I took my little brother to buy some paint for his figures. When we went in no one had on a mask. Tables full if people playing games and sitting very close together and no care for social distancing . The staff ignored us till we got to the registers, and the store just has very little of everything. Im not sure what they are supposed to specialize in but it looks like more of a hang out. The adventure begins is definitely 100% better and has a very wide selection of everything, as well as the gaming tables and event nights for everyone.

Bad place for manga. There were 4 manga books and it was fairy tail, ain’t nobody reading fairy tail. Don’t recommend if you’re looking for manga.

Its always fun to come here and look around. They have a good selection of games and comics. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the games and comics. One of our favorite places to go play cards and hang out.

Weak selection of both games and comics. The shop does not feel inviting, you walk in and staff ignores you. Its also super awkward how no one is wearing a mask.

Super welcoming! It’s the one go to place for any tabletop games and comics. I wasn’t well knowledged when it came down to collecting comics but Eric helped me out when it came down to what issues I should grab and why as well as to understand the history behind the issue and even how great the story is. CJ and Denis are just great! I love MTG and they invited me to come to draft night and see how it’s like. The experience was great and always suggested new games that are similar or even what to look out for in the future that has a lot of people excited for. To be honest it’s hard to go to another shop when the hospitality Fat Ogres exudes right when you walk through the door makes you feel comfortable and that if your looking for something they don’t have right then, they will help you find it online or order it for you. Great team and great fun!

Went for a quick trip for something specific, but after about a minute being there I realized that absolutely no one there but me & my family were wearing masks. Glad I didnt buy anything, a business that is so careless about their customers doesnt deserve customers.

These guys are great! They are super helpful and friendly if you need their assistance with selecting a product. I was there recently to buy some miniature paint and the clerk was very helpful providing some guidance on someone not very familiar with paints.

This is a mostly miniature and comics store. They do offer some boardgames for sale, but the selection is pretty small, and the prices are average. The space is quite large, but they didnt offer any sample games for people to come and try if they want to. All the tables were being occupied by miniature war style games.Ive been to a few stores around Houston that offer store versions of various boardgames that I would like to try. This one was lacking in that department.

Went in and asked Dennis about MTG. It had been ~20 years since I had played. He gave me a refresher and sweet deal on a starter set for my son. Im really thankful for the great service. He could have taken advantage of me but instead was honest and generous. Great place with friendly people and an honest staff.

Appeared to have a great selection. I was greeted as I entered and the staff were helpful but not too pushy, which was refreshing. Will definitely return if Im looking for a new board game, miniature paints or comics - or if I just need to kill some time and Im in the area!

Fat Ogre Games & Comics is a good place to play card games and tabletops. The store area is a good size. The staff is friendly and willing to help all customers. There are tables to play card games such as Magic and tabletops to play Warhammer. The atmosphere is very relaxed and peaceful. The stores selection of products differ from card games, to comics, to tabletop miniatures. There is a diverse selection of different items for different games. Although, i wish they had more of these products. They have a little bit of everything just not a ton.

Always helpful and a great experience. We have been coming in for the last year and have been able to have comics on hold even when we didnt reach the quota needed to start a hold subscription. Also have had extremely great customer service in many other ways and very knowledgeable. Its like family but with friends that have grown from our once in a while show ups to get those picture reads called comics. I dont understand all the tables with buildings and the card games but when we stop by those folks are having a great time. Got to give the customers a thumbs up in the artist department, I have no idea what those models are for but hands down great craftsmanship. This place is worth a visit and it growns on you like hair. 😎

I love this place. After years of loving the idea of tabletop gaming I finally gave it a shot and checked Fat Ogre out. Nice little gamers place. Been a few time so not a regular but the staff doesnt treat you like an outsider. They are friendly and if your new to board gaming or table top gaming they are very willing to help and make you not feel out of place.

They have a great collection of minis, dice, cards and game material to browse. No matter youre experience with games, it is a wonderful place to check out

Mostly war games, which I wasnt excited about but the low rating is because it was pretty full and the A/C must have been broken. Wholly unpleasant experience. Staff was friendly though and on a different day for the right customer I could imagine it getting 4-5 stars.

Great selection, but even better customer service. We were immediately greeted with a smile and support. The employee, I forgot his name unfortunately, was very knowledgeable, even about games that have been out of print for a few years.

