We are VERY lucky to have this store in town. Very few places sell such unique and special stuff. Being used gear some of these amazing instruments can be attainable now. Plus, you get to play into tube amps and get a really good feel of what youre buying. Great place. Great service, great selection.
Bad experience in having them sell 2 of my bass guitars on consignment. In 4 months it did not sell. I went to pick them up and saw that 1 of the basses had some marks (indentations) and scuff marks on the metal that were not there when I left it with him. The basses were inspected when I left them to make sure they were in pristine condition. I still have my original paperwork and we inspected the basses. There were no indentations or anything noted on my paperwork to indicate that it was not in 100% perfect condition. Went home and placed an add for 1 of them on TALKBASS.COM for the same price and it sold in less than 1 hour. The other bass I have to try and fix from their damage before I sell it on my own. I do not recommend this place!
Super knowledgeable and friendly staff - I cant recommend them highly enough. Theyre easily the best guitar shop in the valley.
Great place, no nonsense atmosphere, nice selection of guitars and amps.
I love this place. Alan is so nice. No pressure great vibe. There are always a plethora of unique and interesting instruments to play.
Without going into the details, Ive recently become a customer for life after what the gracious folks at this shop did for me. Something I dont think too many others would have done these days. It was good old-fashioned customer service at its finest and it really gave me insight into how this business is run.As for the shop itself, you will find a stock of quality guitars/amps/accessories here all at very reasonable prices. There is LOTS of candy here for the guitar nerds and/or serious player, including a big lot of boutique pedals that just came into the shop at the time of this posting. I look forward to coming here just for the pedals alone and it looks like this shop is priming up to be THE place to go in that regard as even more boutique stuff is expected to be available soon. But whether youre a beginner, casual player, or a professional, theres lots to like here. The workshop is also a big bonus as the work done here is top-notch and priced right for the type of turnaround and quality youd want when it comes to getting your gear up to par.Great shop. Great people. Right next to a Fascinations in case you want to get all your most important shopping done at the same time. 5 stars.
As an avid guitar nut, I enjoyed the times Ive gone into this brick & mortar store. Hes got a decent collection of well-inspected used Fenders, Gibsons, Gretches and Guilds, and the inventory turns over pretty well, so the pricing cant be too bad.The owner, Al, is very friendly and always wants you to feel at home. He encourages you to play ANY guitar he has, and can share some fund anecdotal stories with you, too. Its not super quiet, but its much better than what you get, noise-wise, at those Big Box music stores. After negotiating for a while on a good price, I picked up a beautiful, unblemished 2008 Gibson SG (Cherry) to add to my collection. Id go back - and have - to enjoy the quality inventory of Als establishment. Its one of those worthwhile stops on a weekend that I recommend.
Every City/Town needs a feel good guitar store with great people, guitars and a repair shop staffed by a mastercraftsman, In Phoenix/Scottsdale, this is the place. A++
Do not do business here. Youve been warned. Terribly dishonest people.
Top notch staff and gorgeous pre-owned guirars!
A special thanks to Al, Teddy, Sherlin and of course Linda. Great guitars always in stock and the only music store I try to stop in as much as possible. Im not the greatest guitarist on the planet but they treat me like Iam in there every time I come in. Looking forward to my next purchase from this shop. Thanks guys
Great little store, all high quality instruments. Really liked this place, definitely going back.
Everyone was welcoming and extremely helpful. We will definitely be back again.
Simply put, the absolute best shop in town! Guitars sold and built right.
Walked in near closing time, and instead of getting greeted by sour looks of the employees, I was greeted with a warm handshake from the owner, who so kindly gave me an overview of the custom guitars in the shop and even allowed me to tour the workshop where they build their own guitars! Very accommodating people who truly love their trade and customers.I tried a few of their own guitars. They sound great! Very lightweight, versatile. The pickups they use are amazing. I think they use a lot of swamp ash wood for their guitars.
Took my 55 year old Guild F-212 XL 12 string guitar in for a small crack repair and a new set of strings and I left a happy, happy man! Al and Sam the guard dog gave me a tour of the entire store after writing up my needs and a cooler guitar store Ive never seen! They have a very good selection of electric and acoustic guitars and not only offer regular sales but if youve got a guitar for sale, they will take it on consignment to boot.Back to my 12 string.... They performed a small repair on the exterior of the OHSC, added all new strings, and performed the small crack repair for a grand total of roughly $60.00Ill go back in an instant and I hope youll give these guys a shot as well! Thanks for reading.
Great people, solid selection, they were helpful in helping me find what I wanted in a guitar. Only complaint is that it gets kinda noisy with everyone in there at the same time so its hard to hear the guitar Im playing. Other than that, great spot.
Great guitar shop with incredibly unique inventory! Happy to support this small store and their in-house luthier. You will find guitars, amps, and service that major chains simply cannot compare to.
Called to see if they had Baritone acoustic guitars in stock was told we have plenty of them. After driving all the way from Surprise, Az to take a look around I arrived and was greeted then told they had no baritone guitars. This experience was Incredibly unprofessional and I will never purchase from this store. In the future please be honest with potential customers, you missed an opportunity on what could have been a very easy sale.
