So worth the hour drive from my house to be able to see and try pens in person. Helpful but no pressure staff make it nice to experiment and Im always happy with what I leave with!
A few weeks ago, my ceramic shaving mug cracked. I took the opportunity to order a nice, Turkish copper one, online. While waiting for it to arrive, I also decided to have an old shaving brush (which originally came with the mug) restored. Its a nice ceramic handle that just needed new bristles. I remembered Anthony, the owner of Penchetta, makes shaving brushes. The brush I was currently using came from Penchetta, and was made by Anthony. Its a simple, acrylic handled brush, fitted with badger hair. Its an excellent shaving brush, and I love it.I emailed Anthony to see if hed be willing to restore my other brush. His response was, as long as I removed the old brush knot, hed be happy to set a new one in the handle for $10.00 plus shipping. Thought nothing of it at the time, but I should have. One of the things my father taught me was crafting things by hand, and the appreciation of such.Upon arrival at Penchetta, Anthony asked me, What were you thinkin, silvertip? My response was, Yeah, I think so. Once he sized the handle properly, he said it was going to cost me $38.00 and hed have it in a few days. I said, Ok.Now, to a lot of you, that price jump may seem a bit much. Admittedly, I experienced about 10 seconds of sticker shock, but then I gave it a few additional seconds of thought. The initial estimate he gave me, was most likely for a lesser grade of brush; probably made with synthetic bristles. Silvertip, is not only natural badger hair, but its also only 2 notches below top grade badger hair. Still considered premium. So, the price is right where it should be.Lastly, I remembered the craftsmanship thing. Im not only paying for the brush, but Im also paying for his care and craftsmanship in restoring my brush. Even if all hes doing, is setting a new brush knot. Considering these things, I said nothing further. Very much looking forward to my restored shaving brush. The beauty of the situation is this: While silvertip is considered premium, he didnt try to sell me the very top of the line badger hair. However, he didnt sell me low grade synthetic, either.A few days later, Anthony most certainly didnt disappoint. My shaving brush is beautiful, and I happily paid him. Timing was perfect, as I arrived home to find my bowl had arrived in the mail. Today, I used them both for the first time. The brush, in combination with the hammered texture inside the bowl made a very fine lather that spread beautifully on the face. Thank you, very, very much, Anthony. Im a very happy customer. If any of you are remotely familiar with Penchetta, then you know he sells very fine blades of all types, and equally fine writing instruments. Now, you also know, that he MAKES his own shaving brushes. If you need anything of that nature, head over there and talk to Anthony. Hes very friendly, knowledgeable, and hes a very fine craftsman wholl sell you quality without draining your pocket.
I found a hard to find item they had online and they they promptly shipped it to me. Spoke to them very nice people.
This store is fantastic and the staff is amazing. I’ve shopped here often over the years, and have always received consistently helpful service and quality products. Thanks, Penchetta!
Came here for the very rare all black spyderco autonomy 2, they held one for me that was never even opened or touched. Beautiful knife and awesome knife store. Strongly recommend
Great collection of pens, shaving equipment and other very cool products.
Massive knife and pen collection with a lot of fun bonuses in between. I bought my first high-quality roller ball, along with a wood knife I can put together with my kids to teach them how to use a pocket knife and self defense. Amazing selection and Anthony knows his business and is very helpful and patient. Ill be back for sure. Super cool store.
10 stars if I could! Absolutely one of the coolest stores in north Scottsdale. They have an exceptional line up of knives that are extremely hard to find. I didn’t even have a chance to look thru the pens and other items as I was so enthralled with the selection of microtech knives it was so hard to take my eyes off them! The spyderco kitchen knives were also something I’d never seen that I should have picked up! You must stop in here if not to buy just to check it out!
Penchetta offers an impressively wide selection of pens and knives and other tantalizing items including high quality and fountain pen-friendly paper, bottled inks, and pen/pencil refills and accessories, combined with great customer service AND competitive pricing (even compared to the valley’s web-based seller of fine writing, Pen Chalet). The store is divided between knives and fine writing and their stock on hand represents most of the quality brands available in the U.S. and I’d guess that their fountain pen selection is the best retail selection in Arizona. The fountain pens range in price from $20 to a $1,000+, but the majority are in the $50 to $350 range and include brands like Conklin, Faber Castell, Graf con Faber, Kaweco, Lamy, Montegrappa, Pelican, Pilot, Pneider, Retro 54, Sailor, and Visconti, and I believe that they are authorized retailers for all of these brands.Their knife selection also includes the biggies like Benchmade, Microtech, Spyderco, ZT, and smaller knife makers like Chris Reeve and William Henry, all featuring high quality materials and finishes. The owner, Tony has been in the store during all of my roughly half dozen visits over the past year. He’s available and willing to answer questions but also allows his customers the uninterrupted space and time to leisurely browse the store.
