I’ve been coming to Shorewood Auto since I first moved to MKE 10 years ago. I’ve had my fair share of bad luck with cars and they’ve always been up front on what things are going to cost and if it’s even worth doing on my (previous hunks of junk) cars.Now that I have a car that’s not a beater Ive had to do fairly moderate maintenance on it. They are reasonable and explain everything that needs to be done and why.We initially thought the entire exhaust had to go, but they salvaged what they could while not compromising on quality or safety.As a 20-something woman, it’s refreshing to have a reliable mechanic that treats me with respect. It’s the only place I’ll trust with my car in Wisconsin.Ive never been steered wrong (pun intended) here.They’re a small shop with a truly remarkable team. Service has stayed consistent, honest and kind.

After having a leak checked on my vehicle I rode my bike to pick it up. After being told there was no cost to me for the repair on the oil leak, I tried to get my bike in my trunk. One of my releases on my back seat failed and the man at the counter spent 30 mins of his time trying to fix it for me so I could take my bike home. He succeeded of course. This place is great!

Apparently they only do emissions tests by appointment, but dont expect to find that information anywhere on their website. And dont expect them to respond to emails about an appointment, which I sent about four months ago and never received a response. Booked over a month out for a short test? Maybe if youre only doing three a day. What a joke.

Keith and crew are efficient talented and thorough. But you pay a bit more for that, and I dont mind.

The manager and his staff are always helpful,professional & honest. Any time Ive been there the manager was very helpful and professional. I once had to stop there for a reading on my dashboard that Id never seen before. He was quick to know the reason. Fixed it promptly. I rate this business with 5 stars.I recommend them and Keith ( the manager)highly.

Keith and his crew are awesome people. Theyre committed to getting to the root of your car/truck issues and theyre very honest. If theres something that needs fixing but can wait, theyll tell you just that. Because things are slow because of the virus going around, they had to keep my truck longer than usual. Keith knew I needed transportation for work so he offered me a loaner vehicle! Now what auto shop you know does that? Great, quality work! I will no longer go to any other shop again!

They obviously have no incentive to do emissions testing. Don’t bother calling for an appointment. Only a few places that do emissions testing around here and can’t get in to conduct one - Bureaucracy at its finest!

Its never easy to get your car fixed, but Shorewood Auto takes the stress out of it. They are kind, patient and explain what their diagnosis is before moving forward with fixing the problem. Their pricing is fair, even for college students. Their work is thurough and reliable and every time something is amiss with my car, I am confident they will do the best they can to get me back on the road safely and as quick as possible. It sounds corny but I truly appreciate everything they have done for me.

Absolutely hands down one of the best shops I’ve ever been to!! I have been going to Shorewood Auto for the past few years for regular maintenance. This past year they have been a life saver for me from helping patch up a hole in my tire, replacing a blown tire and a broken side mirror. I was very pleased with the service I received! I was able to call to make an appointment the next day, and they were very straight with me about what was wrong with my car. I was also pleasantly surprised at their prices. I have recommended this business to coworkers and they all feel the same. I will be taking my car here in the future if it needs any work!

The most expensive mechanic I have ever worked with. Today, I was quoted over $750 for the replacement of 1 upstream air fuel ratio sensor. They seem professional but do not trust them with your car if you value $$$

Amazing service. Everyone is always friendly every time I go in. They explain the issue with my vehicle to me every time and always offer me different options when they can. Very trustworthy!

I brought my car in because it was shaking back and forth at higher speeds and had smoke coming out of the front driver tire. They managed to get me in within two days of calling, and had the problem fixed in a day. They were also able to fix the problem (misaligned tires & lubricate the brakes) for under $100, which is by far the smallest bill Ive ever had on an automobile. I told them about other issues with the car I wasnt worried about, and they were able to quickly pinpoint the issues I was worried about. Highly recommend this auto shop.

Car needed a new starter. They said they could take a look at it on Friday afternoon, then Friday turned into first thing Monday morning, then that turned into Monday afternoon. Once they did finally get a chance to take a look at it they fixed it fairly fast. Overall they were pretty pricey for what needed to be done. I only went there for its convenient location, but in the future Ill be going to places further away for better service.

My car wouldnt start and I had to have it towed there. I didnt know anything about this place, it just was the closest. They looked at it right away, told me the starter needed to be replaced and quoted me a fair price. They fit it in that afternoon and called me at 5:00 and told me it was ready and the bill was what they quoted me. I really appreciate the job they did, the price was right in line with the national average and they got me back on the road for the weekend! Ill be going back there for service again!

