I always recommend this shop to anyone looking for a mechanic. Tom and his staff have always been amazing to us. I freely admit that my knowledge of automotive engines is limited to an episode of “The Magic School Bus” I watched twenty years ago, so honestly, it would be fairly easy to tell me my car needed a service and I would pay for it regardless. Tom has told me when my car needed a $700 repair but then advised me that due to the model of my car and known issues with the design of the engine, it may work but it would essentially be a ticking time bomb. He didn’t have to do that - I would have paid $700 and then when the engine gave out, I would have shrugged it off as bad luck. We’ve gone here for years, purchased vehicles from them, and likely will again in the future. When you have a good, trustworthy mechanic - that’s invaluable. I’m definitely very local to Route 66!

I have been taking my car here for oil changes for the pat year or so and they have always been very fair with pricing, as well as do a thorough check of my vehicle to let me know any issues every time. They are nice people and do good work.

Learned my lesson taking my GMC somewhere else to have work done. Luckily I took it here, and they found and fixed what was potentially a very dangerous oversight by the last shop. I will be bringing all of my vehicles here from now on!!

Do not get your intocalock installed here have had nothing but problems ever since and before I even drove it off the lot had run service system on the breathalyzer. Also they screwed up my ignition so my key cant come on like it should. They even said nothing was wrong with it when I dropped it off but if I wanted it fixed Id have to make an appointment and pay for their mistake. Took it to another shop in Springfield and they finally was able to fix it and they asked who installed it the first time and said it was terribly installed.

Such great service. I am thankful to have found them.

I am very pleased at the work they did on my van an this was the first time I had ever been to them. They put in a new transmission an dealt with warranty. Every time I called they were very nice and explained to me what was going on. They never hid anything from me. Now they have replaced the alternator. They are good at what they do. I will continue to take my vehicles there.

Very kind hearted people work here! Great place to go other than big wig shops! What I thought was really cool was they ha a giant poster of car parts, and could show me and tell me what was going on with my car and how it got fixed. It was pretty neat! Love it! Definitely recommend this place!

Ive been going to First Choice Automotive for 3-4 years now. First of all, their customer service is phenomenal. Their staff are always very kind, positive, and upbeat. Having worked with people for almost 10 years I know how difficult that can be on some days, and they have more than earned my respect by always making me feel welcome and appreciated as a customer.As far as the actual work they have done on my vehicles, I have never once been left unsatisfied. They have always been prompt, honest, and fair with anything Ive ever needed to have done. I am pretty rough on my vehicles and they have always found a way to keep me on the road without me having to break the bank. For example, Ive had times where I have had things that needed replaced on my vehicle and they have told me that I didnt need to replace these things at the moment and I could wait. Also, there was another time that I was in an accident and took it to them to get their opinion. They told me that they could do what they could for me, but that they recommended I take it somewhere else who could do a much better job on the needed repairs. They gave me their recommendation and didnt charge me for holding my vehicle or looking at it.In conclusion, with all the horror stories you hear about getting your car worked on these days I am proud to say that I would recommend this amazing group of people to anybody I know who needs a reliable, fair place to go. This is the most customer friendly automotive shop I have ever used. My car was a mess when I brought it in and the gentleman at the front desk helped me so much and advised me the best options for my car. After my car was finished it felt like a new car! They say they are the dealership experience with independent prices, but they far surpassed any dealership I have ever used. They are the best!!

We have 3 cars in our household. I bring them all here. So far had ac repairs for 2 cars. Engine mounts, alignment, belt replacememt. Flushes . Rotors and brakes. Sensors replaced. And the regular oil changes.Never had an issue with the quality of work and the prices were always competitive.

Two years ago, I brought my truck in for an inspection for tags. Was told it was going to be 2.5k USD. I said no, and went to Ricks Auto. So much better, Im sorry, but your service writer and techs are not cool. FYI, I spent 300 plus parts to get my inspection done right. How does no one there even know about doing a lube when doing an oil change? You can keep my rear diff on display, but Im sure I was overcharged on that as well.

These people are so nice. Do great work at a fair price. They have also given me a ride to work a couple of times when I have left my truck.

I called Tom with a PCM/ECM change on my trucks computer on a whim. He was the only one that had a DRB3 that could help me out. Although the change was able to be programmed Tom still helped me out and was very friendly. First time ever coming here and thanks to the service I received I would defianntly highly recommend First Choice Automotive to anybody.

Damaged my car, didn’t take responsibility, brought car in three times for the same problem. Owner started fight before realizing I wasn’t who he thought. Never fixed car. Was my go to for 6 years. Would rather flip cars from the auction than work on customers. Beware

I take my car here every time I get my oil changed. The owner remembers me and ask how Im doing when ever he sees me. They replace my oil pan but for free because I was starting to get striped out on my 2006 mustang. They change my oil and fill my fluids plus wash my car and check everything over for about 30 dollars.

Very nice and courteous staff. Very professional work and accepted my own parts to put on the vehicle. They were able to get this done within one day and I was able to drop off the vehicle overnight so it was done first thing in the morning.

I got two vehicle inspections done here today. The service was professional and the shuttle service was great. I received an honest assessment of both vehicles.There was an easy opportunity to charge me for something I wasnt knowledgeable about and they didnt take advantage of that which was refreshing.

I called Tom who is the owner of the shop. He is very patient and kind, actually he is! He helped me replace my cylinder 3 spark plug and helped me save a lot of money compared to other shops in springfield, such as pepboys, meineke, daytona, these shops are robbing your money. If your car has problems, come to this shop. It was a very satisfied and affordable experience.

Performed good service but......Was told that they would only put type of oil in the car that was suggested by manufacturer. I always use synthetic blend because it good enough for the type of driving I do. Didnt appreciate being charged the extra for full synthetic just because its their policy. They were upfront about it I just didnt like it. If it was stated in the groupon I wouldnt be butthurt about it.

I sent a relative there to fix one problem and after telling him to spend over 600 dollars to replace tires and brakes, even though the tires had tread, the problem wasnt solved. My relative insisted it was the front bearing. They explained that the mechanic checked the bearings and they were fine and insisted he replace all four tires and both brake sets. After doing as they suggested, the problem wasnt fixed. When he expressed dissatisfaction, they took the car in, realized it WAS the bearing, as he suspected, but they fixed the bearing for free because of the mistake and they spoke with the mechanic who made the misdiagnosis.They have never talked me into getting repairs I dont need and have always had the best prices for years. this oversight made me lose a little trust... but I have hope for the future with them

I would not send my enemy there. Lied about the car I wanted to buy said it just needed a few MINOR things done to it. When the car was still smoking after being told it was just residual oil on the manifold I took it to a mech. close to my home. I found out it had 2 cracks on the valve cover. The man I bought the car from had taken it to 1st choice to have this problem corrected before I bought the car. 1st choice told him that the car did not need it. The second mech. told me that someone had just put silicone gel in the cracks. Weather it was the person I bought the car from or not 1st choice should of never left the car in this shape. I was left with a 430.00 valve cover job. Luckily the man I bought it from is going to flip the repair bill.

Got my head gaskets fixed about a yr ago here and now recently had my intake manifold gaskets replaced and my new mechanic got my motor put back together and noticed the spark plug hole is stripped and now we have to Helicoil my head to get my car to run right. There is no way they couldnt have noticed the miss in my car after they did the heads or notice it when putting my motor back together, which wasnt done right because there were all kinds of loose and missing bolts. Will never go there again. They dont guarantee any of their gasket work and I will never recommend their service to anyone!
