Brendan is gifted at his craft, and he is a gift to the craft. Im used to a cool reception in beauty spaces and I may have avoided House of Vartan based on its reputation as hot with the cool girls (thanks to Marie Clare) but he carries a line that Id typically have to mail order, so I decided to pop in for a visit. Im so glad I did. I walked in on a mission and was greeted with so much warmth and joy by Brendan, the owner, that before I even left the store Id followed him on Instagram and was excited to keep in touch.Im comfortable and confident referring ANY of my friends to Brendan (and have and do, regularly now) and am especially excited to have somewhere and someone to refer friends who arent always received warmly by the beauty industry to (including my man-friends and trans- and gender non-binary friends who arent always warmly received in beauty spaces.) Both times Ive visited, Ive felt strongly that that Brendans ability to help create external beauty is supercharged by his ability to see the beauty within in anyone who walks in the door and that is a very, very special gift.HOV is way on the other side of town, but Id rather shop there than the big boxes so its well worth the trip. Im excited to get in for a facial in the new year -- the reputation is premium but his prices are exactly what I would expect for services, so dont let the buzz scare you off.

I met Brendan over 5 years ago when I was planning my wedding. He spent over 2 hours listening to me and giving me ideas and suggestions of products to help me achieve the look I wanted for my big day. I have met with him several times over the years. He is a master of his craft, while always keeping the needs of his clients the up most priority. Every time we part ways I look more beautiful and radiant than when I walked in, both inside and out! !!!!

Heading to House of Vartan this morning for my monthly facial. As a 52 year old who has struggled with bad skin HER WHOLE LIFE I can say without reservation that Brendan Vartan is a wizard. His approach to skin care and his attention to quality products is beyond anything I have ever experienced. Skip the overly-made-up and under-skilled product pushers at Sephora and put your skin care in the hands of a true genius. No one believes that I am my age and it is entirely because of the precision care I receive from Brendan. I would give up many things if I had to, but my monthly facial is not one of them.

What a great experience I had at this store. I needed a new foundation from the brand Vapour and looked online to see if there were stockists closer to me (in the past I have ordered this brand online or bought it at a beauty store/pharmacy in Wallingford). I saw that House of Vartan, about 8 minutes from my house, carried this line and decided to give it a try. Brendan Vartan was so helpful, so knowledgeable, and so pleasant, that any brand he carries that I use, I will buy from him from this point forward.

There are brands that only he carries such as Shu Uemura hair care. A co-worker complemented me on my exceptionally shiny hair since I started to use Shu Uemura. Brandon was my beauty secret. As an aficionado of niche perfume I consider House of Vartan among the triumvirate of Seattle perfume stores. Throw a brick and hit fifteen mall stores, if you must, should you want to smell like a Bieber or Kardashian. But I prefer following my nose to Brendan’s store and his curated collection of perfumes from indie and artisanal companies. Spicy, green, exotic, or floral, Brendan has a fragrance for every taste. The price points are generously affordable within said triumvirate of Seattle perfume stores. Discovering a new scent and falling in love with a signature fragrance is easy, peasy, lemon-squeezy.
