Been meaning to try this bakery out & was craving some baked goods after a long day. So decided to Postmates some things to try. Im I glad did since most items were quite good.ITEMS ORDERED:Bolitas de Dulce (chocolate)DanishMini ConchaConfetti Mini ConchaCuernito (Croissant)Trenza Ham, Cheese & JalepenoTASTE:This might be the first time Ive had these Mexican baked goods from an actual bakery & not just from a local Mexican market. So was curious how much better (if any) the quality would be.Bolitas de Dulce (chocolate) was one of my least favorites. Nothing so bad I didnt finish it though. Its pretty much chocolate icing (w/ sprinkles) on top of a sweet bun. The bun itself was a subtle sweetness which was nice because the icing is very sweet. The chocolate icing really does taste like the Sara lee or Pillsburry one you pick up in grocery aisles. So if you like that flavor youll enjoy this. The Danish was basically a very good cheese danish. Very common type of danish and this one is very well made. Cheese has a pleasant flavor, not like the cheese danish youll find at gas stations. & the dough was very fresh. The Mini Concha was a chocolate one that was just ok for me. Bread is good I just didnt love the chocolate flavor, seemed a little washed out.Confetti Mini Concha was one of my favorites. Its supposed to be confetti birthday cake flavor that just comes off as an inviting vanilla flavor.Cuernito (Croissant) was a very well made croissant. Nice flaky texture & buttery enough.Trenza Ham, Cheese & Jalepeno kind of comes off like a ham & cheese panini. Little salty for me & wish it had more jalepeno. The green salsa was tasty & worked well to enhance overall flavor.SERVICE, LOCATION, & PARKING:No comments on service since this was delivered through Postmates. But I do like their branded bag the food came in.They are located right on the corner of Mission St & Meridian Ave. If youre lucky youll find street parking right on Mission & I think theres a few spots in the back of the building. Otherwise you should be able to find residential parking not too far off.Random notes:Some of the bread have different varieties, but the Postmates app does not give you an option to pick one. Like for the Danish, the app says pineapple, guava & cream. I ended up receiving cheese. All in all, the baked goods worked out well & when Im craving these types of sweets & Im open to checking this place out in person.

This Bakery/Coffee Shop is great. They offer cakes, cookies, pan dulce, food, coffee, lattes, smoothies and more. The bread is soft and has a good layer sweet topping. The coffee has a slight bitterness to it, but adding some chocolate and cream helps make is amazing. Staff are nice and the vibe in the shop is comfortable and non rushing. I felt I could take my time but not hold up a line. Definitely coming back.

What messed up place. I ordered a latte with chocolate croissant and tried to pay with a $20 bill. The cashier looked at it hard to verify its real. I then asked shift manager few minutes later about that and ....she pretty much got angry and said thats what we do. Maybe they should switch to card payments only instead of being paranoid.

First time trying a Mexican bakery and we werent disappointed. The guava croissant was delicious, the hot cocolate was with a hit of cinnamon with was great and the tiramisu was phenomenal. Didnt try anything savory so thats for next time. The service was great too, very patient in explaining the different varieties of baked items that were unique to Mexico.

My favorite location other than HLP. It’s never busy when I go and it makes it easy for me to sit and enjoy my goods. As someone who does not consume meat, I greatly appreciate the soy chorizo mollete. I love coming here to do some schoolwork, enjoy a coffee, my breakfast, and perhaps a concha. See you soon…

This is a great place if you want some authentic Mexican goodies including the drinks! I have a friendly staff and lots of delicious goodies to eat. I typically get some baked goods that don’t need refrigeration survey last. They give back to keep the butterflies alive around the world since 90% of them have disappeared...keeping the eco system alive!

I love this Cafe. I randomly found them on ubereats and ordered their mini conchas and tres leches latte. It was so delicious I had to go to the site to check it out myself. Upon entering we were greeted by a cozy cafe/coffee shop with individually wrapped pastries and a lovely variety of cakes. I HAD to try the beautiful cakes, and lucky for me, they sell them in slices too. Originally we ordered the berry cake, and a slice of flan, but the worker heavily suggested we try the horchata cake. We couldnt decide so we said we would try it next time. After we finished paying, he gave us a slice to try on him! It was so sweet. We will definitely be back. Overall, they had wonderful service, beautiful presentation, and delicious food and drinks! If you havent had a chance to try them, youre missing out!

