Worst experience I have had buying a firearm. Ordered online was not informed there would be a background check required even with concealed weapons permit waited at least 2 hours for check to come in also I was not to impressed with selection of other hunting supplies shotguns and crossbows. I will not make this mistake again

I was just doing some shopping thinking it was gonna be a great first experience inside the store. Besides being followed around the store and told I couldn’t try on the shoes before buying cause of the pandemic but see lovely older WHITE couples that had help. I was on the phone with a friend asking him his take on guns, where this woman walks up and declined me information and sale because I asked him which would better suit me as an inexperienced person spec wise.. pretty sure it’s because I’m of color….but it’s understandable it’s the world we live in…

Wendys on the corner of Pensacola and Appleyard is the best Wendys in the City of Tallahassee. They have great Food and People. Debbie who is a Cashier and does many other task for the Restaurant has a great attitude and service each time. Always get good service and they make good on everything. I love their Honey Mustard for chicken nuggets. Go Wendys Go!

Best price on handgun 9mm ammo. Sale prices on Monday and Thursday usually sold out by end of the day. Fair assortment of fishing gear at average prices.

I love Academy Sports and this one has a great selection of just about everything. I wish it would have had more college gear but overall a great store. The cashier was really awesome as well

Just spent 25 minutes trying to get a fishing license here. They had no problem charging my card the $47.50 for one year before coming back and telling me they couldnt give me a fishing license because my drivers license date of birth and social security number did not match their system? It is complete incompetence to build a customer or charge a customer for something you cannot provide at that moment. I know all of my information is correct

Great place to shop outdoors and guns. They price match with major retailers and customer service is nice in the store. They have great deals on clothing few times a year. Closeouts are really cheaper than anywhere else, including online. Plenty parking. They are at a great location.

Frequent special/clearance sales provide good bargains, especially on house brand (Magellan) items. Good array of outdoor activity equipment, sporting goods, and clothing in stock. Congenial and helpful staff, including at the gun desk (particularly patient and informative to novice shooters).

Ive always liked Academy. Anytime I went home on leave Academy and HEB were places I had to visit. I bought my first sleeping bag from Academy when it was a small army surplus store. I dont understand why they only offer military discounts a couple holidays during the year, the military doesnt serve a couple days a year. Bass Pro offers a military/first responders discount.

Less costly than Bass Pro Shop for same brands.

I enjoyed the store but there were a few things that I look back on and just wish were better. We bought a Cargo Rack for our Canoe and feel we would have loved it if it wasnt a returned item stuck back on the shelf for me to buy brand new. And the Bench we bought was pretty nice with a good price tag. I wish I had better assistance on my shorts I bought for I was looking for specific Addidas Shorts for woman and I was sorta lost. Just bought what I could had found. Maybe with help I would had bought more. But overall just nothing stands out exceptional about this store but its not horrible either. Just mediocre service. My order was lost. I ended up having to buy shoes from Shoe Carnival. Its not the first time. My sister had a curve side pick up that took more than an hour before she ended up inside to get it settled. I will not order online for store pick up again.

Cant go wrong with academy, theres always something for everybody. I always shop here for shoes, they have the newest trends, hot deals and good clearance. The customer service representative that cashed me out was very helpful, knowledgeable and made me feel welcomed.

One of my favorite stores in Tallahassee. All you need for whatever sport you play. Academy has all the hunting and fishing gear youll ever need. Camping, hiking swimming, clothing, shoes and boots, bicycling, I could go on and on. Academy has everything for active and outdoor lifestyle.

Went there today to buy a bench gun rest. I left before buying because of their new checkout system. The close quarters of the people in the long line waiting for checkout was designed by Mr. Covid. Wont be back.

We came on for kids shoes. We found shoes that they liked which isnt always easy. This was the first visit and it looks like there are other things we are interested in so we will be back.

Actually found Ammo there we were needing and it was not priced to rip people off! Outstanding!!

This review is based on customer service received from an online order: overcharged for items, unable to resolve by phone or email, received stained items, based on poor phone CSR (I actually had to send pictures of price tags showing sale price to rep on phone and she said she had to send to corporate to request adjustment to charge) … I will now have to make a physical trip to the store in hopes of getting this worked out - totally defeating the purpose of ordering online!!! 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

I have problems finding extra wide shoes for a reasonable price; I succeeded finding a nice pair here. Store has a limited selection compared with the online site, but will ship it in, so all you need is patience

A large selection of athletic and sporting goods. I purchased some reasonably priced Magellan fishing pants and a quick dry t-shirt for outdoor use. Good inexpensive option for clothing that will be tested on the trails and abused at work.

The variety is incredible, great prices and wonderful clearance items. The staff is friendly. Its a clean and well organized store.

False advertising!!! Your add says canopy tent straight leg tent with shade cover. I drive 20 miles, during a gas shortage in Florida and the customer service person hands me somethong the size of a notebook. I told her I ordered a tent and showed her the add. They both said yeah, its misleading and 😳 I immediately asked for my money back. You need to change your add to say tent cover only.

Good prices. Store brand, Magellan, is good quality. They don’t always keep the shelves stocked though. I’m never sure if I’ll find what I’m looking for, even if I’ve gotten it before.

Poor customer service by management. Yesterday, I was addressing an employee beside a register about the location of an item. The manager, without regard for my presence ordered the employee to help another customer, in mid conversation. The manager then attempted to walk the employee through returns. The manager was even rude to the other customer, with his demeanor, but he did say sir. The customer service area was open, where people would normally do returns. I went to customer service and asked them questions, when the manager came over and said Im sorry, who are you in a condescending tone. I am a CUSTOMER! As a consumer, if I go inside stores, rather than online or curbside, its for one of two reasons: convenience or the customer service experience. Unfriendly management, Im completely disappointed in my experience at Academy Sports.

