Been coming here for years! They have lots of flavors! From sweet to savory! I recommend everyone to come here at least once! Price is a bit high but trying it once to get the experience is great! Every time I come, I always get 6 donuts.. because I live an hour away but it’s so worth it! Parking is a bit hard but they do have parking spot for to go orders! There’s always a line so have make some time before deciding to come here.. I’d say 15-20 min wait each time.. even if it’s just a pick up.. cause there’s going to be people ahead of you. Their coffee is good too! Do try!!
Absolutely love the sidecar experience! On Wednesday’s they do the cinnamon roll donut! By far the best thing! My daughter loves the cake donut with sprinkles! I also must say the customer service is exceptional! I could not help but order a half dozen so we could just try a little of each! Highly recommend that!
Ive heard of this donut shop from Orlando, FL areas (East Coast), and just have to experience it for myself to see if it matches the hype. And boy, this place far exceeded the hype!! 👍 👌 👏 👏 👏1st of all, the donuts are so light & fluffy, unlike most others are doughy, dry, and full of sugary flavors. Not here. These donuts here are SO AMAZINGLY tasty, and you can tell, these are made with love & attention to the details, as each style donut carried a taste of their own distinctive characteristics. I was in AWE and just flabbergasted as I tore into one by one and savored them.Oh, and not forgetting about the friendliness & hospitable of the staff for making us feeling welcomed there for our 1st overwhelming experience. Thank you for not making us feeling as if were wasting your time, thanks for that!! 💯🤙
Where do we start with downright the best donuts, née breakfast pastries we have ever had.Firstly it all fresh, as in just made, crispy outside, gorgeously warm on the inside.Secondly, the flavors are wonderfully inspired, the aroma of real ingredients hits you long before the tongue. This is the definition of a five star rating.
Tonight I enjoyed the ‘Celebration’ - a gluten free, vegan option. Additionally, that particular donut is made with a nut free batter! It’s difficult to find a treat that meets all of my dietary needs/preferences. I was blown away - This donut was every bit as good or better than any ‘regular’ donut I’ve ever had. Sidecar hit it out of the park!!! Thank you, Sidecar!
Sidecar is the absolute best ever! I used to drive 20 miles in rush hour the opposite direction to get them for the office pre-pandemic. Now that our meetings are only minutes away, we get to enjoy them fresh and still warm and theyre even better. Love the rotation of flavors although huckleberry and butter and salt are crowd favorites.
We waited in line about 15min before making it inside to place an order. I’ve heard great things about the vegan donut and was looking forward to trying it. The consistency reminds me more of cake than a traditional donut... very moist. But overall impressed with the consistency! Vegan baked goods tend to be dry and the chocolate donut tasted great. Given that the line was so backed up with orders it took us another 10min to get our latte, so expect a bit of a wait if you’re visiting at peak hours.
I am by no means a doughnut connoisseur - usually happy with a classic glazed from Krispy Kreme on the rare occasions. That said, Sidecar’s doughnuts were some of the best I’ve ever had. Made fresh each day by the wonderfully friendly staff, they offer classic & not-your-everyday flavours.Ordered the Vanilla Bean Glazed, Butter & Salt, and the Glazed Apple & Sage (so sad I couldn’t try a bite of everything they had). All were fantastic. My personal favourite was the Apple & sage. Thank goodness for my health I live on the other side of the continent because I’d find myself here every week…
Do you have to be a person with MONEY to enjoy places like this with a $5.00 something donuts? of course, you may say, hey you cant afford it, dont go there. which is TRUE and my motto. with an expensive donuts and long line, I DEARLY HOPE the employees are getting a decent wage to not put me into shame by ASKING for a tip when you pay. again, I am just a hard working regular employee and I value my hard earned money. I give 20% to my waiters (good servers) but for someone BY THE COUNTER who does not serve me but to ask for my money and people bagging them for a tip, RIDICULOUS...
Sidecar Doughnuts are always amazing! I love how they always have new flavors to go with the season as well as their staple flavors! I’ve been to multiple locations and haven’t been disappointed at any of them! The line is usually pretty long, but they have a very efficient system so it doesn’t take long and even if it did, the wait would be worth it!
Just wow! Sidecar was such a delightful surprise, no doubt the best donuts I have had thus far. We tried the blueberry, cookie dough, and chocolate ones, and they were all fantastic in their own unique way. We also tried their black onyx mocha, which is really rich and dark with the right amount of sweetness to complement the donuts. The staff is very friendly and funny, and made out first visit memorable. Cant wait to try Sidecar again!
