Dustin, the front desk lady, offered me a free room and pizza coupon during my stay there until the car was fixed.The parts ordered the night before did not arrive as planned the next morning. I needed a new a/c fan. James sent a team member to grab the parts from the dealer at Fort Wayne. One way distance is an hour and 15 minutes. The car got fixed as soon as the parts arrived late afternoon the next day. This shop is managed by courteous and skilled people which makes them unique. This place is highly recommended.

James and Dusty were so kind and helpful the day my oil pan shattered on North Street in Sturgis MI as I was passing through town on my way back home to NH. My car was originally towed there. My car was evaluated promptly! Then it was towed next door to the Jim Stykemain Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC dealer where it was exactly opposite! Too bad the job was too big for Tuffys. I really wish they could have had my business instead of the awful place next door. My car was delivered to them on 9/2 and today on 9/24 I still dont have my car. Thank you James and Dusty for treating me so well.

My car was making noise and I stopped for the night just south of Sturgis. I found Tuffy and was happy to see them open on a Saturday. As a traveler, they squeezed me in and me car was looked at right away. They got me squared away and back on the road, charging me nothing. While I hope to never have to see a mechanic while traveling again, if I do, I hope it is near Sturgis and Tuffy

Took my 2001 Ford Escape to get a diagnosis... immediately they were on top of it.... had the bearings, hubs and other things fixed within a few hrs. I live 45 mins away, so they even gave me a loaner car until I could come to pick mine up. Amazing place to work with!!! We are from out of state and broke down. These people made sure we were taken care of and got our vehicle fixed in one day. Been here twice. First time for brakes on a work vehicle. The dealership told me over $1200 and were going to replace all brakes and rotors. Called Tuffy and spoke with James. He said to bring it in and theyd check it and get me a quote. Turns out only back brakes and rotors needed to be done. Saved me a ton of money, in turn my company saved a ton. Took my wifes car in with a few issues. Expected a pretty hefty price tag, $1000+. Turns out brakes were fine, replaced a missing bolt which was causing a metal on metal noise. Door able to close/latch a certain way. Also they screwed the bumper to hold into place. Less than $200 out the door. They did a wonderful job finding the issues and fixing them for us. Will use them again, and every time I need some work done. Got a return customer for sure!

Outstanding service!! My family and I were traveling home to Ohio from Minnesota last month and we happened to stop in Sturgis, MI just at the moment a system warning light came on in my 2013 Honda Odyssey. We went to the nearest shop and they couldnt help us, so they directed us to go to the Tuffy just a couple miles further down the road. We caught the manager, James, and two of the employees just minutes before they closed for the night. They stayed the extra time it took to help us get into a loaner vehicle for the night, advised us on where to eat and hang out for the evening, and made us feel right at home. We were so relieved to have lucked upon the nicest, most helpful car repair shop ever!! After making sure we were taken care of for the night, they called the next morning to check on us and give us an update on the vehicle. They had us back on the road just a couple hours after they opened. Brand new alternator installed and ready to go! The rest of our trip home was perfect thanks to these guys. James and crew, we cannot thank you enough!!! These guys turned what could have been a HUGE headache into a nice stop along our route. Well always remember the friendly folks in Sturgis, MI! I had an unexpected issue that I needed fixed quickly and Tuffy was one of the only places open during all of the COVID craziness at the time. The crew at Tuffy was timely and very friendly. They were also honest with me about the issue and ensured that I understood what had happened and what to look for should it happen again.

I was in town for the weekend and had some car trouble. This place was one of the few places even open. They were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They even offered to give me a ride back to where I was staying. I never felt any pressure from them or like I was getting taken advantage of. Would highly recommend.

I’ll never go anywhere else. The staff is amazing. They always have a smile on there face and treat you like family. John and James are truly amazing men who know what they’re talking about. They sit with you and explain everything with great detail.

Professional and friendly service. The team went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of (free shuttle car so I could keep on with my day!) and that I understood exactly the work that needs to be completed on my vehicle. No one enjoys having car issues but they made the experience easy!

I came in for an oil change and tire rotation and was told they check your fluids to. But in the middle of it they came and told me they couldnt do the rotation because of my wheel spacers I was ok with that but they never checked my fluids.

They stayed over on a Saturday to get me on the road for Monday. Gave accurate information and answered all our questions happily! Free borrow vehicle was a life saver during repairs. Very happy! A joy to work with.

We took our car here and got shocks installed. The mechanics never installed them all the way on the car. They also never put my brake fluid cap back on. I got down the road with the shocks rattling all over the place. They forgot to put them on. A little over a Year later one shock went bad. They replaced them. Charged me for labor, even after the slipshod workmanship. Loosing my brake fluid cap. They apologized but never cared about any kind of reconciliation or compensation. When I left. My car drove poorly. Pulling drastically to one side. All of my tires were a different Pressure! The Manager didnt seem to care. Even though I had also paid for an alignment. They obviously dont care about customers. I can no longer trust Tuffy In Sturgis Michigan. Been a week since Ive been there. Have a lot of oil leaking all of a sudden. All of the maintenance I keep up with. Its either sabatoge or something else. That they failed to notice while they were under there.

