I bought my car from Volvo Santa Monica but wont be coming back here for any reason after my experience. I had a service appointment for a normal checkup + a couple of issues that I was experiencing. I let them know when i initially booked what those problems were. When I got there, they said it would take 5 hours because of the electrical issues that I mentioned. They didnt have any loaner or shuttle service to offer me and seemed to not care when I walked out of there and let them know Id take my car to get serviced at a different dealership.Theres other options in town and Culver City Volvo has always treated me well so thats what Ill be sticking to.

My service experience was great. My service manager Robert had my car back to me quick in a couple of hours. I was out of the loaner car and back in my car in a snap. Everything they fixed was done to perfection. I also liked that they didnt try to sell me stuff I didnt need.

I went in to schedule an appointment for a future date as it was nearing the end of the work day. However, Klaus, the service rep, was able to fit me in on the same day. The service was completed quickly, and my car was also cleaned inside and out. I greatly appreciated the time savings and care the technicians and service department gave me and my vehicle!

I bought a XC40 there a year ago and purchased the recommended protection (for blown tires and scratches, etc.) but I have not been reimbursed for my blown tire due to debris on the road (covered by policy) that happened in November of 2020. Thats coming up on one year and I have been trying a reasonable amount to get paid back. I even have an email stating I would be reimbursed for the tired and that theyd cancel the protection policy that I paid $2,000 that is clearly a sham.

AVOID Santa Monica Volvo. The service department screwed us out of about three thousand dollars worth of unnecessary work over several weeks, which did not fix our Volvo, and we had to take it to Culver City Volvo to be fixed. Santa Monica Volvo unnecessarily changed rack & pinion, brackets and drive axle. They are incompetent and dishonest. WE WILL NEVER BUY A VOLVO AGAIN, thanks to this experience.

PLEASE STOP AND READ THIS, I dont like to write Bad reviews. Okay, I am from the Midwest visiting my in-laws in the Orange County area for a couple of weeks. While I was out here, I was planning on purchasing a 2014 or newer Honda Odyssey and shipping it back to my home state. I went to Volvo Cars of Santa Monica to look at a 2015 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite. There I was greeted by Joe Halpert who is the Pre-Owned Sales Manager. Joe made me and my friend feel like we are part of the family. Joe said they just took this vehicle in, It needed to go through the shop for all the used cars inspections before I could test drive it. After I test drove, Joe stated that the shop was going to replace a few things and also an Egr valve so it would pass Smog before its sold. After the purchase, Joe put me in touch with someone to arrange for the shipping, Joe also promised me that he would fill up a full tank of gas, have the vehicle detailed inside and out and send the manual book alone and the fob.When the vehicle was delivered, 1- The vehicle had 1/4 tank of gas, 2- No detailing was done on the inside or out, 3- The Manual or Fob wasnt sent. I was a little upset, less than 15 minutes after driving the Check Engine Light came on. I took the vehicle to my friends shop for the diagnostic of the Check Engine Light. He replaced a Canister Purge Valve solenoid which cost me about $300.00, which shouldnt have passed the Smog test so he did not do what he said. The Egr Valve and the parts Joe said they replaced were not replaced. To top it all off, they screwed up the paperwork, which cost me another $100.00 to FedEx the paperwork twice. After a couple of months emailing back and forth with Joe, the dealership reimbursed me for the repairs and 1/2 of the FedEx cost. I cant believe that a dealership runs a business like that. My advice to you is I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!

They got me the car that I wanted but were horrible with paperwork and difficult to work with. I got stuck with the final payment on my old lease, which we had agreed they would pay and is the reason I turned my car in early. It took 2 months to get my license plates & registration because of their delays filing paperwork. I had to chase them for everything to keep the process moving. I would get your Volvo elsewhere.

Would give them 0 stars if it was possible. The sales associate calculated numbers for a car they didn’t even have on the lot and then had me test drive the top of the line vehicle and I quote “let’s go over the numbers again so you are not surprised” The vehicle price went from $727 per month to $916 After speaking with the sales manager and notifying him he did absolutely nothing. My wife sent an email voicing her concerns and frustrations and she didn’t even get a response. Horrible customer service!

