I am a fan of Timbuk2. They will recycle your old back, or donate it to people who need one, and you get 20% off on your new bag! The two salesmen were helpful and dun to chat with about the bags. I found the perfect backpack for my needs, and it was 30% off during this weekends Memorial Day holiday sale.
Awesome customer service 👏
Very helpful, and patient. Walked in wanted a messenger bag, came out realizing I had other incredible option of a back up that you could use every day and use when you are dressed up. Fit my laptop, and the perfect size. I love my bag...all thanks to the manager and staff at the San Francisco store!
Good selection of bags. Most weatherproof fabric some with leather trim, Brads fittings. Both casual and work designs. Small store, easy to browse selection. Knowledgeable, helpful staff. Easy to reach by public transportation. Located in charming shopping district of Hayes Valley. Moderate to spendy pricing.
Wheel on one of our 4 Timbuk2 suitcases rolled away on us. Guys down at the store were super helpful and accommodating, fixing it in seconds for free. Great products. Great customer service. You’re keeping me as a customer!
The sales guys were super nice and patient considering all the people. I got the perfect backpack and traded in my old backpack for a discount (I think that was a one-day deal).
Timbuk2 has great bags in all shapes and sizes. Beyond the variety, however, is their exceptional quality. If youre looking for luggage, laptop bags, messenger bags or anything similar, they are highly recommended.
Awesome spot to check out designs, type of fabrics and colors. They may not have everything available but you can definitely get a sense of what you want.I actually ended up buying something way different then what I thought I wanted.Easy going rep too!
A cool space in Hayes Valley to check out. The bags are of awesome quality and you can customized them to your own liking. Everyone is friendly and helpful and if you have any issues, they are more than willing to make you a happy camper. Support a great local company!
I waited a shameful amount of time before seeking a return on a defected product. The person who helped me at the store came through though in every way. I was able to replace my backpack with another and walked out with my new pack like a kid starting her first day of school.
The staff was a bit unfriendly and ignorant but asked if I need help once or twice. Bags are awesome and super fancy, little bit overpriced though. I bought a nice backpack and would do it again, however more likely in the factory store instead.
Great gear but really disappointed with the service. Not really helpful at all. PS if you want real Made in SF you have to get a custom bag as the others are made overseas.
One of the most amazing shops out there. They show all the awesome bags that are available. Also if you ever have an issue with a timbuk2 bag they will address it immediately and quickly. They even replaced a piece of the bag that broke.
Need a new messenger or sling back bag?!?Stop right here! This place has pre-made and custom order bags in the most popular and functional styles for today! The materials are all very good quality and the comfort is unbeatable. They even have pads for straps to make your bag as comfortable as possible. There are more functional bags too, like a cooler bag and laptop bags. With a variety of sizes and style youre fall in love with the versatility and the high end design that comes with these bags! I personally fell in love with the back pack pictured below! Such a great color combination!
This place also got free bicycle rental! They also offer messenger bag rental and helmet. Their staff are very friendly and helpful with their bags. The store also has computer where you can design your own bag online.
I was looking to buy a backpack and really excited to find on their website they have a promotion. Since they have store in SF, its much quicker to visit the store. I sent an email asking if they have the same promo in store without expecting a reply next. Jared, I believe he is the store manager, answered the email a couple minutes later!! I was really impressed.
This shop is amazing! They have quality backpacks and the staff is extremely helpful! Our car was broken into and all our luggage and passport were stollen, the staff helped us get back on the road.
Horrible customer service and extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming male employees. Female employee very competent and friendly. Male didnt even know their products. Rarely had such a horrible shopping experience as in this store. I recommend the factory store. Far friendlier and more competent people. Will never step into this shop again and neither should you.
Overall, I had a great experience purchasing my bag. I showed up 10 min before the store was going to close and the clerk lady was very helpful. She allowed me to put all my belongs that I normally carry inside the bad to see if it fits and was very informative on the design and function of each bag. Best part, I purchased a bad that will not be released for a couple months. She said they only had a couple in store and will be officially releasing the bad (with a wool flap) in December. Parking sucks in this area because it is so small but I love the mini shopping area.
Found what I needed fast. Quality and prices were fair and customer service was excellent
Great selection of high-quality backpacks and bags. Super helpful salespeople.
