They have a lot of employees in that store, but nobody asks if the can help you find something when you walk in. All other Ace stores Ive been in do that. It just seems like good customer service to ask when someone walks in. Yes, I can ask for assistance from them, but its good practice. I can always go somewhere else.

People are fairly friendly there, but not to willing to help find items. One lady helped and had to tell the man to show me where the item was instead of telling the location, which was what he wanted to do. He was not busy,so I felt he should have made that effort to show me without being prompted. Prices were a couple of dollars more expensive there than other stores.

I went in on the 18th to order all the stuff to build a 4×4 deck and said I would pick it up on the 25th. Go in on the 25th and nothing is ready and they were unable or unwilling to gather the materials. I had family come from two states to build a deck for my elderly parent, the best they could do for me was stating they could deliver it on Monday. The only person that apologized for the situation was the cashier who rung us up for the stuff and then had to give me a refund. Will not be using them for any future projects as even a weeks notice isnt enough time for them to get their stuff together.

So great that they were nearby as well needed to get a lot of things for the camper. Friendly helpful staff

Interesting...helped by three women for a small home project. The one at the center help desk knew her stuff and was personable. The gals at the check stand and the lumber office could barely be bothered to help and were unorganized, impatient and needed some CS training.Bottom line: there are plenty of places to get lumber and parts. You might think about using them and skipping this place.

Went to Knechts the other day to get cable TV connectors. Found two types, R59 and R6. I wasnt familiar with the difference, so I went to the Help Desk and asked one of the fellows behind the counter for assistance. His response to my question was I dont know! Beyond that no further effort was made to help me. This isnt the first time Ive run into this kind of attitude at the Spearfish Knechts store!

Make sure you talk to the same person. When you are asking about materials one will tell you they have it in stock and when you get there it there but the other person cant find it or give you the wrong thing. And if you have a return well they will taking it back and say they put the money in your card but they dont.. or at Less thats what I have to deal with every time I go there

2 star is all I can say, fill your order and end up with material that isn’t correct and when you go in to exchange it for the correct they almost didn’t want to, they need better people in the warehouse that know what they are doing.

Very helpful and answered a lot of my questions. I was able to make a return easily and effectively and able to purchase something just as easily.

They have building supplies. However, the customer service is terrible. We stood at the register for 10 minutes while the lady was on the phone (not her fault). Right next to us was an open register. At this time 3-4 other employees, not directly working with another customer, that could have jumped in and got us taken care of. I asked a team member if they could jump in and speed up the line and the response was “I’m in the middle of something”... ridiculous

Tons of selection. Went looking for a furnace filter and found so much more. It is a pretty new building and looks amazing. The have many departments and laid out nicely. Its very light and airy inside. The staff is friendly. One let us know about the other services they offer like mower repair. We are new to the area, and are happy we found our go to hardware store locally. It is nice to not drive to Rapid to get something so simple like a filter etc.

If you are looking for a company that truly lives up to their motto, look no further. They really do have the helpful folks. On numerous occasions they have helped this seemingly lost diy-er (just ask the misses) get the materials, tools and share the insight to save me THOUSANDS on home repair over the year or so I have frequented them. They really work as a team to put the customer first. If an associate that is helping me knows another associate is more knowledgeable in a certain area they are unashamed to ask for their input when helping choose the right products for the task.

Prices are up to 50% more compared to other local stores in the area. Example: Local store nearby had 6 foot fence/tree stakes for $3.99 and Knects was charging $5.99 (50% more!!).Knechts Home Center and Ace Hardware of Spearfish continues to raise their prices each quarter and gouge Spearfish residents. I recommend checking other local stores first before getting gouged here!

This store has absolutely no regard for the dangers presented by the Covid 19 virus. Almost none (one) of their employees wears a mask. Apparently they do not understand or dont care that masks are worn to protect customers from infection not the mask wearer. They also have almost no regard for social distancing. Until the store begins to care about customers Ill shop elsewhere.

Came in for the first time to grab some plywood for a home project. Dave over in lumber was incredibly fast and friendly, even when I had to come back to get a piece re-cut. Thanks Dave!

Place is a rip off... 30-40% higher prices than menards but saves a trip to rapid I guess.

I was promptly greeted at the door by a very friendly lady. She was unable go help me with the parts I needed but she took me to some one who could. She did not point me to some one she actually escorted me to a gentleman that could. He was equally friendly and helpful. He found what I needed and walked me to the checkout and wished me well. The clerk was very courteous and friendly as well. It was a great experience.

Inventory system non-functional, staff not knowledgeable in their departments, poor attitudes. Easier to go to Heislers or Rapid City. Will not return here or any other ACE Hardware stores, so much for Buy Local.

We bought a craftsman snowblower on January 8, 2019. We used it maybe four times. In October it wouldnt start. We called the store and the Department manager recommended Barney Wagner. He is an employee at the store. He picked it up on October 3rd. He returned it to us November 4. He charged us 160.00 for a coil. It was leaking gas so he took it back again. Two months and five snow storms later he still has it. Bad experience all the way around.

No helpful. Nobody seemed to know what the right hand was doing because the left hand was in the way or out to lunch. The employee in the siding dept apparently went to lunch when we got there and nobody else seemed able to help. We was in the store close to 2 hrs and the siding dept employee still had not returned. No they wont get my business

Expensive. People are friendly, some things are about the same cost as Walmart, but most things are 2x the price or more. Its literally worth it for me to drive to Rapid to go to Lowes or Mendards to save 50% vs. their cost. For must have immediately items, it works.

Ace is one of the most frustrating places Ive ever attempted to do business with. Their inventory system is an absolute wreck. I wasted two hours trying to get what I needed and they didnt even end up having half of it when they said they did. I literally couldve driven to menards in rapid in less time and wouldve gotten everything I needed and wouldve saved enough money over ace prices to offset the fuel to get there. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Their employees are also clueless and and slow as snails. I will never bother to buy from them again. I will also be returning what I did buy there earlier today since I have to go to menards anyway and I have no interest in supporting ace as a business.