Extremely rude store employee.
If you like knives youre going to be thrilled with this place. They have a good selection of just about every knife you would want. Very friendly and courteous. Fair prices. Wish I would have gone here long ago. Its an hour drive for me, but Ill definitely go back for my sharp instrument needs.
This shop is awsome and five star for the products and customer service. Knives. Bb guns, razor shaving stuff, torches, pens and all top notch. I was having my mictotech knife serviced and ended up browsing for 40 minutes. I learned a few 1 about some real interesting items. Dont you really want a subject matter expert or Professor Know It All when shopping for specialty items? I know I do. Check your ego at the door, gentlemen, and enjoy this 5 star shop.
Best knife store in the state and amazing pen selection they even have air guns and other manly products
Best gift shop!! Especially if you are looking for a gift for a special guy in your life. Pens, watches, knives, kitchen cutlery, air guns, writing accessories, amazing inventory! Thanks guys for all your help! My husbands going to love his Valentines gift!!
Large selection of many types of quality knives and hand writing pens. For gifts or for the gentleman professional. Knives can be sharpened here also for a small fee of 5 dollars
Large selection and great customer service, they have products for any budget.
The knife and pen collections here are massive. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
One of the finest selections of knives, pens, and every day carry essentials! I feel as if it would be an understatement to say amazing customer service as I was treated less like a customer and more as a fellow enthusiast! The time that was taken to assist me with all of my questions and the knowledge that was shared is very much so appreciated.I am thrilled to have found such great people and look forward to many future visits!
Great place!! Tons of products and a knowledgeable staff that really appreciates the customer. Ive bought over ten knives there as well as a number of their other products. I cant say enough good about this store to do it justice.
Great selection of good quality knives and fair pricing. Kind and knowledgeable staff. I wish there were more stores like this, since I don’t really live close to here.
Went in for a ZT Zero Tolerance knife for Father’s Day and the gentleman there was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He spent time talking about the difference between them & why my husband might prefer one over another based on what he already has. I also purchased a fountain pain that doesn’t leak and it clicks on & off. My husband LOVES BOTH!!!
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Good selection of air rifles. I wish their prices were more competitive but I guess expenses are a bit more in Scottsdale.
I bought a very nice Pilot pen here, a fountain pen for $22. The owner was helpful and a good source of pen information and also local history.
Every visit is productive and informative. The prices are competitive and the owner is very patient and awesome to speak to. I strongly recommend this place for all your fountain pen needs.
Simply incredible! Penchetta is the ultimate gentlemans store. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have the largest selection of Knives, Pens, and Wet shaving Ive ever seen. You definitely need to check this store out.
Spent a good amount of time in here just looking at all of their awesome pens. They had a great selection. The guy working, I blanked on asking his name, was super nice and seemed excited to talk about fountain pens.If you at all love fountain pens, check this place out!
Best place for pens (all types), mechanical pencils, mens shaving supplies, pocket knives, professional air guns, etc.
We just love this store! I love pens and knives and found beads for our survival bracelets in here, so happy! We will be back for knife sharpening and more knives, pens, and etc!
Such a nice place to buy pen.
Fantastic selection and very helpful, friendly sales folks. Had a blast nerding out with fellow knife geeks and browsing their wide variety of styles and brands. Prices were also great and I found a sweet little Lion Steel Opera I had to pickup. Wish I lived closer as Id visit regularly, such a fun shop to explore. Highly recommended for any knife, pen, or EDC enthusiasts.
Great shop, great people and holy Cow what a selection of knives, high end airguns and pens. Anthony is very knowledgeable about everything in the store.Bought a beautiful Wm. Henry for my wife.
Great service and answered all my questions about the knife I was looking at. Great supply of not just knives, pens, but also for men looking for some of the old school shaving supplies. Neat place for finding that special unique gift.
