I absolutely LOVE coming here! My most recent experience was in February for my routine eye exam and some new eyeglasses. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The eye exam went smoothly and I had a blast picking out new eyeglass frames with Christina. Theres a good variety of eyeglass frames to choose from with an easygoing atmosphere every time I come here. I would definitely recommend this location, for sure!

Went here for years and now I am done!!!! This place has went down hill greatly. Had to wait months for a eye exam apparently because they didn’t even have a real eye doctor. Then we go to the appointment and they won’t send grams out because apparently they break the frames or loose and only replace them with $60 frames. Was going to get new frames to save the trouble and the selection is terrible now. Went to go to a different eye glass place and vision works won’t release the insurance authorization!!! Complete joke I don’t give them much longer of being in business

Ive been here twice. First time was great. Everyone was helpful. They had a different manager then. Today their office manager was all too happy and quick to hand me mu prescription and tell me to take it elsewhere. This place has gone way down.

I called to make an appointment for my son. The appointments are made through an automated system I wasn’t able to talk to a person. My appointment was yesterday at 2 PM. I showed up with my son and I was told that my sons appointment had to be canceled, upon my arrival. I was told it had to be canceled because someone already had an appointment the same day and the same time and their appointment was made in June. I was very frustrated. Our appointment should’ve been honored is not our fault that the appointments were overbooked.

I really enjoy going here for my eyeglasses needs and such but the new automated phone system is a complete headache. just trying to see if my glasses are ready and the automated voice can’t even spell my name right and keeps adding numbers to my name. please fix this.

Tried for weeks to get an appointment. Call and the auto message says book online. There were no available appointments online. I called 4 times 4 different days and was on hold for over 30 minutes each time no one ever picks up. I even pressed the number for emergency eye issue, no one picked up. I tried online chat and they said someone from store would call me. No one ever called its been two weeks. I have booked as a new patient at a new place that answered their phone right away!

My wife and I were clients of this Visionworks for many years... last year in November they didn’t have any slots available for balance of the year for our annual eye exam. After many calls etc, we gave up. I switched eye doctors completely. They obviously didn’t want my business. My wife just skipped her annual eye appointment last year and decided to try to get an appointment for just her for Nov/Dec 2020...guess what? Again absolutely no available appointments... I guess they don’t need any paying customers... my advice? Look elsewhere....————So the owner just responded below that they appreciate my review... no action to rectify the situation... I just showed this to my wife and she is now calling other non-Visionworks ... this confirms to me that they do not want any business... good-bye Visionworks, we tried

Just wanted to note to all who dont know and need assistance through their insurance with getting an appointment and lenses that this is no longer the location for Empire Visionworks and is instead Americasbest who does NOT accept Medicaid. To those people, Gayne Optical on Union Street does accept Medicaid.

They dont answer calls for hours being on the line and can t refill the contact prescription.I was able to refill the contacts on 11/14 after making appointment and visiting the branch in this COVID restricted time and the rep was very helpful and she told me I get call once the contacts available within 14 days.Waited almost 28 days for the call and visited the branch on 12/11 and they told me it is already here but they dont why no one called.

I am giving Visionworks one star because you cannot get a hold of them. They don’t answer their phone. You go to the store for a simple adjustment they say you need an appointment. You go online you can’t get an appointment for well over a week. My glasses are a week old and I’m already missing a screw but I can’t get an appointment for two weeks. Lucky for me I have a second pair of glasses from Dinopoli’s opticians. I won’t be buying glasses from them again.

Worst customer service, at this Niskayuna location. And, now, this is the 4th time ive called to cancel my eye appointment. Always on hold. This time Ive been holding for 17+ minutes. Tried the Live Chat option, no one ever responded. Schenectady Crosstown location, had their act together. That location would always answer phone, even when busy, you say they were aware if m.j y call. Imgoing you go get my prescription, and have new glasses filled elsewhere. All the good reviews, were when they had the Crosstown Plaza location, take note. PROBLEM SOLVED- I got a very courteous response from Consumer Optical, all set to get new glasses there!!!

Ive been on hold for 1:10 minutes trying to get through to this office. I was left a message by someone that talked really fast saying there were no appointments on the day that I had scheduled. When I called and talked to a corporate office after I pushed 2 to inquire about my appointment, the woman said the appointment was still on. What is the confusion. I get the Covid restrictions but on hold for going on 1:15 minutes. That is unacceptable!!

This business is extremely unprofessional when it comes to answering the phones, I’ve called multiple times before to see where my contacts were because it had been 3 months since I ordered trials to finalize my prescription! So happened that the order was never placed in the first place, luckily I went in to find that out . However, I mentioned to an associate that I’ve called many times & nobody ever picks up they replied with “yes, we’re aware” like the fact you’re acknowledging the unprofessional behavior at this business is unacceptable!! I had to reorder my trials & I made an appointment to see the doctor to finalize the prescription, I had an emergency come up & I needed to cancel my appointment yet again not a single person answer & I called everyday for a week! I even called the 1800 number & I didn’t even get an answer there either ! At this point, I might as well just find another eye facility to get my glasses & exams from because it’s outrageous the way this business is being run, might I add, only one of these stores across my town actually accept my insurance which to me is honestly odd on it’s own because I have to drive 30min just for anything eye related ! This business deserves one star for all the things I mentioned above, I’ve never had issues with this business in the past & I can sympathize with covid it makes things a bit more difficult however by now they should’ve had things set in order to keep business running the way it was prior !

