imperfect from 5 to 2 stars. When I enrolled two years ago it was great but the last year and half has come with errors in almost every box and I am now cancelling deliveries for the next 6 months before I give them one more shot to see if they change their reliability standards. Instead of seeing real concern and changes all I get are automated courtesies and a refund but I should not have to micro manage the inventory and refund process for 6 out of 10 orders. This experience has been best described by another review from Christianne, which I will copy here:I really wanted to support this company and their mission, but every week it gets harder.Every week I have to take inventory of what’s included in my box because every week there are missing items that if I don’t send a message I will be charged.I don’t have the double charges others have experienced but I do have the following issues regularly-* missing items and still charged* incredibly poor packing, milk container on top of bread, eggs, cilantro at bottom of the box, broken eggs, grape tomatoes all over box, etc.* delivered boxes placed in many different areas - twice we couldn’t find them due to being placed on driveway behind car or at neighbors house.* incorrect items sent.* occasionally soft and badly bruised veggies and fruit.Today our box was delivered and once I saw it was only one when usually we have two I knew something was up. All our veggies and fruit was missing, a complete box not delivered!! This is the day before Thanksgiving where we were counting on many of these items for our dinner. Now we need to try and get those items at the store on Thanksgiving day.Every week is turning into a gamble. We’ve been so loyal and patient but I just don’t see the promises of improvement. The biggest issues seem to be packing, order fulfillment, and delivery. Our interactions with the CSR have been pleasant and responsive but still no improvements. It actually seems to be getting worse. I like the products but sadly if things don’t get better soon I will have to leave. It must get old for IF to apologize daily...turn it around guys!!---------(original review, two years ago 5 stars)Love this service, love what youre doing- most of all I love that you take back the boxes!!!Prices are competitive and the offerings are wonderful and plenty (produce as well as non-produce). I feel used. Yes, this is how I feel after receiving my first box. As someone who is very conscious about environment and food resource, I was so excited when I signed up. Its such a great idea. But I have to say its not worth it. The company is playing the buying imperfect produce and lets save food waste game. All you got is a box of unbalanced portion rotten stuff. Half of my box are rotten/dried out oranges. Those 3 avocados I got are ridiculously small and will never be rippen enough to consume. Yes, those produce are Imperfect, but not because their weird shape, just because, well, they are rotten. By going to your local grocery shop and buying the packed up $1 rotten product will do the same to save food resource and environment. And also SAVE your money. See my picture attached.

The delivery driver said he couldnt get into my apartment gate, so he carelessly left it in my downstairs carport. First of all, I live on the street side so you do not have to go into the gate. Secondly, you have to get in the gate to get to my car port so the whole thing makes no sense. The customer service wasnt that apologetic or friendly either 🙄. Probably the worst Ive had for a package gone missing problem. They told me my only option was to get my money returned and add only $15 to my next order. I said I just want my box and asked if they could just send me another one and they said no. Horrible customer service. I told them to just refund me and cancel my membership. The concept of Imperfect Foods is good. It feels great to know that my purchases directly help reduce the food waste problem. Plus, I love that there’s little use of plastic. And their prices are very reasonable. However, their delivery system is severly lacking: food arrives late, in dubious shape, i.e. frozen tomatoes, frozen avocados, frozen citrus, and the delivery person can’t/won’t take their boxes and freezer bags back, so I need to store it.They will kindly and quickly refund my money for damaged produce, their website is great, plus their selection is nice, but delivery is way, way below standard.Once the delivery system improves, this will be an excellent business.

I respect what theyre trying to do and they have some good finds one can subscribe to though the site. For example, their garden wraps, chicken sausage, eggs, wheat bread, and some other items are great though I wish theyd offer more consistency. Between them and buying bulk items from Costco they cover most of our shopping needs. However over the past six months of using this service Ive noticed odd items missing from deliveries. Ive also noticed the occasional item, particularly mushrooms, almost rotting when delivered. If they could deliver the right items and ensure the items arent rotting when delivered Illchange my review to five stars.

I received someone elses box for my first order and they said they cant get me my order for this first week. One of our friends got their first order the day after us and half the food she ordered was not in the box and it was replaced with random items. This service may be good in some places, but central Minnesota does not seem to be one of them.

