This office has amazing customer service. Doctor Morier did a very thorough eye exam. The opticians helped me pick out some frames and applied my insurance to help cover the bill. Overall, great experience. To add on to that, I accidentally damaged one pair of my glasses and the staff was able to set me up to get a new lens for free in just a few minutes since it was in warranty. I don’t live near this location anymore but will still travel extra to go back there in the future.
5 stars all the way. Dr. Morier is fantastic, personable and such a genuine care provider. I went in for a routine eye exam and he detected a retinal tear through he use of his new machines. Had he of not detected this, I could have experienced a retinal tear and lost my vision at 27 years old. He immediately helped me to get into a specialist...I didnt even need to lift a finger, just show up and everything was taken care of. Seamless experience!! Not to mention, my annual check-up are always thorough and the team there is very helpful and pleasant.
Had an appointment to buy glasses. Not sure what has changed, Ive done business there in the past. Last exam was less than 3yrs ago. So prescription is fine, I just needed to buy a new pair of glasses. The film of the transition lenses were failing on mine. You would think it would be easy just to walk in and get a new pair? Forget it! Played 20 questions with the old guy behind the counter, do i have a prescription? do i even have insurance? you should get an exam .My advice, dont waste your time. Old guy was rude, obviously didnt want to sell me glasses without the upsell. Ill bring mine & my familys business elsewhere.

Staff was super friendly, courteous and professional. For someone who has anxiety I felt really comfortable here and they answered all the questions I had. They are COVID compliant with cleaning. The doctor was very professional and knowledgeable and didn’t charge me unnecessarily for things I didn’t need when came to terms of my eyewear or procedures done. 10/10 would recommend again.
My wife and I have been going to Empire Visionworks for approximately 10 years and we decided to make the change to Consumer Optical on Altamont Ave in Rotterdam this year because we heard very good things. However, upon our arrival to Consumer Optical, the front desk receptionists were extremely rude and irritable. After seeing the doctors, who were very nice and did a fine job, we again had to deal with the receptionists who made our experience awful.To start, one receptionist entered my wifes information completely wrong and even though she was just handed the prescription from the doctor, she could not find any of my wifes information in the computer system after her exam. She argued with my wife that she would have to get her old prescription information in order to place an order for her, even though my wife had just completed an exam and had a new prescription in hand. We were then told that they were too busy to accept our copay payment, even though there was only 3 other people in the store. They then condescendingly explained that trial contacts were not on hand at the store and would have to be ordered, which seemed odd because weve always left an eye appointment with trial contacts in our eyes.After waiting 3 days and not hearing anything back, we called and found out that our trial contacts were never ordered. A week later we received a call that the trial contacts were in and when we went to pick them up we were then told that we needed to pay $45 each for a NYS fee. When I questioned this fee I was told that New York State requires it so the doctors get paid. I have been going to eye doctors for contacts for over 20 years and never before had to pay this fee.At this point we are going to return to Empire Visionworks to order our contacts and glasses from. I would not recommend Consumer Optical to anyone
I cant imagine better service. All my questions answered. No rushing. Nothing but my eye health on the agenda. Worth driving most of an hour to get there from home. Dr. Morier is the perfect role model for trainees.
A wonderful experience at Consumer Optical, the staff was friendly and very helpful. I had the pleasure of having my eyes examined by Dr. Morier. I can honestly say this is the finest appointment I have ever had. Dr. Morier took the time to explain clearly and simply the ins and outs of my concerns. His personable and professional demeanor made my anxiety disappear. I would highly recommend Dr. Morier and the staff at Consumer Optical. I will never go anywhere else for my eye care.
I have been going to Dr. Morier for years, and wouldn’t trust my eyes to anyone else. He is genuine, honest, and the most thorough provider out there. Even though it’s now a trip for me (since he now only practices in Rotterdam), I gladly make it, and would travel pretty much anywhere to continue with Dr. Morier.His staff is also very friendly and professional. In these particularly challenging times of COVID 19, and as a nurse, I also appreciated the extra steps they took to maintain safety when I arrived for my appointment on 3/3/21.Thank you to all for the great customer service! Since making my husband and my appointment for exams last week we got text messages reminding us several times, love it. We were greeted promptly and courteously. Everyone was great. My husband had a basic exam and I opted for the retina exam as well. I hadnt been to Consumer Optical in 28 years but again service hadnt changed. Im very satisfied and waiting on my new glasses. I definitely recommend going here.
Dr. McClure was wonderful and, thanks to the retina photo for which I paid extra, a problem was discovered and required specialized follow-up. I ordered glasses and sunglasses.I highly recommend you obtain a copy of your order. I did not get one and significant confusion with the payment ensued. I left a deposit with my order, as expected. Upon picking up my order i paid as requested. All I had was my credit card receipt. When I got home I got a call saying I owed a significant amount. I had no frame of reference, since i had no original copy of my order. I was told You didnt ask for one! ??? Additionally a math mistake was discovered.Heres the bottom line: 5 star eye exam, 5 star glasses, 1 star front desk.
Reception is not good. Tell me my appointment is at a certain time and then I get a text the day of the appointment saying its at a different time. Better attention to detail would help when youre dealing with customers on a tight schedule. Super inconvenient. Have had to reschedule multiple times because of this. All just for a contact lens check. Doctors however are accurate and polite. Good doctors. Need better receptionist. Same problem with a lot of businesses. Ordering my contacts then probably not going back.
Seriously good customer service!Staff is gracious and generous. Their selection of frames is by far one of the best in the Capital Region. The doctors are great to deal with and deliver a quality exam.Always a laugh or two whenever I stop in. Everyone knows my name and I dig that. They really get to know you in order to help you.
The experience at Consumer Optical was very satisfying. All the folks who work there are kind and friendly. They go out of their way to accommodate. Help with frame styles, unlike other optical joints who leave it totally up to you to find frames that fit well. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get glasses. Some of the optical stores have too much stock and the styles are all the same. The stock is fine here and there isnt a total replication of other frames in the store. I would recommend Consumer Optical, for sure.

