I was very excited to find a shop in the Bay Area that offered Vapor Honing (Vapor blasting) services. This method of media blasting uses ambient temp water with #6 glass media. The media is so fine it feels like baking soda. I learned this after but youre able to leave plastics and rubbers on and vapor honing does NOT damage the part. Since its a non-abrasive process the parts come out clean and almost polished looking. I feel like the aluminum parts get the best shine. One of the shop guys showed me a steel manifold that was vapor honed and since the metal was harder it doesnt get the same shine but the parts still come out nice. I believe that this is also called dustless blasting... Since the media is carried by water, there is no risk of heating up or warping parts. I will definitely bring back more parts for them to take care of!
