The place is busy and apparently popular, I came for a coffee break and overall mg experience was poor, place was dirty inside and outside, I ordered a chai latte and flavor was too strong, when approaching the order the waitress said I should wait for my number to be called however I had been sitting outside and explained I didnβt hear it. If you decide to come make sure you keep your receipt the toilet only opens with a code printed in your receipt and same waitress was unable to provide me the number even tough when I explained I had trashed it.Overall not a great experience specially staff mood.
Great breakfast place - perfect coffee and morning breakfast. You will definitely love the positive vibes of the ambiance. Itβs really quite too so you can easily work with your morning coffee or just hang around with your friends and family. I had a mocha and Egg avocado sandwich and my partner ordered latte with a everything beagle. They all were delicious. I will recommend this place for a nice coffee in big mug!!
Big Mug coffee roasters provides a fair selection of coffees and snacks to go with them. The ambience is open yet focused with an industrial warehouse feel, and for meetings they have an outdoor marquee. The seating outside is hard, narrow metal chairs - not ideal for any length of time,. unlike the wooden seats inside.
Love this place! Great coffee shop in Santa Clara to hang out with some friends or get some work done. They have free guest WiFi and outlets all over the place so you can be productive and get some work done or study. It does get a bit crowded here so it may be hard to find seats around peak hours or around college final exams. The overall ambience of the place is really nice and homey. The have a section with bench seating and lots of pillows. They also have a large bookshelf with multilingual selections in various genres!Looking at the menu, there isnt too wide of a selection of coffees, teas, and food options, but the quality is great and they are generally average priced for what youd expect from a cafe.Theres a parking lot of in front for the parking lot, but it usually is busy and fills up fast. However theres generally a decent amount of street parking available nearby.
They had some really fun looking flavors of coffee and the barista was so sweet and provided a great recommendation! I ended up going with the ginger latte which was warming for a somewhat cooler day. I got their Florentine which is an easy go to. The two items went very well together. Sat outside but the interior looks really inviting so hopefully one day customers will be able to enjoy that again! Solid local establishment :-)
Nice cafe packed with students. Some would say itβs noisy, but mostly cozy. Service not very fast due to the large demand. There is a large selection of drinks and food and the presentation is really nice. While I was waiting, all the latte arts came out are well done.Surprised to find the environmentally friendly move that they use dry spagetti noodles to replace wooden stir sticks! Creative and cute ;)
Awesome Coffee, Awesome Food. Great vibes. Good study/work environment if you dont mind the background music.Im a sucker for one off coffee shops, and these guys have great vibes. Has the mom and Pop feel. Some people might not like the strong taste of the coffee, but Ill say its properly roasted, not bitter like Starbucks, and I appreciate strong coffee. Keeps me awake during peak study sessions. The foods are great, both in diversity and taste. The environment is pretty good for studying or working if you have headphones or dont mind noise. I fall into this category, so I enjoy hanging out and working here. I could see myself bringing friends and family to hangout here in the future.Great stuff.
Great coffee selection. I had a vanilla oat milk latte. Hubby had a regular vanilla latte. I had the salmon avocado toast without cream cheese and hubby had the avocado toast. The smoke salmon avocado and pesto combination was great but the toast was just a piece of wheat bread, it didnt hold up to the ingredients. Avocado toast had two slices of hard boiled eggs. Again wimpy bread.Atmosphere was kind of loud. I like the cafes to be quiet and intimate. This was a big place where people veg and others that wait to pick up their to go coffee...irked that they crowd around our table.
Service was slow. Went in during my lunch break. Waited 20 mins for my latte even though there were 2 people working at the espresso bar and only 4 drinks in front of me. Latte tasted burnt and watered down. The Manager has an attitude and isnβt very nice. Spacious and nice space though.
Nice ambiance but coffee was pretty burnt tasting. i got an iced vanilla latte⦠disappointing
Nice place and good service. I ordered a cup of green latte and requests staff to do some art on it. They made it look so nice! Drink is good, not too sweet! Avocado toast is great. Highly recommended!
