Recently visited Compass Rose for a gift for our nephew and ended up with gifts for everyone. I got myself this amazing set of dominoes with copper tiles from the Tacoma clock tower. We love this place, highly recommend!

Annoyed and ripped off, I bought a “mystery ball”. I should have been warned by that alone but I was impressed by all that I saw in the store…. At any rate, I opened it and it was a finger puppet, some cheap stone, temporary tattoo, and a lemon drop for all of $7.95!!! So I went the next day to either eat a refund or at least an exchange. The manager was rude and condescending at hello, wasn’t willing to work with me AT ALL. I can get better customer service at Neiman Marcus, Target, AND Safeway. It’s safe to say today I WILL NEVER SHOP AT COMPASS ROSE AGAIN!

This is the best place in Tacoma to get gifts - amazing selection for every type of person. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Also laid out in a very pleasant and comfortable way - no cramped aisles or claustrophobic shelves.

My go-to place for an easy, grab-and-go gift for pretty much anyone on my list. The selection is highly curated, but also extremely varied, so you can find something cool and unique no matter who youre shopping for.

One of my favorite shops in the popular Proctor District. Its impossible to hurry through. Pretty things or funny, gifts for granny or kids, cards far off the beaten Hallmark path. Its always a treat. Sometimes Im not shopping, just enjoying a browse to keep things in mind.

What a variety of beautiful offerings! From cards & handsome gift wrap, niche fragrances, locally-made jewelry, to fun & chic kitchen wares and gorgeous art prints, youre sure to find something lovely for your friends, family, or yourself. They even sell many wonderful things for kids to enjoy! All of the items are beautifully curated and displayed, so despite purveying a huge variety of items, it doesnt feel cramped or jumbled. I have come in many times to find a gift for someone special, and likewise as many times just to browse, and the staff are always friendly, warm and welcoming. The prices on the items are moderate to high, but reflect their handcrafted nature, high quality, and often local origin.

The store always has something for whatever occasion Im asking for. Its clean and welcoming and the staff is so personable and nice. One of my favorite shopping spots in Tacoma :)

Its a neet store full of things you want but dont really need. It predominantly a store for hipster chicks but there is also a childrens area, a kitchen area, and even some dude like things here and there. Worth browsing if you have some time.

Lovely bric-a-brac; sweet smelling candles and lotions; locally designed handmade jewelry, honey, caramels, chocolates. Le Creuset and Sugarfina. They have a photo booth inside and lots of fun novelty toys for the kids.

Our favorite local shop to find quirky or sentimental gifts alike. You can stop in for everything from a collection of Unicorn accessories and the supplies to make a handmade card to a set of high end Le Creuset dishware and a card made by one of many local Tacoma artists. I have several pieces of beautiful jewelry from this shop and they processed a very fast replacement for a chain that was snagged by the dog and broke. Most places dont provide that type of service for human or pup error! My school aged daughter loves to roam Compass Rose just as much as I do. We could spend an afternoon getting lost in its seemingly small space, exploring all of their newest offerings.If looking for a gift for (literally) anyone on your list or to spoil yourself, you must stop into this Proctor District destination.