This is the easiest review Ill ever write - without reservations, Sidecar Doughnuts makes the best donuts Ive ever had. Period. Both their cake and yeast varieties are culinary perfection - and with monthly and seasonal varieties - theres always something new and delicious. My only disclaimer is that they dont contain preservatives, so these arent going to last a few days. But thats never been an issue on my household.
Wow. Visited on vacation to the area and what a surprise. Possibly the best donuts we’ve ever had. Huckleberry donut was amazing. If I’m ever back in the area will definitely visit again. Highly recommend.
We went there for a kids event our friend took us to. Such great service. The owner was so kind and treated us very well. Donuts were AWESOME. Huge selection and they were all so tasty still warm. Right out of the oven. We need more places like this!
OML where do I begin with the chocolate donuts! They are an absolute bliss and just melt in your mouth. Perfection!! Next time I will try the other donuts as well. The black onyx mocha is good as well but what beats these two is their customer service team full of smiling folks doing a great job at making sure the lines move fast
This is a staple and a must-do when in LA! Donuts are made fresh and they change up their daily flavors/offerings in addition to their seasonal flavors. We had the pleasure of trying maple bacon, huckleberry, chocolate chip cookie dough, sweet potato, sprinkles mamba & pumpkin pie donuts! Also try their iced coffee - so delicious and refreshing and can be made with whole or oat milk.Open now with COVID safety measures in place. Amazing & friendly staff. Very clean. Outdoor seating is also available. Please support your local businesses
Obviously their donuts are amazing, but the quality of the espresso pleasantly surprised me; I wasnt expecting much from a donut shop, but the espresso was some of the best Ive had in LA.
Fresh donuts and such a friendly staff! Was lucky to grab the last Eggs Bennie -- worth a try. Even the simpler Butter and Salt was great. There was a line but it was quick or you can order online.
Used to be great… I won’t go back. Donut felt like it had been warmed up in a microwave. The host was on her phone, did not pay attention to what I ordered. Took forever to get my donut and latte. What a shame
Finally tried their basil eggs benedict doughnut...it was delicious!
Lemon Poppyseed was amazing and fluffy and amazing and fluffy. And sugar. So good. The Huckleberry also so good. Old-school donut with sweet berry glaze. So happy I decided to walk into here.
Best donuts in Santa Monica (hands down). Expect a line and the donuts are pricey, yet worth it. I love the old fashion cake donut and just original glaze, but there are a wide variety available.
All I have to say is maple bacon.!!! athe other donuts were good too. We got there just in time to get donut still warm freshly made. 2nd time visiting I will be back with more friends and family.
Good donuts but. Crazy loud in the morning can’t order with dumb loud music and masks. Pretty hmm juvenile.Service is confusing and inadequate.Good donuts. Get them and leave fast. Awful environment
Sidecar has legendary status for a reason: It earned it. Their doughnuts may not be the most traditional items but thats okay because they are phenomenal. The selection is curated and delicious. The staff is absurdly friendly and helpful. The service is quick. The establishment is well laid out, clean, and to the point. Its a classy modern take on the donut shop and it works. The presentation in the way they box your doughnuts is like getting a bespoke piece of art. If youre near Sidecar dont miss out: GO GET A DOUGHNUT. WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS? One of the best donuts Ive tried! So far huckleberry and strawberry buttermilk are my favorites. Personally not a fan of their coffee but its loved by many. Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff! Always look forward to my visits there!
Fresh, warm & gooey doughnuts! We waited in a crazy line for what seemed like too long for doughnuts. Once we were handed our box of unique flavors of these freshly baked goods I could feel the warmth through the box and I immediately realized the reason for the line. I split a salted butter donut with a family member and let me just say it was divine! Vanilla bean cake with a buttery glaze, it was drool worthy.
Youre kidding, right?! Only THE BEST doughnuts on earth!!
Some of the best doughnuts in LA. They are crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the inside. They have a perfect balance of sweet so they are not too heavy or overwhelming. We always come here when we need a nice treat. My personal favorite is the butter and salt, but I have tried alot of their flavors and can say that you really cant go wrong.
I got 6 donuts for 22$. Would I go back, most likely not because the donuts were mediocre. The reason I tried it in the first place was because recently I found it made the list for the number 2 best donuts joint in OC. The toppings were good and flavor was there, however, the dough was too thick and not fluffy. It’s consistency is closer to a loaf of bread or bagel, rather than a donut. They really followed the covid19 policy. Masks were strictly enforced and they let one party in at a time. Place was nice and clean. Customer service was good, but donuts were lacking.
