They couldnt have been more helpful. Nancy spent time answering my questions, helping me get the best deal possible, and guiding me through the insurance reimbursement process. Will definitely be going back!!
We had an amazing experience here. My 13 year old daughter had previously been to a different optician in the area and felt rushed when having her eye exam. Which one is more clear, one.... Or two she felt she didnt answer the questions properly and spent a year with an incorrect prescription. After this specific location was recommended to us, has to be Glenville not any other one, and definitely not the Amsterdam location, we figured we would drive the 40 minutes and check it out. The staff was pleasant from the appointment setter, to the general manager who did my eye exam and tests. The assistant gave my 3 year old snacks, Im sure they were her own personal snacks ❤️, and played hide and seek with him while he not so patiently waited for his sister and I to have our eyes examined and pick new frames. We will be returning to this store and 100 percent recommend it to anyone who is looking for excellent customer service and patience.
I had an EXCELLENT experience at Empire Visionworks in Glenville. The office was clean, complaint with covid-19 reduction measures, and took care of me very quickly. Leroy worked with me through my eye exam. He has great customer service skills and a nice sense of humor. The entire process was virtual, which I thought was amazing - super easy, quick, and seamless! Totally loved it & highly recommend! After my eye exam I worked with Nancy to pick out a pair of frames. She was really helpful in helping me choose a pair that suited me, and I am so appreciative for her help. Cant wait to get my new glasses... thanks Leroy & Nancy and the virtual team who helped me out! You guys rock! This was honestly the best eye appointment Ive ever had!
Wow from the time I walked into the place to exiting...great welcoming, such hi tech imaging since my last visit in Schenectady...I got a coupon to the Glenville store not that I needed with my insurance...way different experience with virtual Drs but I gotta say the most friendliest optometrists Ive ever spoke with....made a dredadable experience to one of the best in this year...highly recommend.I also want to commend Renee...nothing like doing double duty while waiting for relief so you can take a break...you go girl!!! I also want to thank the Drs on screen who helped me....and told my friend about the models with different ethnicity and disability in the pictures above eyeglasses... thats so impressive...thank u
Rudest phone staff ever! Didnt even finish my sentence and she had fired off a sour, grumpy, short answer that was not what I was asking. Get another job if youre THAT unhappy doing it and let it not be one that you interact with customers. I will add that I did really like the (female) Optometrist I had the last appointment at this location - just the staff on the floor, I have seen to be unprofessional amongst themselves and with customers.
Absolutely horrible experience. From never receiving my trial contacts, rude customer service (including the optometrist who did my exam) to pickup of my glasses that broke exactly one week later. Will never return here.
I made an appointment at the Glenville location many months ago and was looking forward to having my eyes examined. From the moment I walked in I could feel the low energy. I was early for the appointment because I wanted to have time to browse the display of frames. I was not greeted properly when I walked in. The associate, Renee, was very very unprofessional and rude. After sitting there for only about 2 minutes completing my paperwork the doctor came out and try to rush me to complete my paperwork so that he could examine me. I thought that was very unusual for a doctor to do and it made me feel very uncomfortable and rushed. After I completed doing the paperwork the associate gave it to the doctor and then proceeded to ask me questions that I answered on the paperwork. When I told her that all that information was in the paperwork she got annoyed and displayed a very bad attitude. At this point I felt as though this was not the right place for me and I left without having my eyes examined. When leaving the associate, Renee, was yelling at the door have a nice day very sarcastically and gesturing me to get out of the store. I highly recommend that you do not go to this location ...you will experience nothing but the worse . I also recommend that RENEE is TERMINATED because she is incompetent and not a good fit for the corporation. I will never visit your office again because of this unfortunate experience. it doesnt surprise me that your review summary is 2.4.
We scheduled an appointment for our 1.5 year old, unsure if they took children so young. The website didnt specify, so I tried calling to be sure. The phone rang for 10 minutes and I hung up after nobody answered. The hold recording mentioned using their online chat instead, so I did and got an automatic response letting me know someone would contact me within 48 hours. I got a phone call from their call center then letting me know that they forwarded my information to the store in question, and that someone from said store would call me back within 24 hours. That never happened. I filled out his paperwork ahead of time, so twice they were given the information of his age. When we show up, she is confused about me bringing my son in, and says they dont see children under 8 years old. I told her everything I had done to try and find that out, and she just tells me that the system sometimes forwards incorrect information and that she DID see that he was 17 months, but assumed it was wrong instead of calling to confirm it. Im very upset by the lack of communication on their part, no matter how many times I tried getting it.