Nans comics reigns supreme! Buuut Nans is across town!! This is a great place though. It was my first time here. Like most comic stores it has to diversify to survive. So less than half this store is actual comic books. The other leaning towards games. DnD and such. They also had collectible figures & models. No one really asked me for help but i wasnt even sure what i was looking for. In this case it was Xmas gifts for the connoisseurs in my circle. I took my time grabbed what i wanted . No line so check out was fast. All in all a sweet lil place for the like minded.

I love this place, they are a group of amazing people. The were respectful helpful, i felt as if they were blood. I suffer from horrible anxiety; although when around the staff and customers i can relax. Beautiful spirited people i would reccomend any with the love of cards, comics

This place is growing on me. The comic book offerings are sparse and inconsistent.. If they stock your series at all, there may only be a handful of copies that are sold before you get a hand in them. The gaming selection is even smaller, and there isnt really any space to game (other than card games like mtg). But the staff is nice and knowledgeable and the building is spacious.

Refuses to comply with statewide mandates. Establishes no pandemic precautions. Staff is bellicose, foul-mouthed, and complacent. A far, far cry from what the shop used to be. I will take my fond memories (and business) elsewhere.

Really great local game store. They have a lot of tabletop games(primarily stuff like warhammer, bolt action, x-wing, etc.), along with comics, role playing games, and board games. Pleasant atmosphere and a location right next to hobby lobby makes it convenient for shopping in order to get models built and painted.

Definitely had a good selection. Plenty of games and they constantly get new stuff in. Solid comics selection and plenty of trades. Ive met plenty of cool people hanging out there and just having fun. Need to work on the lighting though its a little harsh. Other than that Ive had a good experience and would recommend.

Fat ogre is one of the best shops in the area. Ive been coming here for the past 4 years and they never disappoint. The staff is amazing every time that Im here and thats one of the best parts of playing here. I would recommend this shop to anyone.

My home comic shop! Dennis runs the show and Eric knows anything and everything about the comics. I guarantee he will have you leaving with a couple extra books in hand then expected.

Great place for nerds like me! From D&D, Pathfinder, and Warhammer; to Magik and comic books. This place has it all. If youre looking for anything related to tabletop games its probably here. As well as a lot of comics and card games. The staff is nice and helpful. I have never held a session of a tabletop game here but I know you can do it if you please. For anyone this place is awesome, cool, and welcoming! Would recommend!

They have changed focus to primarily a Magic game place with some miniature gaming tables. Very small collection of table top games and reasonable collection of comics.

Not very female friendly. Everyone there is very hover-y and assumes that you dont know what youre doing. (To the point where an employee actually tried to quiz me when I was looking at graphic novels.) Only shop I know that requires you to pay for orders before they arrive in the store, and they never actually tell you when they come in. I would rather drive 15 extra miles to go to a shop other than this one.

We play magic the gathering with friends and family of various ages and this is where we come for all our decks. The staff is awesome and very helpful and their selection is wonderful! They have a place to play and they have a dungeons and dragons set up where you can play as well.

My favourite place to go when I need to get out of the house and nerd out. The staff is very knowledgeable and always helpful. I go primarily for MTG and Warmachines. It is my place to go for MTG pre-release events! They have several tables for board games/MTG and miniatures. Whichever your game of choice they almost always have it in stock.

Ive been here a few times. A few years back, I played Magic: The Gathering and played here with a couple of my friends. Eventually I stopped and picked up a bad (or good) comic book habit. If you are looking for current and up-to-date comics, this is a great place. Older and back issue selection isnt too fantastic. Also a great place for playing all kinds of games.

Fat Ogre is a nice store with a good selection of inventory, but has problems with customer service. I purchased a board game from them, did not open it, and had to return it because I accidentally purchased the expansion and not the base game. I was told they only allowed exchanges (even with a receipt 4 days out and an unopened shrinkwrapped game) and that it was their policy. I told them that having this as a policy does not magically make this OK and that this was not good customer service, nor something Id like to do business with in the future. I should note that during the exchange the employee gave me the base game (which was listed as $10 more) for the same price, so the employee tried his best to salvage the sale. However, I will not be giving them more business.