The donuts were amazing! They make their donuts in small batches so its always fresh. If you like blueberries, the huckleberry is a must try. Their glaze is also very good and the maple bacon was bomb! A little pricey for donuts but the quality and flavor make up for it. Tried their Black Onyx mocha and it was okay. Tasted more like chocolate with a hint of coffee than vice versa. I would come back to try other flavors.
Elevated flavors. Great customer service. Fresh donuts. Unique. Pricey. Sidecar is one of those places you have to try and decide for yourself which flavor is your favorite. Decadent for sure but you deserve it. Treat yourself - youll be glad you did. Eggs Benedict Doughnut is one of a kind and that swamp of butter surrounding the egg is unreal.
The best doughnuts Ive had in my life right here! They make the doughnuts in small batches with really quality ingredients and that translates to super fresh and amazing tasting doughnuts. I highly recommend the maple bacon doughnut and their basil eggs benedict. The coffee is good as well.A note about covid procedures: they have extended patio seating onto the street and because the inside space is small, they request that you wait outside until called upon by a team member, as to limit the number of people inside at a time.
Hands down the best doughnuts you will ever have. The Huckleberry is definitely a must-have every time I visit.
What a selection of delicious donuts. You cant go wrong with any of their flavors.
Amazing donuts! I got the huckleberry, old fashioned, maple bacon, and chocolate. Super fresh.
Donuts look better than they taste. Coffee was bad. The only donut worth having was the brown butter salty one.
The best donuts!!! As a Gluten Free person it’s so nice to see gluten friendly options :) I’m a big fan!!
Perhaps the best donut ever. Come early before 1130am for the savory Benedict donut. Dont miss the coffee either.
We came here twice during an extended stay, and the donuts were excellent both times. We got a variety of donuts (old fashioned, vanilla bean, maple bacon, berry, and lemon), and all were good. They seem to primarily sell cake donuts, but there were other styles available that we didnt get. I would generally put these among other good fancy donut places like Portlands Blue Star Donuts. The place is very popular, though, so I would recommend going early on a weekday if possible; there was a line around the block by ~8 AM on a Sunday (also Valentines Day), even during the pandemic.
Doughnuts are fluffy and very sweet. Wouldnt say theyre worth the price, but theyre pretty good.
Not sure who the guy was directing the line and helping with pick up orders at the Santa Monica location. He has longish brown hair if that helps hope he gets company kudos for this somehow but he was working on 2/28/21 that Sunday morning and he really was very energetic and polite to everyone while still managing to make the line moving quite quickly with his team that day. He even brought our lemon donuts out to us because they were still making them. Always impressed with the quality of both the donuts and coffee as well as the customer service. I always come expecting a line because sidecar is that good but I really appreciate how efficient and kind the staff are. Thank you 2/28/21 Sunday team :)
The doughnuts may seem a little expensive on the surface but they are definitely worth it. It is a good thing they are 35 miles away from me or I would probably be there every couple of days. It was worth that drive too. There will definitely be more trips in the future.
Awesome donuts, even better than the pictures. A little expensive but worth it for a quality treat
The best donuts Ive had so far, hands down.We biked here, thinking that well share a donut. But as soon as we saw the donuts on display, we knew that one wasnt gonna do.Got one of the huckleberry donuts (which is their top seller), one choc-a-lot, and one rosemary lemon drop (which is seasonal). All were great - huckleberry was the best. It felt like eating a cake almost - the dough was kinda moist. We like basically gulped all of them down in no time.Got a cup of their cold brew too. Slightly pricey, but definitely worth it if you like good coffee.Would be recommending to all my friends who are visiting LA.
Picking up a postmates order, was told 7-8 minutes for order to be ready. Waited 20min then decided to find out what’s going on, turns out the donuts would be ready in 2 more minutes. At that point I’ve already lost the delivery next door from Mendocino farms. I understand the donuts are made “small batch” but time is money for us drivers and we can’t just sit around like ducks waiting for the order to be ready. Told the gentleman I’d just cancel and go about my day, the donuts are really good from the place but wait times really suck 😩
Maple bacon is the best! Bacon is real and crispy!! Waiting to order was 30 minutes and waiting to pick up was 15 minutesRight after we received the order, we opened the box for Instagram story! Then we realized that our Maple Bacon was not in the box instead we got MapleRight away we notified the mistake and got the baconWe were lucky that we opened the box at the location otherwise we will be very disappointed when we get home!We were just finished our balloon install with @simplywildparty in Beverly Hills which was only 7 minutes to Sidecar!!We were happy to get our donuts and coffee for breakfast!!!