Fantastic store. I had no idea this shop was here until Scottsdale Pen closed. When I found it on Google, I knew I had to go.Staff was great. I was treated like I was buying Mont Blanc when I was actually buying a bottle of cheap ink and a cheap pen.The kit pens one of the staff makes are beautiful. I would have picked one up if I hadn’t blown my budget for the month on other pen stuff I had been eyeing for a while.Great selection of knives as well. I have never been in a store with such a vast collection.I’ll definitely be coming back here in the future and letting everyone who will listen know how great this store is. Definitely worth stopping by.
I went to Penchetta while I was on vacation in Scottsdale during Spring break. They have a great selection on hand, I was surprised that they had some discontinued knives. It was great to handle the knives instead of just look at them online. They also had a lot of pens, but I didnt really look. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ended up getting a ZT 0808 which I probably wouldnt have gotten if I didnt go to the store. We will hopefully visit again next Spring break.
This is a wonderful knife store. Such an amazing selection of great knives. Folders to full tang Damascus steel. CRKT, Boker, Case, etc. They also have a great selection of pens, but thats not my thing. Great customer service with a smile.
Awesome store and the owner is actually friendly! Thanks for the UTX-85!
Really great place to buy a nice gift for yourself or someone else. The selection of quality knives is limitless! Their writing tools are beautiful, too.
Get 5 free stars as never been here. But tell Google maps that
Amazing selection of pens, knifes, and shaving equipment. This place also has some extremely nice, high end air rifles and handguns...pigeons beware! :)
I had a poor experience here. Went in looking for a knife with a partly serrated edge. I wanted something around $80-$100. They didnt have anything in that price range so I settled on a $40 knife that seemed pretty decent in-store. Got home and found the average price for it is less than half what I paid. This was pretty disappointing because theres a pretty large difference in quality between a $20 knife and a $40 knife. I get that they have to make a profit but double the price is a little much. It also makes it so you cant reliably search by quality based on price.
Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I had a great experience there. I’ll be back next time I’m in town. Recommended.
The best knife store in the state. They have the best selection and the best customer service. They treat everyone with respect
Very impressive selection of knives that were all high quality. The staff knew there stuff.
This is a first class shop for sure. The selection is outstanding, and the prices are reasonable. Anthony and Fed are extremely knowledgable and friendly. Careful, though... its hard to wlk out of there without buying something!
This is truly a shop for mens gifts.
Great couple of guys, great selection (the best that Ive seen in Phoenix). Only issues I have are their prices are definitely inflated and dont budge on prices for older knives.
Great selection, friendly service, my favorite store!
I just purchased 3 knifes from here and it was an overall great experience. the prices were lower than the manufacturer and the service was great.
Very knowledgeable, great store. Love the employees.
So this is a very contextual review. To set the scene I was 18 when I went in here, alone. When I went in there I was looking to get Sailor Jentle inks and a Pelikan m series. I do not look like the type of person that is willing to drop 300 dollars on a pen, but I am. When I went in there I was treated like I was just there to try and steal a nice pen, which I am not. I cannot fault the guy for thinking an 18 year old is just there to try and slip a fancy pen in his back pocket. In the end I just got some Jentle ink and got a pen from online. 3.5/5 experience. Ill probably never go back. But others may have a better experience.
Incredibly helpful, friendly staff. Best products by quality on the market and gorgeous to boot.
Great pen selection and assortment of inks. They also carry a variety of knives including Esse.
Excellent selection of knives and great customer service! Highly recommend!
Great place for pens. Staff was very helpful.
Rude, just plain poor service. I was the only one in the store and I had to initiate all conversation. Even afterwards I wasnt offered to be shown anything. Just repeatedly ignored. Prices were higher than average too. Ill take my business elsewhere.
Great selection and service.
Purchased a TWSBI Classic that leaked at the grip. They switched it out on the second trip without issue. Pen works great.Purchased an LUDT MicroT. Couldnt be happier.
Great selection of pens and knives
Best Cutlery experience a person could ever have.
Best pen shop in town!
Very helpful..Just a delightful experience.....
Awesome products, excellent customer service!
Always friendly, even when I have stupid questions and I want to see the ink book 12 times.
My favorite store in Scottsdale