They only have one size which is small. Its not very satisfying when you travel 20 minutes. A medium size would be nice. Also I asked for a lactose free coffee and one with regular milk. The barista didnt label them with marker so was confused as to which was which causing confusion and my brother ended up feeling gassy although that may have been just because of the foam on top being milk based. The point being, this was easily avoidable. Please mark special requests with pen.
For speciality coffee / third wave enthusiasts - the single origin espresso, blends, and cold brew are on the darker side, which is cool if youβre into that. They are the only shop to sell Shakeratos in the area which is interesting and worth trying out if you canβt make them at home. Not my first choice, but itβs the best in the K-town/Sunnyvale area for sure.
A new favorite, and still delivering! Their menu includes strawberry ricotta toast with honey, garlic honey toast (thick and cut into cubes), and excellent bagels.Recommend you get one of their Ades, delicious lightly carbonated drinks with citrus jam (marmalade...lemon-afe) etc. This location is by far the place for me... citrus, honey and tea. It might be the place for you too!
Great to see them still here. Nice cozy place to enjoy a cold brew before I head to work. Tip: If youre gonna stay a while, get a printed receipt since it has the WiFi details.
Cool hipster vibe coffe house with big airy seating area. I had about a hour and a half to kill waiting for my car in the shop across the street at Century Auto so decided to come here to chill. The sweetest barista got an El Salvador cold brew with 2 pumps of brown sugar syrup and came out just right for me on this hot summer afternoon. Keep the receipt as the WIFI password and the bathroom codes are on it! Overall an enjoyable time there.
Get the green tea latte! Probably not for everyone but I loved the green tea chunks in it
Definitely not a good place for an Americano. They basically served hot water with some coffee flavor. Although, good ambience for getting work done and to have a meetup
The coffee is not bad, the atmosphere is relaxing and there are plenty of seats. By the way, pay attention to parking, it is said that it is easy to be smashed here.
Best hang out coffee place in the neighborhood. Always a lovely experience going here, either for a pick up or to dine in.
A treasure!!! A must find!! More welcoming & inviting than Starbucks! There were lots of customers present but it wasnt overcrowded. The beautiful smell of coffee was very invigorating & memorable. The customer friendly personnel was an added bonus. Not to mention, the presence of life, not the motion of life, but life itself was very prevalent and all around you. There was lots of laughter & warmth present; as well as, an atmosphere that was both peaceful & calming. Plenty of seating was available for everyone inside/out and a clean bathroom on-site (accessible by code).Worth mentioning - the young lady who took my order didnt rush me even as a line of locals grew behind me. She spent an extra minute with me and answered all of my questions. She helped me decide on a hot Carmel Macchiato. I explained that this was my first time here to Big Mug Coffee Roaster. She said she understood as I was comparing the selection of drinks to Starbucks. She stated that she used to work at Starbucks. She also told me, hands down that their Carmel Macchiato was way better than Starbucks. She was definitely right about that. She was professional, engaging, believable and pleasantly friendly. Her smile and confidence were an added blessing to this beautiful experience. The cherry π on the cake was when I came out of the bathroom, the young man who was making the coffees handed me my coffee with a smile. Wow! What a great experience this turned out to be.Too often, business personnel rush you through saying, NEXT ie - Starbucks, Peets, McDonalds, Carl Jr., etc...; but, not here. Big Mug Coffee Roaster made me feel wanted, welcomed and appreciated!Thank you for the feel good feeling and great service. I will go back.
I visited this place with a few of my friends in late June. The place was packed. But we found a table for 3, luckily. And there was a queue up to the entrance to grab a to-go. I got a pour over. They dont have drip coffee. They have pour over or the Americano. The pour over was a medium blend. It was well balanced coffee. Ample parking available in strip mall where this cafe is located. Restrooms are also available for customers in the cafe.Knocking off a star as it was not a distinguishing experience.
Price - $15 for 2 peopleValue for money - 4/5Ambience - 4/5Ordering over the counter is a bit difficult coz of the music and also the mask. Overall, a great coffee place thats got a chill vibe.