Overall customer service is wonderful. You can tell that the doctor really cares and I have never had one bad experience. One of my tests was not covered due to insurance, but they immediately referred me to another doctor who takes my insurance. Which is extremely thoughtful. The overall atmosphere was positive and fun. I always recommend this place to my peers.
Best eye doctor experience I’ve ever had! Super friendly staff, thorough and approachable doctors. I even got my glasses the same day as my exam. No complaints at all, just wish that I had come sooner!
Some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. The staff was professional, friendly, and efficient. While the office was quick and effective, I also felt like I got the required personalized patient time that many offices do not give. I would definitely come back here again!
Incredible service and people. Very professional and knowledgeable. Fast service. My work HMO health plan says I have to use another optical group. I have and they are way below this Consumer Opticals standards for service and quality. I pay the extra just to go to Consumer Optical. Highly recommended.

I took my family there because my insurance was excepted there an i was paying far to much at those large chain stores. Everyone there is friendly and professional, I saw Dr Morrisey and he went through the whole exam process quickly and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Turns out my prescription was not really updated too accurately from a previous but recent exam and I felt much better leaving knowing that I am finally on the way to ditching the contact lens brand that had irritated my eyes for years. He also explained some helpful tips to keep my eyes from straining such as an appropriate distance for reading or adjusting your focus from (ex) the computer if youre on it too much, like I am. 😊 Wish I had switched to Consumer Optical much sooner than this!

$700 for one pair of eye glasses and a 3 month supply of contact lenses. I will NEVER go there again.
My grandson bought his glasses elsewhere but when the nose pads broke today I brought him here. They fixed them quickly and with a smile at no charge...the employee was very helpful...I highly recommend this place..

New to the area and havent had an eye exam in 6 years. The staff here are absolutely amazing! The doctor that saw me, Dr.Bianchi was very kind, quick, efficient, and took time to explain in details what she was doing and seeing every step of my exam. My exam was all inclusive with glaucoma test and dilation all in the same day.The staff at the front desk/ glasses station were above and beyond fantastic. Daniel O. helped me with my selection. He was extrememly personable, kind, and has an amazing personality. It made the atmosphere very comfortable and inviting. He was very informative of what my insurance covered and was able to help me every step of the way even making conversation with my boyfried while I was selecting frames. He completed my glasses in record time so I only had to grab a quick lunch and come back to pick them up under an hour (my lenses were in stock). The staff even made sure I had sunglasses before I left into the bright snow, which I didnt even think about!Absolutely highly recommend!!Service is top notch and prices are reasonable even without insurance.
Brother got new glasses from here so I set an appointment which I missed but they still got me a rescheduled appointment an hour later and took great care of me
