Our experience at Koons Mazda was great! We had Elijah as our salesperson and he was immensely helpful, kind, and patient with us as we navigated the whole process of buying a car. We had pretty strict requirements in the car we wanted and he was more than willing to help us find what we were looking for. And we did find a car that matched all our requirements!! He, along with the business representative Vanny, were really great and easy to work with. They made the process so much smoother. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you are looking for used cars. They are more than willing to help you find something that suits your financial and personal needs. So happy I went with them for my first car.

This review is long overdue. I thought I put my review here but had it elsewhere.A couple of years ago on Fathers Day, my gift to my husband was for him to watch sports on TV to his hearts content and that I go car shopping without him. (Sports, snacks, and the wife gone all day...it was a gift, lol.)I had a migraine but needed a car. My car-savvy son told me to get a Mazda CX-5 since I wanted a safe but nice car that took regular gas and had awesome ratings. He went with me to do the initial search at Koons as I had already conversed with my Sales Agent, Greg Ellison, from the Costco Car program. (I Googled him before hand, as well, and he had great reviews. I now know why.)He was very personable and knew/knows his cars. I thought Id buy a newer used car but my last experience (used BMW X3 soured me a bit -- thousands of $$$ I put into that car, even with a warranty).Greg showed me different models used, then new, and my son was right -- the CX-5 was the size I needed. Greg showed me a beautiful used car in the color I wanted that had everything on it...but there was a new car on the lot that had most of what I wanted, so we compared prices and options. The new car wasnt much more (as I couldnt go option-crazy) and had the upgrades that I was most interested in (Bose speakers, sun roof, heated seats, electric seats on the drivers side -- and AWD). It uses regular gas!!! Yes! No more required premium! The color was nice and my sons fav so I went new. It was meant for me.Mazdas have fantastic reviews in Car and Driver, and many consumer safety awards. I made a very good decision and I thank Greg for getting me there. He didnt oversell. Koons has the no haggling policy (main reason I choose that dealership besides being closer to home). So Greg sat down and went over a lot of ways to come up with a plan that would work for me. All my choice.While my car was sent to be cleaned up, I went over and spent time with the financial guy. Everything is electronic on a huge desk sized tablet...it was wild.He found a decent car loan and showed hme all of the different banks and loans pulled up so there was transparency.Overall, it was a long day with a bad headache, but the process was as good as a cure...I was, and am, impressed.Ive been back several times for my oil changes and such, and pleased how efficient the service dept is run. They have a nice waiting room with cold water bottles and a coffee machine that has many coffee options and it grinds the beans fresh! They have places to sit with your laptop with outlets. (Theyve thought of everything but an omelet station.)Since covid, they space out the people coming in so the waiting room is not crowded.I know this is a long review, but it is well deserved. If you got this far, tell Greg Ellison you saw my review if you go for a new car...I only get satisfaction (no rewards, this is not a paid review), especially if you go through the Costco Car program. Be aware: other salesperson/s may see the initial dealership email from Costco and will no doubt contact you. Tell them you are on the program and the dealership and salesperson youve chosen (if you had done so like me), as I had another salesperson contact me from Koons who wasnt on the Costco list and was gracious about my choice, but other dealerships came through, as well. Good to know you have a choice.

The customer service here is so bad the ppl in accounting having contacted me about my tags and when I got someone on the phone they told me I have to pay more taxes in order to get my tags after putting down over $19k for a down payment and now I have to give them another $1350 in order to get my tags which I should have gotten 2 months ago.If I cannot get my tags by next week I would like to get a refund on my down payment money. I advise if you buy here make sure whoever owns the dealership is present.