The cost was very reasonable and the service was excellent. I was able to get my car repaired and get to all my appointments that same day. I have been coming to Shorewood Auto for a little over a year now. I come from a family of micanics so when I moved to Milwaukee I was a bit nervous about taking my car anywhere else. Keith and his staff have been nothing short of amazing. They are always considerate of your time and restrictions, take great care of your vehicle and always have quality work. They have gone out of their way to help with car issues time and time again, and always give a fair price. I wIll always be a faithful customer to them.

They do good work, but can be a bit pricey. They do offer emissions testing by appointment which is a plus. They are popular and have a small shop so they can get pretty busy so definitely call ahead.

Last time I went there, I told them to look at my breaks and that my car made a tiny noise. The price they told me for my breaks was too much so I took it to a different place and they told me I did not even need new breaks and still had 50-75% left on them. They fixed something thinking it would fix the noise and noise is still there. With my schedule I did not have time to bring it back in for them to look at it further... Felt ripped off.

Fast service, professional, and respectful. Took me right away for my oil change.Will definitely go back.

GREAT SERVICE

Had 3 cars go through.Wifes was simple new brakes. Heard some noises after it was done and they patiently explained how the new brakes essentially settle in.My Chevy Cavaliers exhaust came off. Keith explained the process/options and advised me what was best. Let me store it on the lot a few days to get scrapping sorted.Chevy Aveo timing belt broke. Towed it there Wednesday, Keith had my answer by Thursday. Unfortunately needed to scrap it again but the guys were helpful and understanding. Happily signed the car over to them for services rendered.I plan on having them inspect my next used car and will take it there for all repairs.Shorewood is lucky to have these guys in the community.

A regular DIYer with suspension, hoses, etc my attempted remedies to my check engine light on BMW had me stumped and needing diagnostics. I enjoy doing work on my car, and rarely take it to the shop. I arrived with my engine cowlings disassembled, but drive-able the few blocks to the shop. After sharing with me the initial result of diagnostics neither the mechanic nor I were confident it was the problem. They went right back to work and were persistent in finding the root of the problem via trial-error, test-drive, and diagnostic. The result is a car returned to me in working order. Picking it up tonight after work. Will write more after first drive!

Had my truck aligned got it back after two days and the toe was so far out it burned through my new tire in no time and the camber was all set on one side not split between the two sides you would thing for a $170 dollars you would get a better job done . when i asked about the problem the blamed it on the truck. but still kept all the money for the job

Good place for auto repair

I made an appointment for Wednesday at 4:45 PM for an emissions test, and when I got there the guy looked up my appointment and said “oh well it’s awful late in the day, I’m getting ready to leave here. You should come by in the morning.” Why schedule an appointment if you’re going to turn me away after I drive out of my way to come here? Really bad experience. They say they’re open until 7pm- for what?

This place is run by incompetent morons, they have ZERO respect for their customers and absolutely PISS POOR customer service skills. I advise anyone to go anywhere,and somewhere else.

I read other reviews and brought my car here. Theyre reasonably priced and did a nice job on my brakes.

They did alot of extras for free.

The first time I walked in, they suggested the expensive way, and the inexpensive way. I was instantly hooked. I thought Id found an honest shop. That was the bait, then they switched. They screwed me on several occassions. Checked my squeeling brakes for 80$ three times and said they didnt need brake pads, and somehow talked me out of changing them. Told me they could fix the noise by removing the emergency brake parts. Told me I had to replace my radiator for 900 because it had a small leak. I had to ask them 3 times if there was any other way before they suggested a bottle of leak-fix stuff. Now I fix my own car. I replaced my own break pads for as much as they checked them for, and they dont squeek anymore. While doing so I dug out the emergency brake parts they had left there to continue making rattling noises. And I bought my own bottle of radiator goop. Worked like a charm. Ill never visit these guys again.

You need to make appointment to take an emission test. It doesn’t make sense for the 3-min-long free service. Walk-in emission test is available anywhere else EXCEPT this autoshop.

Always top notch

Over the winter, I got a flat tire as a result of a broken TPMS (the TPMS is in the housing around the air nossle on the tire and when it broke, the tire deflated). Shorewood Auto was very nice, but they charged me almost $200 to remove the flat tire, replace the TPMS, and reinflate the tire. At the time, I thought this was fine. I didnt know how much a TPMS cost. Flash forward to today. The same thing happened to a 2nd tire on my car (an issue with the material the TPMS was made out of on the 2010 Kia Forte + mega potholes = exploded TPMS). However, I had it repaired at Belle Tire in Michigan (where I now live) for $62 TOTAL and it was done in 1.5 hours. I do not understand how the EXACT SAME procedure done just a few months apart on the same car could cost so differently. Double check the prices they quote you at Shorewood Auto before you get work done there.

I took my car to Shorewood with a check engine light and an EVAP code Po446, and after a $402.00 repair, the Check engine light was back on before I got back home, and the code was again Po446.Thanks for nothing!
