I went in and personally selected my countertops. They were to be installed the next week-over 6 weeks ago. They have given multiple days they were going to install with no show, no calls - those day I stayed home waiting for them. After all their delays and excuses, today AGAIN no call no show. When my contractor finally had his call answered after 6 attempts - yet again they gave an excuse and say they will install on Friday. Why should I believe that now?Horrible customer service!!!Ive been living without a kitchen for over a month. I think I might hate them for what they have done to me and my family.
We ordered both countertops and a fireplace hearth stone from Specialty Building Systems. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about types of stones, and our hearth stone was a remnant piece, so the prices were good. The measuring team suggested we put a bevel on the hearth stone so the height would look good compared to the wood floor. The installation team was on time and very capable. We love the results!
Great company excellent work all in one shopping for your granite needs. Like most I went to all the granite places in the Seattle area and chose Specialty Building Systems because of the excellent help I received. They were the most reasonable in cost and helped me find the best deal for a piece of granite that they did not have. Emily was awesome and answered all my questions and helped me move through the process. They were right on time and on the mark with their measurements and instillation was perfect. I must add the crew was very professional and extremely talented moving and installing an extremely large island counter top from their truck to my kitchen causing no damage to product or house amazing to watch. I highly recommend Specialty building Systems for your granite needs.
Specialty Building Systems just finished my entire house and everything went more than perfect! We purchased our granite almost a year before our total remodel was ready for the granite and they were very patient. When we increased the size of our island and the original slab we purchased was not big enough, they helped me pick out an amazing alternative. We did our entire kitchen, 3 bathrooms, a nook and bar, and a built in master bedroom vanity. The installation went very well and they made sure that everything was perfect. My family was in the granite business so I am aware of quality work and I can attest that the installation and fabrication was no less than perfect! We liked what they did for the house so much that we decided to put in granite in our office and they finished that job just as professionally. Our location is not easy in that we have a narrow entry with a pond in front. One of the workers accidentally fell into the pond but he kept on working far into the night ( I was leaving on a trip and they wanted to get it done before I left), so they went out of their way and finished at midnight. Lionel made sure everything was installed perfectly despite being soaking wet and we later found out he had actually broken his ribs when he went into the pond! Not only was the service at every level great but the price was very fair. I highly recommend this company.
Now that the kids are back to school I can focus on the wet bar remodel. Went to Specialty Building Systems, which was recommended by a friend and even though they were busy their staff member Maria Solis was very helpful and educational in helping me understand the difference in stone and give me options to consider for my little bar. She answered all my questions and didnt seem bothered by it. Definitely coming back soon as my decision is made up. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Cris P. Federal Way
Emily got us out of jam and was awesome to work with. Great service and huge thanks!
After 13 years, I finally have new counter tops. I love this place! I have been to many places looking at slabs and getting prices over the years. This appeared to be a smaller place so I had not stopped before. From the moment I stepped into the stone yard, and was greeted by David and soon after joined by the owner himself, Robert, my experience was wonderful. They had a great selection of granite, marble and quartzite, including some very beautiful and unusual ones. I found one I had never seen before and LOVED it!The prices were great and everything was handled professionally. Each person, Amanda and Maria in the office, Lionel who came to make the templates, and the wonderful installation team lead by Victor, they were all just incredible. The guys who cut and polished the stone and created the edges, just perfectly, I did not get to meet, but they did an awesome job.Attention to detail, professionalism, kind, clean, and the best customer service ever. They really listened to what I wanted and made sure I was happy.I have the counter top of my dreams. I simply cant imagine a better place than Specialty Building Systems. This is the Dream Team!
I was deeply disappointed with the service. I was told my project would take 2 weeks to complete. Weeks turned into months and every time I tried to get more information about when my project would be finished, a variety excuses were offered ( employees dental emergency, broken saws, etc..)Theyd give a new pick up time, and then not contact me to let me know they hadnt begun after all. Eventually they stopped responding to my calls altogether. I was close to canceling my order when my builder went to the business ( Versailles ), and pressed them to do it. Builder said theyd shuffled my project for bigger ones. I was happy with the final piece, but dissatisfied with the integrity of the staff. The project price also changed after the original quote. An employee quoted a new price that was 40% higher, and said they couldnt do the same level of detail that wed agreed on originally unless I agreed to the new price ( on the phone.)I didnt resist this at the time, quotes can be off, but the longer I worked with the employees, the more my trust eroded. A frustrating experience.