Shady scammers. I went in for a headlight repair to my 2009 Mazda 5. That first day was a warning I ignored. The person I spoke to at the Mazda service counter, Isaiah, told me I was supposed to be across the lot at the Ford service department. I walked over there and the person assigned told me he doesnt work on Mazdas and sent me back to the Isaiah. They looked at my car and had to order a part. For some reason I was charged for the part/service in advance, but the guy said hed call when the part came in, no biggie. He said it would only take ten minutes to swap the parts out, so it would be easy to schedule an appointment to come back for that to happen.Nobody ever called me to let me know the part was in or to schedule an appointment. I called them three days after I was told the part would arrive, thinking maybe it was delayed. The phone was answered by a gentleman named Alex, who put me through to the person who originally helped me, Isaiah. I left Isaiah a voicemail explaining that I want to check on the status and need to set up an appointment to have the part installed that I ALREADY PAID FOR.Isaiah didnt call back. Three hours later, I called and asked to speak to a service supervisor. The extremely nice lady I spoke to had trouble finding someone to help me, but finally transferred me to Alex. Alex said my part was there. I asked why I hadnt been informed, and he said it was on Isaiah to call me.He then transferred me to Isaiahs extension to set up an appointment. Isaiah didnt answer. This time I wasnt even given a voicemail option. The phone literally rang for ten minutes without being picked up. Why the hell couldnt someone else set up the appointment? Why does the buck get passed when things are missed? Why is nobody there answering their phones?I honestly would have been FINE with this if someone had just said, Sorry. We should have called you. Lets set up an appointment now.Apparently, Koons scams customers into paying for parts/service they have no intention of delivering. I am calling my bank to file a grievance to have my money returned.Stay far, far, far away from this service department.

If you want a new Mazda, Koons of Silver Spring is worth the extra travel time. Ask for Christian Rivera because he helped me find a car that had so much value I couldnt walk away without it. His infotainment knowledge and detailing skills were also appreciated.

The manager refused to negotiate on an overpriced SUV which is now considered a LEMON in which we are 1 year out of Marylands legal statute to file a complaint. The manager was fired not even a month after treating us like complete garbage. I will never do business with Koons Mazda again and neither will my family or friends in Silver Spring.

With the car market being so slim I know it was going to be a challenge to find the vehicle that I was looking for. hi stumbled upon Koons Mazda Silver Spring and saw a vehicle that really interested me. I talk to Elijah Baker regarding holding the vehicle until I could come out to see it in person, and he sure did hold it for as long as he could.Upon our arrival the car was ready for us to be test driven and we were on our way. The vehicle test drove did not have as many features as we were looking for so there was one on the showroom floor that we requested to test drive. it was a 2021 Mazda 3 premium!We fell in love with the car and got the paperwork started. Both Sam, the finance manager and Elijah, our salesman were FANTASTIC! I highly recommend shopping at this dealer and working directly with both Elijah and Sam! they made the buying experience so seamless and with no pressure!Thank you again to Sam and Elijah and the rest of the Koons Mazda team!

This was an excellent dealership and overall experience. I went in not knowing what car I really wanted and the car salesman, Gus, did an excellent job of explaining how Mazda’s cars function and all of the cool features that they have. At this dealership I was well taken care of while still being able to browse and learn about how Mazda’s cars stand out from other cars. 10/10 I would go back in the future.

Unfortunate experience. From the beginning the sales manager who was supposed to provide me with quotes over the phone took more than two weeks, two different times to get back to me. Once I purchased the car, I had to wait for it to get to the dealership which is not a problem; however, the car arrived 5 days later than expected and I received few if any updates from the dealership during the three weeks I waited. Overall poor customer experience, poorly set expectations in terms of wait times, and sparse communication. I doubt I will do business with this dealership again

I was looking to trade my 2010 Mazda car for a reasonable price and buy a Ford car or SUV for a good price. In the meantime I received an email from Koons Silver Spring for me to take advantage of Black Friday deals. I made an appointment with the Sales Manager who introduced me to Lonny Baxter after initial discussions. From the beginning until my purchase of 2017 Ford Escape Lonny Baxter was very helpful, patient and very professional handling my vehicle purchase. He made sure out of the 3 vehicles seen I was happy with the suv chosen. He explained all details of the new vehicle and asked if I had any questions that he may answer. He was very positive in his attitude and was willing to help all the way to the end. He also kept communicating with me after the sale to ensure I was pleased with the vehicle and offered his assistance anytime. Had a great experiencing purchasing my Mazda CX-30 this past weekend here!! I was debating between two suv models so I was able to test drive both of them before deciding. I came back the following day to pick up the car, and it was nicely cleaned and a full tank of gas! Gus helped me through the whole process and walked me through the Mazda app setup/features and all the features of the car itself. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. The GM David showed up throughout the process and he was awesome.And lastly, the Mazda facility itself is nice! Not sure if it’s newly renovated or newly built completely, but it is very clean and chic. There’s also a nice little lounge area for those waiting for service—with comfy chairs, a TV and complimentary coffee/water.