Great collection of guitars. Fun just to look or sell and buy.
I took my guitar in for a total fret job because I had extreme divots in a few of the frets due to play wear. I had the money set aside and I specifically asked for a total replacement fret job. I was told my guitar had enough life on the frets to do a level and crown so I gave the consent for that and even paid up front in full. A week later I picked up the guitar and brought it home. After just 5 minutes of playing on it in the living room the divots in my frets reappeared. I then pushed the G and B string down against the frets and rubbed it back and forth. Metal shavings started coming off the frets! I called the shop and was told that they filled in my fret divots with soldering wire metal. What!!!!!! Who does that? Soldering wire is soft. Only a beginner working in their Mom’s basement would think that could be a good idea. When I dropped off the guitar I told the repairman that I play six nights a week on this guitar and he fills in my frets with soldering wire???????? I got burned. He told me to bring it back and he’d fix it but why would I do that? He burned me the first time on a paid repair. Why would I allow him to touch my guitar on a free fix? Ive been told he makes some wonderful acoustic guitars but he treated me like I was some 15 year old kid who had a 75.00 guitar. I’ll never refer anyone to this shop for a set-up or a guitar repair.
Good owner at this store. Very low pressure. Felt like he knew who were serious musicians. I will be buying some vintage equipment here for sure.
Really great inventory and incredibly friendly staff. Hard to find a guitar shop like this. I will definitely be coming back
I brought my guitar that I hadnt played in ages due to poor action into the shop to have it adjusted and it was returned in as good condition as when I bought it years ago. Ive had a great time playing it again since then. Thanks!
Got Great deal on a Gibson acoustic salesman was very helpful and kind would buy there again
I have been looking to purchase a Warwick Corvette $$ GPS for some time and I found a beautiful 2015 German built bass on Reverb. Seeing that the Reverb account was local I inquired and managed to negotiate a good price. Alan in the brick and mortar store, Guitar Pickers, was ready for me when I arrived, I tested the guitar and purchased right then and there. A great place with really friendly folks and an in house shop.I would recommend them to anyone!!
Always a delight to look through with some of the most interesting inventory in the Phoenix area. Owner is knowledgable and mellow, always willing to help. RECOMMEND. Sherlin Gerhart, a luthier attached to the facility, also did the best setup I have ever had on an old telecaster of mine. He too is HIGHLY recommended. Although often busy, hes great for guitar geekery chats when time permits. His original guitars are without peer, too. A++++ Will Do Business Again!
Very nice selection of high end guitars and accessories! Great staff as well!
Owner operated with real knowledge. An old time guitar shop. Good people, and a terrific luthier in house also!
Fun relaxed atmosphere to try out many different guitars. Prices seem to be average to above average for used prices but they do have a great selection. Owner is very nice and knowledgeable.
I have nothing but positive things to say about this business. It is a small, privately owned business and a fantastic source for quality, professional grade pre-owned instruments. I have purchased multiple vintage instruments here. They were all reasonably priced and they are now valued pieces in my collection. Al, the owner, is always welcoming and greets his customers with a smile. I am as selective about my instruments as I am about the places I do business, and am proud to do business with Al and Guitar Pickers in Scottsdale.
I usually prefer to support a local shop, so I decided to stop in yesterday and see what this shop had to offer. I took a look at one of the guitars and was interested. It wasn’t long before I interacted with the owner, Al. He asked me if I was in the market for that guitar. I said I was looking around and it had caught my eye. He replied in a very condescending way by saying he didn’t like me just playing his guitar, and that since I wasn’t in the market he basically didn’t think I was actually going to buy it. I had every possibility of buying that guitar but no longer from this shop unfortunately. I definitely recommend shopping elsewhere.
Continuously contacts me to consign my stuff even though I expressly put in my ads that I do not wish to be contacted about it. Its against craigslist policy and highly annoying. Inventory is overpriced too.
I took an old family Dobro to them and they repaired it beautifully. The sound is wonderful and the music brings us great joy.
Interesting collection of guitars in the Scottsdale area. If you are looking for something unique - an excellent stop on your list.
Cool store. Many rare guitars for sale.
I had a great experience here. Very friendly staff, and it has a shop to make their own guitars in it. Really cool place!
I have always had good experiences here. Alan is polite and plainspoken when working deals.Sherlin did a setup and other service for me recently. Great results. Will definitely return for more work.
I have been doing business with Al for several years, multiple deals. I have bought, traded and sold though his shop. Always friendly, always fair. The shop is a small family owned place but you will be surprised what you may find hanging on the wall! I stop by anytime Im in Scottsdale.
Stopped by check out the selection and ask a few questions about luthier service. We had a wonderful experience and left with a gorgeous vintage guitar amp and cabinet. Great service, fantastic price!
This shop has a bunch of great deals and a master luthier. I was visiting from Florida and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. Their selection was great as well! They had everything from vintage to some awesome almost new stuff! Check em out!!