Very knowledgeable staff, I noticed the bakery items on another level then the other monarchas & the charming little tables in south pasadena right off the goldline is prolly the best vibe & atmosphere of any monarcha I have been too. This spot is lit & Fernando was a very knowledgeable & helpful counter person, he really made the difference in my overall experience. A + plus, highly recommended... if La Monarcha, mexican bakery items & bomb organic mexican coffees & teas is ur jam, cant say enough about non dairy options & oat options

The drinks and service were pretty good. We ordered the mango slushito, horchata iced coffee, and cafe de olla iced coffee. The cafe de olla iced coffee tasted like americano with cinnamon, so not the best cafe de olla. We also ordered soy chorizo burritos and they were okay. Lastly, we tried their horchata cake and it literary tasted like horchata (moist and not too sweet). Overall, my expectations were a little high and not met.

This is my reward for swimming at the Rose Bowl at 5:30am The fresh pastries are delicious and the staff is very friendly. If I am in the mood for spicy sandwiches or a little sweet corn cake, this bakery offers a variety of choices which are always very good. The coffee and tea blended drinks are native to Mexico. The Goldline train is across the street and makes the connection to downtown LA and people watching interesting.

The cakes in the display case caught my eye as I was walking towards the farmers market. Apparently La Monarca has been a local establishment for quite some time, yet I had never heard of the bakery before. This bakery specializes in serving Mexican pastries, cakes, and sandwiches - and they have a good variety of items at a decent price. While I was enticed by the cakes, I ended up purchasing a pastry instead - the cakes were a bit too pricey, although they looked really nice. I was surprised at the number of pastries they still had at that time of night. It was almost 8 PM and the pastry shelves were pretty full. Hopefully they come out with fresh ones every so often!I tried the guava danish, which was $2-3. Price point isnt too bad, but I honestly didnt think it was that great. The pastry wasnt flaky or crispy, but a bit soggy. The drizzle on top was also cloyingly sweet. I did like the guava filling in the middle though. I could taste the real guava pieces mixed within the sweet filling, which gave the pastry a nice bite. But other than that, there was nothing special about it.La Monarca is located on Mission Street, with a ton of street parking. I can see it getting busy during weekends and rush hour, but I feel most people just pop in and out. They also serve coffee here - with several tables for customers to be able to sit and chat.tl;dr - I think the location of this place is pretty nice as its right by the Metro station; however, I didnt really like the pastry that I tried. I definitely think Ill come back to try some coffee, sandwiches, or cakes - but Ill avoid getting the pastries.

Came in early Sunday morning to try out pastries and was not impressed. First of all the floors were filthy and under the bread cabinets it appears that it has not been cleaned under there in a long time. It is a small shop so I dont believe there is an excuse for this. We also had trouble finding a CLEAN table to sit at. Our egg torta had little to no beans and the egg looked as if was powdered eggs. Customer service was none existent as we were not greeted and it overall did make me feel welcomed. I am not understanding why this place is rated so high as the only thing it has going for it is the location. I will give them another chance in a few weeks and the first thing I will look at is how clean the floors are.

La Monarca is quite popular for its pastries, but the real reason I go to this little bakery is because of their polvorones (my daughter squeals at the mere sight of them) and their coffee grounds. See, this bakery gets it. Instead of throwing coffee grounds (urban gold) away, they package it up give them away for free to anyone who wants them.Polvorones AND coffee grounds? You don’t have to ask me twice.

Really not worth it. Especially if youre latinx and know what good pan dulce and champurrado are supposed to taste like. The pan dulce was completely hollow inside when it was supposed to have dulce de leche and cream filling. The champurrado (both iced and hot) tasted like hot chocolate mix and cinnamon. It was pretty overpriced for what I got. The place was nice but dont think Ill be going back again.
