Thanks for renting me a truck with no oil in it on a one way move to Florida!! Your truck died on the New Jersey Turnpike and I had to pay out of pocket to get it towed off, then the real fun began!! We (including wife, 2 daughters, dog, cat, and hamster) were towed to an abandoned Sears parking lot and sat there for hours being told we were being taken care of and we’re going to be given a pet friendly room.Fast forward 8 hours…we are at a tow company in Roselle New Jersey finally watching our truck being reloaded and finally getting to our hotel which I still had to pay for.Your vendor, Rob Cubala of CES Towing was more helpful than any of your customer service operators were! If you have to do business with Uhaul and you’re in the area…call Rob! Otherwise you’re hung out to dry by Uhaul customer service! We lost a full day of travel, $500 for the tow, $176 for the hotel, missed visiting our son at Fort Bragg, and missed first day of moving into our new home on top of being charged $3000 plus for shoddy equipment.Uhaul does NOT care about their customer’s safety and I will NEVER deal with them again and I will urge anyone I come into contact with to do the same.ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL!!

Really disappointing as it’s a convenient location; but they give consistently awful customer service. We’ve had a storage unit with them and rented trucks for moving, and they’ve made so many mistakes, it would take too long to list. Avoid this place if you can.

Came in for a propane refill. Tim, who worked on 1/30, was incredibly rude. I was the only one in the store - Tim answer my question about types of refill done here with I dont know, made it very clear that whatever he was doing was more important that talking to me, and barked at me to wait outside by the pumps (its 14 degrees out today). 15 min later an older gentleman with a white beard came out and helped. The older gentleman was quite nice...Im not sure how Tim is in a customer facing role.

Tried to get hitch installed, schedule on 4/19. on the day of scheduled install, got notified part is not available, need back order. fine. arrived 2nd time with scheduled date, was told part not arrived, however, I do not even get a call. at this date, still waiting for another date. not professional. the process is broken.

Ive used this Uhaul location both for storage and for two truck rentals over the last two years and it went smoothly each time. Seems like a lot of other people have had issues at this location, but my experience was quite pleasant and easy.

I felt pretty good after reading the comments and know that I am not the only one being treated terribly by the front desk employee. At least the person is fair to everyone, equally rude, annoying, unhelpful, and offensive. I am surprised that the manager still lets this continue without intervening. Interesting. I know it is not the employees business, but being professional should be a minimal requirement.I came here because the pickup that I wanted was not available at other locations and there are plenty (at least shown online) at this location. I think I know part of the reason why that is.Other than the attitude, the renting process was OK. Vehicle is clean and new. No issue with that.

Renting pickup truck was great by tim Donvan at U-Haulon rt16 Medford he was great and nice. but when I went return the truck and pick up my car from the parking lot. My car had windsheild craked by a rock that fell from builings roof. Tim took the report and Sam yard guy witness it and said it happens all the time and come see the manager Bob Corbeil. Next day I went to see Bob and explanied what happened but Bob said it was not his issue to call U-haul insurance company. So i Called the insurance company gave all the paper work they asked for and few weeks later insurance CO. said that U-Haul denied the claim. So i Call Bob he said he is not resposiable for anything that happens there and not to call back. So I was stuck paying for the rental and fixing my vehicle. Uhaul was responiable and the manager BOB Corbeil could have been more helpful instead of being furstrsted and upset at a complaint.

The staff was great. They were helpful but the most helpful was Jeff. I have never driven a large truck with a trailer attached. Jeff took the time to explain the answer to every question I had. I left the U-Haul location feeling much better because of the assistance and support of the staff at this location.

Dont even consider this place for getting a hitch installed. Had mine installed awhile back and on the drive none of the lights worked, figured Id get it fixed later because I couldnt push the move back. Had another Uhaul look at it and they told me that whoever installed my wiring had no idea what they were doing and totally butchered the electrical in my car. Not I have to have the dealership fix it and file a claim with Uhaul. Avoid this place at all costs for hitches!