While traveling through the area we had a break line start leaking on our truck. I contacted two other auto repair facilities in Sturgis and both said they were booked out and wouldnt be able to look at the vehicle for days! I began calling other shops but as soon as I spoke to Jim Richards, the manager at Tuffys Tire and Auto Service, he immediately made me feel welcome and relieved that theyd be able to fit me into their schedule. Jim totally understood that we were basically stranded and need help getting back on the road. And once we got to his facility, Jim and his team assessed the situation and provided me with a quick and reasonable quote that I accepted. And from the time we arrived, to the time they had us back on the road, it must have been less that an hour; it was that fast! The repair charges was also reasonable and we appreciate Tuffy not taking advantage to this type of situation. They get 5 stars in my opinion! Thanks again for your help and courtesy!

These guys were great! My exhaust system fell out of the bottom of my car on a rip from Cleveland to Chicago and I had to bring in the car for an emergency repair. The manager, James, took the car in first thing in the morning and quickly let me know what was going on. Because the car was old and I wasnt planning on driving it much longer I was given three different courses of action: 1.) Fix it by the book 2.) weld it together with some good-and-strong but makeshift materials or 3.) just wire it up the best they could. I went with #2 and its gotten me by for months now.Its also important to add that they could have easily gouged me on price since i was in a pinch, but they did not. The prices they gave were reasonable and it actually came out slightly under the estimate.

Traveling home to Ohio from Chicago on the turnpike, the left front-wheel came off, at dusk. At the tow truck driver’s recommendation, I had him deliver the van to Tuffy’s door. The Tuffy staff started working on my crippled van as soon as they opened. They communicated with me at every step of the repair process from ordering the parts to what was being worked on next.The Tuffy staff is so friendly, professional, and competent that I felt like I was a member of their community. I was able to relax and trust that I was getting the best service possible. They kept me comfortable during the wait and offered a loaner vehicle in case I needed it.They had me on the road again in 5 ½ hours. This is my favorite auto body shop in Sturgis Michigan. The mechanics are knowledgeable and have a good understanding of how to fix cars. The lobby is always well stocked of complimentary coffee and restorers are clean. They offer special so make sure what they can do to knock a few bucks off.

I have taken all of my cars to be serviced at Tuffy and have always had a good experience. I trust them, the team is great, and they have great amenities such as payment plans, national warranty, and roadside assistance. Thank you Tuffy for taking such great care of my families cars!

We aren’t from here, here for a dog show at the st joseph county fairgrounds when our gear shift cable busted and we couldn’t move our 1 ton van out of park. We called these guys and they had a wreaker our to tow it to the shop within about an hour and had us fixed WITH an oil change within 24 hours turn around time. Very good customer service and very fast. Very polite people.

I moved to Sturgis in 1999 and I needed a mechanic that would be able to service my wifes newer vehicle and my clunker and be conscientious and competent. I tried several mechanics during the first few years here but Tuffy won my business. I trust John and James to do the right thing for my vehicles, with the safety of my family as a first concern and with my budget in mind as well. The guys at Tuffy know my vehicles and keep great records. If I ask them when my transmission fluid was changed on car C, they know and they make sure my car gets the right service and parts.I find comfort in the fact that the same people work at Tuffy month after month, year after year. That means you have a mechanic earning a living wage who likes his job and will care about you as a customer. If you are looking for Super Discount Loss Leader mechanics, Tuffy is not for you. My truck broke down on I80 while moving to Maryland to be with my husband who is active duty Navy. I called Tuffys to see if I could have the tow truck bring me to them after multiple repair shops in the surrounding areas didnt have a mechanic on duty that day. The owner John was there that day and took my truck in without any question. His master mechanic was able to diagnose a fuel pump failure and they had the part within an hour and full replacement within a couple hours. Not only did they take care of my truck, they hosted my 2 dogs too! What a wonderful team here! Thank you so much!

Woman seriously just refused to give me a quote over the phone to replace 2 6 flex couplers on my car. Bring it in so we can confirm you know what youre talking about place is a sorry excuse for a joke. To the jack hole with the cocky response you only confirm how unprofessional you are with the whole crystal ball statement. It was a known fix, she was given the exact measurements and was still unable to amswer one simple question that 5 other local shops didnt have a problem telling me the book estimate on.

I live 2 hours away from this shop but they impressed me so much that I will be getting all my mechanical work done there from now on. Wonderful people & service

Had a major oil leak with my car. They got it in right away and took a look at everything. They did the homework and found out it was a recall to save me money. They also thought they had an issue with another part that needed to be fixed. They fixed it and the issue still remained so they didnt charge me for the additional work. I would totally recommend them again.

We have been using Tuffy in Sturgis for all of our automotive needs since 2001. I will not let anyone else touch our vehicles, even if it required towing to get them to Sturgis. John (owner) and James (Service Manager) are extremely knowledgeable about everything automotive and they explain every repair in terms that are easily understood. I have always specified the use of Tuffy parts that carry a lifetime guarantee and the few times a part has failed it has been replaced with a new part at no cost. I do not hesitate to send friends and family to Tuffy and I have never heard of any of them having a bad experience. It is a very good feeling to know that, if I am out of town or unavailable, my wife and daughter can take a problem to James or John and it will be repaired just as though I was taking the car in for the service.One thing that has always impressed me is that every mechanic in the shop is ASE Certified. In the 11 years I have been going to Tuffy there has been virtually no turnover in personnel. With the exception of 1 mechanic, the employees working there now are the same employees that were there when I first walked in 11 years ago.