We called SM Volvo about 10 days ago because they had the exact SUV we were looking for. I gave the Sales Manager Armin B. a number I was comfortable with and he agreed to it. We drove down from Orange County and the car was all ready to go. Rachel the salesperson was really helpful in getting the paperwork done and explaining some of the features of the car. At this point we were very happy with the service we were receiving.In our situation we took advantage of an offer that allows you to turn your lease in a few months earlier as long as you select another Volvo vehicle. I SPECIFICALLY told Armin to make sure that we don’t get charged for our January payment due to this program. He assured me that there would be no problem. A few days ago the charge for the previous lease hit our account. My wife called him to discuss this and he could barely remember who we were and what the situation was. He then called us back after talking to his finance manager and said that we should have just cancelled the auto payment. Not once did he mention that we need to make sure to cancel our autopay with Volvo Financial. It felt like it was his first time ever dealing with an early lease terminationRachel the salesperson was supposed to email my wife the next day her contact information. To date we never received it. Armin was supposed to mail us plastic tabs for the front bumper license plate. Never received it. Left two messages with the General Manager two days ago. No call back. My wife was supposed to get a call back from Rachel yesterday as she had been off for the past couple of days. No call back. Needless to say we won’t be coming back here again and will not recommend them. It’s a shame that this dealership is allowed to sell such a fine automobile.In the future we will deal with a dealership that doesn’t just care about the sale on the day of but also the support afterwards. Volvo corporate has been notified.

After spending 2 hours at MB down the street and finally giving up, I decided to head to Volvo to test drive the XC90. I have been looking at this SUV for a while driving around LA as it is a great looking truck. They immediately acknowledged us and informed us someone would be with us soon, since they were short staffed. Soon after, John the Internet Sales Manager came to help us and took us for a test drive. Man, oh man! I was amazed at many things, the interior, technology and smooth ride. It took less than 1 minute to tell John the numbers I had in mind and he put them all together. As a matter of fact, he was able to get me into a T6 AWD after I thought I couldnt afford it. The check out process did take a while, but I am now a proud Volvo driver. Great hassle-free service from this dealer!

If you shake anyones hand there, count your fingers before you leave. Oh, and the service department is great if you like torture. They misrepresented an S90 I purchased. And on my previous S80, the service department damaged the car, and wanted me to pay to fix it. Luckily I had extended warranty, and they still asked me to pay for the deductible. Sadly, theres no 0 star option. I called Volvo North America to complain, they already knew about the service manager by name. Obviously, not the first call they have had.

I strongly recommend against giving this location your business. When I was buying a vehicle from them, they insisted that my husband fill out an application along with me. When questioned multiple times as to why this was necessary (it was not a strictly financial consideration) they never really gave an answer. There is no excuse for this type of misogyny, especially in 2020. I so deeply regret ever dealing with them.

If i could give negative stars I would. We purchased a fully loaded XC 90 and have had othing but problems. We had a leather issue and the deal;ership refused to fix it. We had to go to a different dealership and work with Volvo corporate customer care. The car had multiple problems and enbded up being in the shop for a combined 8 months in the first two years. Agaiin, it took Volvo corporate customer care and a legal threat to get a lemon law buy back. Then we were owed several thousand dollars from the dealership. They said they took catre of it and it took 8 months of hounding and further Volvo corporate involvement to get a check from the dealership. Then when it was for the wrong amount, I was told to go to corporate volvo, the dealership did what they were told to do. There could not be a worse experiewnce for a luxury vehicle. These people will not stand behind their product and will do everything in their power to save themselves a dime. Their are way to many dealers to risk this type of treatment. Do NOT buy a car here!!!!

Very poor customer service. I’d give zero stars if it were possible. When I bought my car at Santa Monica Volvo in January of 2018, I purchased an extended warranty that I could cancel for a refund of Any unused portion. As you can imagine, they were more than happy to take my money. They showed their true colors when I traded the car in and requested the pro-rated refund (as stated in the contract). They sent me from one person to another to try to cancel - no one was clear who was responsible for doing this. Carlos Gerpe told me he would handle it but instead he dragged his feet until I checked up on the progress. I had been told that he would use delaying tactics in hopes that I would forget because apparently that is common practice. Honestly I am so disappointed. I want to support local businesses, but I regret doing business with Santa Monica Volvo at all. And by the way, I asked Carlos Gerpe today what the status of the refund is. He told me it will take another 2-3 weeks. Shameful customer service. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else but here.