Super friendly people working there. They will work with you to customize a bag. I went with one of the standard backpacks though. Super easy process for an awesome bag!
Wonderful staff who were attentive and honestly told me the pros and cons of all of the bags. With a life time warranty, theres no doubt that Im a happy customer.
Everyone knows Timbuk2 makes great messenger bags. I was happy to find their retail sales people backed that up with great service and a super-friendly attitude. They even offered suggestions for dinner in the neighborhood. (Straw SF was terrific, by the way ... thanks, girls!)
Appreciate the amount ofoptions available for customization. Locally made products always a plus. Super fast turn around time. Amicable pricing.
Great selection of top quality bags. The staff really knows the ins and outs of every model as well...I was very impressed with how well they knew minute differences between similar models. I opted for the Command TSA-friendly backpack. It has lots of creative pockets and keeps my Macbook very safe.
I first discovered Timbuk2 at a garage sale. I found a purse for $5 and immediately fell in love with the durability and the usefullness of it. Then I happened to be eating at Stacks on Hayes and notices the store so of course I wandered in. Sticker shock hit me immediately! Yes, these bags are pricey but they are worth it. I am now the proud owner of a messenger (I have used it daily for 1.5 years and it still looks NEW), a backpack, and most recently the copilot luggage. The copilot is the BEST suitcase I have ever owned! Why you ask? Two reasons:1. It holds everything and all the crap I bought and had to bring home with me.2. The wheels are like magic! I never had to pick it up and reposition it or fight with it in any way. My copilot (I think I will call her Jill) never tried to wandered. She stayed happily trailing behind the entire time.Moral of the story: Quality costs money and the best suitcase EVER is definitely quality and totally worth the money.
Terrific store and company!Had a carry-on bag for several years that suffered a failure with the telescoping handle - brought the bag into the store and they immediately honored the lifetime guarantee. In and out in about 10 minutes. They have a lifetime customer, as a result!
Can’t say enough about how great the staff is at this location. My next bag will definitely be from here
Great salesperson! So helpful and smart.
The backpacks are quite stylish but when I tried one I realized the straps are not cushioned enough and that the backpack felt uncomfortable even while empty. What a shame.
Every bag they make on display and available for you to touch and sample fit. Staff very accommodating with the goal to make sure you have the right bag.
I loved this place. The differences in the bags are not obvious, but the man there was very knowledgeable, helpful and happy in explaining the differences in the bags and what to look for.I will gladly go back.
Selection was poor. There were no shop specials despite being a physical shop. Prices and promotions followed online website pricing. Friend got a bag from them only to realise that Sports Basement had the same identical bag for $10 cheaper. Made a purchase myself and they didnt have carrier bags for me, had to carry my purchase in hand.
As part of a healthy transition to San Francisco life, I bought a messenger bag from Tumbuk2 a couple years back. Great quality, excellent customer service. This year I upgraded to a briefcase and received a credit for trading in my own bag. Last month I stopped by and bought a carryon duffel. Same quality, same service, same insane amount of pockets.
Just bought a bag here. A small store but they have lots of bags on display and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. Timbuk2 makes great stuff so this is a good place to go if you really want to try out the gear rather than order online. Timbuk2 bags are not cheap so if youre like me you will want to go over the merchandise in person before you make the investment. Also the neighborhood is super chill so its worth a visit for that alone.
Nice place to try on your dream bag for fit and feel. Staff goes out of their way to be helpful even when they are busy.
If you have a Timbuk2 fetish, but have never taken the time to see the place, its a must. While its just a tiny shop in the heart of Hayes Valley, it packs a lot of stuff. Theres probably one of everything they make, and a chance to try it one, carry it around or just check it out in person. If you dont find exactly what youre looking for, you can order it at the store with the help of a Timbuk2 employee, all of whom could not be anymore helpful. The place is bright, clean and easy to find. The only issue, parking, but that comes with living in San Francisco.
Awesome customer service - I came in to ask purchasing velcro strips for a bag I ordered that didnt include them. They gave me a set on the spot. I have two of their messenger bags that have both traveled more than 70,000 miles with me over the last two years - in Arctic and desert camping situations as well as through airports and around town. Im looking forward to checking out some of their new backpacks.
One of the best intersections between price and quality. Very helpful staff.
Check out the outlet on the other side of mission if you are planning to get their more popular bags
Love my backpack, stylish and practical. The guys at the store were super helpful.