Come here only if youre desperate and willing to deal with terrible attitude and confrontational employees.My experience:- Arrived to site 10 minutes before reservation-start-time-Receiving keys to the truck 15 minutes after the reservation-start-time-Asked if they could extend my my reservation-end-time by 15 minutes to compensate.-Was answered: you can either cancel, bring it back in time, or bring it late and pay for the next customers reservation-This made no sense, but Im moving homes and have less time than expected. I leave for the truck-Several trucks in the lot. Was not told how to identify my truck when handed the keys, so I assumed someone in the lot would assist once I came over with a key.-Wasted more minutes trying to figure out which truck was mine/waiting to see if they would help.-One finally calls me over while sitting on a truck, looks at the keys and says, your truck is over there....points to all the trucks.-I ask if he can specify which one.-Repeats action.-Im still not sure here. I see several trucks. Its almost 20-25 minutes at this point. Im getting annoyed. I ask, bro, can you specify which one? I cant tell which one youre pointing at. -Associate suddenly screams, I aint your brother, Ive been watching you, youve had a terrible attitude since you got here- ??????????- I say, I just want my truck, Im trying to move.-Employee says, figure it out and walks away into the garage.-Im mad, Im stunned, Im late and I still don;t know which truck is mine.-Bystanding staff eventually assists-never coming here again.

This is literally the worst customer service I have experienced in 6 years living in the Boston area. I spent over one hour trying to access my storage unit because they were assigning me occupied lockers consistentely. They have no control over the units that are busy/available at all, it is a complete disaster. The person in customer service was extremely rude and yelled at me. I had to ask for a refund since I could not find one single available unit.

Avoid at all costs! They called just a few hours before we were supposed to pick up a truck for a cross-country move and said that the truck wasn’t available. When I went to go pick up what we were able to rent from them, several of their sales associates weren’t wearing masks for COVID-19 and came right up to you and stood next to you to do the mobile check-in.

Ive rented from at least 8 U-Haul locations in various states, and this has been my best experience. Tom and his staff were great. Yes there was a line at the desk, but Ive come to expect that and they did a good job of processing everyone as quickly as possible without doing a poor job.

I signed up for an express pickup. It took twenty minutes for an associate to “verify” my credentials over the app while I sat waiting. Turns out the key to the van was not in the pick up box and I had by to drive to another location. There was a line out the door and one surly cashier. I ended up being 1.5 hours late. Terrible experience on the whole.

Swung by to purchase an adapter for my hitch to put a bike rack on it. Was messing around with installing it in the parking lot and wasnt having much luck doing it myself when 2 of the guys came out and asked if I needed help. They pretty much installed it for me and even grabbed some of the parts I needed from the spares lying around. The bike rack instructions werent very clear it would have taken me some time to figure it out. These guys were very helpful and kind.

The guy who helped us out when we rented a truck to take a sofa from Somerville to Lawrence was a rockstar in helping us get the best deal. Everyone who was working there was helpful and seemed to be in a good mood. The truck was in good condition and made it so much easier to move a sofa up to Lawrence. Had no trouble dropping it off closer to where I lived. It wasnt as cheap as I thought it would be but I could have done more research before renting. Would rent from here again.

Make sure to check the contract for additional charges before leaving and stay until you get a statement when returning. Found a charge of $20 in the contract for CDW that I hadnt asked for and an additional $50 for cleaning in the statement. while all we moved was some household Ikea furniture. Tried calling but lost patience with the waiting game. Convenient location and flexible timings is the only reason this gets 2 stars.

Probably the worst customer service I have ever had. Had a 10am appointment for a trailer hitch install. I showed up 20 minutes before the appointment time they said it would be in for the service in a few minutes, so I went and did some shopping. I came back 1 1/2 hours later to find my car was still not in. I had to approch them to ask what was going on, they said it would be at least another 30 minutes before they could even get started. So lets put this in terms everyone understands, say you make a reservation at a restaurant and you show up 20 minutes before, and you wait 1 1/2 hours and no one says anything to you, in fact they say it will be at least another 30 minutes before you will be seated!! Thats basically what happened here. The manager stated that stuff happens, yes sir it does but just a little not a lot, just a little communication goes a long way!! How long would that restaurant be in business??? Beware folks 0 communication at this location!!!