Very bad service. This is not the first time that this happens to me. First, the number that shows up in their website is not Volvo, it is Masseratti, so when you call they transfer you to Volvo, which means waiting on the phone for about 5 minutes. If you are lucky a real person answers your call. My husband took my car on Saturday, they told him it was going to be ready the same. It was not. On Sunday 5 pm they left us a voice message saying it was ready, but the shop was about to close> We went to pick it up on Monday, but I could not take my car with me because they did not have my keys!!!!!!!! They lost my keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Negative reviews about their service dept. are well warranted. It’s a hot mess.I’ve attempted to make an appointment for regular maintenance for 2 days (multiple times). They don’t pick up or call back. Spoke to the manager and after some excuses to the tune of “they’re not just hanging out, brother” he said he’d have this resolved. Still haven’t heard back.Just called the dealership in Culver City and was squared away in about 4 minutes.

My experience at the service center of Volvo of Santa Monica was nothing short of first rate. I brought in my three year old Volvo SUV that I had driven all the way from Toronto, Canada - the automatic arm of the trunk had broken. I bought a used Lexus RX 350 last weekend from Volvo Cars Santa Monica. Jeff Williams the Porfolio Manager was very patient, and mostly due to him and Steve the Manager or Owner I purchased the vehicle. I have given 4 Stars as I had a very unpleasant experience with the Finance Manager - Carlos. On Monday or Tuesday (Dont recall) I called the dealership as my Bank who was financing the purchase, was not able to get the information required as the Finance Manager was off . I spoke to Melissa, who was excellent on the phone and promised to get the information to the bank the following day. My wife and I just had a great experience leasing a Volvo XC60 hybrid. Mike Upham was the best - he made us feel comfortable and was very friendly and transparent about the process. He even sat with us to make sure we fully understood all the numbers so we could be confident in our decision. I will add that the vibe and personality of Volvo Santa Monica is a cut above the rest; most experiences at dealers can be “salesman-y” and this was not the case at all; no pressure and gimmicks. I recommend them (better than Culver City Volvo).

I was very disappointed when I took my car in for service here. As background, I have an older Volvo (2003 C70 - I love this vehicle) that I took in for a diagnostic when the check engine light went on. I had made an appointment and specifically asked the operator if she could guarantee a loaner to get to work (she said if I took a specific appointment time I would absolutely have this). From the moment I arrived, I felt that because my car was not new that I could expect secondary service - contrary to Volvos company values. The workers here literally went around my car in line to talk with the customer who arrived after me with a new vehicle, the simple diagnostic was not completed for 2 days, and the service team member reneged on the promise of a loaner car because mine was old. After deciding to go forward with my service here, they literally took a month to resolve the original issue. While Ken, my service team member, seemed to try his best and provided clear communication and updates - the fact remains that I had a terrible experience here, and hope that Corporate Volvo takes account of this review as this location failed to live up to the standards I had come to expect in my decade of Volvo ownership.