Terrible customer service, manager, Katherine rude, discourteous, unprofessional and absolutely refused to help correct the problem. Computer appointment form doesnt have option for eye exam and getting glasses. No one answers the phone. After waiting a month for an appt. Im told I didnt sign up for eye exam, only getting glasses and to make another appointment in April. I asked the manager to view the Internet appt form so I could show her the problem with the form. Manager refused to view the Internet form and didn’t try to help or try to understand the situation. Manager Insisted I filled out the form incorrectly. Katherine, the manager would not give me her business card, would not give me her last name, nor would she look at the computer to view the error on the form. I requested that she at least contact VisionWorks and ask them to correct the form to prevent others from having this problem. Manager would not do that. When asked for a number for customer service, the manager gave me a phone number for customer service that was a retail store in Texas and not customer service. Avoid this store, go to another Visions Works. Worst customer service Ive seen ever.

I’ve had my glasses now for a few months and have been unable to get them adjusted. This is the second time this has happened!! I will not go back to any vision works again!! I needed a pair of glasses tightened& the Lady employee did efficient work. I walked in w/o an appt. And was welcomed in, first she took my temperature& I used the hand sanitizer provided. Then showed me which desk seat to wait for a few mins.Also note, I didnt get her name but the date was Thursday, afternoon, around 3pm...Dec. 10. Please acknowledge her professionalism. Thank you.

Total waste of time and money. How do you trust a business without a working phone system? even nationally to their headquarters. They might tell you its recent, but it has been going on for months. Youll be told use a fax to communicate (thats so 1990s) but you wont be provided a fax number. Anyways, two month wait for an appointment, picked up glasses today and they are the WORST LENSES I HAVE EVER HAD. BLURRY VISION AND THE ASSOCIATE DID NOT GIVE A DAMN AT ALL TO CORRECT IT NOR OFFER ANY REPLACEMENT. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE BEING TREATED PROPERLY.

I was on hold for over an hour on two separate occasions just to speak to someone. After 38 minutes on hold on one occasions, I was placed on hold again as they contacted an associate of the store. After another 20 minutes on hold, I was disconnected...and of course, I didnt get a call back. The website is useless as it states that, for instance, to get your prescription, you need to contact the local store. And of course, no one answers at the local store, so we are back to square one. So, at this point, I just want my prescription so that I can go to another provider. I have been dealing with this office for years with great results; when did it get so bad?

This is worst place ever, since the merge. Worst customer service ever. They never answer the phones so you have to get into your car and drive there to asks questions and to see if your glasses or contacts are in because they dont even call you either anymore, and when you do finally get to store you have to deal with attitudes from workers behind counter. How can you run any business with this kind of customer service. I have been using formally known as empire vision for years,but unfortunately with this kind of service my family and I will be taking our business elsewhere.

Not happy with their service and its a nightmare to get in contact with them! Its been almost 6 months since I went in for an exam and to order glasses & contacts! I still dont have my 3 month supply of contacts! You also cant get in touch with this store and neither can your insurance company! (Update: I am told this is a brand-wide issue the company is trying to fix.)I went into the store since I couldnt get in touch with them. The manager couldnt tell me what was taking so long for my contacts as the system said they were ordered and there wasnt a delayed status or anything. He promised me he would call me back in a week or two personally but its been over a month and still nothing.Im currently working with corporate to switch my order to a different location as Im fed up with all of this taking so ridiculously long! I understand COVID has made things difficult but this is outrageous!

Absolutely impossible to get ahold of anyone. Phone calls are never answered. Been waiting for contacts for 6-8 weeks now. I guess Ill have to drive to the store again to see if they are in. I understand that staffing is down and sympathize with the people working being overloaded but this is a poor way to conduct business. Long story short. They will never pick up the phone when you call, you will be on hold for hours or until you had enough waiting. You have to wait 2 or 3 months for an appointment no matter what the reason. Their customer service is the worst. It’s not just this location, It’s every single one of them. So if I were you I would take my business some place else, somewhere where they actually care about their customers.

The worst thing Visionworks in Niskayuna could have done was merge with Watt Street visionworks. My family left there for a reason. Now my daughters glass script in her glasses were wrong so they had to send them back. 4 weeks later she still doesnt have glasses and 3 weeks later my son still does not have his. You cant call because no one ever answers as you are sent to a call center not directly to the store. I cant wait to finally get my kids glasses so we can move to a different place. This is very unfortunate for the Niskayuna branch as they used to do a great job.

I have had my best vision experience ever at this particular establishment. Deb S. Went above and beyond to get me the best and most affordable prices on frames that weren’t even displayed or advertised. I appreciate her so much and I didn’t even ask for all her help, she literally did everything for me out of the hardworking kindness of her spirit. I saved more than $350 on designer frames and paid only a little over $150 out of pocket. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Deb S. to everyone. Thank you so much.

