I placed an online order and then changed my mind about what I wanted. They responded immediately even though they are extremely busy because of covid. They offered a very generous solution and we’re kind and helpful. Shipping was super fast. Definitely would buy again online as I don’t live in CA

This shop is fantastic. I have been taking sewing classes with Ivy, and almost immediately after starting Fashion Sewing 1A I signed up for the next rounds, 1B and 1C. Everyone in the shop is so knowledgeable and helpful, and Ivy is a wealth of knowledge and experience. I highly recommend the classes, suitable for total beginners. The shop is chock full of quirky, beautiful, fabrics, with a mixture of well loved brands such as cotton+steel, and gorgeous but lesser known brands. A healthy selection of Japanese fabrics, a small book shop, and a lovely collection of batiks. I am SEW happy I found this place.

This store is wonderfullll inside and out!! ... and Julie, who owns the shop, is a wonderful person inside and out =) ... Amazing customer service, and an outstanding selection of the most beautiful quilting cottons in all of Los Angeles ... But dont forget the thread!! I think theyre the only local place that carries Mettler thread (the best) ... Even if youre just learning to sew, youll want to stop in here and get GREAT thread, which makes all the difference in the world for success in your projects!!

This is the best sewing and fabric store Ive ever been to. They have a wide selection of machines and in-house service for machines. They have a variety of classes and great teachers. Wide selection of fabric and notions. Staff is friendly. They taught me how to quilt, sew with stretch fabric (I made my own yoga pants!), make a bag with leather accents. They also have classes for kids. Whats not to love? Highly recommended.

My experience was Terrible! At the last minute, in the final class, the instructor Ivy tells me that everything I had created was backwards. How can someone who has been sewing for 10+ years (since she was a child she says) not see that their student has been doing everything wrong for 4 weeks straight? I was the ONLY black person in the class & the ONLY one who walked out with unfinished pants. Everyone left excited to wear their pants and I had to walk out with No pants and No refund. It was a waist of time and money.

I love this place, I learned most of my sewing skills from Russell. I have taken many classes, purchased my first sewing machine and serger from Yolanda, and get my sewing machine serviced here. Sewing Arts Center is a definite jewel in Santa Monica.

Very knowledgeable staff, friendly, a bit if a small selection, but good prices (I caught a floor sale)! They even gave me a free class to get me started with my new sewing machine I bought from them!

I came in to ask about long arm machine in the center and options to donate my mom’s APQS long arm machine who recently died from ALS and was an award winning quilter and got a cold, self-righteous “go to eBay” - what a way to support sewing arts in the community:(