The manager working here is really rude. Asked me to go out after I asked if they could change the playlist because the beat is too strong.βReplying here since google review doesnβt allow me to reply the manager directly. The reason that store manager stated was not mentioned when he asked me to go out. Let me be clear in describing the situation: I have politely asked the barista for help if it is possible to change the playlist . He replied by saying they will change it because they are currently busy. I asked again after 15 minutes, but still get the same reply. At this time, the store manager suddenly stand in front of me (out of no where) and asked me to go out without explaining anything he mentioned in the reply. I totally understand that we respect social distancing and safety of other people, but he didnβt mention that at all. Although I talked the issue through (with my initiation) before I leave and he admitted that the playlist doesnβt fit some people and needs to be tuned down, I believe the manager owed me an apology for acting rude. By the way, the only reason he originally stated is asking me why the music fit well with other people but not me. I believe he lacks the basic respect to the customers.
No drip coffee. When I asked for cold brew, they said no cold brew, but we do have these other things and none of them made sense to me.Use some standard naming conventions for your menu please. No need to reinvent the wheel to order coffee.
My only recommendation is to lower the music volume, which BLASTS at clubbing levels. Its difficult to hear the person across the table or study here even with the help of noise-cancelling headphones. 20+ people are wearing headphones trying to block out the music. There are speakers everywhere so one cant choose to get away from it. I nicely asked the baristas whether itd be possible to turn it down, they said yes but didnt do it. Isnt it a bit selfish to turn up the volume just so the baristas can hear it better over their coffee-making, while everyone else was having a hard time? Other than that, the food and drinks are decent.
Big Mug is the cafe that has been taken straight out of a movie, its rustic, warm and classic. (Whenever i go there for some reason it always reminds me of Lukes Cafe from Gilmore Girls). It has a lot of super cute features which is one of its big draw.I ordered their latte and it was really good, the highlight is that they give you coffee in big colorful mugs! The staff is friendly, good and quick service, you wont have to wait long for your order. The place has plenty of seating but a lot of benches dont have back.In terms of crowd, The place is very chatty and crowded most of the time so not recommended if you are planning to go and read something there.Overall, I love this place and would go again for the coffee and the cute decor.
If you really want good, you should be here. If you want to get some work done with you coffee, come with a pair of ANC headphones. I have often encountered chatty people around if I were lucky enough to find a chair/table. But you can usually find a table if you wait a bit and maybe not come in a group. Love the coffee. Love their fruit toast. And the matcha is
This is my go-to coffee joint for good drinks and ambience. Theres something about working in a cozy corner of a shop with large headphones, blasting music amidst the steady stream of chatter that boosts my productivity. I have always preferred the hustle & bustle of coffee shops to the whisper-quiet of libraries, and Big Mug epitomizes that experience.- The layout of the shop is neat and quite spacious, with plenty of outlets to go around. Theres plenty of natural lighting + recessed overhead lights- Their cold brews are tasty, as well as the matcha latte. And though Ive only tried a couple of their food items, I found them good as well- They have decent wifi (though recently theyve implemented a time limit). Tip: If you are an Xfinity customer you should have access to the xfinitywifi which has decent wifi strength.
We visited today around 12:10pm, ordered coffee and almond croissant, which unfortunately was not fresh and tasted bad (it was firm and very dry). The coffee was good though but croissant ruined the impression. Weβve been going to this place for 3 years and didnβt expect pastry to be that bad :(
Service was horrible. I had to ask multiple times for my order. Lady said she checking and forgot. Just to find out it was in front of her. Horrible experience waited over 20 minutes.
I was looking for a good local coffee shop, but I was disappointed. This place is terrible. I waited 10 min for a pour over. Phils does not even take 10 min for a pour over and they are legit. The customer service was terrible. They have a bunch of young kids who could not address my issue with pastry. They poured a massive amount of honey on my waffle. When I said this was not edible they said my manager is not here we would have to chargeyou again. Lastly, the poor over was terrible. Not sure how this place has such high ratings. I guess when you have no competition other than Starbucks. At least corporate evil Starbucks would have refunded me or gave me a new pastry. Manager/owner get it together! I want my $9 back! BTW, the guy who ordered a pour over who came after me is still waiting for his pour over. He has been waiting almost 20 min. Inexcusable!
Hands down best coffee in San Jose... And Ive tried the majority of shops here. Chromatic coffee comes close.