What was once a wonderfully stocked sporting goods store has turned into the epitome of disappointment and rude staff. The gun bar used to be a wealth of information and equipment, none they cant even answer a simple question such as when they will be restocking firearms and ammunition. I understand things are scarce right now, but when do the trucks come in? Is it so hard to just inform your customers as to when the supplies will be restocked?

Most are Great people !! Some treat you like dirt!!One walked in front of me almost walk into me!! Then later a lady apologized for the other lady..sadly they do not realize or care that I am native American one of my ancestors died on the trail of tears..froze to death.It is so sad .. I am the one that should hate..but hate will destroy you.

I could not believe how poor their service was, no one offered to help, and when we asked for help, we were treated like we had asked for the moon. Management...We are members of the ammo camp out crew that will often arrive at 5:30 or 6 am to have a chance to purchase bullets and shells in your store that opens At 9am. We wait anxiously for the store crew to unbox the ammo and place it in customer service on the counter for all to see. This allows us to see what stock has arrived...so you can determine based on inventory... and your place in line if you should wait or go. Sometimes saving me an hour and a half of standing if a small amount came in.The point: we witnessed a white female employee take about 900 to 1200 rounds of 9mm bullets off the counter and stash it under her register counter before store opened... after the stock crew had stacked them up. We had already calculated how many of us would not be making a blank trip based on the number of boxes in view.Sadly, we were not successful... I asked the young black man behind customer service about the missing ammo... he didnt know but suggested they may have been taken to the gun bar for new gun purchases... which Im familiar with...so I asked the white older gentleman at the gun bar who did have a few of boxes... but had no where near the 1200 rounds... or the BRAND that was removed.Finally, please ask employees not to hold ammo for their friends... but instead...to join us in line and brave the 37degree weather like we did. Employees should join us too please.Other than this issue... my experiences shopping at the store have been positive.We appreciate your attention to this matter.Thx Craig/980-4442

Well the shoe department was a BIG MESS, went for youth soccer cleats. I found a pair of shoes someone had taken off and put in the box 🤷🏻‍♀️ so stolen.. This store previously only put one shoein the box to prevent theft, I highly suggest go back to that method.1. so the workers interact with consumers.2. will keep that dept zoned and less junkie (unorganized)Same goes for mens belt section.The cashier asked if we found everything okay and I said NO the SHOES are a mess and told her about me finding the box of shoes.. Her response was OH THAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME 🤦🏼‍♀️

It was clean, well kept, orderly. I was looking for womens boots...not a very good selection for that. There isnt a bunch of variety in the mens boots available, either.During COVID, the signs say that masks are required. For those of you who dont like wearing one, they do not enforce it (or they didnt while I was there).

Great prices and the customer service was pretty good today, we were buying shoes so severalXç people helped us and some were great and others were ok but none were rude, and we got a great price on work boots, so I was happy with the trip!

It was a pleasure visiting Academy Sports on Black Friday. They had plenty of staff available to assist. All were cordial and friendly. Store very clean and well stocked.

Horrible customer service. I waited 20 minutes for a customer service rep to get to the department I needed help in. She then went to check to see if they had inventory in what I wanted and I waited another 15 minutes and she never returned. I decided to spend my money somewhere where I could get proper customer attention.

I went there for a specific item that I saw on the internet. When I arrived an employee directed me to the location of the item without hesitation. The box had been opened and I was afraid parts may be missing. The clerk opened the box and inventoried it with a very pleasing attitude. It was an awesome experience.

I went to academy to exchange an item and get the sensor removed off another and the sales associate “TINA” had the audacity to tell me “I was doing too much”. She gave me attitude from the moment she began helping and got upset because the bag that I walked in with was placed in customer service where I was originally at but was later directed to go to register 6 by her. This was such an unpleasant experience!!! Will not be returning and do intend on emailing corporate.

30 minutes for a Whopper Junior a chicken sandwich and a order of French fries. People need to go back to work! Food was cold because only two people were in the entire restaurant.

Edit****Changing from 1 STAR to 4 STAR, because the employee delivering the product for curb side pick up had better customer service skills and made up for the poor service with the employee, my first experience/interaction ever with an Academy store, over the phone.Old post::Terrible customer service...Words of advice to employees that interact with customers:1.Dont hang up on a customer when they are in the middle of asking a question on the phone.2.When the customer does ask a question, make sure the customer completely understands the answer to the question.3.Not all questions are yes & no answers. Explain the answer to them, give a little bit more detail... not just yes.... then hang up afterwards.

Over priced, didnt have anything I was looking for.

I purchased work out apparel online for curbside pickup. I received the wrong sizes, but when I attempted to exchange the items, was informed that the new policy, enacted after my purchase, is to no longer allow returns nor exchanges. I understand that businesses are experiencing financial challenges, however to encourage repeat business one should provide good customer service to retain customers rather than stiffing them to achieve a bottom line.

I will never order from Academy again. I returned two pair of shorts one for which I did not have a receipt for. Most stores would give you a gift card for the 1 you dont have a receipt for but not Academy the clerk said that it would take 15% off of my return OK well thats bad enough but when I return the pair of shorts I got back a $1.42 for a pair of shorts that cost $8. How is that possible? They were not on sale when I purchased them there was no reason for them to take 80% off of my return. The clerk had no solution other than pulling up an email which I did not have. Last time shopping at Academy sports!!!