We stopped on a whim when we saw the massive quantity of granite slabs outside in their yard. (We had just come from one of their competitors) Robert was very patient and helpful in explaining everything to us. We purchased our granite that afternoon. Lionel came out and did the layout template and was fabulous. He gave us a very interesting education about granite. Next, we met with Victor, the fabricator. He is a true artist and made suggestions on cutting to maximize the beauty of the slab throughout the kitchen. He laid everything out with only 1 seam!! Amanda coordinated everything for us. We hit a snag when they were loading the truck and discovered the sink that we had drop shipped to them had been damaged in transit. We ordered the new sink and they let us know the day it arrived and scheduled our installation for the very next day!! Victor, personally, was in charge of our installation. He paid attention to the smallest detail. Our counter tops are probably some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I would highly recommend this company if you want exceptional quality!
If you need quality assistance, ask for Amanda. She was very knowledgeable about their product! Installers are very precise with their work. My kitchen island looks outstanding. Highly recommend to all!
Their prices are the best and they have a decent selection of slabs but you will regret your decision. They also go by the name Versailles Stones. They dont return calls or emails. Their installers are completely incompetent. I had to remind them to glue my countertop on, then they said their drill didnt work to cut the faucet opening. This was after 3 no show appointments, numerous unanswered phone calls and messages from me and my contractor. I am trying to get a refund on part of my installation and I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Needless to say they have not come back to drill my faucet hole. I promise you, go with someone else. I am convinced the positive reviews are fake; my experience was exactly like the others with negative reviews. I never write reviews for these things, they are just really this terrible.
This was a heartbreaking experience that took 4 months to complete. One counter with a backsplash. Although the workers were each (all but one) quite good, and kind while speaking to them; they hardly ever showed up when they said they would for days/weeks at a time and the receptionist only answered the phone 2 out of 18 times. I had to go down there 6 times to beg them to reschedule when no calls were returned and even when promised; once again; a no show. When they came, they left all torn out stuff for 6 weeks and when finally they did come to finish the job things were done badly. When trying again to fix the mess; they came so late and with granite that the edges had not been polished which took us into towards midnight to finish. Because neighbors complained about the noise it had to be taken inside and they didnt close the kitchen door and dust went throughout the entire house which made it hard to paint the walls later and having to buy special clothes to rub down all walls, cabinets, halls books etc. I still find fine dust everywhere after months later. In all fairness 2 of the weeks I had to ask them to wait for the guy to install a sink, so the 4 months is more like 3 and 1/2 but at least they KNEW they werent coming for those two weeks whereas I had to call them most days to inquire if and when they really would show up. Never a call in return until I was given one fellows cell phone and sometimes he would call but never would the office return a call. It ended on one nice note; we blessed each other as they drove off in the night.
Amazing selection. We could have gone any direction with their inventory but settled on this slab which blended our plan for off white cabinets and bronze pulls. Its like having an aquarium. Staff were very helpful, through templating and final install.
I have had my granite counter installation cancelled 4 times now, the latest being today when Amanda assured me yesterday that the installers would be here by 4pm. I have not been able to get in touch with them today, just getting their voice mail. I left a message but havent received a call back. Their customer service is terrible starting with not being able to get in touch with them and they dont return phone calls as promised. The first time they cancelled, I was notified by email the night before. They didnt even bother to call to make sure I got the message. I missed work that day and took another day off to accommodate a re-scheduled appointment which was also cancelled without a phone call or email from them. I dont know when or if my counters will be installed but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
This is an honest, no nonsense review of SBS.My relationship with SBS began with my wife and I finding stone at one of the local distributors who only sells to fabricators. We had fabricators lined up through our contractor, but due to availability, we chose SBS to purchase the stone on our behalf and we agreed to pay a fair mark-up for their contribution. Initially, we were very impressed with the service we received from Maria, who hopped in our car and went with us to the distributor to look at the stone, and encouraged us to purchase it.Unfortunately, that was the last acceptable service we received. Maria stated she would call us when the stone became available, and that did not happen. The reviews of SBS that claim they do not answer their phone, return voicemails, or respond to emails are accurate. I ended up calling the distributor that the stone was purchased from to learn that the stone had become available. After several days of no communication, it required me to drive to SBS to talk to Maria and discover that they did indeed have my stone. This was early in the relationship and so I gave them the benefit of the doubt... I should not have. The big mistake that I made was to purchase cabinets from SBS. Maria, at that time stated she would call me on Monday (it was Saturday) to confirm the availability of my cabinets. Of course, she didnt. After many, many attempts at calling over 10 days, I got Maria on the phone, who stated that they had my cabinets and they would be ready for me on the following Saturday. On Saturday, I arrived to pick them up, and only the vanity was assembled and it was pretty dinged up and unacceptable in its condition. 