Scheduled appointment weeks ago. Was sent several appointment confirmations, including hours before appointment. I showed up and was treated extremely rudely and told my appointment should have been rescheduled that they couldnt see me today. Again no apology and very rude like this was my mistake. So rude in fact the other customer there felt awkward. I was told all nasty no appointments for at least a month. Terrible customer service, almost impossible to make an appointment, cant get a hold of anyone on the phone, and nasty rude people working here. Great job at failing people in a pandemic. This business will not make it like this.
I work for a doctors office and I was appalled at the way this office ran. The lady who took my daughter and I back, it was clear she hated her job very unprofessional. I paid over $800 at time of service and called later to ask why my insurance wasn’t applied, the gentleman I spoke to on the phone stated I must not of gave it at the time I told him I specifically asked the lady who snapped at me that they had it in There from last year. He said he could not resubmit to my insurance because I didn’t give them the correct insurance at the time of service. Then I waited three weeks for my contact lens to come in so I stopped in to see if they were ready, I had to deal with the same unpleasant lady who huffed and puffed that they got a lot of inventory in and she had to go look for them. I will never be going back.
My husbands appt was canceled by the virtual assistant because he was not home when they called to confirm his appt for the next day. I called back within the specified time but the appt was already canceled. I was not a happy camper when I spoke with Renee. She gave me an appt for Wednesday at 2; however, it is virtual. Not sure what that is. My husband waited for several weeks for an appt, then they cancel it. Very poor system.
If I could put no star, I would! I specifically talked to live person to make an apt and when I came to the apt I was told it was for the different time. Receptionist says they don’t double book but I have a vm that confirmed that they have double book a time. I took time off to get to the my apt. This is completely ridiculous😤😤😤
New patient and customer. Exam and purchase of contacts took 45 minutes. Dr was professional and polite. Location was clean. I can also see better now.

Wish we could give a minus 16 stars . We had an appointment today and walked out. From the moment we checked in things went bad. We went to pick out glasses and they never told us any glasses that you touch and don’t want to put in a bin ! I had to ask! So did other customers put touched glasses back on the rack. We had to wait for the staff (Clinton ) to come to his desk to help us order the glasses we wanted . He started in on saying the insurance won’t pay . After a cateract surgery the insurance does pay . Then he had to ask a dr in the back for the insurance code and that dr didn’t know. Then he wouldn’t honor the sale price on the frame if we were going thro insurance . He left us for a long time to wait on someone else that came after us . Then when he got back to us without any answers about insurance. When we asked if he had a similar frame with a little bigger lens he just said no didn’t try to find something that might work. The fact that they don’t want you to use insurance, not following covid guidelines if we hadn’t of asked we would of been touching frames and putting them back are reasons enough that this Grenville branch should not be open .
I dealt with 3 individuals 2 were short, rude andunprofessional.I will be looking elsewhere for eye care.
Halfway through the eye exam, the one doctor told us that our insurance wasn’t accepted in that building only, however it would work in any other VisionWorks. How this is possible is beyond me, since this is a chain company. He then asked us to pay out of pocket. The main doctor who does the exams called us in, and while we were trying to figure out our insurance issue, he said, “Well hurry up I need to leave”, in an extremely rude manner. We ended up leaving with no eye exam, glasses and a waste of thirty minutes. The doctors were rude and the staff were ignorant. Do not go here.

+5 stars for the great staff and store itself-16 stars for the optometrist. I’m not sure of his name but he had a horrible attitude from the second he called me into his office, was rushing, clearly did not care about me as a patient and probably just wanted to get through as many patients as possible. I said I wasn’t sure if I wanted a certain procedure done (because I’m not familiar with the procedure and wanted him to explain what it was) and he turned to me with an annoyed look and said “so is that a yes or a no?”.I have not a single positive thing to say about him and I hope that he finds happiness in his life or in another occupation. Other than that, every other staff member I came in contact with was friendly and personable.
Been going for years. Staff friendly, tho new Dr and is pretty good. Only gripe I have is when as a patient calling, ur staff needs to answer their calls. Went thru same issue w store in saratoga. Staff never picks up the phone and u can b on phone for long period of time. Please pick up ur phones or lose a patient. Poor customer service
Fast service, manager was very nice to us got the lenses swapped to new frames in almost no time at all.
Unfortunately I used to go here for glasses and contacts with my 5 kids, but that last three experiences were terrible. Initially attributed the first bad experience to a bad day, but it only worsened from there. They charged me for a contact exam and said they would order them- two months later -nothing and they said they had to order them still. When they arrived they did not fit correctly, and when I informed the provider Gutmaker his response was rude and demeaning. As a provider myself, I cannot recommend this place to patients or friends.
The staff is so very friendly! I had a hard time picking out frames and everyone stepped in and gave their opinions! They were so helpful and made me feel comfortable! I would go here again!