So now i have car insurance for a car i dont have and now i have to wait since they told me i have to get a more newer vehicle. I dont think they really care about the customer they just care about money

I started my experience withh Koons Mazda on the phone. I simply expressed interest with a finance manager about the possibility of getting me financed on a nice used Mazda. Simon called me back even though I have challenged credit AND coming with low down payment. Couple of days later I went in and was introduced to Sabrina, Sales Asdociate. The entire experience was incredibly pleasant and efficient. Sabrina is knowledgeable about the cars and offered options based on my needs and desires. She is an excellent sales person as she sells the car without any pretentiousness or pushiness. She had the deal closed without the Finance Manager, Simon. Simon is as profient, efficient, and knowledgeable finace person I have ever encountered. Sometimes the paperwork and finace hard sells are the worst part of a car purchase, not in this case. Simon got it done and I was out there door faster than Ive ever been when acquiring a vehicle. What started as a phone inquiry about a used car, because of Simon and Sabrina, resulted in an awesome brand new car acquisition. Koons teamwork is to be commended as well. Sabrina asked her coworkers to help with a couple of simple task while she juggled multiple customers and they jumped in and helped without hesitation. Thats awesome teamwork.I highly recommend Koons, Sabrina, and Simon if you are in the market for a new or used car. They will take good care of you. They may have earned a customer for life.

I had a great experience purchasing my vehicle from Koons. Jackie did a fantastic job of walking me through the process and making sure that everything was taken care of. They gave me a very fair price on the car and for my trade-in. The finance manager wasnt pushy at all when I told him I didnt want an extended warranty or other coverages. There were some issues with getting my permanent tags, but the Customer Relations Manager was very thorough and made sure that the issues were resolved quickly. After 2 months of owning my vehicle, I couldnt be happier. Id recommend Koons to anybody looking to purchase a vehicle.

I inquired about a car on a snowy day last week. Salesman John said he would bring the car to my house for me to look at. I live in Baltimore 45 minutes away. In the snow john came over with the car.John let me test drive the car and we made a deal. Next day John delivered the car to my house and I singed some paperwork and that was it! I had the most terrible experience in this place! My sales person did not know the most basic things about the vehicle, trims, features, etc.Initially they told me that the car is in their storage lot and we need to go there. So we started driving towards the lot and guess what?! We got lost! The guy didn’t use google map or anything! He called his friend while driving and the directions coming from the other side of the line were like this: “when you see the baseball court, turn left”, “there is a green sign there”, ...!!!!! At one point we realized we are back at the dealership by mistake 😅I mean what age are these guys from?! Anyways, We wasted 40mins driving around until I got mad and I asked the guy to drive me back. We got back, he apologized and convinced me to do a test drive at least. I accepted and guess what?! They had the right car at the dealership all this time!!! I got to the test drive after I wasted and hour and half there, real fast and efficient Koons Mazda, great job!Anyhow, I did the test drive and liked the car and everything. I asked about their leasing prices.Once again, it took then two hours to get the prices! Why?!After all this, I was expecting them to try to earn my business by offering good prices and discounts. However, the price that they offered was higher than the price that I got from the same dealership just by calling them 😐😐😐I said it is too high and they made absolutely no effort to satisfy me and actually get a deal for themselves! So I left and ‘ll never go back!I suggest you do the same :)

They are a great dealer (for warranty work). I needed a transmission replaced, they did it under warranty and in time, and provided me a loaner for the time I didn’t have the car. I had no out of pocket cost. Big thumbs up to this dealer. Disclaimer - did not buy the car here, but they still did the repair (which they are required to, but no one gave me any flack for not having purchased the car here).

