There is no way to describe our life long experience with Federal Way radiator. since the 1980s, our family has followed their moves (always to a bigger building and location) to have our vehicles repaired by Ron and his expert mechanics. once again, we needed our 2008 Tahoe serviced and I called Tracey which as always, got us in right away and saved the day.

Every time I go to Federal Way Automotive I get professional service with great rates and quality work. We have 5 cars in our family and we trust them with every one. Going here you don’t have to worry about them telling you the truth about the auto repairs you need. They are honest.

I made an appointment to have my battery installed. They got my car in on time and I was out of there in 18 minutes. They treat you like family and make sure your happy with their work.

I cannot say enough good about this repair shop. They do amazing work, they are efficient and can typically get you scheduled immediately, prices are very competitive, and they give you an honest diagnosis of what you need, vs want they would like for you to do. I had come in to have the Check Engine light that came on and was feeling stressed that I wont get a chance to find out the problem. They did just that in no time. Unfortunately, they didnt have the equipment to reconfigure my vehicles computer and even printed out the diagnostic summary and guidelines from Nissan. Yet it made me feel much better. I had to get it fixed at the dealership, since this was something that a dealership had the means to do and it was a flaw from Nissan. It was years previously that I first went to this shop and they helped fix an emissions problem in no time. Federal Way Automotive and Radiator lives by their standards of honesty and integrity and as a result, I will definately return to them for other car needs in the future. I have used Fed Way Auto several times . The 1st experience was obviously how I got to know and trust them. My wife and I had just bought a newer used SUV. I brought it in along with a new Walmart battery because it wasnt starting. I totally guessed. After I popped the hood to install myself, I realized it wasnt as simple as usual. I had it towed and dropped. They called me 45 minutes later and told me its ready at no charge. Since then its been a great relationship. Its tough to find a good mechanic that you can trust. I strongly advise them to anyone.

I had an oil leak so i took it to these guys and expected an $800 bill but ended up with a $240 bill so i had them fix my a/c while it was there and it blows cold now and only spent $454 for everything! And it was all done in a matrer of hours and picked up my suv the same day. I highly recommend!

Brought my sons car in because the window would roll down and wouldnt roll backup. Had them diagnose the problem and it would cost $850 to fix. Its not their fault Volvo charges astronomical amounts for parts. Needless to say I didnt fix it but, Tracy got the guys to put the window in the up position and she didnt charge me to do that. Thats why I go to them because you can count on them for a fair value. Theyre not gonna drag you over the coals like most other mechanics.

I came here at the referral of les schwab and they did not disappoint. They looked at what was wrong with my car and explained is so well. They were very trust worthy and though they could not fix my issue, they knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it (they only could not fix it because the part I needed was not available outside of the dealer...) anyway, they were really friendly and invested in my situation. Super happy.

I came in because my radiator was leaking. I called to get an estimate, which was the best price in the vicinity, very reasonable. I asked if I needed to make an appointment to bring it in. The gal on the phone (I don’t remember her name off hand) said it was preferable, and she could have a technician available to look at it around the time we agreed on. Additionally, she said she would order the radiator, so it was ready. Within a matter of a few hours, the job was complete. The technician advised me a bearing in the automatic tensioner pulley, for the belt, sounded bad, making a grinding/humming noise. I asked that they replace that as well. They also checked the overall cooling system, and assured me everything appears to be working fine. I was very happy with how fast they competed the job, and how friendly and competent the staff was. They were very reassuring and appreciative of my business.

Our family has been customers of Ron and Tracy since 1987. Their workmanship has always been the absolute best and they and theirstaff are always friendly with the highest standard of quality. Theywill take on any job whether it is radiator work, scheduled maintenance,brakes, drive train, you name it, they will fix it and the best prices! They are like family and you almost wish something would break so you could visit them.

They were simply awesome for me, I had a blown upper radiator hose and couldn’t find one at a fair price. They quickly contacted their preferred parts supplier and got me one for around $25-40 I don’t remember exactly, but the part was a 1/3rd of the cost of every other shop or part store in the area. They quickly and efficiently replaced it with some sort of warranty I believe. Never had a problem since and it’s been about a year or two

Federal way Automotive always does an amazing job on my vehicle. They go above and beyond to make sure my SUV is done with in a reasonable amount of time (usually 24-48 hours from the time I drop it off). They always listen to all of my concerns and have reasonable pricing. Tracy the receptionist always make sure to answer all of my questions and has great customer service. They actually fix the problem and dont bandage the problem.

Everyone there is so welcoming. Very understanding. I trust them. They have reviews for a reason and a fair deal. The front desk is always a delight. They do a great job everytime. I will be a long life customer! If you want it done right you go there.