Not a good customer experience. We drove 7.8 miles according to the odometer-which makes sense since the locations were both in West Medford area. Job was done in an hour. We return it and they say there is not enough gas (we got 2 gallons which was more than enough), after threat of a $25 fee plus gas-we got gas and figure we would sort it out later....Waited over 20 mins and no answer still. This place has a bunch of mediocre employees. One of the guys always holds up the line by having long conversations regardless of how long the line is.

Weve been going here for four years several times a year for moving and, more recently, storage. Almost every time we have had not only a good experience, but exceptional experiences. Its mostly the staff thats so unbelievably great, they really care and really know their stuff. They know the quirks in the system, and they know how to take care of things. They have *never* shrugged and said tough. Just a few examples: once I was picking something up and the person I was getting from cancelled last minute, I called ot try to cancel the van even though we were supposed to pick it up in only half an hour, and the guy said that if a lot of people needed vans that day it would be one day, but they had lots on the lot so he didnt charge me anything. Another time, we had to access the storage after hours but the system wasnt working. They happened to be having a BBQ next door and saw us so a couple guys came over and sorted everything out, not only letting us in but hanging around until we were able to come back for another load and finish up so they could let us in again. Every time we rent the truck we add some gas but theyre pretty relaxed about how full it is so if your off a tad they dont care. These guys are awesome, every single person we have worked, every one, has been knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. The facilities themselves are good enough. The trucks are fine (although I wish you could get them without the dollys built in i.e. remove the dollies), and the storage rooms are relatively clean although it would be nice if the doorways were the full height of the ceiling and if the floors had laminate put in so they could be cleaned really well, but on the whole weve never had problems. A++

Two years ago, I got a hitch installed in my Honda Odyssey by this shop. They messed up the electrical connection. When I brought it back, they tried to claim that it was shoddy work done by someone else until I showed them the receipt. It took 3 visits, but they eventually made it work. I still have an electrical cord that I have to be careful of when I close the hatchback. If I had it all to do again, I would go to a Honda dealer instead.

We helped a friend move from New Hampshire to the Boston area. This was a great location for us to return the truck, close to my home. We rented moving blankets and an appliance dolly for the move. When we pulled up the attendant said that their policy was that if we leave the pads and blankets (which were folded and stowed neatly in the cargo area) they would charge us for cleaning the truck. In spite of my protest that this was the most ridiculous scam he insisted that if we left the rented equipment in the rented truck he would declare the clean truck dirty and charge it to our credit card. I think he was just lazy. I hope he was lazy. If that is U-Haul policy that would be so much the worse than a lazy employee. Any one know if that is their policy. Sounds like a way to scam customers to me.

I wish I could give them 0 stars! The general manager, Jerry, has TERRIBLE customer service! I had to call 3 times to finally get a call back from him and then he was rude and arrogant. He did not answer my questions nor address my complaint for being charged a different price per mile and to top it off he cut me off several times when I was talking. I will be filing ANOTHER corporate complaint, this is the SECOND TIME that I was OVER CHARGED. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH SOMEONE WHO IS RESPECTFUL!

I ordered a 17 truck here online and called to change my reservation, about 2 weeks before picking up, to an earlier time. They said theyd confirmed my 9:00am pickup. When I drove in, on a tight schedule, they said that not only had they not changed the reservation, but there was no way for me to get the truck at the time I reserved.The customer service agent was unable to help me and acted like it was my fault. He offered me a small van but sat there doing nothing. I cannot believe the way I was treated, even when I called multiple times just in case. Stay away from this place if you can. It is the worst UHaul location near Cambridge.Edit: Drove 4 hours to pick up this truck and left at 4:00am just to get to my reservation. Totally screwed by these guys

The manager was VERY VERY Rude, yelling unless we mentioned the insurance, then he took a look and started behaving himself. The staff is very helpful and are willing to spend any time necessary to work through issues to get you into a U-Haul or get moved in. It does get a bit warm in the building in the summer so come hydrated if you are doing a large amount of moving.