I am originally from Alaska. I had leased a Volvo XC 60 from Volvo of Santa Monica in California as some of my family was in California and I was traveling back and forth between 2 places. The leasing process was fine. However, as things happened my family decided to move out and since I had to honor the lease and I liked the car I decided to buy the car from them. My plan was to buy it from them and drive it up to Seattle and get it shipped from there. I called them 1 week in advance from Alaska to confirm that Ill be coming to buy out my lease and told them my plan of driving up to Seattle and getting it shipped from there. I took days from work and everything was planned as well. I talked to 3 people there who work there and explained my situation, my plan and asked if there is anything that is needed or wrong with the plan. I also told there is no Sales tax in Alaska and if that is a problem. They all were like Oh no, no problem at all with the situation and that I should just come in and we’ll be done within an hour and that all I needed was my driver’s licenseSo I go there and all the pricing and all was done which took about 4 hours. Then they still were charging me sales tax as if car touches California roads there’ll be sales tax or I get it shipped from their lot itself. This was news to me! I almost felt being black mailed into this deal at that point, after I had paid for the whole car in cash! I had been calling them for a week before talking to different people and why didn’t they think of this then. Only explanation is that they were not listening at all and were focused on just making their sale. I was left stranded with no plans to stay in California, no hotel booking, no plan for flight back also my shipping was planned to be done from Seattle so I had no hotel stay in Seattle as well. It cost me hundreds of dollars for on the spot booking for hotel (about 350) plus Uber (40), overnight flight to Seattle (about 400 may be more), hotel stay in Seattle (200) and about 1500 dollars more shipping re-arrangement from LA.I understood it is California rule to get the car Shipped from the sales lot to avoid Sales tax however they could have told this to me on time so I prepared accordingly. Also as I was getting it shipped the shipping company told me they give bill of lading upon delivery of car in Anchorage and not at pick up which would have been a week after pick up. But Volvo was adamant for bill of lading at pick of Vehicle from their lot. Although I explained How does it matter if they get the Bill 1 week afterwards, but they were so adamant that I had to change shipping company again and pay new company 600 dollars more! This has been a nightmare to buy from them. Also upon coming here I learn that since I had already had lease on my name I could have driven to Seattle without buying the car and gotten it shipped and could have bought it from Volvo in Anchorage and escaped all that hassle. Why didn’t they tell me about this option? They were so focused on getting their commission for the sale.This just doesn’t end there. Since I had paid off the vehicle completely I should have the title on my name and I haven’t received it yet. I have been calling their office for 2 weeks and not been helped at all. I have been trying to get hold of their Manager and even asked them to tell him to call back whenever he is here but they haven’t. I do not know what to do. They are just greedy, non-helpful, sales group. They pretend to be helpful but once sale is made its no business of theirs at all. Volvo prides up on sales services and has this foreign tours for people to make it an experience. So far all I’ve had is just disappointment and pathetic service.Too bad Volvo and even worse Volvo of Santa Monica

Can I give a zero start? Because I being there 4 times trying to fix the roof of my XC 90 and Robert the service worker never answer my calls or reply my voicemails message to me. I am tired of making trips from LA to Santa Monica Volvo service and waste my time the whole day to pick up or drop and not fixing the issue.. also I being waiting for some car parts ordered and requested supposedly more than a week ago and not updates of anything. But I asked for carwash. It took more than an hour and NO ONE cared enough to let me know that will take some time OR AT LEAST UPDATE ME. Also my car started to smell after their carwash.

This Dealership is awesome. I called ahead of time to negotiate a lease deal. Alyssa worked the numbers out for me and had the car ready and washed when I arrived a few hours later. We went for a test drive and I loved the car. Alyssa was knowledgeable on the car and its features. I was out of there in 2 hours with a brand new S90. She followed up, responded to my emails afterwards and I took all the stress out of the experience. Great place to get a Volvo. They arent pushy, they are quick and effecient. Thank you Alyssa!

Ive been bringing my car to this dealership for maintenance and oil changes for two years. Ive always been very aware that dealerships can be a rip off and priced higher, but have never experienced anything shady per say. After this morning I will no longer be bringing my car here, I am blown away by their lies and shadiness! I had my boyfriend drop my car off for a standard oil change this morning, the same oil change I always get that costs $65. They told him the oil change was going to cost $210. I had him put Oscar who was helping him on the phone and asked why an oil change would be $210. He said the $65 price was a special that they dont have right now. I asked what does $210 include, just an oil change? So youre telling me every time Ive brought my car in for two years there just happened to be a special, but nobody ever mentioned anything about a special. He said yes. I told him that made no sense and I would call around and get an oil change somewhere else. I immediately called the Culver City Volvo dealership and asked how much an oil change was for my Volvo C30, they said $65. I told him the situation and he said the oil changes dont ever cost more than $65 and that was not a special price. In the meantime the Santa Monica dealership preceded to tell my boyfriend they would go ahead and give him the price of $69.95. I called Oscar back and told him my finding after calling Culver City and that I didnt appreciate them trying to rip me off. He continued to insist that the Culver City location was running a special, thats why their price was so low. I said so next time I bring my car back if theres no special youre going to try and charge me $210 again, he said no we made a note on your account. Umm, so you made a note not to try and rip me off because I know whats up!? I checked out Culver Citys website when I got off the phone and the special on oil change they show is actually $39.95 right now and clearly says $65 regular price. Anyways, dont bring your car here unless you want to spend more money that you dont need to spend, or if you do take your car dont talk to Oscar! RIP OFF! P.S. I see their responses to unfavorable reviews say were not sure if this is a real review. This is a real review, it happened today!