2 other cabinets were assembled but damaged, and 2 other cabinets were not there at all. We left frustrated with nothing. We were assured that the problem would be rectified on Monday.Monday came and went and after a dozen phone calls, I got someone on the phone and I stated that I wanted a refund and to cancel the order. It had been three weeks and every other company promised the cabinets in 1-3 days. This prompted Maria to take my phone call. She offered up a slough of excuses, but I did my best to remain calm and friendly but insisted they cancel the order. She stated that she could not cancel the order and I responded that I would simply contest the charges with my credit card company. That was enough for her to promise that my cabinets were ready and that I could pick them up at any time. On Saturday morning, I rented a U-Haul and drove down to Georgetown from Edmonds for the forth and final time to get my cabinets. Halfway there, Robert the owner called me and stated that my cabinets were not ready!I remained calm while I pulled off the freeway in my rented truck and explained how unacceptable this was. I again requested a refund. Robert, a business man offered a discount, to which I explained this wasnt an issue of money, it was an issue of completing a remodel. Robert, then offered a sizable refund along with delivery of the cabinets to my door on Tuesday. I agreed because at that point, I had the word of the owner and I needed my cabinets, plain and simple.Tuesday my cabinets were delivered! But they were missing all their doors and shelves. In addition, I never received any refund. Not $1 for the truck rentals or the 4 Saturdays I spent driving from Edmonds to Georgetown for nothing. In addition, I had to spend another Saturday driving down there to pick up the doors and shelves! Want more? They still failed to give me all the shelves and I still have two cabinets without shelves. More? 2 of the glass shelves I received had broken corners. Still more? 2 of the cabinets for my island were white on the inside, whereas the other 2 are brown. This matters because 2 have glass doors allowing you to see the inside, and 2 are used as open bookshelves. I had to paint the cabinets, which had to be done anyways, because of the shape that I received them in!This was, bar-none, the most ridiculous experience I have ever encountered with any business.
We asked them to provide us 5 slabs for our restaurant renovation (dueminuti Inc.). We were skeptic that this supplier could fulfill the work in the allocated time by reading some of the reviews here and on yelp. Time was crucial and we made it very clear with Maria, she gave her word about respecting the deadline and we agreed on a two weeks delivery. The morning after placing the order they came to take the template. They contacted me after only 10 days to come and set up the counters. Long story short they finished the job in only 11 days, three days ahead than expected. Very professional and helpful. the assembly on the store was a clean and neat job. My general contractor after seeing the work done wanted their contact for future works.
I wanted to write a review because the people from the sales to the installers exceeded my expectations all the way around. We showed up to look at granite slabs, not knowing what we were doing at all, because Specialty Building Systems had a huge inventory right on their lot. We didnt actually find exactly what we were looking for so we were referred to Pental Stone and Marble to pick out a slab which we did. Maria and Emily were very helpful in informing us how to go about the process. We picked out the slab and Emily took it from there. She arranged pick up, We then returned to layout and template. they sent an installer to the house to confirm the application and measurements and it was delivered and installed about a week thereafter. As a should out, Lionell, the primary installer was on site and took care of everything as well as David and Froylan who also did the installation. They were all timely, professional and did actually perfect work.We have a complicated hearth installed, two table tops and a kitchen window sill completed which all turned out perfectly and all out of different stone. I think the best part, was the assistance and advice in how to complete our project.Thank you to the whole team for a great outcome and surprisingly fast. I think from selection of stone to delivery was less than two weeks! We love the finishes and felt the price was excellent. We recommend Specialty Building Systems to all of our friends and will be back for sure.
Very happy with experience from beginning to end. Helpful and patient with granite selection. Very patient with minor changes en route (even after templating although I had to go down and initial changes. Very fair). Most professional installation ever. Sealed, epoxyed and prepared counter for long term good looks. Helped me meet my time deadline and were super flexible. One downside in that templater called in sick day after Thanksgiving, but made it up by getting someone there Monday and reducing expected lead time. Very helpful and friendly along the process. Highly recommend.
We are very happy with the service we received from Specialty Building Services. Our project deadlines shifted meaning we needed a counter installed within a week. Every shop was booked 3-4 weeks out. For a reasonable charge, SBS offered to bring guys in on the weekend to fabricate and from 5pm - 9:30pm to install. Anyone doing a remodel knows that going out of their way to meet deadlines is huge.We ordered the largest slab available (5.5 x 10) for a giant island. The installers were able to wrestle it up a set of stairs and set it in place perfectly. It was over 1000lbs and there wasnt a single scratch or chip. Most companies wouldnt even attempt the feat and would have forced us to seam. There was an unfortunate mistake on edge beveling (understandable), but SBS stepped up and made it right which included buying an entirely new slab and delivering it EARLIER than previously discussed. As stated above, they showed up at 4:30pm and didnt leave until 9:30pm to make sure the project got done, which included calling in a few extra guys for muscle. As for communication, we never had an issue (unlike other reviewers). Maria called us many times to give project updates, got us in touch with the owner Robert when a surprise came up, and both gave great customer service. We had text messages with photos if needed. They also didnt nickel and dime us on a last second small addition. We price shop heavily and their fabrication was in line with the rest of the market. We saw value when that price included the pro delivery skills. The lead installer was also a Picasso mixing the custom seam compound.Wed definitely use them again in the future.
