Walmart pharmacies are at war with opioid abuse. This is what we were told when trying to fill a prescription for oxycodone 7.5 mg twice a day. IN FACT, WALMART IS AT WAR WITH PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM CHRONIC, DEBILITATING PAIN! Searcy, Arkansas own Dr. Kumer in Searcys pain management clinic wrote this prescription the day we came in. This is a 450 mile round trip drive for us which in itself is not a problem but to run into such difficulty is another thing entirely. First we were told they would only fill 1 weeks worth of pills & we would have to return the following week for the remaining 3 weeks worth. We were told that was Walmarts policy. How can a pharmacy alter a physicians original prescription? Is this Walmart practicing medicine without a license? The pharmacist said it was her prerogative. Maybe, frankly I dont know law about pharmacy practice or law. We complied & returned a week later to be told they would not fill the remainder of the prescription NO MATTER WHAT. They had concerns this patient was abusing opiates. This patient is on no pain meds from any other doctor, shes on no benzodiazepines. Her primary physician referred her to this pain clinic so there would be no issues that would complicate her care. Well, Walmart sure as heck complicated things! Because they did a partial fill on this prescription they couldnt return it to the patient (this I understand). But the patient isnt scheduled for another appointment at the pain clinic for another 3 weeks. WTH?!For those of you interested, this war on opiate abuse has just plain gotten out of hand. In the first place, there are no laws or even regulations concerning the prescribing of opiates like everyone thinks. The CDC & the DEA have made RECOMMENDATIONS only regarding opiate prescriptions. Presently there is a Senate subcommittee investigating this very issue because people suffering from chronic debilitating pain are being denied adequate pain management. What happened to first do no harm? Thousands of people are being harmed because doctors are afraid if they overprescribe they will be investigated. Furthermore, the opiate abuse & overdose the DEA & CDC are concerned about are in fact primarily related to the street opiate trade which the Mid & South American cartels supply in abundance. Sure, youll probably find a handful of doctors who prescribe willy nilly & a handful of patients who abuse what they are prescribed. But TO DENY PAIN RELIEF TO PEOPLE SUFFERING IS UNCONSCIONABLE!
Usually are very efficient and get things done in a timely manner
I hate this Wal-Marts pharmacy. The workers are slow and make decisions about your medication without asking you. My prescription was supposed to be ready by 100 pm. Its now 440 pm, and Im still waiting. This is the last time Im using this pharmacy
Good experience with the maps
Long waits