Good luggage, clean part of town
Small curated selection with great service, but bettered served to go to there outlet store.
Great place but, if you need a repair, go to the factory location since theyll do it on the spot
Had a wonderful experience and theyre very helpful to new people!
Super friendly staff, was able to find exactly what I needed.
Nice store to see bags in person and helpful staff. Selection is limited/small.
Great customer service, and some of the coolest bags Ive ever seen.
Staff is very helpful despite not having the stock I was looking for.
As of the deals here are better than they have online.
Awesome and knowledgeable staff, you get to check out all the gear hands on, and the product is obviously excellent.
Excelent Bag Store, Its a nice place. The best offers
Staff could do a better job being attentive to customers.
Cool to be able to try on and see in person all of the Timbuk2 bags. Excellent customer service.
Great shop for local made bags. Its good quality but quite expensive though.
Awesome conventions on their designs like bottle openers and plush pockets.
First off, I LOVE the Timbuk2 bags!! Ive had one for about 10 years and use it most every day. I now need a new, larger one to fit my new laptop. I went into the Hayes Street Store and had an awful experience. One of the sales people was worse than the other...but both were less than helpful...and rude to me. I felt like I was bothering them. I was only in the store for about 10 minutes...decided to leave and either find another product or order online. I called the Timbuk2 Customer Service line and they were very helpful.
I traded my custom messenger bag to get the Muttmover, I needed other options to take Dune my Chihuahua with me, this was the best choice. I want a custom muttmover so get with the program timbuk2
Used to love Timbuk2 laptop bags, not a lot of lately. This is their primary location. Very conveniently located in hayes valley. Close to a lot of restaurants and smittens ice cream spot. Small store but offers choices to look around. Tip: they carry stuffed cases or fake weights to stuff in your backpack if you want to try out their gear on how it feels when its fully loaded.
Great bags for work or travel
Wow, products that are cool and functional, thoughtfully designed, and comfy. Not just for messangers any more!
Employees are really helpful in learning about the various items, and extremely nice! Can get a little crowded in the evenings or weekends, so plan accordingly!
Pretty small store and not a huge selection.
Great durable bags with many different configurations. customize your own bag here.
Great store! great bags! very SF!
Timbuk2, oh Timbuk2, how could anyone dislike your locally-made ethics and your TSA friendly bags? Too bad youre located on a particularly trendy block in Hayes Valley, and thus are perpetually swarming with people. Granted, I came on a Saturday afternoon, which by all accounts is tourist-primetime, but everyone seemed to want to see everything (which means less sales-rep attention for me :( ). The sales reps are still as attentive as can be, though, and not pushy at all, which I really appreciate since Id rather walk out than feel like my decision to purchase was somehow guilted on to me. Fun fact: The in-store display bags are stuffed with adorable blow-up pillows that highlight the citys best napping locations. Its a shame youre not allowed to take it with you, as I would have made ample use of the information (and the pillow as well!)
Not cheap, but what you get is consequently Not Cheap. Durable and stylish bags that are great for the daily user.
I had a broken clasp on my bag, and they fixed it for free in 5 minutes. Great customer service!
Friendly staff and quality products!
Friendly staff and good vibe within the store
Omg i bought a small timbuck to and i love it
Limited selection and the store is kind of cramped. But the bags are still amazing!
Friendly staff and not pushy .
If you want a backpack go there. 100% service and fantastic products.
A backpack store that lets you check their goods out and really inspect them in their table. Pricey packs but possibly worth it if they last a long time.
Excellent store with great selections!
Amazing backpacks.
Small space and to many people inside. No real place to check out the bags. So I bought one but not gonna work so now gotta return it. :(
Parking is crazy, but everything is available online. 👍🏻
Theyve upped their backpack game. Local outfit, too.
These folks are amazing
Selection in store was limited and staff were not super attentive to us.
Didnt buy anything, but super friendly and engaged staff.
Completely satisfied.
Retail shop sell bags
Nice bag
Small shop but a classic in the city. I bought a small messenger bag, but it fits everything. Excellent quality that never disappoints the brand. They always have offers.
Great bags, well thought out and made, advice and cool sales.
Female clerk unmotivated. I thought this brand was bad. The opposite peak design is good.
Magnificent bags and backpacks, there are usually interesting occasions and balances