My wife and I had an all around great experience leasing a car from Cornel Dunning at Volvo. On my first visit, he spent hours with me learning about what I needed, talking about my options...the pros and cons based on what I wanted. He spent a lot of time taking me through the features and answering my questions about safety options, which was important to me having a young child. He also has fantastic route for a test drive that takes you through freeways to city streets to neighborhoods, so you experience the car in all L.A. environments.I went to a few dealerships that weekend, and Cornel was the only person who didnt email and text me every few days, which I felt was unnecessary because I wasnt going to forget who I visited.You should definitely ask for him when you visit the dealership.

I have now been to this dealership for service 3 times. My first experience was terrible but I have been happy with my two subsequent visits. On my 3rd visit, my service rep was not available when I arrived. Other service reps noticed that I had been waiting for a few minutes and took over the intake work. When I arrived to pickup the car, again my service rep was unavailable (looked like he was on the phone with another customer). Other reps saw me waiting and again took care of me. 1 point off for not being available twice (bad luck) but good job to the team for noticing me and picking up the work.

Thanks to Chris and the sales team at Volvo of Santa Monica, I had a truly great experience leasing my new XC60. I am a three-time Volvo owner, and have owned several makes of luxury brands over the last decade, but have rarely come across a salesperson as responsive, friendly, knowledgable and enthusiastic about any vehicle. After getting the run-around at my old dealership, Chris made an aggressive offer out of the gate and saved us both time and frustration, I showed up the next day with the car completely ready for me, the paperwork filled out, and the deal exactly as promised. I was in and out in less than 90 minutes - even after Chris took the time and effort to energy to customize every setting on my new car. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend Chris and Volvo of Santa Monica for a new Volvo purchase.

I went in looking for regular maintenance and an oil change on my Volvo Xc-70. When I picked up my car all of a sudden the air conditioning wasn’t working at all. Literally moments before I handed the keys over the air conditioning was working flawlessly, perfectly cooling the car in seconds. The regular maintenance took four hours and somehow the AC is totally shot by the end of it. I talked to the manager and assistant manager and both said that for no reason ACs just stop working and it was a coincidence. This AC worked frustratingly well up until this point and they expect me to believe that it suddenly stopped working, it all felt like a ploy to get me to spend a thousand or more to get it fixed. Now thanks to the Santa Monica Volvo I’ll just continue with the summer now without AC. This place is excessively expensive. Ask yourself before coming here if you want your car to be worse coming out of the service department than when it went in.UPDATE: I found out recently Ken the service guy who was working my case was let go, seemingly for joyriding peoples cars. Ask yourself if this is the type of place you want to trust with your Volvo

I have never leased or owned a Volvo before. We were impressed with the new body of the XC90 that I would see driving around and thought it may be out of my budget. My wife and I just had a new born baby and I wanted a safe car for the two of them while driving around. I did some research and the XC 90 was great. We contacted Volvo of Santa Monica and Alyssa called me back the next day I️ told her about my budget and she was able to within 2 to 3 hours give me a deal we could not refuse. Terribly unprofessional place. Great prices on used cars but be prepared to deal with schmucks. Salesman was a joke who had no idea what he was talking about. Very inconsistent sales pitch and semi disrespectful to my friend (female) who was the one buying the car. Negotiated a price after taxes and fees and on the way out to sort out personal finances, a manager rudely informed us that he had miscalculated tax and it was going to be higher. Would have bought the car if they had been more straight with us.