My wife and I were looking to buy a car to replace my wifes expiring lease, and the experience at Koons Mazda Silver Spring could not have been better. We did our homework on what we wanted before hand, and Jackie helped us when we came to the dealership to do a test drive. It turns out we really wanted a 2021 model which were not in stock yet. But Koons let us know as soon as the new models arrived.Jackie brought the exact car we wanted to our home when it was convenient for us, let us drive the car, answered any questions we had, and honestly made it a pleasurable and pressure free experience. Going to a car dealership can be an daunting, exhausting and scary, but you have to deal with one to get the new car that you want. I walked into Koons Mazda with my guard up. I was thinking, what kind of upsells are they going to try on me? How hard are they going to push me to sign up for 18% financing? How long will it take them to ask me what I want my monthly payment to be (lol). Thankfully, within five minutes of walking in and talking to Alex (Ali), my guard was taken down. He had a big smile, kind eyes and a calm voice. When I told him that I wanted to test drive a manual club and automatic grand touring MX-5 back to back in order to compare them, he said no problem and brought both the cars out. Nice. Now, this is a 2-seater, and typically dealerships dont just hand you the keys to try a car without riding along with you, but my love was with me and her opinion is an important, if not the most important, part of buying a new car. To my surprise when I asked if the two of us could test drive it together, Alex said, I insist! and handed me the keys. Awesome. After the test drives, my mind was set on the automatic 2018 MX-5 Grand Touring, white with the cherry top, but it was still kind of early in my quest for a new car and I wanted to test drive some other cars. I told Alex that I don’t plan on buying today but thanked him for being kind and allowing us to test drive it by ourselves. He simply replied that it was his pleasure and to take our time on getting a new car. He asked for my phone number to keep in touch.So off we went to other dealerships and most of them were the typical dealerships. You walk in and you get swarmed. Salespeople talk to you like you don’t know anything about cars, they ask right away how much I want to pay monthly before we even settle on a price, and their numbers are more inflated than my ego. One Mazda dealership I went to played dumb about the $4000 cash back on the 2018 MX-5’s that’s right on the mazda website as an official incentive. I immediately left.So after a weekend of looking at cars at a bunch of dealerships, my love reminded me about how kind Alex was and how great our experience was at Koons Mazda. The truth is, she liked Alex’s personality and how nice he was. That pretty much settled us wanting to buy the car from them.I went back to Koons Mazda and told Alex the price I wanted for the car out the door. The sales manager, Scott, came over and was really nice. He didn’t go into a script, or try to play games with me, he was very polite and kept it simple which is what I like, and he told me that they couldn’t sell the car for the price that worked for me. I was sad and so was my love. We left, cried for a few moments and decided to look for another dealership to buy the car.The next day, I called a dealership and to get a quote on the same car that I wanted and they gave me a better out the door price, but, that dealership was over an hour away and they were sounding “dealershipy” over the phone, so I decided to call back Koons Mazda and spoke with Scott. I told him that another dealership offered to me the car at the out the door price that works for me, but I enjoyed the experience at Koons Mazda so much that I would love to buy the car from them. Scott took a couple minutes to think about, then gladly told me that they could sell me the car for that price. Success!I went down to the dealership, looked over the papers and signed. I then went into the finance manager’s office and told him simply that I don’t want any extended warranties or paint protection programs or any hoopla, and he smiled and said that this makes everything easier! We breezed through the finance portion of buying the car and I wasn’t upsold one bit.Honestly, this is the best dealership experience I’ve ever had. Everyone was so kind, welcoming and not salesy at all. This is exactly how a dealership experience should be and puts all other dealerships to shame. Keep up the kindness, smiles and great attitude at Koons Mazda. Thank you again Alex and Scott!

Came back 5 months later to change my rating. Make sure you keep your paperwork and watch your back. Once we were off the lot, horrible service. I have had issues with the pre-paid maintenance plan we purchased. We now live in a different state and what is in the computer system at Ford is NOT what we paid for. I have left more messages than I can count with no return calls. And I seem to recall them saying when I bought the vehicle they had addressed any recalls. When I took it in for the first oil change a real dealer checked and there were 5 recalls to address. Somehow Im not buying that Koons really checked, especially after the poor service I have recieved since the purchase. Maybe after this post they will call me back.

Very bad service, took my wife’s car. Employee can’t answer my questions. They don’t know the difference between oil change and 90k service. Try to overcharge me and ask me for unnecessary things done. I know the car and I know what I did change it and replaced by myself. After oil change done, the car starts malfunctioning such as won’t start, checked Battery and replaced. ( by the way battery was replaced 3 years ago)After that, neutral safety switch goes bad.I don’t know what’s wrong it, but I will never go that dealer again. Car was in good shape before I went to that dealership. Don’t go there.