Some scheduling complications, but overall they did a solid job with the install. Very open to working through any problems you have.
I shopped around for countertops for months and Speciality Building Systems was one of the first places I stopped at. Their prices and selection were excellent and I eventually came back after shopping it around town. Lionel, who prepared the template came out to measure and pointed out a few things that he thought would improve the job - which I really appreciated. He and Robert, the owner told me it would be approximately two weeks between the template and installation. It turned out to be one week exactly, which was wonderful because my kitchen had been torn apart for about a month. The installers came out and did an thorough and tidy job of installing the countertop - which is so beautiful. I have one seam, which is about six inches long and is barely noticeable. I couldnt be more pleased. Meanwhile, back at the shop, Maria and Robert answered all my questions, provided me with samples, kept everything on schedule and notified me when the installers were going to be a touch late. I dont think it could have gone any smoother or been any easier. I am so happy with my new countertops!
Dont waste your time. They are very unorganized. They gave our fabricator the wrong remnant slab, turns out they sold our piece to someone else after we already bought it and held it.
Buyer beware of Specialty Building Systems (Versailles Stone), a very PAINFUL experience! A two-week lead time became 2+ months of aggravation, mismatched pieces, and promises never completed. Once they received money, our project quickly turned to very poor service, wrong sizes, quality, missed deadlines, and flat-out lies. My worst construction experience ever!
Stay away. Find a dependable store with dependable installers. Read the yelp reviews. This is just another of the same sorry stories...Im writing this review after multiple contacts and empty promises. My wife and I were debating on returning to Olympia while driving to look at MSIs granite selection. God I wish we had gone with them. Instead, we were drawn in by the oversized GRANITE SALE sign posted by Specialty building. We talked with an energetic salesman named Robert. (I now realize he was not energetic, he is unorganized and probably on the verge of a nervous breakdown) I was impressed that he priced his granite and instal price there on the lot and with a basic sketch of our project. He told us we would need two slabs, had the graciousness to move a slab to show my wife and I the two we would be purchasing. I got caught up in his eagerness to make a sale and boy that was a mistake. We paid out deposit feeling satisfied that we had made a great deal and did not settle. Now fast forward to the the project install two months later...My wife and I have a trusted friend and contractor Jim Williams who has done many quality projects for my self and my family members. He installed our flooring and bottom counters in record time, and we decided, lets get out of the house and visit my wifes family out of town. Within a day, Jim called my wife to tell her the granite installers are a no show because they did not have enough material to complete the job. WHAT?Refer to is buying two slabs above... I was there when the installed came to take measurements and both my wife and I were explicit that we were available if there were any adjustments to make. So, I called Robert in my usual style... 18 times in a row... Yes, this is excessive, but most times I get results. I was NOT SUCCESSFUL after 18 phone calls!!! Yes multiple messages to each line in the store and his personal cell as well. I was not impressed and duly frustrated at this point. However, my wife is a saint. She calmed by outrage and found her new contact, David. I never made contact with him, but according to my lovely spouse, Robert should be running the store.Lets fast forward to three days later...Our granite is installed! Oh how I love my wife, but wait, whats this, the installer knew nothing about the bathroom or the window sill that both Jim, our contractor and myself absolutely told the gentleman who made the initial measurements about?? He was in the bathroom, kitchen and ask many questions I had not thought about. How the hell did they NOT KNOW? Ah my lovely and compassionate wife to the rescue. She called, and called, and called... Finally, we are to have the bathroom installed on Saturday. Today. The day I am writing this review. Can you guess what has happened? I bet you can!.... No installer at 11am. Phone call. Oh, sir! I am so sorry... Blah blah blah... Phone call back! Whoa... I cant believe we had you scheduled for today. We are short staffed and on a condo project. (Now Im pissed) Ah my lovely wife to the rescue...Now shes pissed! David tells her not to worry, he will find out what is going on. Robert calls back and promises the job will be done today after hours! (Wow! Now thats stepping up to fix your mistake!) the installers will be there by six. Here I am at 7:30. Guess what...? Now installed. No follow-up call. No results...All in all, find a place that has decent reviews and dependable installers. If we had it to do over again I would have spent more to get everything done in a timely fashion. This crap has been untenable and frustrating. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Read the yelp reviews. Do not patronize this store. Also, pay via credit card. That way you can contest the charges when ( not if, but when) they do FUBAR!
They are very good workers and professionals
Great service, good quality work
Run - dont walk - the other way.