5 stars for Christopher at Somerville; 0 stars for Uhaul reservations.Christopher was great; Uhaul scheduling was horrendous. On Friday via phone call, text and email I was confirmed and guaranteed a 10 foot truck for Saturday 10am; I confirmed by phone again on Saturday at 8am. (My original reservation made a month earlier had been at Allston for a 15 foot truck but Uhaul by phone told me on Friday that was a request and now they were telling me what they could deliver.) I arrived in Somerville at 945am and was told that the reservation had been UNILATERALLY and with no notice to me changed by Uhaul to 1pm; my email and text is cut/pasted here: We have a 10 Moving Van reserved for you and guaranteed Saturday, 9/1/2018 at 10:00 AM. At Somerville, I was told that my guarantee was by regional and that means nothing. That would destroy our schedule for the day and my sons move into his new Boston apartment that we had paid $150 for the one available Labor Day weekend move in time slot at our apartment building and two of my adult kids took the morning off work to help with the move. FORTUNATELY, I found Christopher the manager at Somerville and after 15 minutes he found me a truck that had been returned via drop off that he then turned around and rented me. He saved the day - 5 stars for Christopher and 0 stars for Uhaul corporate. I strongly recommend to book your truck for a day earlier than you need; or maybe use a more dependable truck rental company if your schedule is tight. Or get to know Christopher - HE is dependable!

Ive had a really positive experience with the staff so far.They let me walk-in for a pre-tow inspection and I was done within 10 minutes. Very friendly, super helpful.Ive found through my dealings with Uhaul that its important to read the disclaimers (even though none of us do) because youll learn a lot about their policies. The corporate policies are very inconvenient and borderline abusive - but these guys in Medford cant control them.

My wife and I rented a truck from this location, as well as several storage units in the facility. We had a whole house worth of stuff to store, so it ended up taking up four units. The elevators and courtesy carts that are available for general use make it easy to move things from the loading-dock to any of the five floors.Throughout our whole move, every member of the Uhaul staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Moving can be so stressful, but the wonderful staff members at this location were flexible and upbeat at every turn. We visited our storage units several times over a period of four months. Here are some examples of their excellent customer service.On our first day there we had a 26 foot truck that we were backing up to the loading dock. The entire dock was blocked by subcontractors (ugh…) who were hanging a new gutter. They did not appear to be actively working (gutter laying on the ground, and four guys leaning on the wall in the shade). The subcontractor foreman said the dock was closed for the whole day while they hung the gutter (seriously?, you have four guys here and you claim you need all day?). I then sought out the Uhaul General Manager (who is awesome!). He got those guys working so fast they had that gutter hung in twenty minutes, and made the dock available for our use.During another visit, the main elevator was being serviced, and a janitor in the warehouse walked me over to the service elevator. He didn’t just give me vague directions, he walked me all the way there and made sure I knew how to reach my storage unit from that end of the building. That’s the kind of service that I hope for in a retail establishment, but never expected in a storage facility. What a great experience.On yet another visit, my wife and I wanted to purchase extended-hours access to the facility (which allows you to get in with an electronic key card after hours). The purchase itself appeared to go through just fine, and yet our card would not let us in to the building. Several members of the staff stayed late to help us troubleshoot the issue. We eventually got it worked out, thanks to their help.To sum up, this is a great storage facility, with flexible helpful staff who a customer-service oriented. I would recommend this Uhaul location to anybody.

Couldnt have been better. Each spring, I have to pick up the kid at BU and drag her crap back to Buffalo. 3 years running, I have had a fantastic experience with Uhaul Sommerville. I show up, they hook it up, and Im out the door with a decent trailer in under 30 minutes. Jerry, the general manager, took care of me. He could not have been nicer. Thank you!

Terrible experience. Storage units are all down very narrow hallways, so dont plan on storing anything but small boxes here. General Manager that was working is very argumentative and unhelpful. Wasted 1.5 hours. There computer system is very outdated and cant assign specific units. Other people in line were having similar arguments with GM.

As far as storage unit facilities go, this one is well-lit, spacious, and climate controlled with easy access for cars, vans, and trucks. The driveway entrance can get crowded if more than one rental truck/van is being processed, but most of the time it works.