I had seen this place on social media somewhere and had added to my foodie bucket list. So when I had some time to kill in Santa Monica I decided to cross it off. I got 3 different doughnuts: Maple Bacon, Coffee cake and Old fashion. All 3 where amazing, they werent the light fluffy doughnuts you get from Krispy Kreme but these were hefty cake like doughnuts. They were pricey but you get what you paid for. Not something I would go out of my way to get again but its worth trying at least once.
So... my issue here isnt the taste of the donuts or the coffee. Those are both phenomenal as Im sure you read in other reviews. My issue here is that I have had their doughnuts 4x.... 3 via delivery and one in person. For the delivery, they are 3 for 3 in leaving items out. First time they missed a smores donut, second time they missed my cocoa, and third time (after reconciling the issues with the first two during an in person visit) they forgot a malasada donut. Im tired of them owing me stuff! Cant you guys like... double check tickets??? Any place that didnt have phenomenal doughnuts Id have ditched by now!Oh and also the only time I went in person, one of the employees was rocking it sans mask which worried me a bit.Guys, these are minor issues that can be easily fixed... can we remedy this?
Wow..!! Im a well-travelled donut enthusiast, and this is one of the top 3 best donut shops Ive ever been to! They make fresh batches constantly, so youll never get a donut thats more than an hour old and not still warm. The texture of their cake donuts is absolute perfection, with a subtle crunch outside and a really soft interior. They have creative flavors that change by the month, but some amazing flavors like Huckleberry stick around. These donuts are well-balanced by not being overly sweet; some have savory components that mix well. If I lived in Santa Monica, Id gain 10 pounds every month. You need to try Sidecar Doughnuts!!
Great vibe...first time on a Friday...I find out they have one of my favorites Apple Fritter only on Friday!!! Dont miss out!!!
Cannot possibly emphasise to you how good these doughnuts are. I came about 2 hours before closing and they were still making fresh hot batches, as I think they make batches throughout the day so customers get the freshest possible doughnuts. Had Maple Bacon, Fluffernutter, and Cookies and Cream. The Fluffernutter was fresh and it was an out of body experience, quite frankly. Warm peanut butter and jam oozing out as you bite into it, with the most perfect brioche doughnut? I thought I was in heaven. I bought a box of 3, walked out, and thought better, and went back to buy another 3 to take home with me. The best doughnuts Ive ever eaten in my life. Thank you so much. Absolutely lovely staff too.
Staff was really rude. He wasnt taking my order correctly, As soon as I corrected him, He looked so mad and talked to me in aggressive rude manner. felt so humiliated. Donuts are nothing special and overpriced.
You know what would make DTLA more awesome?1. having a Sidecar2. having a Trader Joes (why USC Village?!?!)3. having an In-N-Out (people dgaf about a drive-thru)4. having a Gjelina (ready to cheat on Bestia anytime)5. having a Sephora (anyone else VIB Rouge?)Yes, Sidecar is on top of that list, because Sidecar made me believe in doughnuts. I used to only eat them when people brought them to the office (your homegirl never turns down free food). And then I took a bite into a super fresh, fluffy, delightfully aromatic, and perfectly flavored coconut flan doughnut. Suddenly fireworks went off in my head and my mouth experienced the most intense foodgasm ever. I think I almost cried. This is what dreams are made of!To replicate such profound sensations, get the following:Huckleberry (cake, signature)Country Eggs and Ham (yeast, mornings only)Chocolate Budino (yeast, seasonal)Passion Fruit Pavlova (yeast, seasonal)Salted Malted Cookie Dough (cake, seasonal)Come on, lets make DTLA great again
The regular and GF donuts were both really good. They did mix up one of the donuts in our order, which was only an issue because we didnt notice until we got time and then werent sure if the accidental donut was gluten free. Well still be back, though!
Half of the flavors rotate each month. Currently on July 2017, they have the Thai iced tea flavor which is a must. Dense and topped with whipped cream, the flavor is on point!Get here early, lines usually start forming from 830am. Perfect for those coming out from st. Monica (walk straight towards Wilshire from the min entrance)
Amazing doughnuts and really friendly staff! There was a bit of a line but it was well worth the wait - highly recommend the butter and salt and the old fashion doughnuts, especially when theyre still warm out of the oven!
Love all donuts there, a bit expensive but absolutely worth it. Blueberry donut my top choice. They close too early Sundays. Best donut in LA!
My son always use to get Doughnuts from here when ever he goes to SoCal.This time I visited this lace and got bunch of boxes for friends and family. All of them liked it.
Maybe overhyped but certainly not over-rated: Great doughnuts in crazy flavors and awesome coffee. Tip: They go well together. :-)
Excellent donuts. Not a huge selection. Kinda pricey (3 dollars a donut). But very very good. Long line (because its good) but it moves pretty fast.