I took my daughter there 2 months ago, after waiting for her contacts to be delivered for 2 weeks I called they said “they have been delivered, do you want the tracking number?” I said “they have not and I don’t want a tracking number I want the contacts.” They said “I can give you the tracking number you can call” then I said “where were they delivered” they gave me an address we have not lived at for 13 years. They said “do you know who lives there?” I laughed and said “no!” Contacts finally came. Then, my Husband went a month ago and he checked the address but guess what!?? Contacts not here and delivered to the wrong address and replacements haven’t come yet. Grrrrrr. How do I get in touch with Management for Vision Works not Glenville management because that isn’t helping.
Please do NOT get your eyes examined here. (Glenville, NY location) I was charged for a dilation procedure on their Optos machine. Andrew Gutmaker, the supposed physician could not read the film properly and clearly did not know how to operate it. He could not interpret areas on the film...put me in a stressful position right before traveling and flying, not knowing whether I had a serious issue with my retinas or not and he clearly did not care. The real opthamologist I went to knew exactly what the areas were immediately and said Gutmaker clearly should have known. He is rude and curt and makes you feel like you are wasting his time - he has no bedside manner of any kind. My son had the same test - he never got charged and then they said they had no record of his results from this test on file?? They clearly do no know what they are doing and lack training on the equipment they have. Refunding all charges does not fix this issue when you are still incompetent and cant be trusted because other customers are at the same risk. Your eyes and you deserve better.
The most thorough exam I’ve ever had! Very efficient professional staff. The store was short staffed but everyone worked together to make my visit a pleasant one.
This location is horrible and should be closed due to lack of customer service they are very unprofessional want there for an appointment just to be told they canceled it with out calling me then going on to tell me they didnt take my coverage anymore at that site which is not true why are they still sn option if they dont want to help people
Staff has stopped answering the phone! I can hear the click when they send you to the national call center has happened every time I called in the last 6 months. I have to walk in to get any service. I dont understand how the company thinks it is okay to ignore all of its calls.

This was the worst experience i HAVE EVER had at this place! Spent $90 on only a sample pair of contact lenses! called a week later to see if they were in! Was told that the manufacturer upgraded to a new software and they didnt know if my order transferred into the new system. If you are looking for contacts go to Americas Best spend that $90 to go into the eye care club and get discounted contacts for 3 years!
Had a rare brand of sunglasses that needed an odd size screw for the lenses... quick, easy, free fix. Excellent.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, the optometrist was very thorough with my exam that included having me come back for an additional exam to rule out a possible issue with my eye health.
My new glasses are great and the staff and especially manager Bronwyn were so helpful. The reason for 4 stars is they dont call to let you know your glasses are in, you have to guess when they might arrive in a 10 day window. They serm to have plenty of staff and should be able to give a call that your gkasses are ready.
I will never use this location again. eye exam was fine, but front desk staff are terrible with bad attitudes and no customer service skills. I did not receive notification of my glasses being available and no one seems to care about the customer!!!
If i could give a negative star thats what I would choose, these people cant even setup an appointment right... go to the one in SCHENECTADY instead, this place is the worst
I’ve had recent blurry vision issues with my eyes & needed eyeglasses so I contacted VisionWorks & picked out a new set of eyeglasses. Due to my diabetes that caused my vision challenges, I spoke with Krystin & asked if it was possible to pick them up as quickly as possible to give my eyes a rest from contacts & she said she would see if she could have them ready that day. No more than an hour later, she let me know they were already set to be picked up. Wow!I went right to the store & It was busy . Bronwyn greeted me & while balancing taking care of another customer at the same time, pulled out my glasses to have me try them on. She then balanced them & I was on my way in no time. I just want to thank both Krystin & Bronwyn for their great customer focus, quick turn around & treating me in such a kind & efficient manner. I actually have questioned if retail understands customer service anymore and today I have a new perspective that it’s alive & well.Thank you VisionWorks for Having such a great employees to take care of customers!
Made the switch to visionworks about 3 years ago and have not been disappointed. Dr. Erlich has gotten my vision (which is AWEFUL!) better than its been in a long time. The contacts are very comfortable and like I said I CAN SEE!!! Also brought my husband and children in for exams and glasses. My daughter (7 but been in glasses since she was 4) in particular has needed various adjustments or even replacements and they always take care of everything in a timely manner. Bronwyn is very helpful and knowledgeable, able to answer any questions that arise. She is pleasant to speak with as are the rest of the staff that I have interacted with. I highly reccomend Glenville visionworks to anyone looking for quality vision care, a good selection of frames, and friendly intelligent staff.

I just called to make an appt,and the guy who answered was sooo unbelievably rude. Hes like your gonna have to hold,i got other people on the phone,and people in line. This place has always been an overall bad experience for me!
Still here these folks are extremely slow, the manager cant type to save her life so Im waiting thirty minutes for her to type an order in. The staff is young and not very helpful from what I can see to patrons, oh well forget this Im getting laser surgery instead. I cant deal with this yearly or every other.