I was looking forward to receiving my first order from imperfect foods. The process seemed easy straight forward and a good idea, I placed my order online and tweaked it my preferences. The prices seemed reasonible. On the day of my scheduled delivery I received an emai lindicating that an item as unavailable and had been substituted with some that I did not want. I tried to communicate this to them however, when I responded to the email I receive another email advising me that this was not the correct method for contacting them and they sent me a link that was not easy to maneiver. Long story short there was no way to communicate directly with Customer Service to address the issue. When I placed the order I specified that I wanted the order delivered to my apartment. (As they ask you for shipping instruction) On my way to the post office on the day of my delivery I discovered that my order had been left in the mailroom. I received no notice that my order was delivered. I have no way to determine when the order was delivered as it was just thrown of the floor of the mailroom. When I received my order evrything was haphazzardly thrown into the box. I received a bunch of kale that had fallen apart and smelled like rotten leaf vegetable, The frozen items were melted because as previously stated they were left with no notification of delivery and were probably there for several hours. I received two rotten onions two tiny potatoes two small heads of garlic and a bunch of assorted vegetables that looked like they had seen better days. I immediately cancelled my subscription as it seem like more trouble than it was worth. I was sorely disappointed as I did look forward to enjoying my subscription because it sounded like such a great idea but in my case turned out to be a minor disaster.

I was supposed to receive my first box today. Its now 8:30pm and no delivery or contact from ImperfectFoods. I guess their service is also imperfect.I want my money back!So disappointed. I was so excited about this.Update: I cancelled my service and requested a refund. I feel very strongly that if a company doesnt follow through with a service already paid for and doesnt contact the customer, they dont deserve my money.I see by reading through the comments misseddeliveries and slowrefunds are common.I will keep you updated regarding my refund. Im still waiting...Update:Ive changed my rating to 2 stars because order finally arrived today 2 days late and everything but the beets looked great.

Today I had my first Imperfect foods delivery. Everything was great, let’s go through facts: all items are in the box as I ordered. Box was delivered in time and I had opportunity to track it. Items like eggs and fish were put in special cold-saving container, under them was ice pack and all the box was cold. Money were withdrawn from my account after the box was already customized and the period of customization completed. Food is of a good quality as I see. Carrot is very fresh and sweet. Smoked fish was surprisingly amazing and not very salty - I was hesitating most of all about this item. Oranges, mandarins, lemons are good, even better than in ordinary store. Eggs arrived without problems.Customization: even if you’ve put »small box» in your order and you decided to add items, there will be no problems to do that. Also if you don’t have «diary subscription», you can without problems add diary items (or any other category), that was not obvious from FAQ for me. So, 100% adjustable.Only one thing was missing I guess: there was mentioned «welcome starter kit» but I see nothing additional in the box. I will update my review next weeks if something will go wrong. Thank you for nice service :)

I could not be happier with this service! Everything arrives in great condition, lots of options and variety, super convenient, VERY reasonably priced (often cheaper than the grocery store), and most importantly, it prevents food waste and promotes sustainability! This is a win all around--good for the environment, good for farmers, good for me, good for business. Im all about sourcing locally as much as possible, but sometimes a CSA box doesnt give you everything you need and you still have to go to the grocery store. Where I live, that means a 20+ minute drive. Getting Imperfect Foods delivered is such a better option than making that trip, and because you have a set delivery day based on your zip, it actually saves on emissions to have one truck delivering to your area vs. each person driving to the store. And Im more than happy to eat an apple that would otherwise go to waste simply because it grew too big to fit in the grocery store display, or some broccoli from a farmer that ended up with a much bigger harvest than expected. I can not say enough good things about this company. In fact, I love it so much, I convinced a bunch of my co-workers to try it--they all loved it, and so now we get to have it delivered to our workplace instead of our houses (even more convenient, and saves even more on emissions!). Check out their website, give it a try and see for yourself!

Whilst I really liked the concept, I have been very disappointed with the execution and poor (non existent) customer service.First, don’t expect any major savings. Most produce are the same price as grocery stores (if not more expensive, especially when you add the service and shipping fees if applicable). “Discounts” on items reported as mislabeled (or other “imperfections”) are nothing exceptional compared to what you’d get in major grocery stores. It was disappointing but I could still get behind the idea of reducing waste so kept ordering.I have had 3 boxes delivered and every single one was disappointing, my last order was pretty much only good for the trash (moldy/rotten produce). I also question whether they truly sort “organic” from conventional... I had ordered both organic and conventional broccoli... hard to tell but they really looked like they were from the same batch. My last order being pretty much 100% mold or irrelevant substitutions, I contacted customer service... still waiting for their response.Gave it 3 shots... won’t be a 4th.