Look, STOP!Dont go to Lexus, Dont go to Honda, Dont go to Nissan.Mazda has definitely got that Zoom, Zoom!In addition, all of the dealer incentives will seriously make your head spin faster than an exorcism. I got more deals than I bargained for and could not stop smiling. It has been almost three weeks, and I think everyone could probably still view the same crinkles from the smile lines.Im just seriously flabbergasted at the incentives, and the ride; best of all though, has to be the features of the vehicle. Everyday, Im going, WOW! Especially when the navigation shows up on the windshield, or changes the grass to a realistic green, or when that 12 speaker bass just blasts those 808s in the newer music, OMG! Absolutely, AMAZING!Look at this piece here though, that - Zoom, Zoom! Nothing like it, so much agility, its smoother than a babys rear-view, or a cobra in the nightfall. The new CX-9 is definitely tops in every aspect of the word.Just had to go drop my son off in Boston, and cant wait to pick him up, and view his gleaming face when he sees how quickly we get him back.Although this part should probably not be mentioned: I just have to say, Ive been dusting everyone on the road; Marylanders, New Yorkers, New Jersey Folks, best part - Bostonians. Its funny to see them take off next to me, thinking - Yeh! Then to have that turbo kick in when we pass them by like a lightening bolt. WOW! If you want fast, dont give your money to the birds (Nissan, Lexus, Honda; etc.); Get to Koons, fast! Matter of fact, get a CX-9, and get there even faster!Just to mention, dont give me any garble eyes! I am a very cautious driver; whos been driving over 20 plus years, with only the amount of accidents that anyone can count on 2 fingers. The concern for human life is my main when driving. I had a great time at Koons auto during the entire process of looking for a new car.I came into Koons Ford looking for a car to replace my ailing Honda Element. I was greeted my a sales rep called Magdala who assisted me through the entire experience. She had a great personality and it helped make me feel more comfortable. Though I didnt end up buying, she walked me through models that were similar to my Element like a Ford Flex. We even went on a test drive where she rattled off the features as if she had memorized them.Should this pandemic end and I get back on my car hunting game, I will definitely be back!

Recently bought a used car from Koons Mazda which was listed at a great price. Unfortunately there is a close to $1000 markup which is not optional. This additional amount is added on during the sale for items that are usually covered by the dealer such as cleaning and disinfecting, a second key (although every car new or used that I have ever purchased came with a second key), and a 1000 mile warranty for what was supposedly a certified used car although the certified warranty paperwork was conveniently not included on the flash drive they give you instead of hard copies of the sale. The free rental car for life that was also Included In the mark up might be worth something if you bring your vehicle to this dealer for service.So be warned - they get you in the door with a low price but really the cost of their cars are about $1000 above the advertised price, and request hard copies of all the paperwork before you walk out the door otherwise you will not have any recourse when you need warranty coverage or to follow up on promises made during the sale. Love the car but regretting giving this dealer my business.

I came in because my brand new car battery that I had installed at the dealership in April had decided to go stiff, stone dead and my car was driving weird once I was able to jump it (it wasnt accelerating right etc). I had called ahead and spoke to Isaiah who assured me theyd be able to deal with it immediately. I was having a terrible day (nothing like car problems to stall your plans) but when I arrived at the dealership I was able to speak to Isaiah again who got my car looked at within 10 minutes of my arrival. I saw him walk over to the garage and pull out a mechanic and point directly to my car and tell him to take care of it right away. In about an hour I was back out and driving with a battery replaced under warranty, no issues at all! Best part was, about a week after this happened (ie, yesterday), Isaiah gave me a call to make sure everything was still running smoothly with my new battery and I had no further issues!Ive been to Koons Mazda of Silver Spring a few times in the past two years since I bought my 2016 Mazda 3 from there and have always had a good service experience but Isaiah really took the cake with customer service and making sure that I was taken care of. Car buying can be daunting and frustrating especially when you have a salesperson that puts on undue pressure. This was not the case at Koons Mazda. My product specialist, Kirk Daniels was clearly familiar and knowledgeable without being overbearing. He compared all my options succinctly and added a personal touch. I would recommend him to anyone buying a car.Mike in Finance was equally efficient and added to the overall experience.I am completely irritated to update this review because they buying process was indeed a great one. However, since then, it has been unnecessarily frustrating.Upon my way out with my brand new car the store Manager came out to greet me and congratulate me. Not sure if this is protocol but I thought, how amazing. He asked about any concerns and my friend pointed out that there was a few paint chips on the side and back of the car. He assured us that it would be taken care of and we could schedule the touch up as someone would reach out.A day or two later I was contacted by a customer relations associate who told me to bring in the car. I left for about 90 minutes and returned and the touch up still wasnt done so I waited for another hour or so. When the car was returned the touch up paint clearly didnt match the rest of the car and both the associate and the service manager on duty told me that I would need to bring the car back and they would need to paint the entire panel. They would need to check on the schedule and then contact me.Three weeks later no phone call from either of them. I reached out to the Finance Manager because I had his number, he replied that I would be contacted in a few. Three days later still no call so I reached out again. He walked over to the customer associate who claimed it was my fault for not reaching out and that I told them I would be out of town. It was not her job to contact Maryland Collision (first I even heard of that name). She told me that the Finance Manager was going to reach out to me. The Finance Manager told me she would reach out to me? I dont understand what is happening and still no conclusion as of now.