Edit: after reading their response they never told me any of this. When I asked what was wrong they told me if someone was at home who wanted to know, have him call. I was never given any of this information before and was denied any of this information when I asked.After all these great reviews I had very high hopes for this place. I took my truck in to get its transmission looked at. What i got was them looking at it for half an hour and then telling me I need it replaced. After talking to a few other shops, this is correct. Why I am giving them a 1 star review is when they told me I needed it replaced I asked what was wrong and was told very little and then quoted a crazy price. After going to 2 other places that have quoted 600-800 dollars less for the same services. I would of expected a better explanation as to why it needed to be fixed since they charged me 115 dollars just to do that. None of the other places have charged me to look at it and I was not told before I would be charged to get it looked at..

I have been to this shop a multiple times. Needless to say, I was recommended to the place by another local shop that is close to my house, and I have to admit, I was greatly pleased. The service is amazing and they treat you like family. I love how I am remembered each time that I call in and they let me drop off my car earlier or pick it up later after service if I am not able to pick it up right away. These people are great and make you feel home when you get there. I would like to publicly thank Bill Mills at Federal Way Automotive and Radiator for doing such an amazing job repairing the blend door actuator (heater, defroster, a/c vents) on my 2015 Silverado. After investigating what was required to replace this unit I knew it was more than I wanted to tackle (removing the dash). Bill researched it thoroughly and found a short cut that saved an enormous amount of time and cost. The dealers all remove the dash and your looking at well over $1k. I cant tell you how many time Ron and Tracy Buckholz at Federal Way Automotive and Radiator have come to the rescue and got me back on the road in record time. Thankyou to everyone at the shop for the outstanding customer service. My daughter purchased an old Dodge van and wanted to drive it cross country (almost 3000 miles). She took it to Federal Way Automotive and they got it running and safe to drive. They did many repairs and did a great job keeping the costs down, and made sure the vehicle was safe and ready for a long drive. They even took personal pride in their work and named the van butterscotch...which is a perfect name.They found the least expensive way to get her on the road, and made sure she would not break down.

My Lexus RX330 needed a new alternator. No one else could beat their pricing with a LIFETIME warranty. The service was fast and friendly I had my car back within 2 days. The only reason for 4 stars is the communication issue I had with Tracy. She never called me to tell me my car would not be ready until the next day, and when it was finished she still didnt call me to tell me it was ready. Another issue was that I needed a new power steering belt which I told Tracy that I would think about changing it and get back to her. The next morning I called Tracy and she said they went ahead and changed it anyway without my permission. If you need work on your car I would be cautious and keep communication on point with them.

These guys rock, they are now my perm mechanics. Dealer came at us with over 1k to begin with, 700 more if they had to do something they thought might be wrong. Took it to these guys, they did the diag, replaced the alternator, for less than half of what dealer wanted, cleaned throttle body and all is well. These guys are really nice and recommend them as a mechanic.

A friend of mine recommended this shop to me to have my drivers side window motor replaced. I called and asked for an estimate and the estimate they gave me was 50% less than the dealership I called. Their office hours are the same as my work schedule, but they were very accommodating and let me drop my car off the night before and pick it up after office hours the next day. When I dropped my car off, they understood my concern of leaving my car parked outside with my window stuck open and offered to park it in their garage. The next day I got a call saying I didnt need a new motor and they only needed to replace a cord, so my total cost would be $100 less than what they quoted me. I was blown away they were so honest to not sell me something I actually didnt need. Im very happy to know I have a local repair shop I can trust! Thank you FW Automotive and Radiator!

I am so stoked about this place. Hands down the best service Ive ever encountered with any mechanic. Unfortunately we didnt have the funds to fix the head gasket, but they offered some advice to keep the car moving until we did. They were so insightful and personable, I will definately recommend them to any and all.

I saw all these other reviews and had to check them out. They did an oil change for me and an inspection (which I thought would be way more expensive than it was) and came back with only one thing that needed to be taken care of on my vehicle. All other places I have been to will charge an arm and leg for what they did for me today. Ill definitely be coming here from now on.

Failed my car emissions, so went in for an exam and a fix. Said they could fix it, and it would be much less than the waved price of $150. Parked my car, went in and waited. Waited 5 minutes and saw my car driven in. Checked my watch. Then, exactly 14 minutes later, car was driven outside and was done. Came in and signed for car.Price was $150 +What ?HmmmmI left - I was so pissed.Then I checked my receipt - -$94 for labor ? ? ?For 14 minutes ?Thats more than $400 / hour ! ! ! ! ! ! OMGWrote an email, asking for a call. Received none.Wrote to them with a review, asking for a call from the owner. Received noneI called and asked for the owner. Well I took my truck to get it diagnosed at another company and they said I had to replace my engine. Took it to Federal Way Auto and Radiator, the real problem was a broken valve spring. They fixed it with my water pump and had it ready for me the next day. Amazing people and very friendly.

Called a week in advance to make an appointment, show up to be told my appointment wasn’t made for the day and time we agreed upon on the phone and that they couldn’t get me in today.
