Was going home from hospital and needed a coffe badly! Stopped by BlackHorse and excellent coffee had bought a breackfast somthing and Henery was so busy he was kind enough to stop and heet it up for me, I left before it was ready, he came running out to get me, but too late. Icalled back when I got home Henrey was very apologetic and said next time I came in he would buy me a coffee. We need more Henerys in our lives!

Great coffee - my dry cappuccino was just the way I like it! Limited pastries left in the afternoon but cookies are good. Nice patio area.

Great place for casual or business meeting. Both the coffee and the service are good. Tables are clean and staff is friendly.There is also seating with shade - and a variety of tables sizes for 2 up to 6 people.

First time here. Coffee and pastries were very good. Reason for three stars: Pulled into the lot and a group of about eight grouchy old guys sitting at the table outside in front of Black Horse, “parking their not so nice” personalities, there. My wife smiled and said good morning and only got some grumbles. Then one of them came up to me, “WITHOUT A MASK” invaded my space, tapped me on the shoulder and told me I could not park in the lot because his company owned those spaces. Asked whether I read the sign. We were only going to be there 5 minutes. Objectivity was not their strong suit I guess. I did leave quickly and picked my wife up down the block. If it were my business, I would not serve anyone who would harass my customers. They have a legal right to place the sign there, but according to another person in line, these guys harassed her a few days ago about parking there as well. It’s kind of crossing a line. I would think that bad clientele could hurt a business.

Really good coffee but more importantly great staff! I spilled my coffee when I walked out and they remade my drink without hesitation.

I think I rattled off some drink orders incorrectly and didnt realize until the drinks were made. I let the barista know and she was very patient and accommodating with me. And the drinks were delicious 🎉

We got there on 3pm they ran out of baked goods. The coffee is o.k

A great coffee spot for the slocals. It’s stood the test of time. Baristas are welcoming and fast, and it doesn’t take long for them to anticipate your order. Love it!

Its a Saturday and there are long waits at restaurants for breakfast. The Blackhorse has a good breakfast burrito and a muffin with real apple in it. Great food and seating. Do wish they left out napkins for self service though :-).

A SLO classic. It was my first time and its a nice coffee shop, they have pastries and different types of drinks. I enjoyed that their coffee is the no BS type, aka you dont get tons of cream and sweetener, you get what you need, with subtle variations in the tastes. Their cakes were moist and sweet enough to pair well with the coffee. Their staff is polite but I had a hard time defining what I wanted, not knowing the classics of the house and didnt get much help from the person that served me. This establishment is definitely used to be well known so it can be a tad intimidating when you dont know anything about it.

Ive been to a variety of coffee/tea places and this is by far my least favorite. Their drinks are overpriced and overly sweetened. The cafe appeared clean with a relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately they dont provide much of selection to choose from.

Good place to have coffee & baked goodies 😋. Lots of outside covered seating for you & your dogs. Staff is friendly, Ill definitely be back 😊

Very friendly, taking Covid concerns responsibly. I ordered a caramel latte and they make their own caramel! It was absolutely delicious, and the perfect topper on a rainy day.

Just had the best coffee with a bakery item at this place! Made a short breakfast stop in SLO in the cold wind worth every minute. We will go back again next time in SLO.

Great Chai latte, cold or hot. This place has been here for a long time with a name change or two under its belt. Its a nice reprieve from the kreuzberg, or Starbuck busy body places elsewhere in downtown SLO.

Good coffee. Friendly barrista. Bathrooms were not open. I hate to frequent establishments that wont let customers use the restroom. Even in the age of covid you can make restrooms safe. That is why Im not going back to any Starbucks again. I hope Black Horse changes their policy.

Great employees!It was a crazy hot day so they recommended the frozen lemonade.It was delicious. Tart yet just a tiny speck creamy. Really good.Ill be having 1 or 7 again.

Great cup of coffee. Staff at this location can be a bit standoffish. The muffins are great but if you order a bagel you have to cream cheese it yourself. I prefer the Broad Street location.

Coffee at BlackHorse always seems to be good. I get the Caramelo each time and its never too sweet. The prices are what youd expect at a coffee shop.

At 10 to 6 in the morning a homeless man stops me as Im walking by. He tells me hes been saving all week for the best tasting coffee in SLO. He made a wise financial decision as did I. Coffee is amazing and the service is excellent.

Favorite coffee shop hands down. I usually go to the one on higuera, but all their locations are great. When I lived outside of San Luis Obispo I was sad I couldnt come here as often. And their coffee beans make the best at-home espresso! ☕

Blackborse is a cozy coffee place in downtown SLO that is neither commercial nor overly trendy. It is just a solid place to read a newspaper and drink coffee. Bagels here are good, but I cant say much about the other food items. Ive been here a few times, and the espresso has been consistent and yummy. You have plenty of options in SLO, but this is one that every type can enjoy

Iced mocha was good, but really mild in flavor compared to your standard espresso drink. Huge selection of pastries!

Solid coffee! At least, thats why my friends tell me who love coffee -- me, I enjoy the pastries and hot chocolate. Occasionally, Ill get a nice spicy chai too!Still, the people who work there are quite knowledgeable, friendly and serve a good cup of everything (including coffee, but seriously, dont take my word for it, take everyone elses!).

Fast, delicious, spacious, easy listening. Room enough inside and out (with no steps into building) for strollers or wheelchairs.

Blackhorse is a local favorite. I enjoy this location for studying except the Wifi cuts out once and a while and parking is bad unless you want to pay for a meter. Blackhorse offers wonderful coffee and this location always has a very clean and fresh bathroom.

Had a delicious oat scone and a hot chocolate, both were great and the service was wonderful!

Walked in once while visiting family at Cal Poly and fell in love. Their coffee is terrific and they have laidback music playing the whole time. If I could, I would go back in time and tell myself to apply to Cal Poly SLO just so I could visit this shop on the regular.

Ordered a coffee brewed by the cup. Ended up paying $3.50 for a half cup of decent coffee. Not stoked on the experience.

Decent espresso at a reasonable price. If you are picky about your coffee, there is a chance you wont like the espresso here though.