I visited here on a Friday.Pros* Place is good - has good outdoor seating & indoor as well.* Avocado Toast is good, but bit pricy.Cons* Wifi is a joke - it has a one hour limit, I was given the password at billing and it just didnt connect. Xfinity hotspot worked extremely well in comparison to their wifi.* The turning off part was - I ordered a drip coffee & the person taking the order charged me $5 for a regular. When I asked him that other fancy ones were around $5 & how can drip coffee be $5, he blabbered something & pretended to check something. The menu says - $3. He came back & charged the same - I clearly knew he was duping me, but didnt ask anything further & paid the bill, got my coffee. While I understand it is hard times for every one, an incident like is a lost opportunity since the customer wont return, because you are cheating & over pricing me. I would have a left a generous enough tip. I wont return to this place for sure. Sorry!
Stopped by for an Expresso machiato but didnt care for their coffee beans.
Poorly managed online ordering system. Despite ordering online, had to wait 15 minutes behind the order line for a team member to even entertain and handover the online order. The coffee got spoiled just waiting behind the counter.

I loved the setting of this place, the menu & coffee drinks are good as well. Plenty of parking when I went. Customer service was normal, nothing out of the extraordinary. For 5 stars I would have liked the baristas to be friendlier & give suggestions. Overall it was a brief, but good experience.
They used to have great avocado toast, but since 28th of August 2020 something happened. Now it awful and untasty (only one piece of bread instead of two, not toasted, its not juicy right now, without seasame on the top - something you dont want to eat). And the last time I asked not to add black pepper as I asked all the times before, but they added. Coffee by the way is still good. Its so disappointing when the good place turned to do things this way and you have to find something else for breakfast.
Big mug coffee has become my goto place during weekends. When I am feeling pretty lazy sitting on my couch, I just pack my bag and go here for a productive weekend. Parking can be lil pain in the ass, also it tends to get lil crowded after 5. They have free wifi and lot of space for hanging out and working. I usually get the American, but have tried other drinks too. Their green tea latte was bomb. My husband loves their cappuccino. The honey roasted garlic bread is super yum too. Loved the ambience, hippy and cool.
Good coffee, great ambience
Slow service employees dont help when customer arrive
Good coffee & snacks ! No restrooms available that are open thΓ³ugh.
Terrible customer service, no respect for time or line orders. PS: The reply to my comment says my order was announced which is not true. A bigger order was announced multiple times and my order was not announced, despite me asking about my order 2 times. This reply exactly replicates the behavior of the personnel in the cafe which is to act as if the customer is being unreasonable and was the real reason for the one star review. I liked this cafe initially but you have to have a decent customer service in the long run!
One of the best coffee in Santa clara
Nice ambience and unique coffee
Fix your contactless payment please
Pretty good coffee shop in a sea of decent food and inordinately mundane scenery. The clientele here is as eclectic as it gets, which is an interesting cross-section of people. A little disappointed they close the pour-over machine at night. I am not sure what that means when all you need is hot water. But it was good, would go back for sure.
Great coffee, cute place. Opens a little late for my morning cup. More of a daytime coffee place.
It is such a pleasure to sit in the here and not do anything. Just sit, sip, let your mind roll blindly, blankly observe myriad of people around you. Observe the people diligently working, those absorbed in talking to each other, those sipping like me and busy in their thoughts and those taking photos of their partners. Even though so few people are actually talking there is a continuous buzz here. Soft music is playing, there is a continuous whir of the machine, numbers are being announced, and a few people people actually chattering. Though it feels like people have settled here for hours and not really moving, the machine is working continuously. In the 2 hours I have been here 70+ orders have been places and delivered. Oh and the most important pleasure here: the COFFEE. Made with the perfectly roasted beans, with the exact right amount of bitterness, just right to give you other worldly pleasures. With the perfect companion of avocado toast, with drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Oh its perfect. I love you Big Mug Coffee Roasted!
Mount blanc is great. Highly recommended
Nice big outdoor seating area. Coffee was good. Croissant was delicious.
Nice spot open an safe..staff are amazing
Great as usual, their hazelnut latte is very well balanced...not too sweet, just right..
Just incredibly friendly
High quality coffee.