We purchased a vehicle from Volvo of Santa Monica back in September of 2011. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle the coolant light began to come on. Took the car in to have them check it out, and was told that there was a computer issue. Went home and the coolant light continued to come on. Took it back in the following week and was told that there was a crack in the coolant reservoir, and that we would need to pay to have it fixed to the sum of almost $2000. After pleading my case that they sold the car to us with a broken coolant reservoir, they agreed to pay to fix the issue, and we subsequently paid almost $500 for maintenance on the car.Fast forward and the coolant light continues to come on, we take it back to Volvo of Santa Monica (currently under new ownership) and they determine that the coolant reservoir was never replaced to begin with. They offer to fix the issue, which we had to pay for $2800 and tell us that the car is as good as new. They had the vehicle for a month and upon dropping the car off, they offered us a loaner vehicle, they were out of loaner vehicles and informed us that they would pay for a rental from the nearby Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Enterprise took our credit card and charged a $300 deposit for the vehicle, which we had for almost 3 weeks due to the prolonged time it took to fix our vehicle. When we returned the vehicle the deposit was refunded to our bank account. This was all November/December 2012.Fast forward to April of 2013 and we are hit with a $300 charge from Enterprise Rent-a-Car of Santa Monica for the rental that Volvo of Santa Monica never paid for. It is now May 2013, and after various calls to both Enterprise and Volvo we are still waiting on a refund.If you need a Volvo please stay as far away from Santa Monica as you can. September 2011 our nightmare began, and we are continuing to pay for a luxury vehicle, that turned out to be no more than a lemon.Yes the dealership is under new ownership since we purchased our car, however those new owners have now thrown us into the middle of their battle with Enterprise and now we cant seem to get an answer about a refund on a rental we were told would be taken care of by Volvo

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE! We bought a 2016 XC90 from this place, not realizing how terrible the dealership would be! The vehicle constantly had issues, one mechanical problem after another that Volvo could NEVER fix! Not once did they ever reach out and offer to make it right! It became so bad, that we had no choice but to use the Lemon Law.Now the dealership refuses to pay the refund on our Gap Coverage Insurance and Volvo Increased Protection Plan, despite documentation that it is owed to us!Volvo corporate keeps passing the blame game, not standing by what was promised and defending shoddy dealerships like this one.Terrible business, horrible service and completely unethical! Dont ever buy a Volvo. And dont ever buy a car from Volvo Santa Monica!

Im a proud new owner of a Volvo XC60! Cornel was really great to work with and made the car-buying experience easy and stress-free. We worked out many details over text! He was super responsive and easy going. The car itself is super fun to drive. Im not sure of everything the redesign will come with but it would be nice if it defaulted to battery when idling. Other than that, I love it!

Its too bad because the last dealer here was excellent (I bought 2 volvos from them) but then Volvo gave the location to a new dealer and all the good people left.

I have had my XC60 worked on at Volvo of Santa Monica and have been very happy with the professional quality of service advisors and technician. I recently had a safety issue on my car and they fit me in for an appointment even when I didnt have an appointment to check repair the safety issue and he technician also came out when they delivered my washed car and explain what the problem was and assured me it was safe to drive.I trust this dealership with my car and have always had pleasant experience for the past three years when I go in for service.. I have been at many dealership in the past because of all the driving, but I never have been as happy as I am when I have my car service at Volvo of Santa Monica.Thank you Volvo of Santa Monica Service and keep up the excellent work.

Very friendly people, exceptionally lackluster service after sale.Leased a XC60 from Volvo Cars of Santa Monica in early December. Deeply disappointed with the lack of service and follow-through on nearly every level after purchase. I wanted to have a good experience, I even sent a referral (a friend who loved mine and decided to get an XC90) before all was settled with my own car. I am starting to wish I had not.They seemed to be professional when selling the vehicle, but found it impossible to maintain responsibility or make/return phone calls. In the end I am doing things myself that they had promised. After replacement of an interior door panel (which had a scuff which could not be removed on the day of purchase) I will likely have all work done at another dealer, and will lease elsewhere from now on. There was no haggling. Julio gave me what I thought was a fair price right away instead of the going back and forth which I cant stand. Buying a car has to be one of my least favorite things to do. I sent him some information electronically and the next day I drove over to volvo to pick up the car and sign papers. Everything was ready. I was there for about an hour. It was so easy. Was told that my warranty was being denied because Volvo of Santa Monica claims that trash under my seat caused an SRS light. When I asked for the physical evidence they claimed they threw it out. I guess they didnt think I would ask for proof. Honestly, who wouldnt. Paid a $370 diagnostic fee, and when I got my car back the service engine light was still on. What a day at Volvo of Santa Monica. Zeke is the guy in charge but hasnt spoken to me or reached out to me. Still waiting....