Overall I’ve had mostly good experiences. It has been very convenient to get regular deliveries of fresh fruit, veg, dairy and meat without having to go to the store. Prices are ok; half are higher than what I usually pay, but I guess the extra cost is for convenience. Sometimes a fruit or two is included that is too soft or moldy, but they also tend to throw in a few extras of other fruit or veg, so I’m not too annoyed about it. Sometimes things go out of stock before my shopping window, it’s understandable, demand is high. Sometimes things I already ordered go out of stock and can’t be delivered, it’s disappointing, but I understand. Sometimes perishables (especially dairy) are delivered very close to their use-by date, like a quart of half-and-half that I have only 4 days to use. Sometimes an item or two is missing from the box and not automatically refunded. I’m giving a huge amount of slack because of the pandemic. For the most part orders have been accurate and on time, and I plan to keep using the service, especially if it improves after the pandemic.

On April 21, my credit card was charged for $46.40 for produce I and my daughter Simone never received. The scheduled delivery was not made on the day promised and not made the next day without any notice to my daughter who placed the order. After waiting 48 hours my daughter cancelled the order. The money was charged to my account anyway. So, we did not receive produce but we paid for it.Michele

Last straw. I received a text telling me my box had been delivered. Open the front door and no box. This has happened before where it gets left at our apartment office and a day later I get notice I have a delivery (of perishable goods). As I walked to the office, there are three Imperfect Food boxes dumped at the stairs of a parking lot not near our apartment. Broken eggs inside, and chard instead of cucumbers. Were done.

Weve been regular subscribers since February 2018. Now more than ever, were big fans of Imperfect Produce. We love the concept of reducing food waste. The food we get is fresh and tasty, though often just a bit funny shaped or not what you expect to see (like a giant, yummy, lemon). And now in the time of Covid, they are helping keep us retirees out of the grocery store and home safe. Have they made mistakes with our order? Yes, a couple of times. Do they address the mistakes and fix the issue? Yes, EVERY time. There is a perfect team of people behind our imperfect produce. Thank you for all that you do!

I get beautiful Imperfect Food boxes every other week. The way you can customize the boxes to exactly what you want and need is so helpful to someone like me who sometimes can’t get to a farmers market or even a store. The produce has all been just as good as any I’d buy from a store but without all the polish wax over them. The delivery drivers are friendly, you know when they are on the way to your house and when your items have been delivered. I have yet to have a bad experience or product from Imperfect Foods. The prices are reasonable and no food is being wasting, it is a great Company.

As much as I want to love this company, they make it impossible. There are frequent mistakes, delayed deliveries or missing deliveries. There should be a customer service phone number so customers can talk to someone if there is a problem with their order. The email service is not efficient and half of the time no one gets back to you. The boxes are not packed so fragile items are protected. The fruit and eggs often come damaged and the bread squished flat. When ordering your produce for the week, the service needs to be reliable. So far, its not happening.

Frequently spoiled or missing items have soured our experience. Although we have been given credit back for bad items, the process takes precious time away from my day. I shouldnt be following up with a support team for every order. It feels too much like an extra job.In addition, for the safety of their employees, they have suspended their recycling program. This is totally fine, but obfuscated on their homepage. How long will I have to be holding on to these reusable bags? Its extremely wasteful to throw them out. Unfortunately, this feels like another gig economy startup with zero supervision and quality control. I might add out delivery drivers frequently seem exhausted, not a great sign.

A little bummed about my experience with Imperfect Foods. Spent about $60 on meat and produce on the first box, and $40 on the second box, but was pretty disappointed with the produce quality.I expected imperfections in the produce, but actually received some produce that was too old/damaged to eat. The photos attached are just a couple of examples. Beets were very small and soft, oranges were also becoming soft. The eggplant was already half mushy and the apple, sweet potato, and onion pictured arrived rotting.I really don’t like food waste. I also don’t like money waste. These two orders were wasted money. I think Imperfect foods could do a much better job.

We have been with Imperfect Produce for a couple of years now. They have always had excellent customer service and ability to receive feedback and grow from it. They work hard to constantly improve and that is something I treasure as customer. Recently my apartment flooded and I forgot to update my address in the system before delivery. Not only did the driver call me (after he showed up at the flooded apartment address), he asked for our temporary address a couple of miles away and then promptly delivered our box, even though it was our mistake! It was a wonderful gesture after a hard week. This is the excellent service that you can expect from them. Highly recommended.

Today I just about had it with Imperfect Produce. Before the pandemic I was getting my orders in weekly. And after SIP started week after week, my order was either cancelled, no showed, delayed (as expected), or given the wrong order all together & missing major items ( more common problem )This company is either too big for its britches or is purposefully screwing my order every week. Each week I email them due to missing items or wrong item all together. Each week they give me the same apology with no discount or a small credit that is IMO gets a bit overused since this is now they’re new M.O.Disappointing how this previously loved service isn’t what it used to be.I was told in the beginning they were going to make adjustments and it’s been 2 months and these issues have gotten worse.