We had a terrible experience with this dealership. The sales person, Abdallah, was super sweet, kind and helpful so this has nothing to do with him. We initially saw a car on Sunday that we were interested in but needed some time to think about. He asked us to come back to negotiate a price in person, which we did. Once we arrived back at the dealership, we needed to speak with the sales manager to talk about pricing. We waited 45 minutes for him to even come over to speak with us. The sales manager, Tom, basically told us that they dont negotiate, told us we didnt know what we were talking about, even though my partner did extensive research on the particular car and price range, and then walked away in the middle of our conversation to take another call. We waited another 15 minutes and he never came back; he had the sales person relay the message that he wasnt going to negotiate on price. So we wasted an entire hour of our time just waiting to speak with this guy, who was incredibly rude and disrespectful of our time. We have never been treated with such disrespect and disregard at a car dealership. Clearly they didnt care about getting our business or us as customers. Its such a shame to be treated this way when so many businesses are hurting right now and we wanted to give them our business!

Imagine you live in Georgia, your elderly mom lives in NJ, but she is staying in DC temporarily due to Covid19. She needs a new car and you are hundreds of miles away. What do you do? You go to Koons of Silver Spring and ask for Lonny Baxter. They know team work. After picking out a car online we needed to test drive. Lonny brought the car to mom and drove around with her. Mom loved it so we settled on a price. Financing and Trade in? Lonny came to mom and took care of it with her and me on the phone. Registration in another state? No problem, Koons and Lonny took care of it over the phone again. Sign the paperwork and pickup the carat the dealership? Na. They came to mom and took care of it. Why is mom happy? She has a car she loves and and a team she counted on for help. She also liked getting a picture with her new car and Lonny Baxter, UMD and NBA star. Why am I happy? I drove over 4 hours to buy a 2012 mustang gt from this dealership. It was the worst experience Ive ever had at a dealership. Since I wasnt close I kept in contact with a salesman and talked about the car. When I got there I test drove the car and everything went well till after I got back from the test drive and realized the roof damage the car had that I was never informed of. I could only compare the damage to someone stomping across the entire roof, when I brought up the damage to the manager he didnt even blink. His reaction and what he said just showed me he already knew of the damage and was hoping I wouldnt see it until I purchased the car. It was the exact car I wanted so I tried to work out a deal and all they would do was take a couple hundred dollars off the price on a repair that would cost triple what they offered to take off. I would only recommend people stay far away from this dealership and take youre money to a dealership that has at least some professionalism. 1 out of 5 stars is a lot higher than this dealership should be rated.

Koons Ford/Mazda was fantastic. I was in the market to buy a Corvette and was on Cars.com and CarFax when I came across a “ new listing “, the listing didn’t have any pictures but I read the description and was intrigued by it . I sent in the generic inquiry email and got a response in like 5 mins from Lonny Baxter, he not only sent me pics and a short video of the car but then called me, Lonny was awesome! I live up in New York and obviously the dealership is in Maryland, this being the first time that I ever tried purchasing a car in this way, I was unfamiliar with the process, Lonny was able to guide me through it and we were able to cut a deal . I traveled down to the dealership a few days a later and closed the deal and drove the car back north .