Went there was only 5 mins late because they moved, was told they would be right with me,another person came in and I was sitting there waiting for 10 minutes already and asked her if she had an appointment with them, I had mention Ive been waiting here before her and no one has seen me yet, one of the workers that were there had a really stink attitude and ask me what time my appointment was, she told me well, youre late and the doctor went out for lunch already, sat there for 20 minutes was told of the doctor would not be able to see me because she has other patients to see and how I had to reschedule for next month.... Will no longer be going there because it takes to long to get in and if youre a min late youll have to reschedule again for another month and the workers have poor attitudes and are not professional.Goodbye.

It was SUPER easy to make an appointment for my wife! On a whim we went in, and Devon helped us on the spot. He checked the insurance, told us co-pays, what was covered, and prices. It was nice to know what to expect. Just as quickly we booked the appointment for the next day, didnt have to wait a week!Once the exam was complete, Debra was super kind and helped my wife understand the differences between the lenses we were incquiring about. She took her time explaining, and confirmed everything before placing the order. She was very informative and knew what she was talking about.Checking out was super easy thanks to Devon and Debra! I recommend this location to anyone. The staff is super nice and you will be helped.

Same as the other poor reviews, and nothing has changed. They will not answer the phones, requiring you to physically travel to the store for anything. Was trying to contact the store to follow up before visiting, regarding their error in incorrectly preparing my ordered glasses. This in turn required them to send the glasses out to correct the lens prep error, and add a week to return. Upon calling to see if the glasses had come back, was in their call loop/constant hold for more than 30 minutes. Besides this review, will give my union benefits reps feedback so they might look into contracting with a better vision provider. Times are tough during the pandemic, especially for businesses, but to sacrifice service and staffing (including closing branches) most likely to protect profits for shareholders all adds up to losses due to lost customers (= revenue). When will they ever learn.

I made calls to the Niskayuna store and was in a phone loop for a total1 hour 45 minutes listening to the phone recording and never spoke to a human. I then called corporate at 3:30 est and the recording said corporate closes at 6 pm cst and I should call back tomorrow. Very frustrating and poor customer service regionally and at corporate. All I wanted to know was were my 2 pairs of glasses ready.

Stopped in tonight to see if they could do a repair. No other customers were there and they took me right in. They fixed one pair and informed me the other was under warranty. They had the frames right there and just put my lenses in the new frames. She made both pairs fit perfectly. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Never got the name of the woman who helped me but it is really appreciated.

I had a great time! The doctors were very helpful and kind and the staff at the front desk was very helpful as well. The only flaw in my opinion is that the selection of kids glasses is very limited and all the girls glasses are bright pinks and purples and the boys all blue. But one of the people at the front desk did make it clear that kids could pick (girl or boy) from either selection of glasses. Would recommend!

Ive been to many places to get glasses and contacts, and Im always amazed at how cumbersome the customer experience is. With that being said, Vision Works is clearly the exception to the rule. From start to finish I felt as though my time was valued, the staff was knowledgeable and they worked efficiently to fulfill my needs. They also spent at least 45 minutes allowing me to try on just about every pair in the store until we found the perfect fit. Buying glasses is annoying, thanks for making it awesome!

Extremely helpful and gave me honest feedback. I used to wear bifocals and was miserable. The Optician talked to me about progressive lenses so I gave them a try. After wearing them for a bit they are incredible, I will never look back at bifocals now. I highly recommend this Visionworks.

I havent had to wear glasses in 20 years, so I was real rusty with the whole process and went straight from my doctors office to the Niskayuna location. I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole process simple and easy. They let me know what my insurance covered for frames, I selected a set easily, and about 35 minutes later my glasses were on order. I found the staff to be pretty friendly, actually, especially Debra, who set up my lenses and figured out and explained my insurance benefits. She gave me options, which I greatly appreciated and did not sell me on anything one way or another. I was given attention and treated with respect for my single, very basic, insurance-provided glasses, and I appreciated that as well. Im wearing my glasses now, less than a week later! While I may return for a quick adjustment -which they readily encourage- I am very pleased with my experience from start to finish.

Went to my appointment and was told I did not have an appointment with the doctor even though I received a confirmation email. Now I have to wait for 2.5 months for an appointment. Both the doctor, in my case Dr. Lee, was thorough, compassionate, and patient, and the tech was a great conversationalist who made me feel valued. Great experience all around.

Horrible. Dr changed my script and I got headaches. Went back for changes and was encouraged to tough it out. Then later told I waited too long and they’d charge me all over again for eye exam. Save your health. Go to a practice that cares and is knowledgeable.

Niskayuna customer service is lacking. Have been trying to contact the store for 2 days, and no one answers, even when selecting emergency eye care. Day of appointment they were overbooked and inattentive. Disappointed.

Ive made multiple visits there. Havent used the optometrists but filled a glasses prescription for my little one here and the front office staff were great with him. Hes squashed the frames a few times requiring return visits and adjustments and they have been courteous and quick every time. Returning for a back up pair shortly :)