6/16/21. Just left Al at Guitar Pickers. He sold an amp for me. I have always found Al and Linda friendly and willing to help. I have been a customer there for about 8 years. Great sales and service. They will always be my go to place.
I traveled over 500 miles, to be told my perfect Guild Songbird, need a complete set up...it didnt.... it did however require a 40 dollar bridge piece for the G string compensation factor...the guitar had then battery removed for not being played reason, and when his Luther guitar tech installed a 9 volt battery in the rear, there is a plastic cover that had to be removed..when he removed the cover he inadvertently, scraped the finish at the point in front of the cover. I called Al about this, and of course he explained to me this was not the case..then they offered me a very low-end price for my Guild..other two guitars I took in we not acceptable according to the master Luther, and of course AL.....probably wont come back here....dont like the attempt to screw me out of my guitar for nothing....have other friends who have done well here, not the case for me....I refuse to lay down and let some one who knows more then me(perhaps) try to pull wool over my face, on any deals.....
Love this shop!! They always have an interesting, fresh selection with an inviting atmosphere. My favorite guitar shop in Scottsdale hands down!
Great store with good selection of vintage guitars and amps. Check it out!
Contacts me over and over again about consigning my stuff in his shop even though its against craigslist policy. His stuff is overpriced too.
Great service and amazing selection guitars. Awesome in house guitar repair and build shop as well!
Al and his wife are down home people and great to do business with.
Great staff. Great location, great selection, great prices....super experience, second to none.....
Great inventory of high quality used guitars.
Great selection of higher end used guitars and amps. The luthier is the one of the best in town and the only place I go with my guitar work.
Sherlin is amazingly knowledgeable and very great with fixing instruments. Thankful to have used him several times
Wonderful selection of reasonably priced guitars.Have NEVER had anything less than a great experience shopping here, Al and Sherlin have always been very focused on what I wanted, and helping me get it.The first time I went in I candidly said I would not be buying a guitar that day, but had some questions -- Sherlin spent over an hour with me talking about different guitars, and showing me several he was in the process of building. Ever since that day they have greeted me by name when I come in, even though I had not bought a single thing (yet.)Could not recommend this place more sincerely if you want to talk guitars and/or check out a nice selection in a great independent store.
Sales person couldnt be bothered to help me. Dont know what I did to be completely ignored when I was the only person there. The dog was nice.
Great place with great people, very relaxed atmosphere
I went in to look at a Guild and it was in pretty good shape and played well, looked at some of their other guitars and they have some really nice stuff. I went and played a Taylor 200 series Deluxe version I mentioned the Mexican made Taylors he told me it was USA made nope not the 200 series and he insisted it was and that is why it was the deluxe model, he looked it up and realized he got called out for misrepresentation, come on I know he knew better trying to pull shade over. Anyway he told me he would knock a $100 off the Guild, I offered him $800 and he said Im not even going to talk to you walked away and started talking with someone else, if he was interested he would have come back with a counter offer. This shop is way over priced, rude and shady owner. They also spam their guitars all over Craigslist with outrageous prices. Tried to give a local shop a chance and they wont get my business. Ill pay to have a California factory Guild.
Purchased a 1996 ‘MIM Fender Stratocaster’ from Al a year and a half ago. Went to resell the guitar to upgrade and found out that it is actually a Squire body that someone put a Mexican neck on. False advertising. I would advise to stay away.
Constantly contacts me to consign my stuff which is against craigslist policy.
My favorite place to be and my favorite people to be with! Love them like family...
Cool store!
Got ripped off here. Have any guitar purchased from here inspected by someone who knows their stuff. These guys will ripp you off!
Fantastic shop! Purchased a new Gerhart custom guitar and couldnt be happier.
The owner is constantly responding to my Craigslist and offerup ads with a scripted reply: bring in your guitar and I will make you an offer (which is always super low) he also is always asking to consign stuff which is against Craigslist policy. (Do not contact for services.) seems like a cool guy but running a business this way only annoys local musicians and potential customers. He also constantly posts tons of overpriced guitars on Craigslist which is not against policy but is very annoying. Great potential and great guy but bad and annoying way of doing business.
This place is way OVER PRICED. Also, all the SPAM ON CRAIGSLIST is getting kind of ridiculous. The worst part about my multiple experiences at this place is the way Im treated by the owner, Al Lieberman. Hes very cocky and acts like his $%!T doesnt stink. But let me tell you, it sure does. Today he argued with me about a price difference in what the market value of a used Gibson J-45 with a CRACK!Anyway, dont support a business that looks down upon its customers, sells over priced instruments, and treats them terribly. Al, I will never return to your store ever again.
Good prices... many collectors guitars
I would never spend a penny here. Shady business practices, no regard whatsoever for the Craigslist community. Should change the name to house of SPAM. -1 Star
Bad experience with the sales guy, who basically ran all of us off by being rude and condescending. At one point, he told us Look at the s___ on these walls, this isnt Guitar Center. Overprotective of overpriced guitars.
Wow the selection was great.
